Just sent my Nexus 7 for a touch screen problem. For some reason it keeps registering two fingers when only one is actually being used. This caused erratic typing and ghost touches. The thing is on the front panel, there is a minor scratch that isn't too large but barely touches the screen. Do you think that would be considered a damage by me or would they not question that? It is a scratch for sure not a crack, but it is pretty dominant. I got the scratch before this display thing had started to happen and the scratch isn in the same area as the place in which the display is faulty.
Thanks in advance.
You can't do anything about the scratch anymore, so your best bet is to send it to the caste center and hope they fix it.
How did you scratch it? Did you drop it? Because if you did, there might be damage on other components as well. If you didn't, then there's nothing to worry about, just a scratch is no big deal.

I'm having the exact same issue, it's most noticeable when typing, sometimes when scrolling web pages it zooms in or out like I'm using two fingers, and my N7 is in perfect condition, with no damage on the screen at all. If they're going to just fix it you shouldn't have an issue, replacing it completely they may give you some trouble.

The scratch came from my car keys. Ik that the scratch wont be fixed but I do not want them to blame the screen error on the scratch which I am afraid is going to happen.

It seems that N&'s built during September of 2013 have this problem. Check your box for the build date and see if it is the same. Thats exactly what I have. When I type it hits too keys. For example it will hit c and space. Hopefully they replace it. Thanks though

Try calling ASUS and sending it in. They will fix it for free. Also ask the service guy for free shipping. Usually you have to pay but if you keep on asking, he will finally give in. Good Luck with your tablet!

Depending how severe the scratch is, you could use a screen protector to cover it up.

This will fill the gap of the scratch and give you protection at the same time.
You could always add Insurance on. Wait a week or so then call in. I'm not sure what carrier you have and how they operate. Then remove insurance after. Just a thought.

i wont dare for insurance,as they dare to just give back a 2nd hand device with other isues.instead of replecing the broken part.
i allready found a beya shop selling the shel/outer case for the side damag, but no luck on the screen.
screen protectors wont help, youd stil see the scratch.
i also dont mind spending up to 100 euro's to repair it.
Well I'm sorry to hear that its scratched. I'm sure you should be able to find parts for it. It may take some time though. I know how annoying those scratches can be. Especially when you know exactly where they are.

Hey everyone
I have put in a request to get my one x replaced with phones4u due to the screen flexing issue and a creaking case. Yesterday my friend wanted to see the phone as he was thinking of getting one and he dropped it! It wasn't from much of a hight but it has left a few marks in the case...
Should this affect my replacement?

Maybe, depending on the rules of phones4u. Any pictures?
Depends how bad the scratches are and if it's really visible.

you might have some problems because they'll try to say the problem was due to you dropping the phone =\
well i've emailed my account manager to ask now, hopefully they will still swap it for me as its not related to the original fault although i guess there's no way to prove that.
If not that my phone is insured so I'll get a new handset one way or another.
body scratches shouldnt hinder the replacement as long as screws and warranty stickers are untempered.
I think its no Problem, until something is broken. I worked for 3 Years for a HTC Repair Center and we are only look for broken displays and broken Cases. Scratches makes no Problems. Good luck Man

it was dropped from around pocket hight to the floor, its left it with scuffs in the top left and bottom left back corners.
Clearly only scuffs to the casing, no cracks or anything.

You should be fine. If they ask about the scuffs, you don't need to say you dropped it, but just that you had it in a jeans pocket with those metal rivets and you didn't realise it was rubbing against it, or something like that.
By the way is it the grey one? If so, did it go shiny where there scuffs are?

You should be fine I read somewhere they'll class it as DOA and they don't bother with DOA phones. They'll make a claim on it or something. I could be wrong though but clearly the screen issues were the reason you were sending it back as long as that is still there you'll be fine, worse that will happen is that they'll just send it back.
EDIT: Ouch, definitely need a case as I'm just like your friend prone to dropping! No replacement housing available as well for the time being so need to be extra careful.
Ohh nasty, I think it should be fine since its getting replaced for another reason, but they could refuse since the screen flicker issue is getting fixed next OTA update

Its not the flickering, its where the screen goes black and ripples when you press the edge of the phone slightly, plus the case creaks in places.
I dropped my phone yesterday when my team scored in the last minute of a cup semi final. It got trampled. Screen smashed to bits. Remarkably it still works and its still in one piece.
Screen is smashed but somehow held together and still responsive

Mine is blue I don't have any of those problems.

My headphone jack on my blue S3 is defective. Every headset I try if I spin the plug it will cut out the right earphone. My white one is fine. Funny thing is tho I like the blue one better so it is a deal breaker for me and rogers is sending me a refurb.

What are you doing to your phone to cause these cracks? I've had mine since it launched on AT&T and I've noticed no defects. My original Galaxy S had some issues like the bottom buttons would blink and click when I wasn't touching them (returned for a new one and didn't have that problem).

Is yours cracked? Maybe people sometimes drop their phones or do something to them and don't want to admit it? I did a google search and it doesn't seem that wide spread.

Pics of your back case? Just curious what kind of cracks you have. Do you have a case on it? My case covers the back so I'm not sure how it would get any kind of cracks on it. I wouldn't really call a google search with a handful of results a known fact. I had the original Galaxy S - horrid GPS on that was a known fact. There were posts everywhere about how bad it was. I'm not seeing that kind of result with cracked screens or backs.
I've got the blue also and I'm not having any issues with these sort of cracks on the back cover. And I've removed and reinstalled the back probably 50 times in the month I've owned it (I switch back and forth between my HOX, GNex, and S3 constantly).

Hot
I have a white one. My phone gets hot doin simple task. My overheat app said its 104 degrees after about 30 min of playing a game. Not a game like NOVA but like angry birds. Is this normal?
http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/articles/371555/20120808/samsung-galaxy-s3-cracked-battery-cover-white.htm
The link has some pics as well as explanations.
Mine has very vivid cracks on the back case, What i do not understand is why pebble blue is having issues known to white only.
I have blue, and have some micro cracks around the flash, I'm assuming due to extended use and overheating. You have to want to see them though, pretty subtle.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 2
The cracks on the bezel are quite well known (except by Samsung who won't admit it!). White ones seem to be worse, but cases have been reported on the blue ones too...
My wife and I upgraded last week. Her SGS3 micro sd card reader was inoperable out of the box and we had to return for a new one. I had 4 cards in different sizes formatted to fat32 that worked in my SGS3 did not work in hers.
I figure Samsung is churning these units out at such a quick rate to meet the demand.
Is there no such thing as a perfect HOX without issues on the screen when you apply pressure on the sides? Has anyone ever sent their phones for repair and had it back perfect?
Normally you won't notice this when operating the phone but say for example you're taking it out of the case or working out the gym and switching music you're definitely gonna apply more pressure and I can't help but feel that it's gonna break apart or cause permanent damage everytime it happens.
Yes happens to mine too, when I use my nail and press on the edge of the glass. It happens to my brothers One X too.
Mine is worse on the upper left side. So you' re just gonna live with the problem?
I don't have this.

Completely derogatory reply, and unnecessary.
You're implying that every one who has this fault is squeezing the f**k out of the screen.
This is simply not true.
And lets be bloody honest here, what is the point of a touch screen device that if you put the slightest additional pressure on messes up the screen as though it's a bloody lcd monitor?
Seriously?
Am I supposed to put white gloves on when I use my HTC? Am I not supposed to put it in my pocket, just it case it gets' squeezed.
I'm on my SEVENTH f**king phone, and trust me, I don't have to squeeze the f**k out of it.
I've not come across ANY other phone that does this. ANY!
So STFU claiming you have to squeeze it hard. You don't. It's a f**king design flaw. And I'm sick the the bollocks in having to keep sending my units back. I don't want my TOUCH SCREEN phone to look like it's my f**king LCD Monitor when I'm using it.

No. I'm getting rid now. This is my seventh unit. Absolutely appalling design flaw.
This phone is supposed to last me 2 years. It doesn't feel like it's going to last me 2 minutes.
How do you think that screen is going to hold up after 8 months of being in a pocket.
After 12 months?
After 18 months?
Yellow splodges everywhere because the screen has flexed too much? Having to hold it like a newborn in case it gets damaged even more.
Bollocks to that.
This is my final return.
I'm going to have to go with the S3. I don't like it compared to the HOX, I don't like TouchWiz.
But I much prefer that, then having a messed up screen in 12 months time.
Dude, you need a chill pill.
And stop punching your phone.
Get an S3 if it'll make you feel better, but I can assure you that jabbing instead of touching will net you a similar outcome.

Bah! I got my phone without warranty so the most sensible thing for me to do is sell it now and get a new one hopefully without the issue. I've been asking some friends who have the phone and a lot of them don't have this problem. I really thought that everyone had this problem and just chose to live with it.
I have the same issue - but no problem with it.
At the beginning i had "ghost touches" but after i pressed the screen (left side) a little bit harder they're gone

Has anyone reported it getting worse? Im worried about permanent damage but if it just stays like this then ill save me all the trouble and just keep it
awesome how agressive oliseo is. seriously, the screen is capacitive, what means that you have to touch it, not to press it.
the one x is some milimeters slim and you get a hd display, a quadcore cpu (actually 5 cores but offtopic) and you are trying to tell me that that´s a serious issue that the screen shows ghost if pressed? so, i guess your tft / lcd monitor has this issue too, i´ve got seven tube-monitors before i got my tft and all the other monitors didn't showed that epic-design-failure.
dude. seriously.
I'm helping a friend out with her Sprint Note 2. She left it in her car during a hot day and said afterwords the screen was black. She said she could still see the screen, but then dropped the phone. She said it wasn't a high fall/drop and it didn't see hard, but there is one hairline crack in the screen. But now the screen doesn't come on at all. She still gets calls and notifications, but can't see anything. She can even answer a call by swiping her screen when it rings. My question: Does she need a new screen? I was thinking about opening it up to see if anything is loose. Would that be possible? I had a similar issue with my old At&t note, but I know that I dropped it hard and it had a few major cracks. I also know this probably sounds like a noob question too, but I'm hoping I can help her out with it.
Thanks for any help. Much appreciated!
Well I am pretty sure you need to replace the lcd. Hot is very bad when it coms to lcd displays. I would suggest getting the full replacement with lcd and digitizer unless you have done this a few times. It is very easy to break the digitizer while separating the two. Check ebay and you should be able to find what you need. If you are unsure that the item is what you need post a link to it and i will check it for you.
