I have set it to every recording quality and its never an option for me to select. Any ideas? I also can't seem to find smooth video recording?

You must go into settings to choose video stabilization and HDR must be turned off.

Thank you so much!! So what is the preferred shooting method for video? I'm going to the beach this weekend for the blue angels air show an want to shoot some videos. Is it better to have HDR on or video stabilization?
Sent from my SM-N910V using XDA Free mobile app
I like stabilization better and I personally shoot in FHD. The higher video resolutions does Not allow HDR, stabilization or dual cameras. Just start shooting now and see which mode works best for you. Good to familiarize yourself with the options. Good luck!

Noob question...so does my phone have this ability already? If I look in the video quality selection in the camera it says "high, low, mms and Youtube? Does youtube mean 720p?
Yes it does. The high setting is 720p.

I just noticed this now because I wanted to use the feature but my Rogers SGS3 can't take pics during video. The buttons not even there. I thought we were supposed to have that feature. Anybody else have that? Fix?

I thought that while recording video all you had to do was touch the screen to take pics?
That just causes it to refocus on that area.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Are you sure? I don't think you can manually focus during video recording. Taping the screen during recording looks like it is refocusing the camera but that is in fact the animation it makes when it is snapping a still during recording. No sound, no sliding to the side animation like when taking photos. Just that slight focusing effect to let you know you it worked.
Check your gallary.
Not working, tried that. Just refocusing the video. You can see a button on the bottom right that says AF to establish AF again. No pictures in the gallery.

I am on rogers and can take pictures during video.
when making a video all you do is press the little camera icon beside the red record button
I noticed that it says nexus so iam guess your not on stock rogers?
I'm with rogers using a custom rom and that feature is there

Here's a screen shot. Hope it works......

That is odd. Sorry I was of no help. Not sure what the issue is and unfortunately I'm not on a stock rom so I cant dig thru the cam/settings to be of any help.
Can someone who is on a stock rom that is able to take stills while recording post a screen grab of their cam app to show what its supposed to look like?

I've seen pictures of what it supposed to look like. Just was hoping maybe there was an option I missed. Very frustrating.....
If you have anti shake turned on then the option to take pictures while video recording is not there. Simply turn off anti shake

Does anyone know an app that will let you pull pics from video the way the HTC One X does? I'm not talking about taking stills while recording, but afterward when viewing.

I remember reading a review before I bought my S3 that said it had that same feature as the One X, I was sad to find it didn't exist on the phone. Would love to find something to do this.
Try frame grabber it cost money but works good

The stock camera well do this. Look above the record button for the vid cam, should be a slightly smaller camera button. That one will take pics while shooting video.

I don't beleive this is what the person is asking about. In a commercial for HTC, there is someone capturing still pictures from a video playback, not while actually recording.

Would like to ask my fellow xda member is they noticed when taking pictures it takes a few second to register the picture taken, meaning like mine everytime I take a picture it shows "processing" right after i click tue shutter and it will take a few seconds before I can take another picture. Camera settings is at default.
Sent from my SM-N900T using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
With the camera you can turn off Smart Stabilization and the processing time goes away completely.
does smart stabilization actually work? I've always left it on
yes, the stabilizer is work.
I think it works pretty good in the few tests I've made, but it does cause the lag you were talking about.

Check also that you do not have "HDR" enable. HDR will take a second to complete the process
Can't get my Camera to ever take a picture with flash. I also don't see a setting to set flash? Am I the only one having issues with this? Where Did you guys find the setting to turn flash on and off for photos? Any help is appreciated!
Sent from my LG-D851 using XDA Free mobile app
You have to set HDR to auto and you can toggle the flash.
If you want more settings for the camera, you can also use a 3rd party app like A Better Camera. It allows you to control all the camera settings like flash, exposure compensation, ISO, white balance, etc etc etc.
