Am I the only one who still hasn't gotten Lollipop OTA on the T700? I thought this started rolling out a month ago.
No you are no where close to the only one. The roll out has been incredibly slow.
That was one of the factors in me deciding to flash the TWDetox rom and honestly I couldn't be happier with that decision

So Samsung has announced that the North American S3 will be getting 4.3 TW this month or the next month. I just wanna know if I should expect any 4.3 TW custom roms to be forthcoming.
Custom will probably be our only choice since our wonderful (sense sarcasm lol) carrier holds them back for months if we get it at all. Only time will tell.
Does anyone know anything about the Lollipop update for the Verizon Note 4? Every other device is getting it, and every other carrier is rolling out thd lollipop update for the Note 4.... WTF Verizon?????
It is very typical of Verizon to be the last one to release an android update
No one knows anything, its all a guess

Its on its way. http://www.verizonwireless.com/dam/support/pdf/system_update/benefits-note-4-4-2-15.pdf?null
If you want ROOT, you may want to hold off on the update until we can verify that we can downgrade to KK with no problems. A KK Root method is in the works and could be released this weekend.
I am downloading the first of 2 updates here in Des Moines Iowa now.
I got the notice also
I am also just installing update one of two. If interested, I will post results in a bit
All done and updated... [emoji4] [emoji4] [emoji4]
If root comes to this, cool.. But if not, oh well. I have lived without it this long on this device. And so far(typically it is choppy after an update), is running smooth on mine at least..
done
It says now version 5.0.1, which we were expecting but it really heated up my phone and sucked up half the battery so make sure you connect your charger and it is over 1gig so connect to wifi for the update. Im still playing around with it so I havent much to say about it yet...
This could just be me, but I was running the stock and I just updated to 5.0.1, and not my phone keeps crashing after 1-2 minutes. Even when I'm doing nothing it keeps crashing. Is anyone else having this issue??
Update is garbage.
Not a fan of Lollipop with Touchwizz.
good here!
Ive been playing around with it and it has been great since the update. no crashes or anything...
Loaded the update an hour or so ago and smooth sailing thus far. The handset was very warm during the update but cooled back to normal afterwards.
Liking the animation changes thus far. just making sure there have been no battery draining gremlins introduced.
Note 4 root
There is a possiblity of the retail note 4 root this weekend?
Hey everyone,
I was wondering whether there is any consensus in the HTC community with regards to which software version is better/more stable.
My nexus 5 received the stock lollipop update and it was terrible, laggy, more stuttery than KitKat, battery life was worse, some features were inexplicably omitted, I had more trouble with apps than on KitKat. - I took all the necessary precautions, full wipe etc etc but it was definitely the update. I ended up downgrading the Nexus which thankfully was a straightforward procedure. I'm not confident it's equally straightforward on the M8.
Should I perform the update? I'd like to be on the latest version of Android, but if it's crippling in any way whatsoever then it is not worth it. The Nexus 5 lollipop upgrade felt like a downgrade so I've understandably lost my faith in Lollipop.
Cheers.
I'm running GPE Lollipop 5.0.1, and I have no glitches or other issues whatsoever, and it's definitely a solid upgrade over KitKat with lots of great new features.
Can't speak to Sense but if you're on GPE or willing to convert then I'd highly recommend making the upgrade.
If i had it to do all over again i would have left my TMO Stock M8 with 4.4.4 and NOT done the Lollipop update.
Even after a factory reset i still feel i liked 4.4.4 better.

Hi Jack, thanks for your reply. I'm happy with sense actually, I've been through a lot of android phones and this is the first non-nexus device I've been happy to use completely stock! I think HTC did a great job on sense, especially when compared to touchwiz!

Thanks for your reply, this is exactly my concern. I can't find any reviews that compare living with both lollipop and KitKat. Even the top YouTube reviewers are guilty of just focusing on the minimal UI changes..
Are there any areas in particular that make you feel like 4.4.4 was superior to lollipop?

first of all, I would never go GPe 5.0.1 Lollipop, google made a mess of it, now 5.0.2 Lollipop with sense by HTC, they ironed out most of, not all of but most of the google's bugs before they released it, I love sense myself, and GPe just bores the living daylights out of me, why have a HTC with GPe, when you can have a nexus ???, I buy a HTC for the Sense.
Lollipop, most people will tell you, boots faster, is much smoother than KitKat etc, I was using Lollipop when it was in the beta stages still for the HTC One M7 and would of never gone back to KitKat.

Yeah I have no plans to go GPE, I've already come from a Nexus and appreciate what HTC have done with sense. Couldn't agree more, the appeal for vanilla used to be speed but that went with the vanilla lollipop and is baked into sense so I'm good!
That being said, I'm worried the bugs they didn't reach would really piss me off. I won't be updating, I've disabled the notification from the drawer to remove my temptation. Very happy with my M8 as is!
Thanks for the help everyone!

I feel i had better battery life on 4.4.4
I Personally like the look and feel of 4.4.4 and i think that once i get 5.1 on the device (when HTC officially releases it my opinions will change. )
Hi everyone,
I've just gotten the new update notification.
I've heard that there are issues with the update. Worth noting I am completely stock.
Is it worth the update or should I wait?
Anyone?
I received the OTA to 5.1 about a week ago. It was definitely worth it for me, coming from 5.0.2. stock. I was having an issue where the battery would drain quickly each day unless I rebooted right after taking it off the charger in the morning. I haven't had that problem since upgrading to 5.1. I wasn't having any other significant issues with 5.0.2 and am also not having any problems with 5.1.
Sorry if this is a basic, or "stupid" question.. but i have been out of the rom game for a while. I sent my Note 8 back in for service about a year ago, and got hit with out of warranty because of root. ... so, since i got it back, i hadn't messed with it.
I am ready to move forward and had a quick question, or two.
1) I remember hearing that if you upgraded to 4.4.2 that there were problems with the s-pen not being in proper alignment. It was not correct in the official release and no ROMS fixed it. Is this still the case? if not, which ROMS do it best?
2) I vaguely remember hearing that battery life may not be as great on 4.4.2. Is this true?
3) is there any real reason to not just root 4.2.2 and leave it? any major improvements in 4.4.2 or roms that make the jump worthwhile?
thanks ! Looking forward to getting down to business with my Note 8. Most impr9otantly, with root, NO MORE ADS!!!!!
AFAIK there currently is no root available for 4.4.2.
I'm running 4.4.2, and I have no problems with my S Pen. Although, yes, the battery life is HORRIBLE. ill be at 32%, open netflix, start a show, and its down to 12%.
