Front Camera doesn´t work, maybe motherboard damage? Picture attached! HELP - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4

This is the situation:
I got the phone (used) a year ago, since the begining the front facing camera doesn´t work, i really don´t need it but i wanna fix it, so i can sell it on a better price, my sister has exactly the same phone, (SGH-m919) so i took her phone apart and replace the cameras hoping to know the problem is the camera itself and buy the replacement, but after change the cameras with the good one it doesn´t works neither.
a few days passed and i did research and a probable cause is damage in the motherboard, so i took my phone apart again and did a inspection in the part where the flex cable of the camera snaps in to the motherboard, and every seems to be good, but in the tracks there are like a mini resistor missing, i really thing that´s the problem, the camera isn´t conected correctly with the motherboard. I took the next picture.
NOTE: I checked the 1,2,3 resistors and all are 690 ohms i think those are inputs to the camera, i think that a jumper betwen the point A adn B may works, i hope someone could give me some feedback, thank you.
Pd: sorry for my bad english, i´m still learning.

Some Problem in Display!?

I had repaired my hinge once, afterthat, I installed the new i-mate ROM. The display become strange since then... It is the most strange when displaying pictures. It looks like the entire picture has been digitally modified by color blur?! (I'm not sure how to discribe it) It just like a lot of areas is rendered by the same color (the source picture has far more complicated details, but it is all been cut) And it is not a 3rd party software problem...
I assure my-self that this is not the ROM problem, I installed the old O2 ROM, and the problem still exist....
So can u guys please give me some advices?
Shall I send it back to repair? Could a hinge repair done that damage?

Check the connectors have not come loose first, then check the cable in the hinge. What did you do to repair the hinge?
Richard
I did not repair the hinge by my-self. I send it to Lemel repair station. And I don't know how to check the hinge or the cable on my own...
What I want to know is: Is this a hardware problem or a software one...
The set of cables if broken, cannot be re soldered or repaired...u will have to go in for a new set of cables and that is quite dearer around 15-200 USD

That's a lot for a cable  . I have repaired a jasjar that had sheared using an m5000's intact cable to map out a circuit plan of all the pins. I'll upload a diagram when I find it again.

UNIVERSAL : need a Coaxial Cable Pre-assy replacement

Hello
I am new on this forum, sorry if this type of question has alreday been answered.
I've got a UNIVERSAL/ SPV M500 and the Coaxial Cable (linking the screen and the keyboard) has been twisted and is damaged.
Where can I find/buy a spare part to replace it ? the reference number is 73H00233-01M (Coaxial Cable Pre-assembly) as indicated in the service manual.
Thank for your help.
Hey,
If you find it let me know, I need one two. Actually these are two cables the Coaxial (Display) and Coaxial (Functional). My screen goes white in landscape mode and I confirmed it's the cable by disassembling my machine. However was unable to find that cable Will let you know if I find it.
Me too.
I am getting odd touch screen errors and think it can only be the cable.
If anyone knows of a supplier, please post here.
Has anyone tried contacting HTC directly?
I've tried HTC europe , they forwarded me to the local repair centre. this one do not sell spare parts without repairing the item.
I'm trying to contact various shops . I'll let you know if it is successful

I have been having the same problems as you guys. my uni have been getting "white screen of death" for about 6 months now.
I am going to take out the cable and try and fix it myself. (fingers crossed)
I will let you all know how it goes. I felt £60 plus vat and postage was a bit steep.
coax cable
Fixed it!!
I took apart my uni down to the last screw, and rebuilt it.
In the process I did find that i am missing an antenna in the back, it should have 3 but only has 2. oh well it works.
The 3rd antenna is for 3g and i am not on 3.
Anyway back to my uni.
The coax conectors where a little lose, so after a good clean in a solven cleaner and popped back in to the conector holder, after playing for 20 mins I found that they poped back out verry slightly, just enough to make the screen go white and not function.
So the solution is to make sure it does'nt come back out.
ok.
well I have as a tempery solution put a tiny bit of foam on top of the connecter and held it in place with a bit of tape.
If this works for longer than a month then i will solder the cable down.
Touch wood it seems to be working. I will try and get some photos done tonight

Hi,
Congratulations!
What tools did you use for this job(srews, tweezers)?

Anti Static gloves!!
Because of the Job I do, I have an earthing band to connect the phone and me to the wall, and put the phone on an anti static table cover. All is good so far. I am looking at Feb to solder (as i have some leave in). There will be detailed photos and description.
Untill then........
Just found a coax on e-bay

Good done man go ahaed, and plz try to post the photos.
Another question, my universal some times lost its external speaker sound, so i cannot hear the rings, when i press on the back of the device, exactly on the battery cover in the middle between the two dummy holes and the usb port, it works again. Do u think that this is due to the coaxial damage also, even i don'y have any problem in the screen??

I have disassembled my uni and checked for all connections, but there was no improvement. I can confirm that the disappearance of external speakers sound is not due to co-axial cable. The proof is that i extracted my main borad from my uni and implanted it in another one, i assumed that the problem will be rsolved, but the same problem still exists. Ok, now i can disassemble my uni for smallest piece, but any one advise me where is th connection part or the piece that causes that problem. Again a brief description of the problem:
when there is a coming call, i cannot here the ring or it is sevrely intermitent, also when i play any WMP file, i cannot here the sound, if I press firmly on the base or around the keyboard the sound comes again and may last for a few minutes or disappear after another press. So, there is a lose part in the main board i think that needs fixation, but which one????
Hi all
Now it takes me more than a month to upgrade my JASJAR due to a lot of problems I faced during this upgrading adventure… anyway, the last problem I still have is that after upgrading the screen goes crazy, I mean if you press on the screen the colours are mixed for few seconds and then its ok but at any time I touch the screen again the same happened so you can imagine what if I am going to dial a number or write a message …. So can anyone advice me what to do? …
The rom version is 1.13.82
Radio 1.04.02
Extrom 1.13.188
And I think the bootloader 1.00 and I don’t know why I feel that the bootloader is the reason ... I made a deep search but I couldn’t find problem like mine

Sitting next to my M5000 and all of a sudden the screen turned on but was white!
Following your lead I found that the first i.e. 'underneath' connector was not fully home. A little push and all is well.
Took the time to pack out the housing for the stylus to stop the little blighter escaping whilst in there.
Thank you for taking the time to post gingerchristopher.

Flex Cable change gives errors PLEASE HELP

Hi dear developers!
I got a Touch Pro 2 from a friend, it's a GSM device he bought in Germany (O2). I changed a few parts but messed the main flex cable. The part from the power button is not connected anymore, a clean cut through, no repairs possible as far i think. So i bought a new one over ebay from Hong Kong. The seller told me it's for a GSM device BUT the cables do not look the same. The production date is 2008 and the damaged one was produced 2009. I built everything together and now the big surprise:
Phone boots normally but when the Home screen appears, it is always in landscape mode. No matter if the phone is closed or the keyboard open. I can only change the screen over advanced tools, but after soft reset again only landscape mode. The buttons for calling also do not work (those two down on the screen when you want to call someone or end a call ---> no reaction).
A hard reset and new ROM (energy) didn't change anything. By the way, the keyboard only fires up after pressing a button. Before it automatically lightened up after sliding.
What the hell is wrong now, did the send me a CDMA cable? Where is the difference ? Please help me i do not want to spent another 30 bucks again for a proper flex cable.
Edit: I disassembled the phone again and took a closer look on the flex cable: the lower part (with the LCD connection etc) looks quite same except for 3 or 4 transistors and their position on the PCB. The upper part with the earpice looks way different. The positioning of the single parts is not the same. But how can that interfere ? Guess there is no problem with the mainboard or the LCD (which is brand new).
Here are some pictures

OK, i solved the problem. The guy who sold the flex cable sent me a older one as I described. This thing was fully responsible for the errors. Bought a new one and everything works fine now^^ So if you ever want to change your Flex cable take good care which one you buy (especially on ebay!)
Btw: The display and the digitizer are glued and IF you want to replace any of those two, do yourself the favor and buy the complete bundle !!! I made the mistake and tried to replace the digitizer and cracked the display. There is no way as far as I can say, that you can manage this.
Bye
Can u post the seller info? Im in the same situation w a different phone... Thanks

Disassemble and reassemble of galaxy nexus :)

I have a few pictures of my galaxy nexus broken down if anyone would like to ask me questions on how and where things go they can. I actually find this phone to be very easy to get apart and if careful can be reassembled in 15 minutes. I was actually replacing my speaker with some old parts I bought off a guy. No more crackling! Anyways in the process grabbed some pics
U can see the first three are the screen bottom speaker, main board, vibe, etc. The last pic she's all back together
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Somehow I imagined a picture of me tearing down a smartphone where I was photoshopped out and replaced with a picture of a dog in a labcoat saying: "I have no idea what I'm doing"
Yep this phone is one of the easiest ive worked with. had to open mine to replace the earpiece. the only thing to take care of is the volume ribbon and vibrator wires, they can snap off really easily.

Yes sir....I just stuck a razor blade between them and the housing and they come right off connected to a gel like glue. This was good because sticking them back in place they actually stayed. U also have to remove the vibrator motor and the long black wire running down alongside the battery compartment (it has connectors on each end) then of course your two ribbon connectors for main board then one ribbon connector for bottom speaker. Didn't touch cams no need to.....very very easy job in fact it was to easy.
I have to replace my USB board (my USB port was damaged) and I am a newbie doing this kind of service myself. I bought it on ebay:

Do you think it is possible for someone with no experience to make it? I think I will try it myself, not in the mood to send it to some repair shop and wait 30 days..

Yes for sure...but if u do not feel safe doing it then take it in. I know to get to the usb the whole speaker and housing comes off of the top of that. Which is one screw then a ribbon fairly easy....then u just work something thin in between that and housing like a guitar pic or Mac card. I would go with guitar pic tho so u don't mess the corners of your card up. I know that once the speaker portion is off u see in my first pic the USB I think has its on board. I truthfully did not take that portion of it out thought it was kind of pointless. If u need help I will assist u if u decide to do it yourself

Thank you.
where is the VZ LTE radio? maybe i can swap mine out for one that doesnt cause signal drops.

The battery cover? Hmmmm. I am pretty sure the GPS chip is on the opposite side of motherboard. Looking at ifixit photos it says right by rear camera on the opposite side of motherboard.
Edit...also if u look at first pic in my pictures look on right side of battery compartment . See the black wire with the connectors on each end? I wonder if the connector closest to bottom came loose or has something to do with it

Not sure I have GSM model. And dude good luck with that unless u know how to solder chips on to motherboards that is nearly impossible and I think swapping a lte chip for another lte chip won't solve your problem

Thanks, appreciate your time.
I checked out ifixit, thinking that in the process of removing the cover I could of hit the GPS chip or something, but since you pointed out that its on the opposite side of the motherboard that's not a possibility. Since I have not removed the mother board.
I have not opened it again, afraid of ruining something else.
But I guess I will have to in order to check the wire you speak about.

I sent my phone in for repair to Samsung via Expansys for a bad external speaker. Back when it went bad, phone was too new to have all parts available as spares on the net plus the phone was still under warranty so I send it back to Samsung via Expansys-usa. But what I think happened is that Expansys didn't send it to Samsung and repaired it inhouse. I can say that because all screws inside the phone had chewed up heads and the repair didn't look good however the external speaker was working. First thing I found out that external volume rocker was not working anymore. So I send it back again to Expansys and I just received it back today with a note saying that the volume rocker ribbon pins have come away from the main board and taken the pin with them.
Bottom line is that they didn't repair the phone. Any ideas on how I can get this fixed? Do I have to change the ribbon? if I want to do it myself or this sort of damage requires a new board?
Any ideas comments are appreciated.
Edit: Link to photo showing the pins that are separated from the board

Hi Sarni,
I accidentally snapped the ribbon (refer to attached pic, circled in red), and now my speaker is not working anymore. I guess that ribbon was for connecting the speaker and headphone jack? . What do you think i should do now, replace the whole piece?
I also intend to replace my damaged charge port, but not sure how to proceed for that.
Thanks,

problems with 1 year old ZenFone2 4gb

Hi everyone, I bought this ZenFone2 4gb 64g, recently it got soaked in my pocket due to rain and now has a few problems such as vibrating motor not working, microphone and speakers not working and screen timeout not working as well.
the problem is that due to job I relocated to Pakistan and here there is no one with replacement parts for this phone neither do they have experience of it. I have located parts on aliexpress.com but I am reluctant to open it up myself.
ASUS says Thayer its warranty was only 6 months so I am left with no options. Help me guys if you know something which can be done.
Thanks
Its easy to open. Need just the right tools. I think you may need to change docking port chip. Its about 6$ at aliexpress. Changed mine.. There are a lots of guides in web. Try one.
If you don't want to change it, just order it and go to some Asus repair center or any cellphone, smartphone repair center. And tell them you're problem firstly. Anyone with normal knowledge about a smartphone could do this.
Ofcourse if you do it yourself there can be problems, that i had : Broken antenna cable (I changed display- twice), broke the battery (i was a fool ).
Little Instruction: Take back cover off, take all the screws out, they are about 10, don't remeber really. Unplug SIM, SD flex cable, that is on the docking port chip.
Remove Antenna, very carefully. And replace it.
