Hi,
I have an AT&T i927. The usb doesn't work, but I can charge it.
Is it possible to update it with custom rom or official rom without usb functionality? I would like to update to Ics when available.
thankx to all.

Can you clarify "The usb doesn't work"? Have you turned on USB Debugging?
Settings --> Applications --> Development --> "USB Debugging" (Checkbox)

download Samsung Mobile drivers......
The problem isn't driver or debug mode.
I think I broke the usb plug because I pull the cable with phone attached. So I'd like to know if there is a way to update wiithout usb connection.
Thank you.

On my previous phone, I recall using marketplace to install Rom Manager (either OTA or Wifi), then using ROM Manager to install CWM (Again OTA or Wifi). I'm pretty sure I had root already, though I do not recall for certain. I do know I was pleased and surprised to get a custom recovery that worked (Had to watch the bootloader versions, USB was very handy for that. Updating a bootloader could kill recovery, so USB would then be critical to putting the old bootloader back on the phone until a newer CWM became available)!
Once I had Clockwork Mod (CWM) installed as my recovery, most of my flashing was done without USB.
Here's a thread for the Glide and CWM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1458153
Apply Update (or other .zip file) from SD is the key function you need. Catastrophic recovery of a bootloader may not be possible w/o USB though.

Hello.
I used the Toolkit to root my Note 2, and I had to use option 4 on the rooting menu, Install Custom Recovery, Install via Recovery to get it to work. I tried several times via the Odin tool and Twrp recovery, and the phone kept booting into Android Recovery instead of Twrp recovery.
I finally used Odin to flash back to stock ROM that I got here, but, along the way, even though the Toolkit was able to connect to my Note 2, I get the Hardware ID missing, and I cannot connect to it any longer like I could after I installed the initial drivers.
Anything I can do and stay rooted?
Change usb ports or restart your device. Mine did it last night and I fixed it by doing both..
I have the same problem.
Changing ports and restarting in most cases didn't help and only in few cases I managed to access files on the phone via USB.
Any other suggestion how to solve this?
don't use windows..

I was able to gain root back using the toolkit. I flashed stock rom image I believe the ROM from the factory then flashed back stock recovery. Went back in after I updated and re-rooted to flash the triangle away. Now I need to unroot and after speaking with Sprint Rep on phone and trying a few things they advised me to take it to store to let them try it. I believe ALL of my problems started when I tried to use Mobile Odin Pro to flash the latest update to LJC (should I have been on stock recovery?). It started to flash then stopped and went into CWM recovery which is the recovery that the toolkit flashed. I for some strange reason was going to flash the update from there except I didn't have it in the right place on my sd card (couldn't access it GOD I'm a Dumbass!). God help me cause I'm too stupid to even understand what side loading is let alone how to do it. If some kind soul would take pity on me and pm me I could get a handle on the differences between HTC and Samsung. Anyway need to unroot now. Oh I keep seeing in the flash counter saying 1 but I'm on stock rom with stock kernel and stock recovery how do I get it to zero. Using triangle away. Anyway to check counter with stock recovery?
OH yeah does anyone keep getting "Internal Error Code 1500" in addition to the hardware id is missing?
Thanks to everyone that takes time to help idiots like me. I promise I CAN learn.

Just to report that for now I've found woraround. I've installed old drivers 1.4.103.0 and now both Kies and file access works.
Still looking for final solution with latest drivers.
Could you walk me through your fix?

I don't remember link. I googled so you might try that way.
Just FYI, even with older drivers I have sporadic Hardware ID Missing error, but far too less than with the latest version.
I'm posting this to keep it to the top of this board.
This is my second Note 2 in 2 weeks. I returned the first one because it stated Hardware ID missing, so within my first 2 weeks Sprint gave me a new one thinking that it was my phone. While at the Sprint store, and not yet rooted, we installed the unit and removed the unit 15 times to see if we could get it to have the Missing Hardware ID to pop up, it DIDN'T pop up once, so I thought I was good to go.
I came home and did the common root method that uses Galaxy Note 2 Toolbox. I IMMEDIATELY started getting the Missing Hardware ID again.
So now that we have it localized, what could be missing or creating a problem from the root procedure from the Galaxy Note Toolbox 2???
What I find really strange is that many are not experiencing this problem or they are just living with it.
I even tried the USB Switcher that appeared to install and does switch between Mass Storage and MTP, but although my PC makes the upward noise that sounds like it is installing and recognizing the USB Mass Storage, it doesn't end up recognizing it. It was ZATTA's build but he said it didn't work for his Galaxy 3 or Note 2 either.
Will anyone find a cure????
This will be no fun to have to deal with for the next 2 years.
Chime in PLEASE!!!!!! Even if it's only to insult me, I don't care if you have a cure.
Regards
Dave
if you do Google search, it's a known issue. From what I read, it's a driver issue. Some have had luck using the older Samsung USB drivers. You have downloand them, and install, and have your PC completely disconnected from the internet before plugging in your GN2 after the install. Appaarently the drivers on Microsoft's servers are bad; may be the wrong device.
I've done this, and still have the issue. I just find I don't have plug and unplug the USB cable as much.
What I have seen, the PC does connect to the GN2. It just doesn't recognize it as a storage device. It wants to use it as a modem, probably from the tethering capabilities with a USB OTG cable.
It may not be so much that it's not wide spread, but more that not everyone uses the GN2 as storage device or connects it their PC.
I dont think this is all due to Windows issue. This is what i notice before and after root.
If you have restore to Original Stock ROM, you will notice that your device doesnt encounter this issue.
If you have rooted your device Custom ROM or Flash CMW (this resulted as Binary Counter increased), you would have Hardware Missing Id issue. Somehow the MTP is not working.
If you have Flash your device with a pre rooted stock rom, there is no issue at all until you flash CMW where flashing increase counter.
How i notice this, i have root/unroot my device like 20 times since i got my device.
The issue is here is more of where Binary Counter Increase, in Windows 7 you would face Hardware ID Missing issue. Restart and connect to other USB port will not work.
Some how we need to no let the Binary Counter changed and Triangle Away is only useful if you want to return you device to original state.

Yep I think you may be on to something. Because when I rooted I tried both TWRP and CWM and then I had to go back to stock to get to apply the LJC update. Ever since I have had the chameleon error and Handsfree activation issues. Oh my counter always says 1 and I can't remove it with triangle away. I think it says custom binary yes and the counter says 1. I am using a laptop with Windows 7 and it now recognizes the device just can't stop the errors on start up.

Yeah I am just wondering since you said KDZ failed for you. Switching to the usb 2.0 might fix your KDZ fails. KDZ with the 20b to stock lollipop, then root it and get twrp. Then flash Blisspop and that should fix your modem issues where you don't get 4g lte or 4g lte is not sticking. From there you can flash what ever rom you want. So after a successful KDZ flash just follow my instructions here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-lg-g3/help/lte-lollipop-issue-fix-t3075637
I'll try your method is there a Linux way to KDZ? I tried KDZ on every USB port two different windows 7 installations. Tot works never KDZ
Also I super appreciate you helping me lol I'm about to run over phone with suv

Unfortunately I do not know a Linux version for KDZ. When you are using the LG flash tool you did install the drivers correctly and have usb debugging on and all that? Plus make sure your computer recognizes your phone and you are able to access it via mtp, where you are able to access the internal sd and your external sd card from your computer. If that works, then shut down phone, hold the volume up button while plugging in the usb cable to a 2.0 port. Once in download mode your computer should be installing another driver too access the phone via download mode. That is my experience with the LG flash tool and it works every time, and since I experience that LTE issue I used the KDZ method a lot of times and never failed. By the way, what is the error message you get on the LG Flash tool when you flash KDZ?
FYI.
If you want since you already have TWRP and Root just flash the Blisspop rom and flash the stock 20b stock image from my thread. Just ignore the KDZ or use TOT first then root it and get TWRP and flash blisspop, but either way try to flash the Blisspop 2.3 rom from April 4, 2015 and see if that works

Flash the blisspop rom and it should fix the lte issue. Just remember to back up your current rom via twrp. Then flash the blisspop rom, once confirmed 4g lte is stable restore backup and you should be good to go with no hassle of setting up new phone.

Hi to all devs and gurus,
I am new to this forum but not to DIY (and messing things up).
I have Cyanogenmod 12.1 on my Nexus 7 2013 WiFi.
I've installed my N7 in my car dash and it is working fine except for GPS (Use N7 for navigation was the main reason behind my install). I've tried this kernel but with no luck to fix GPS issue.
I have gone through so many posts here and found out Cyanogenmod is not worrying about fixing the GPS issue. And for this reason I want to go back to stock android so that I can use GPS in my N7.
I have little problem here. Becasue the way N7 fits in my car, I had to change the USB port end from bottom to side (by opening back cover and bending the joints of charging port, I know its stupid mistake). And in doing so I screwed up royally and left with broken USB port. Now charging using wireless charger.
So long story short, how can I can get stock android without using computer (or before that if anybody knows the fix for GPS issue, I want to give it a try)
Thank a lot in advance.
Assuming you have some kind of network connectivity, Just download the image to your device. If you prefer to download from a PC, transfer it by using a cloud storage solution like Dropbox. The free version will have enough storage for a custom ROM.

Thanks @ezas, I have few more questions.
So can I download the 5.1.1 image from developers.google.com page which is a .tgz file and push to tablet and use TWRP to flash? Or do I need to extract this .tgz file and push only some of the files and flash? I am sorry but this is the part where I get confused.
Please, anyone know how should I do that...

Problem first: My note 4 has no network of any kind (wifi doesnt start , doesnt recognize sim card )
When i try attaching a usb cable i get Device is not recognized (checked drivers, cables so its software and it's the mobile)
The only communication with the device is via the SD Card.
Tried flashing a stock 4.4.4 via stock recovery. Nope! It says Update from external card is disabled.
I'm looking for a way to root , or flash anything.
Every thought, suggestion, idea is welcomed.

Never been OTA updated to lollipop OE1? That one doesn't allow downgrading to older versions.
Device not recognized with USB in what mode and operation? Security protocols for KitKat and Lollipop are restricted. Device should be recognized in custom recovery or download mode. Did you try Odin? Power down, download mode and flash the NK2 stock tar. If you're still having problems ##786#. Still having issues, try the NIE stock tar. Make sure you power down before flashing stock tars. Link to KitKat tars mentioned above; follow OP, post 1 for instructions.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=56853341
For root, you need CF Auto Root for Note 4. You can also try TWRP Manager for custom recovery. It's in Google Play. But you don't have to root to flash in Odin. Samsung KIES is alternate method for restoring factory firmware or updates but some are confused by the serial number request; not recognized. Haven't tried it myself.

Tx for the reply.
Device is not recognized in neither mode (normal, download or recovery).
I tried ##786# but i dont know my msl and i cant find a wy to get it (im outside the US so the phone is not activated). I tried some "msl reader find my msl" programs but they cant get it. Any1 has some apk that may work in my case?
As for the flashing as I stated all I need is a way to flash stock but i cant get the PC to recognize the phone so im stuck.
EDIT 1 As far as I know never been updated (bought the phone in ebay)
I don't know if there's anything that can be done but get a refund. Sounds like you bought a brick. Was it always a brick?
Did you try another USB port? Try the rear port. If not, try a hard reset: wipe cache and dalvik and factory reset and try to reboot. Long shot would be a hard reset and OB7 update.zip; unless it's completely stock, the update will be rejected. But I'm thinking that can no longer just be placed on external sdcard. That may have to placed on the file system as if the phone downloaded it, itself.
It's safer to hard reset. If not rebooting to normal operation, time to pursue a refund.

So I was thinking about the situation you're in. I recalled the phone can be unlocked to use internationally on 3G only. Is it unlocked? It would also
need to set your carrier APN/Access points to get data.
If you own the phone, Sprint will give you the MSL number. Sprint can help unlock it and there's also this method but I don't know much about about it. There's also the hard reset method that can be done within settings.
Here's a method that was requested with a pledged bounty. But try Sprint first.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/spr...print-samsung-unlocker-unlock-sprint-t2928250
My initial impression was phone is bricked but not sure if a locked phone's WiFi is bound to regional USA that would cause WiFi connection issues? It's still possible the USB issue is not using a USB 2.0 port or a bad cable. It may not be bricked. Try reinstalling driver and/or another PC.

Well I tried everything u mentioned , full factory restore, wipe everything. I even tried update from external (since stock has no option for updating from the internal sd) but i get an error (update from external storage is disabled). I didn't think the root is possible without Odin for either the custom recovery or root.
eBay return practice would be to notify seller of issue. If no response, contact eBay.

Wouldnt the entire phone be soft-bricked (not just the network part) if you did the factory reset and wiped your phone but cant get the cable to recognize your phone on your pc ???
Or is that your current situation?
