I have a Galaxy Note 4 on AT&T that I purchased about a week ago. Everything worked great up until today. I have been successfully using the fingerprint lock to keep my phone locked while I'm at work. Tonight, I unlocked it and went to disable the fingerprint lock, but now the "swipe" and "none" options are greyed out and disabled with "Turned off by administrator, encryption policy or credential storage" and won't allow me to disable it. I have not been tinkering with anything and have no idea how any of that stuff could have been enabled since the phone was just sitting in my desk at work.
So, how do I get that turned off so that I can disable my lock screen when I am at home or away from work?
Thanks!
it seems like you may have enabled other security features like.. encryption which does not allow you to turn off the lock screen.. try disabling these extra protection s

And how would I do that? I'm not seeing anything enabled on my phone. I may be missing something. And again, nothing had been changed from the previous week's use. I enabled the fingerprint lock on it, put the phone in my desk, and left it there. Once I got it back out, I was no longer able to disable the lock. I can unlock the phone, I just can't turn the lock off. Hopefully I'm just missing a setting somewhere and it will be easy to fix.

Well, I somehow managed to figure out the solution. It apparently had something to do with the credential storage. I found the settings for that and had my phone clear the credential storage. After that, I powered my phone off and back on and it started working normally.
Now, the next question. How did some app set credentials to where my screen unlock couldn't be turned off?

Hey fellas, to lock my phone I use the pattern lock, but since yesterday every time I lock the phone with power button or sleeps itself after 2 minutes, it doesn't show me the 'draw pattern screen', just the regular 'slide to unlock'.
So, I go and set the pattern up again, and lock it, it shows the 'draw pattern screen' and only shows once, after I lock the phone again, it won't appear anymore.
I'm using CM6.1.1, obviously rooted phone.
Any help or suggestions? Moderators feel free to move this post to cyanogen's thread if needed. Don't know if this might be a problem of CM itself.
Did you enable any of the quick unlock settings in Cyanogenmod settings? I bet my breakfast (which I already ate, sorry) that its because you need to review those CM settings. In User Input or something or other.
Uncheck all of those settings (that enable quick unlock)
(besides those pattern locks are easily hacked -- with the right light and the right amount of grease from your finger anyone can see your "path to unlock" - Im just sayin!)
Sorry man, that quick unlock feature is definetly not checked, it's under "settings/cyanogenmod settings/input settings", quick unlock not checked.
U owe me a pancake lol.
I dont remember getting creative with locking and unlocking settings, the weirdest thing I did was to install a few themes to the phone. Imma try putting everything to default, and start from there.
I've experienced some unlock and lock issues with cm6 aswell. It seemed as if there are settings that conflict with eachother. What happened to me was I changed it to rotory unlock with lock set to immediately engage on screen off. After changing that it wouldn't lock but the screen would turn off. I had to set it to 1 second and then reboot then it would lock just fine.

What surprises me is that it stopped working for some reason, because I've been using cm6.1.1 for a couple of weeks and worked perfectly..

don't remember where the setting is but it sounds like the time-out setting is not proper, the phone does not lock right away if it is sitting on the table and goes to sleep on it's own but you can set it to do that, i had mine set to 30 seconds so that if the screen turned off while i was waiting for something to download or happen i didn't have to unlock with my pin each time. look through the settings (probably security or cm settings) for the proper tweak, i would give better instructions but i'm currently on miui ROM

Yeah, these settings are found under CM Settings->User Interface (down at the bottom). I don't think these will be the cause though, since the OP said he didn't really mess with any of the settings. Also, I don't think the settings would cause the "Slide to Unlock" screen to appear (the phone would simply turn the screen back on to whatever was last on, no pattern unlock, no lock screen).
Have you installed any new widgets or lockscreen apps recently? Out of curiosity, have you tried any of the other lock types just to see if they do the same thing (like PIN or password).
Hi guys, I've been lurking for a while until I got my GN with tmo plan. So far it's been a great phone coming from an iphone 4, definitely a step up and a different experience.
Anyway, wondering if anyone know how to set up the security settings. I set the auto lock to 30mins with pattern pass, and but as soon as I hit the power button and turn it back on, it ask for my pass. I thought it supposed to unlock immediately? unless I left it "off" for more than 30mins. Is this normal on android or am I missing something?

I think if you lock manually, it locks. You can let screen time out by itself and it will just unlock. I use 1 minute screen timeout and just let it time out by itself if I'm going back to device soon. Screen time out adjustable in addition to security lock.

I don't use the pattern unlock so have never run into this, but I think it might be a logical issue. The pattern lock and various other options are under "Screen Security" and so are basically just screen unlocks. The additional option for the auto lock seems superfluous and illogical, but maybe someone else can shed light on that. I am not sure why the auto lock after screen sleep would be needed if the pattern is already needed to reactivate the screen/disable the screen lock...
hey everyone. I have a question. I searched but didn't see what I was looking for in this phone forum. I got the N2 on Friday, came from the epic touch. I was running Easy Profiles on the e4gt and wanted to use it again on the N2. Well, I am still am for sound changes. But one of the main reasons I use EP is to disable the lock screen when I was at home and enable it when I was not at home. I know jellybean broke EPs capability for this. So... my question is... what else can I use? I don't mind using a widget but the auto changer with EP was awesome! (and once they fix it, I'll go back to that primarily I'm sure) I've tried no lock and no lock screen. neither disable the lock screen. I've tried all 3 apps with my systems settings as slide to lock, lock with pattern and no lock. it's just not doing what I want it to and I'm at a loss. if I set the system lock to any type of lock, no lock and no screen lock wouldn't keep it unlocked when it was engaged. if I changed the system settings to no lock, the 2 apps wouldn't lock it. easy profiles has 2 different options with the lock screen and I've tried multiple variations with that too. does anyone have any suggestions? ideas? apps to try? I am currently downloading a few ROMs to try out but I'm thinking it's a jellybean issue and not a stock rom issue.
I was in the exact same boat and loved EasyProfiles.
I started using Tasker yesterday and checked out: http://tasker.wikidot.com/profile-index
I still at noob at it but managed to disable the pattern keyguard.
Now I think it is a JB limitation but Tasker ability to disable kerguard stops once you chose something in the Notification bar.
Check it out, what they say about it true. Tasker is awesome and I'm only now learning how great it is- like automating talking SMS when in the car. EasyProfiles couldn't do that.
thanks. I'll look into it again. I downloaded it last night but uninstalled because I didn't see what I was looking for and didn't have the brain capacity to figure it out!
Try this for starters:
Profile "Unlock wifi" - State -> Net -> wifi connected
Task "Unlock"- Display -> Keyguard -> off
I used that to work yesterday and will play/learn more today.
Like I said though, accessing the notifications makes it lock again so I toggle the wifi off/on to make Tasker disable keyguard again.
I installed secure settings from the market, disabled everything but pattern lock in it. then went back to easy profiles, set locale app as secure settings and so far it's working.
I'm curious if anyone else has had this issue. I have to enable a PIN or pattern lock to allow a corporate secure wifi network setting to be saved and for something else (I think for my bank app). From the G4 settings it seems like you can set it to NOT lock when turning off with power button (last option), and a 30 minute timeout before it auto-locks. Yet despite that, mine still seems to lock requiring a pattern input and not just a swipe if I leave it on the table for just a minute. What am I missing?
Thanks all!

These settings are under Lockscreen. Right at the end. It should work, unless you have another app controlling locking.
Exactly.. it "should work"... but it isn't. It insist on locking all the time.. Could the fact that I"m connected to said secure WIFI cause that?? (vs just having an entry for it)
You could try going under the setting for Security - Phone administrators. Look if there is something that is controlling phone lock.
I know for my example, I must enable PIN locking, but my phone administrator for that account enables up to 30 minutes before forcing lock. So as long as I uncheck the setting for "Lock phone immediately on power button," my phone will immediately be unlocked within a 30 minute window where I don't need to enter my PIN.

Right, that's what I'm going for / expecting. I have 3 in there, Android Device Manager, Support & Protection (Verizon thing it looks like) and AirDroid. Only Android Device Managers is checked ON. ADM can obviously affect the lock screen and can change the lock password, but I don't see anything else which would affect this timeout being ignored. hmmmm
(Thanks, BTW!)
I was looking at my Smart Lock section and read the blurb about On-body detection, which was the only Smart Lock I had enabled. It says "Just unlock once and your device stays unlocked as long as you keep holding your device or carry it on you." .... "Your device will lock when it detects that it's been set down"..!! So, I've now turned on-body detection OFF as, in this case, it's working against me. Seems it's not too well integrated with the other options (ignores the Security Lock Timer).
If I don't post back, it's probably working as hoped.
Disabling on-body detection has definitely solved my issue with the G4 locking shortly after setting it down on the desk.

Hello,
I have an unlocked HTC 10 and have noticed over the past few months that on occasion, the password protection is turned off. I have a password set up as well as the fingerprint reader and both work well. But every so often, I'll notice that the lock key is unlocked on the lock screen and I can swipe up without having to use my fingerprint or type in a password. This is not secure and is a glitch that needs to be fixed. I checked through all of my security settings and cannot find anything that could be causing the issue. Smart Lock is only enabled for my car and my home. I notice this unlocked lock screen when I'm at work so it's not related to that. Trusted voice, face, and on-body detection are all off. The only way I can get the phone to be locked again and require my fingerprint or password is to restart the device. The issue still persists with the new Android 7.0 update as well.
Anyone else notice this issue? Any suggestions?
Thank you
