Hi there,
sorry I couldn't figure it out via the search function. I heard about battery drain issues with lollipop on the z1 compact. Which firmware should I use if I want to root my device Should I use Kitkat rooted or go for Lolipop?
Thanks a lot in advance
Anyone?
nobody can tell you which rom is better.
it depends on your personal preferences.
Try them out and decide by yourself
I prefer the following ROMs --> look at my signature
thanks for replying, so battery drain seems not to be an issue. cheers

for now I prefer this kk 14.4.A.0.157
I prefer this kk 14.4.A.0.108. This rom give my Z1c the best battery life at all.
Running 14.5.A.0.242 and it is excellent, after a factory reset.
Firmware w/ ART
So I got rooted stock 4.4.A.0.108 atm. However, I realized that it doesn't offer ART as compiler. Does Sony's LP provide ART as compiler? I'm hoping for a much better input lag with ART (for realtime audioapps).
Do I understand correctly that flashing lollipop will force ART. Anyone with experience regarding input lag and Art?

Lolipop works with ART, there's no Dalvik VM in LP.

ACE ONE bug
Hi,
I am a junior member and I am not allowed to post in the development thread, so I am PMing you the bug I found.
The bug is in settings, no matter what I change, like Network modes, display settings, the moment I go back and return all settings will be set to default.
I mean no change is registered.
I had selected xperia theme and launcher. I fixed the wifi bug, rest all is working fine.
is it a bug in the launcher or is it in rom ?
Kindly reply to me asap, as I am on a international tour next week, I need a stable rom while I travel.

is current xperia z1c lollipop still have memory leak issue ?
I used lollipop for 2 days already. and it always restart my game (minimized to background) after I open browser to use google (yeah only 2 recent apps displayed. chrome and game apps).
I hate this because my game need long time and heavy bandwidth at loading screen. I never get this problem when I used kitkat. I heard there's xposed module to fix this memory leak issue but my phone isnt rooted.
or is there a way to return to default OS (kitkat) like when I first bought it ? maybe I'll do this way. reset it to kitkat again. but I dont know how.
thanks.
You can flash stock kitkat with flashtool. I should have stock EU . 157 rom somewhere on my pc and can upload it if you want.
Flashing stock rom is pretty easy. Watch a tutorial or something. I can help you a bit more when back home.
Back to your question. I have no idea I'm still running kitkat as L is still not available in my country.

is it working to use your stock rom at my country ? I thought different country have different kind of rom. not sure about this if this is true or not.
flashing stock rom doesnt need root access, right ? and maybe can I also backup current lollipop OS that I have so I can reflash it when it has been fixed ?.
so far what I like from lollipop is when someone call me, I can still use other app because call notification only use small box on top of my current running app. I like this feature very much.
It depends where do you live. If in EU it should be fine. If not I can find a rom good for your location.
No, flashing custom rom does not require rooted device.
I think you don't have to do the backup as you'll be able to just update it again ( at least I think so)

Yes. But you dont have to backup the OS. You can download the Firmware using the XperiaFirm Tool >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/cro...xperifirm-xperia-firmware-downloader-t2834142

wow this is nice info. I've just tried using that xperiafirm tool and it shows my country firmware.
Generally you can root your phone without unlocking bootloader. It worked for me, at least on kitkat. I'm not sure what about the Lollipop though.
You should better ask someone else too as I'm not as experienced and don't want to give you false info.
But if there's pre-rooted rom here and it's working for android L you don't have to unlock bootloader to flash it.

okay I can get lollipop with root+xposed (all day tried this. I read some tutorial how to do it properly because this is my 1st time doing something like this. so tired ). although I dont know if xposed wont work perfectly like you said because I only use 3 modules so far. App Settings (keep screen on for game I'm playing) and Fix Lollipop Memory Leak and gravitybox (LP).
what I've done :
- downloaded kitkat 14.4.A.0.157 from XperiFirm. and flashed it using flashtool.
- I've realized .0157 can't be rooted for now. so I've used your link that you gave (Root FW 14.4.A.0.157 (LB/UBL) ).
- after get root access, then I installed recovery using Z1C-lockeddualrecovery2.8.11-RELEASE.installer.zip from http://nut.xperia-files.com/
- after that I flashed 14.5.A.0.242_CustomizedFR_Pre-Rooted_Dualrecovery 2.8.10 + Fix Xposed for Lollipop using recovery.
- and flashed Massive debloating and Xposed. links and procedure are also from that pre-rooted rom thread.
so far, no bootloop. dont know if I add some xposed modules again. I heard it will get bootloop if too many xposed modules is installed (?)

Xposed worked perfectly in KK. I tried more than five modules at a time without the bootloop issue. What I fear is the LP. Havent you checked the dev/Q&A thread of the modules?

Hey there, the XperiFirm dev here.
No one answered your question so I will. The answer is: No.
Sony made sure to include the memory leak fix built in (the exact fix that the Xposed module offers) for their Lollipop releases. The Xposed module is pointless.
See attached screenshot. Basically the Xposed module replaces the AOSP function with exactly the same function but with this additional "release()" line. As you can see, Xperia already has this line included.

wow thanks to coming here :victory:
lol. so it's pointless to install that module because they are same thing exactly. time to uninstall.
actually my game is still restarted after I browsing a little. although I still see a lot of free memory in here. before, I thought this is because of that memory leak issue but I'm wrong.
if only there's module that can prevent lollipop refresh/restart/clear my game at memory when I minimized it at background.
I have the same problem, only with audio apps in the background. Pocket Casts, Stitcher and BeyondPod all crash and stop playing when running in the background, after I do something else like load the game Threes. This never used to happen with KitKat. I've also noticed that iplayer radio gets very jerky and skips back and forth by a quarter of a second continuously as soon as I turn off the screen. [edit - I just listened to it for a few minutes with the screen off and it suddenly cut out. I turned the screen on an the app was no longer in my notifications tray]
If Sony fixed this particular memory leak, what's going wrong with my phone? Could it be related to the fact that I've encrypted if for the first time? I'm getting desperate enough to consider factory resetting and losing everything, because listening to podcasts and playing threes is one of my favourite activities. It's not a demanding game for my year old, top of the line phone. My cheap tablet manages it, and so did the phone on KitKat!
Hello!
I have all the firmware downloaded on my computer and still not know which is the most stable of all. Could anyone help me? I will leave it up to the Sony version 5.1.1 available.
Thanks! :good:
can anybody help?
all the firmware downloaded!! I don't think you even know what you mean by stable. So just use what came from the factory if you must have the most stable of all !! or use what you like, YOUR CHOICE!

I'm searching for the best features followed by O.S.
Original and primary ROM is 4.1.2, but it wasn't some basic apps which I need (album, walkman, movie). I want a O.S. which contains long battery life, graphics ok, games ok, no lagging...
Meanwhile, I'm using 4.4.4 10.5.1.A.0.283
I have used 5.0.2 version. The Phone is managing better memory, and this version came with all apps that you told.

after update to 5.0.2, the volume came too low, Walkman/Music lost important features (xLoud, unique ClearAudio+), stamina does not function correctly, battery drains 10% per hour while using Facebook and WhatsApp sometimes. But the UI performance is awesome! Some games starts to lag, but not all.
It's been almost a month since the mm has released for this device. Me being a d855 user was wondering that why there aren't any debloated, zip aligned and all those kinda feature added ROMs based on stock available yet. I mean when lollipop repressed we had hundreds of stock based ROMs which were much faster than the crappy slow stock by LG directly.
If there exists so and if I failed to see it, please let Me know.
If there are any specific reasons why not, please share as answer to this query.

Yes I agree there are not vast amounts like on lollipop but I think more are in the pipeline after all it's only been about a month since the update .

Battery life is good for me.. Wifi always on and browsing internet.. Listen music 2h at 6% it's sot 4h 14min.. Usage on battery 19h 29min... Not bad:good: and i am heavy user. This rom is speedy and smooth
I still get lots of use out of my SM-P600, but I'm hitting a bit of a problem with free space.
I use OneNote combined with the S-pen as my note-taking combo of choice and I have extensive notes. OneNote doesn't have the ability to save notebooks to the external SD card and I work offline a lot, so can't readily open/close notebooks from the cloud. The point is, I'm now struggling a bit for free space on the device.
My newest phone (Android 6.0.1) has the ability to 'integrate' external sd memory into the main device memory.
Is that a firmware feature, or is it hardware?
Would upgrading my P600's firmware give me this functionality and let me have a lot more space to play with?
If so, what ROM upgrade should I use?
Sorry if these are stupid questions, but a pointer in the right direction would be much appreciated.
Thanks in anticipation.
John
If you are interested in rooting and installing Xposed framework, there is an Xposed module called XInternalSd that you can use.
That said, if you aren't familiar with the risks of root, xposed, flashing, etc, be sure to read up on it all a bit first.
Xda module thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/xposed-disablesignaturecheck-t2789267
Xposed module page: http://repo.xposed.info/module/com.pyler.xinternalsd
Good luck, and I hope this helps!
G'day John
Both Marshmallow & Nougat have the ability to integrate the sd as internal memory but you may need to install a custom ROM to achieve this. This will most likely involve you losing data. I'm a novice myself but so I am happy to lose data and reformat and start fresh, but there may be utilities to back up such things.
i recently installed Lineage OS myself but a host of issues so I then went the AOSP build and I am really happy with that, if you want to know how to do that I am happy to help.
Thanks kypreo,
I wasn't sure if it was a default feature or custom to certain suppliers, so that's good to know.
Also good to hear that some builds have issues and are, perhaps, to be avoided.
I've had a bit of a clear-out of some less-used apps, so the pressure's off a little. But I may well go down the AOSP route you suggest.

I went down that route and so far so good, sometimes its just dumb luck. To alleviate some file issues use an app called cc cleaner to ease off some system files to give you some breathing room. You can also move off app data on apps onto the SD card as well. just be aware once the apps update they go back to the internal storage sometimes so you will need to move them again.
Another reason as to why I went to a custom ROM.

Hi mate
Sorry for the delay, please see links below:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...om-android-source-project-19-11-2016-t3503423 (rom gapps)
https://gapps4android.wordpress.com/2016/03/20/gapps-package-comparison-which-to-choose/ ( a guide to select which gapps to use)
Be aware you need to root the original rom and install TWRP 3.0.0 aqnd above. Install the AOSP rom but do not reboot, install Gapps because if you reboot you lose TWRP and won't be able to install Gapps. I had to go to the original and do it from scratch.
