Hello,
So yesterday I got a note 2 that I wiped clean with factory reset and clear caches through the (Restart, hold down volume up, home and power button method).
I did not realize there were photos on the device that i needed to save before the format. What can i do? Its extremely important and must find a solution as soon as possible.
Thanks guys, you rock!

you can try to restore data, but don't do anything on your phone. Search for apps on google or play store. I don't know how android formats storage, but on hdd I have restored a lot of data.

I have a Wildfire S someone was just looking to get rid of. I'd like to try and set this up for my son to use, but it has a lock screen code and I've no way of directly contacting the previous owner.
I'd like to know the easiest way to just wipe the phone and factory reset it so I can try it out and see if it's going to work for me. I may try rooting/ROMing later, but right now I just want to wipe all their data etc. and just get it back to a factory reset state. If the easiest way to get this thing wiped is to root it and install a ROM I'd be find with that as well. (I don't have any experience tinkering with HTC phones).
Thanks for any help. I tried searching and wasn't able to find anything and there's no stickies I could find on the subject (If I missed an obvious guide I apologize).

you can directly factory reset it.
remove battery and again install it.then hold volume down and power button.
then you can see bootloader menu, and with help of volume keys select factory reset option and press power button.it might help to reset your phone directly.

Awesome - thanks - I was trying holding down Vol Up and Vol Down + PWR which is the way it's always been with Samsung phones.
I can use "adb reboot recovery" to enter TWRP 2.7 recovery mode, but I want to use key combination, please tell me how to that.
Hold Power + Vol Down > Wait until LG Logo pops up and release from both buttons > quickly hold Power + Vol Up + Vol Down again
It will pop up with some message about reset to factory settings, but it's all a bluff.
Hit Power x3 times to confirm and you'll get to TWRP recovery
Thanks, it works.
actually I enter this factory reset mode before, but i just don't know it a "fake".
so will this erase all data or not?

That will depend on whether you've installed TWRP or not.
If you've still got the original recovery it will wipe it like it says it will, if you've got a custom recovery it will take you to it.
The standard recovery isn't a recovery like you're expecting it to be, if just has a way of resetting things to default without allowing you to do anything extra. OEM don't like giving people options but want a way to reset to defaults that the customer can use before needing to return a faulty unit which might not be faulty. If that makes sense.

Thought I'd lost recovery after flashing the lp rom. Sorry for the bump! Many thanks and lol at the 'bluff' factory reset!

From what I can tell, it's not a "bluff". It seems that the stock recovery partition would just automatically do a factory reset, so it warns you before booting the recovery partition. Seeing as you're non-stock, it just boots into TWRP/CWM. It's a valid warning that's simply set up in a weird way.

You don't.
We'll you might be able to but you're going about it the wrong way.
First you need to find the right forum for your device, then you read, followed by more reading.
At some point you've hopefully discovered that you should have done all this reading before you reset your device.
Also before pressing the post button on your next post, read it first to make sure it makes sense.
Thank you very much, I tried other combinations found on some web pages that failed. This one worked!
Issue remains.

I got myself in a pretty bad situation. I have the stock rom. I am trying to get that back using recovery but it's not working. Only factory reset screen. This tablet stopped working in 2015. It cannot write ANY data ANYWHERE. Can't take pics, Can't take screenshots, Can't download apps. Nothing. I really want my tablet back... :/

I'm probably not the best person to help, however if you put a new post up with more details on what you have access too, the community will be able to help out.

Install LG software on your computer first. Then with the tablet completely off, hold VolUp and plug the tablet into the computer. That will enter LG download mode. Use the LG software on your PC to install the latest firmware available for your device. From there you can use the guides on this forum to go custom if you so desire.
Actually no loop, just sit on first screen then screen off. :crying:
Only thing i want is photos back from internal storage, anyway to do? Rooted already
Rooted by: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=62075670&postcount=381
lg recovery mode seems not work in my device.
Recovery mode: Hold Power+volume till Lg logo then release all and hold power+volume again
Help! Bring it to fix, no data will remain
No chance to even recall data.

Just wipe everything in recovery but don't wipe internal storge if you use cwm then just select option. Install new rom
Why are your photos only stored on internal storage? I guess people only value their data when they can no longer access it. Shame that people don't care enough for their data to back it up.
About a month ago I shut my G8 down overnight while I charged it. The next morning when I pushed the power button to to turn it back on it would not turn on. I kept pushing the power button trying to get it to power up. After about 10 minutes of no luck my wife found info on line to hold the volume down and power button to force it to boot up. I did that and it started back up, but like an idiot I did a power down and restart to see if the phone fixed it's self, which it did not so I had to do the volume down & power button to get it to boot back up. A few week later when I forgot about the start up issue I powered down the phone and when I went to boot it back up it would not work with out doing the volume down & power button. So I started looking online for other people with the same issues and one forum I read suggested to get in to the recovery menu and wipe the cache. When I did that I got a screen saying error with an image of an android laying down, then the phone booted up. the only operation issue I have notice with the phone is it seem like the battery is draining a little faster since this issue started. I had the same startup and cache wipe issue when I tried it today. I am running stock software (G820UM10h) with October 2019 security software, Phone is not rooted. Does any one have any idea of what it is doing?

Go to settings, search backup, use the LG backup. Then connect to computer with file transfer (which should be automatic) then navigate to the LG BACKUP folder and move the file in it to your desktop. After resetting, move it back in to the LG BACKUP folder and restore from settings. I know it sounds complicated, but it really isn't; you only have to click like 4 buttons

Thank you for this. It save me a ton of time setting my phone back up!
Since the update my galaxy z fold 3 doesn't play sound full screen or I cant hear anything out of my speakers unless I fold the phone anyone know how to fix this I installed the Software again and it didn't work I'm completely clueless on this factory reset it and nothing I know its a software error also when i open the phone the screen sometimes is just pure black any ideas or suggestions id greatly apricate it
Try this:
Clean cache in recovery modeTo clean the cache in Recovery mode, follow the steps below:
Power OFF the phone
Press at the same time Volume up + power button
release the volume button when your Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 vibrates
Navigate with the volume buttons, find Wipe Cache Partition , confirm with the power button
Choose Yes
Then find Reboot system now
This is where you can do a factory reset as well (Wipe Data). However, I would start with wiping the Cache (twice) and see how things work. Last resort, Wipe Data and reset, but be sure to back everything up!
^ Try that suggestion first. It's meant to reset everything so the phone starts fresh, like out of the box.
If that doesn't work, reach out to Sammy/your carrier about the warranty.
