Recovery mode: Hold Power+volume till Lg logo then release all and hold power+volume again
Help! Bring it to fix, no data will remain
No chance to even recall data.

Just wipe everything in recovery but don't wipe internal storge if you use cwm then just select option. Install new rom
Why are your photos only stored on internal storage? I guess people only value their data when they can no longer access it. Shame that people don't care enough for their data to back it up.

The other day some water was spilled on my Desire and now it is stuck in a bootloop. The device is rooted, but I cannot access recovery menu to wipe. I can access the initial boot menu by holding start and volume down. Is there another way to do a factory reset?

Hmm what happens when you scrol down in the initial boot menu and select recovery ??
In hboot menu you can use CLEAR STORAGE by navigating down with volume down button.
Thanks for your answers. In the initial boot menu I do not see factory reset, only Clear Storage, which I tried to no avail. If I scroll down and choose Recovery it sends me into a bootloop again. I have since last post tried to flash an official Ruu from the Shipped Rom thread via HTC Sync, but so far I have not found one that works, which is strange. Should not anyone work? I get an error message each time. Any other suggestions?
Sorry, I meant CLEAR STORAGE. If even this does not work, you should go back to stock.
Thanks.
I managed to push a Ruu and the phone is booting now! However, I believe the water damaged the phone. My SD card is not recognized and it freezes from time to time. We'll just have to see if it is usable.
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

Well, i wanted to restore my backed up rom, i went to twrp and restored the rom without wiping data, dalvik cache ect. it went to boot loop saying " setup wizard stopped " after reaching lockscreen and went booting again.. then i found a way to go to recovery again, i wiped the cache and stuff and restored the same back up and the same problem now no change, now i cant go inside custom recovery whatever i try.. :/ . will i be able to go to recovery after the battery is drained?
or u know a method to go inside recovery?
Have you tried holding the volume down button down when the screen goes blank? This will get you into the bootloader. You can also hold power and volume up and when the screen goes blank hold volume down only.

How long did you hold it for? You have to hold the buttons for a good ten seconds or so. You're saying the screen never goes black for a few seconds between loops?

thank u, it worked but now when i flash there is no on screen buttons and notifications at all and im stuck with 1 rom :/
the computer does not recognize my device as "on" itself!!
what to do plz help
Connect SD card reader to your computer and use it to put a ROM on removable SD. Insert the SD into the phone, and flash the ROM from recovery.
I also just came over this problem,
I've been using TWRP on all my phones for years and constantly flashing/restoring various roms.
Did I do something wrong?
I backed up using the default options and restored the same way as I always do but I had the same issue.

Make sure you firmware corresponds to the nandroid you are trying to restore.
But if they do match (correct firmware for the ROM being restored) it might just be a random thing. TWRP on this (and other recent devices like my Sammy Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4) seems a little less reliable than in the past. As long as your TWRP version is up to date, there isn't much else you can do. Except maybe keep a few different nandroids (probably on your computer, since they take so much space) in case the most recent one doesn't restore correctly.
Thanks for the reply. I also tried installing the exact same ROM again and set it up, then tried to restore but still the same problem. Thanks anyway I'll maybe try another backup and delete the old one. Thanks again
If you're restoring a ROM through the TWRP restore function make sure you always wipe always wipe data and system before restoring unless you're only restoring data or just system itself. Then only wipe that certain parition. But never restore a backup of another ROM base onto a different base without installing the ROM you are restoring first. That will cause a lot of issues, constant FC, and bootloop.
From a full power off, how do I boot into stock recovery? I've tried multiple button configurations and none work.
EDIT:
I called T-Mobile and they said:
1. Power off
2. Press and hold the Vol - and Power button until the LG boot screen appears.
3. Release the Power button ONLY. Do not release the Vol - button.
4. After 1 second, press and hold the power button again. You should see the white recovery screen.
Use the Vol+/- to navigate and Power to select.
This brought up a Factory data reset menu on my H815.
Brings up factory reset on T-mo version H-811
That is the LG factory recovery.
thank you this worked
With a Verizon model, I had to keep holding both Power and Vol - until the recovery screen appeared. If I released and then re-held Power, as described above, it did not work.
When I hold down power and vol down, it boots to an IMEI display screen. It shows a long barcode. Can't get to recovery with the hold, release and hold down again the power and volume down buttons. Frustrating.
I love you so much right now. It boots into what appears to look like a default LG G4 factory reset page. For me, i clicked reset, and then yes, and surprisingly it brought me to where i wanted to go. TWRP Recovery.
THANK YOU!!!

Your comment just saved me from doing a complete factory reset!
I never clicked "Yes" in the Factory Reset phone option because I thought it would do just that. Instead it took me to TWRP!!

The difference was that you have twrp recovery and he didn't. The question pops for both, but for those that have the original recovery it will do the factory reset.
worked
worked for me, but the first screen is the one where it ask if i want to factory reset, i had to pick YES, then again confirm, and then i was in TWRP

And I get a factory reset as well on my H811, even though TWRP was already installed and working on the recovery partition.
Something else funny going on, the OS seems to kill TWRP after the next one or two boots tho. Maybe I need to set the TWRP option to allow change of the system partition to read/write? (Since apparently it writes something there that prevents the OS from killing the custom recovery after it's been installed)

I've learned a lot with LG phones over the past few weeks.
The biggest thing is.. when you first flash over TWRP, you HAVE to reboot into recovery before you try rebooting the system, or else the bootloader will overwrite the TWRP install and replace it with the factory recovery.img. (You probably already know this.) To make sure it boots into TWRP first, since fastboot doesn't have a "reboot-recovery" command.. I just pull the battery then do the button combination to boot directly into TWRP. Doing this allowed me to say "YES" to the question "Do you want to factory reset the phone".
I don't know how many times I've wiped my phone because of this:
1. flash TWRP.
2. reboots (tries to hold the finger combo but failed - and didn't know it)
3. gets asked question - "do you want to factory reset the phone"
4. I hit YES expecting it to take me to TWRP - but instead it wipes the phone and puts stock recovery back on.
Just do this:
1. flash TWRP.
2. PULL THE BATTERY
3. Use finger combo to boot recovery.
4. When asked "do you want to factory reset the phone" - hit YES
5. TWRP boots in like 5 seconds.
This has worked now for my G4 and my V10 since they both have this issue. The V20 however does not (my current phone) - so hopefully LG is done with this crap!!
Good luck!

What was happening on my H811 was that it was either corrupting the recovery partition afterwards or just invalidating it or something because instead of getting back the stock recovery, I'd get the scary "broken robot" screen when trying to boot into recovery.

The technique I've learned to appreciate (which apparently is a new thing, and is now the suggested method for installing via fastboot according to the twrp.me website) is to load a copy of TWRP into RAM to do the flashing and rebooting. ("fastboot boot [TWRP_IMAGE_NAME]")
I try to avoid battery pulls as much as possible but I have never relied on them on a phone the way I have done over the last week (just had my G4 for about a week now) due to these funky mechanisms that LG has for getting into recovery/bootloader/download mode.

TBH I am fearful of even trying it now. (Especially since I just read about how a nandroid backup done from TWRP doesn't backup anything on the /data partition, either.. )
Which makes me even more appreciative of LineageOS's "advanced reboot" power button menu. :good:
One of the problems in my view with this LG system is that it can be very difficult to reliably press both the power and volume at the same time on this phone due to it's unusual placement of those buttons. Much harder than on a phone with those buttons on opposite sites of the device. Not to mention this silly "press both these, then release one, then 1s later press that one again" stuff.
And due to the way they designed these sequences, which among other things often have no way to easily escape them (can you imagine having this on a phone with a non-removable battery?? ), but worse, have defaults that progress to another state without any user interaction (because of the limitations of this control logic - eg, if you boot to bootloader but can't escape and don't do anything in 2 minutes, the device automatically reboots), I personally have to wonder if this doesn't make a significant contribution to the infamous bootloop issues that lots of people are having with recent LG's like the G4, G5, V20, etc.

Thanks.
I've Asus Zenfone 2. Rooted and Lineage Os
My phone battery was low and got switched off, I charged it up and turned on the power but this time it got stuck on Lineage os Loading Logo and won't start.
Also Entering Recovery is impossible, by pressing keys there's no vibration and phone won't start in recovery
The normal power button works.
The issue being, even if my phone is dead or anything I just need my internal memory. it contains important files that i really need along with my contacts or whatsapp offline backup
I need help ASAP
All i need is my internal memory and if possible my phone in working condition.
Help !!
Can you explain how this happened?
YES

You can try dirty flashing (flashing without doing any wipes) the same rom you have on the phone now. Then see if it boots.

I don't think there is one to force it to power off, I think there's only one to force it to reboot which is POWER + VOL DOWN (held down for a few seconds) on the A5, it's probably the same on the A3. Then immediately as the screen turns off you have to switch to the key combination for download mode or recovery. If if you just release the keys it will try and boot normally.

thx!! im in download mode now
Im in Recovery now. When i try to wipe it says it cant mount /data, /cache, etc.
Also Restore doesnt work because of this. I tried to Repair. System seems to be repaired, but /data fails to repair. Also unable to repair cache.
What to do?
(needless to say i first flashed the correct Recovery )
In Windows Explorer i see only external sd
Somehow i seemed to fix /data en /system. But not cache and dalvik.
I restored a nandroid backup and it boots until LOS animation now. But there its stuck. (but at least i passed Android logo now)
Installation passed pretty good, only in the end it said cache wasnt mounted.
Any ideas?
alright no clue how but its fixed now lol
