[Q] Zenfone 2 battery on 2 GB version? - ZenFone 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

There seems to be some problems with poor battery life on the 4 GB version. What about the 2 GB version? What's the battery life on that? Can I expect 2 days of usage?

what version the 551... 2gb or 550 ml 2gb? they the same 1.8 ghz. but different resolutions... i have the 550 ml, actually im on test mode specifically standby mode, my normal usage...ill post pictures when batterys out im now on my 2nd day...still 74%.....

Phone radio draining battery?

I have been running cleanrom ace 4.6.1 for a few days now with no problem. I flashed the latest saber kernal today and now I am noticing in my Gsam battery stats that my phone radio is basically on all the time and using up battery.
I am sorry I can't give you any facts about how much battery since I just noticed it but I don't see any reason why this would be on. I haven't made any adjustments to the cpu speed or voltage or anything in regards to the new kernal.
I have searched the internet and come up empty handed. I don't recall my phone radio being on most of the time before and I have good signal.
Thanks for any help
Hey go down one to clean rom ace 4.5 and flash the kernel and battery life is amazing even with a little over clocking mine lasts 2days and is at 10% on the second day with pretty heavy use so yea give it a try and I have no radio problems

10% at the end of the second day.

okay, thanks for the reply. I might just do that after screwing around with the new kernel I flashed earlier today. I am trying a few things out.
I have to do some research to figure out what file I need that would be the kernel file. I haven't attempted to look it up yet, but I will.

Battery problem

Its drain battery about 25% in one hour! Look at the screenshot.
I'm using xxmf1 and I have about 2months old device.

Thank you gonna try this.
And you will get slow device. Not this way. On standard battrry and 200/800 performance/deadline I have 2x better score. Reflash OS.

Try to calibrating your battery...

You should tell what is your flash history
35 minutes screen on and 75% battery isnt too bad by the way

try reduce brightness if u dont need ie. you are in house

Never flash dodgy soft for example battery calibrate unless u know what u doing

My flash history is GB(LL2) -> MB2 (with pit file= repart.) -> mc8 BTU -> sakuradroid cm10 (be_02b) -> xxmf1 and stuck at bootanimation which repeat again and again then -> re-flash mc8 BTU and then -> xxmf1.
Screen brightness is about 40% so I can't reduce it.
OP look to my battery thread. (from begining!)
1stly Forget calibration- Enough said
2ndly The problems with your battery drains are: Screen is too high on 51% try lowering your brightness a little. And the second problem is 3G in combination with facebook and browser.
up: bull..it
I have brightnes allways 100% with 3g ,fb, 2x email , and torrent and I have better score 2x. He have propably problems with OS or battery but Android sometimes have battery life like that and this is normal.
From 100% can go down to 90% very fast and then slower...look on overal battery score and try another rom

[Q] Is my AnTuTu Benchmark crazy?

Hey guys.
2 months ago, I did an AnTuTu benchmark test on my phone and got 1,500. I got depressed because most Wildfire S get around 1.8k.
But 2 hours ago, I flashed a new rom (iH8ra!n's CM 10.1) and did another test. Here's what I got: 3048.
Now, my question something wrong? A change of rom couldn't have doubles the score could it? I mean this is ridiculous. Although during the test with my previous rom I couldn't see a few animations or whatever that appears during the test.

what you have said could happy if your former rom is rather lower. after flashing, the scores can be double.

could you try AnTuTu V4.0? and do screenshot for me?
it because newer driver for adreno chip
you'll notice that the jumped score is 2D/3D score
my wfs score > 3600 in stock rom and stock clock 600MHz, but with newer adreno library.

1.8 or 2.3

Hi just wondering what's the big difference between 1.8 and 2.3 just wondered as is it worth buying the 2.3 if I got the 1.8 thank you

Depends on what you plan to do with the device. If you are going to use it for some high end gaming (Gameloft, Ubisoft, etc.) then yes, the extra .5Ghz will help increase the frame rate.
For normal use (web browsing, flappy bird, etc) there wont be much performance difference.
Not really much a gamer

The 1.8Ghz should work fine for you then. It can run the simple stuff with no problem.
Sent from my ASUS_Z00AD using XDA Free mobile app
The 1.8GHz version might even have better battery life because of that and because it powers half the RAM.
The cpu is quite powerful so most the time the phone runs at lowest frequency step of 500MHz anyway.
I have the 2.3GHz version but I'm actually running my phone capped at 1.8GHz anyway to see if battery life difference is significant.
I have the the ze551ml variant with 1.8 cpu and 4gb ram. I think that the device run smoothly also with heavy games.. and you have the advantage of lower consumption of battery...

Did you limit your frequency at 1.8? How so? Don't you need a custom kernel for that?

No, you don't need a custom kernel. I use Kernel Adiutor app.

Later edit: Oh, I was actually looking to overclock the CPU at 2.5GHz, let the min at 300Mhz and play with the gorvernor. I do need a custom kernel for this (for the frequencies).

You need a custom kernel only for overclocking. The stock kernel has limits built in. As long as you stay in these (usually stock clock is max), you don't need one. The actual clock speed limits are written in a file which you can even change manually (needs obviously root). For example:
Code:
/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/cpuinfo_min_freq
/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/cpuinfo_max_freq
/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/cpuinfo_cur_freq
cpu0/cpu1/cpu2/... are the different cores.

so any significant improvement to batt life when running at max 1.8?

No, not really. The CPU is pretty beastly and usually runs at the lowest frequency step of 500MHz or the next step up (583MHz) anyways.
It rarely goes above the minimum speed except for touch events (when frequency will be temporarily boosted in anticipation of activity) and heavy usage like Web video streaming, gaming etc.
I haven't seen any performance degradation with my games and emulators at 1.8GHz vs 2.3GHz.
So overall the battery savings aren't dramatic and really not so noticeable except for heavy usage anyway like gaming. I also have the touchboost capped at 1GHz from the stock speed of 1.33GHz. Again, not huge differences but just little things that add up.
As I said, the CPU is already beastly and efficient. It's really the older screen tech used for display sourcing that has the most impact to battery life.

i have asus zenonfe 2 ze551 ml = ASUS_Z00AD = Atom Z3580 2.3 Ghz, RAM 4 Gb, ROM 32 Gb
i just want overclock the GPU PowerVR G6430
default = 533 Mhz = 136.4 Gflops
OC = +25 - 31 % = 666 - 700 Mhz = 170.5 - 179 Gflops = Equal like Adreno 418 (600 Mhz) on Snapdragon 808 = 172.8 Gflops
can that posible just like Atom Z3570 = GPU clock = +20 % = 163.8 Gflops
how i can do that (please step by step) ?
thank you verry much

Looking for Pie Roms

What Pie OS are you using and why? I'm looking for something stable and with decent-good battery, like 5-6h screen-on time. There are lot of roms but I want to hear from users. Thanks for any suggestion!

I'm using Mokee ROM. The performance and accu is very smooth and good, stable and without any issues and lags. But SElinux isn't active.
Actually im using CaF Pixel Experience and i can said this is the best rom. SoT 5h very smooth, 0 freezes or random resets. Mokee have 2 minuses, no SeLinux and battery suck so much i get maximally 3h SoT.
