I picked up a i927 from ebay. The phone seems to be in excellent condition but the WiFi range is very short unlike my i897. Bluetooth seem to be fine. I'm on ICS UCLJ3. Anyone else having this issue?
Thanks
Darn... I found this post and seems to have helped a lot installing this kernel. If anyone has any other suggestion or feed back would be great.

I've got problems with the wifi range on this kernel. My access point is just two steps away and I only get one bar, 2 if I'm lucky. Going to another room will cause me to lose the signal altogether. Also, I'm getting random freezes. Any suggestions on the minimum and maximum states?
I'm expecting a few important calls over the next few days, so until then I will be on the stock kernel. BTW, if anyone has the stock kernel as a CWM flashable I would love to have it. Saves me having to switch through nandroid backup and restores! In that case I could continue testing this kernel outside of work hours.

Greetings folks. I'm a soon-to-be owner of a GS2 and I currently own an old Samsung Moment. One issue with rooting the moment, is that with the latest roms, the GPS is either not working or lost a significant amount of accuracy.
When I get my GS2 I'm planning on rooting it and putting on one of the delicious roms on offer here. My question is, has anyone experienced any issues with the GS2 GPS after rooting or applying one of the custom roms. This is a big deal for me as I travel a lot and would love to have great GSP functionality.
Thank you in advance for your feedback.
GPS works great with both stock rooted and custom roms.

Thank you, good to hear.
I haven't had any.

I had a Vibrant (Galaxy S) and it would only lock on outside and took about a minute. Now with the S2, it locks on in the house, and only takes about 10 secs to get a postion. Both stock and rooted.

my previous reply to the same topic here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19259880&postcount=7
I have not had any issues before or after rooting my SGS2
No problems here...ROOTED on STOCK ROM
Hi, I rooted and GPS is not working now. No GPS icon visible at all, forget satellites being visible the GPS icon itself does not turn on by the looks of it. I should warn that its not clear that the problem was seen due to Rooting or happened already before as i brought the phone over from Japan and rooted to remove the SIM lock so wasn't using the GPS worked in UK till after rooting it. I had used the GPS in Japan and it worked fine.
I am inclined to think HW fault here due to number of forums on this with no solution and some warranty claims are just replacing without asking, if anyone has any other suggestion then do let me know ..
BTW: I have not changed any ROM's or reflashed, and also have cleared the cache using GPS status app, problem seems to be that GPS is not turning on at all.
I just bought a new GNexus yesterday. The store has a 3-day return policy so I'm pressed for time to verify some of the problems my unit has.
1.) I have a weak wifi signal. My phone is currently using the XXK6 modem. I read the reviews and most people are saying that signal quality got better using that modem. However, I'm just 4ft. away from the router and it's not giving me a full bar. How can I verify if this is a hardware problem/defect or just a software bug?
(I used to own an S2 and my wifi was at full bars at the same distance and same router.)
2.) Does Android 4.04 fix the low volume problem? And how can I verify if my low speaker volume is a hardware defect/problem?
Thanks guys!
1) I'm having the exact same problem. WiFi signal is very weak and sometimes drops but quickly picks up again. I asked the exact same question before, but I didn't get any useful feedbacks aside from flashing my router with DD-WRT.
2) If you are talking about the low volume problem on the external speaker, then unfortunately no. However you can use an app called Volume+ to solve this problem. The app can bump your volume up by a significant amount.
Hope this helps
Thanks! For the second question, the only solution I found here was to install volume+ as well. I'm just worried it might be a hardware defect with my unit.
I'll still check if my wifi signal problem goes away when I flash a new ROM and baseband. I'm still at work so I'll let you know how it goes.
Great, hopefully you'll find the solution to the Wifi problem soon
Galaxy Nexus' speaker volume is one of it's gripe, but as we all know, we have Volume+

The baseband has nothing to do with wifi.... Unlock /root/flash 4.0.4 /test and if the problem persist /return

Thanks! Just an update. I've rooted my phone and flashed AOKP milestone 5. At first Wifi and data signals sucked big time. But then I flashed the UGKK7 baseband. Wifi and 3G signals are stronger than ever. Too bad I still have to return my phone due to the back part being loose.
Alright so I previously posted on this and still have not found any answers or had any luck. For some reason when I flash any AOKP, CM9, or MIUI roms my signal indicator shows that I'm roaming and can not connect to data. But then other roms there are no problems. I have tried various rom/kernel combinations and nothing has worked. I recently tried in an area where I knew I had full signal and strong 4g and it still roams for absolutely no reason. If ANYONE can shed ANY light on this situation I will most definitely be grateful.

Could that be something that would reset in some roms but not others? Has anyone else that you've read had an issue with it? I briefly poked around when trying MIUI since they have the option right there in wireless networks but will take a look at it again and see.
Still not having much luck with this problem... If anyone can think of a reason why a Verizon Nexus would connect as roaming on some roms (AOKP, CM9, MIUI) but not others (Liquid, ICSourcery, Gummy) I'm all ears. Is there something those groups of roms have in common that I'm not aware of? Would like to try out more than just 3 or 4 roms out of the 15-20 out there. Any help would be VERY much appreciated.
Are you sure you're flashing Verizon ROMs and not Sprint? Probably obvious but doesn't hurt to rule that out

Ya I don't blame you for asking cause I know that can be a pretty easy goof up for some people, but unfortunately they're the toro versions. I wish it could be something that easy. I'm just baffled how there can be no issues with some, but the same issue with others. Even tried at a buddies house where I get the best reception and had full bars but was still saying it was roaming. I don't want to risk using the phone while it says it's roaming, even though I know as a fact it shouldn't be, and get charged out the wazoo for any roaming charges... Does any one happen to know if data roaming is still covered in unlimited date? I assume not since when you activate it it gives you the warning message.
I have this same issue with my phone. I had it repaired by Samsung and when I got it back I couldn't flash any of the AOKP or CM9 roms. I ended up going with Liquid since it was the only better rom that would work. Radios, kernels, nothing would change it. Haven't gotten any answers either.

Well that's a little discouraging, and making me lean towards a replacement... So when you got it back from Samsung is when you started having the issue? What did you have them repair?

Phone wouldn't go to sleep and had a permanent kernel wake lock. They replaced the mainboard. Phone would have a total battery life with zero screen on time of about 7 hours. I could flash roms no problem.
I plan to purchase a Wind Mobile galaxy s3 tomorrow and I was wondering about the compatibility it will have with ROMs.
I have heard many different things but from what I gather it is that Wind phones are compatible with T-Mobile Roms except for the ones that include things to do with radio. I don't fully understand what this means but I hope I can get a further understanding from the community's response to this thread.
I am not sure if the Nightly even comes with a radio. If it doesn't I heard people saying it would work as long as the rom does not come with the radio. I have no idea what all this means. I hope someone can clarify
The plan I have is to buy the Wind S3 and flash CM10 Nightly straight away with the Lean Kernel. Will it work? If not, is there a way for me to fix it?
Thank you :fingers-crossed:
hey

Looks like people need some encouraging to answer my question
Yes the CM10 nightly will work for you ROMs and radios are mostly kept separate so you don't have to worry about that.

Patience! Its only been a few hours. Ive seen threads go for a day or two before getting answered. Just a matter of when the right person comes across it.
To answer, yes you can flash our roms, but no you cannot use our radios. I'd recommend backing up your current one in case of accidents.
Cm10 should be fine but unless its been addressed expect somewhat slow data speeds and a few other bugs.
Stock on this phone is fantastic believe it or not! So give that a fair run too.
As far as kernel, just make sure the one you use is compatible with CM.
CM roms dont include radios. Most roms dont if they are flashable in cwm or twrp. Be careful if you're using an odin flashable as many do include the radio.

Could you go in to more details about this subject? I do not understand why the data would slow down.
Thanks
Im not sure what the cause is but ive heard a lot of people complain about slow data with cm10, mostly in the modem threads. Udated modems helped for some but not much I dont think. Only other thing ive heard is that its a known issue but the cm team had no plans to address it until they have a stable release.
I haven't kept up with development on cm so you will be able to find much more and up to date info in their thread.

That is exactly what I am running, but you should be prepared for bugs, if you think you are going to get a perfect running rom, your not, if you can't handle, then you better stick with the stock roms.

For me, everything works, but keep in mind I DO NOT USE THE STOCK APPS...worthless email/gmail/message. I use Handcent, and K9 email. They work perfect. I uninstall all stock apps on every rom I load, the only bug I see is screen flicker ( which has a fix), the only thing I do not like is when charging and screen is off, no led, so I never know when it is complete on the charge other than using a prog that sounds when charge is complete....I like the nightly's. I flash update every night. Also using AnTuTu speed test, I get high 9000's on the benchmark, my friggin phone IS FAST!!!!
So, I was doing some reading around a few of the majors posts and realized that I should probably update my modem. I'm running an older version of CM10 nightly (11-14, really stable and hesitant to upgrade to CM10.1 due to a few issues it still has). The modem I have is still the Out-of-Box modem that came with the phone. If I update to UVLJA per the modems post, is there anything else I need to do other than flash the modem? What are the benefits of updating the modem?
Thanks
Ref modems post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=31409259
Just flash and reboot. I've done a few and find the latest to be best for me with signal in places I usually didn't get a signal. Although it might have a negative effect also. It depends on where you are located, what buildings you are in and so forth.
Great, thanks. Just flashed the new modem and the connection seems smoother already.

Good news
You can safely update to CM10 12/16. That's the last CM10 nightly. I ran that build for weeks and never had a problem.

Some people including myself experienced issues with that nightly, I had reboots with it and calls having delay issues (it would ring but I could not answer it until after the 3rd or so ring)... besides he isn't asking which is the latest nightly he should use.
Giving opinions on closely related topics is no longer allowed here? Thank you for pointing out the issues with reboots. I have not personally experienced them, however.

I just went on a modem flashing rampage.. Don't know if it's best to let the radio sit or not but I found the UVLI3 modem to be best for me according to speed test. I'm in the NY/CT area and used the sonic tools modem flashing kit. I Got 13mps which isn't bad lol
