Hi all,
Does anyone know if there is software available to use on the phone to edit video that been shot on the phone ...? Something like imovie for the iphone but for the desire..
Thanks.
So from the lack of response I take it that’s a no then..!
Shame I thought the HTC Desire was a superior phone to the iPhone yet the iPhone has this app and the HTC doesn’t..?
Can the desire's hardware not handle an app like that or is it that just no one’s bothered to make or port one yet..?
After 1 month with Desire HD, I think i like it but there are these 3 things that are really annoying:
1. Camera:
Very limited functionality/adjustment.
Small sensor (my guess) -> can't get a good picture of moving subject (I am not talking about lighting fast moving subject, just for example baby movement).
2. Video:
Very limited file formats can be played back.
Third party players (rockplayer, vplayer) can play some but still not all, especially mkv...very very very laggy.....
Lagging can also occasionally occur during playback of some avi/divx too?
3. Sound/speaker:
This is the worst.
I am comparing the above with the Samsung Galaxy S........quite disappointed.
so here is my 2 cents question:
Does anyone know whether a firmware upgrade can fix the above issues or it's more like a hardware things?
Is it possible that we can use/port the Samsung Galaxy S Camera/Video/Sound firmware/apk on the Desire HD to improve it??????
Many Thanks in advance
There are quite a few threads round here regarding the camera. Have you tried adjusting the ISO? Having it set on "Auto" is a recipe for disaster, the same goes for the white balance.
Check to see if there are any OTA updates available.
You are right. The Desire HD is the biggest piece of crap I've ever used. Unfortunately Telus gave it to me as a replacement while my Galaxy S is being repaired.
Sound is godawful. I hooked up my quality headphones to the Desire HD and can't get any real volume. The sound is completely garbled and half the lyrics are not understandable. I've tried stock settings, using the Dolby and using SRS as well as playing with the equalizer. The sound just plain sucks. It is totally unusable. I'm not an audiophile so I'm perplexed that nobody else has mentioned these issues. Or perhaps there is a solution I'm not aware of.
Second really annoying problem is that I can't delete hotmail emails... they just pop back on the next sync. What gives?
I seriously don't understand how HTC expects to thrive when they put out crap like this. Doesn't anybody believe in quality anymore? Maybe my expectations are just too high, the iphone JUST WORKS and Samsung's Galaxy was a beautiful implementation of Android. Guess I'll just have to wait for my Galaxy to get back or buy the new SGSII. Having an original HTC Diamond and now the problems with the Desire HD, I swear this company should be bankrupt. I'll never pay for one of their phones again.
I agree with seamus24. My friend has Samsung galaxy S II and checked the sound quality. It really better then Desire HD. Is HTC listening ????

Sorry to admit as an avid user of HTCs...the DHD camera is not as good as the Desire, just remember that megapixels is not everything...noise control on the Desire is excellent, overall producing better photo than DHD. I jumped the ship after playing with the SGS2...camera is very low noise, super sharp...also offered 1080 recording as well...
The video player is limited by copyrights and licenses for format playbacks etc and obviously hardware of the DHD. Not to blame, in most cases it can play converted 720 videos without too much issues with the exclusion of MPEG formats IIRC.
Speakers, well that was **** a bit ****, I still firmly believe that the Desure was a better phone, the audio quality on it I believe was better, in comparison again to the SGS2, well there is no competition...DHD<Desire<SGS2
@OP, even if porting was possible, I fear that the archilles heels is based on the actual hardware of the camera, processor (CPU and GPU) and speaker. All of which cannot be changed or upgraded. There is only so much firmware updates can enable slight improvements. Whilst CPU can be OCed, I believe I read from fellow DHD DEV LordClockan that the GPU on the DHD cannot be OCed. Speakers, even with the enhancement from BEATS, very little can be done through software equalisers...trust me, there are people *****ing and moaning about how bad the SGS2 sound quality in comparison to SGS at the SGS2 XDA Forum...they dont actually know how bad DHD is then...but still...borrowing a DHD at the moment...missed SenseUI hahaha...

I'm assuming that's a blu-ray rip you're trying to play on your device? or just another .mkv file (for the quality of picture you get on it)
I tried playing 'Avatar' 2.26GB - blu-ray ripped to a mkv file. Had to take the battery out to restart the phone. I work for a telco, so I tried it on several other DHDs - same result.
Worked like a charm on the SGSII though. I'm assuming, the DHD can only do so much.
Hello Guys,
I know a lot of people asked this in past. But I couldn't find any solution for that. Someone that it's this and others said it's something else.
My question is: Why is the HD video recording quality so bad compared to the iPhone. I mean both have cameras which are of the same company (read that somewhere). And also the processors have the same power.
So why is the video recording on HTC Desire sometimes so laggy and has badder colors? Is it only something that has to do with the developing? Or what is it?
And the most important question is there anyone who solved the problems?
No one who has an idea?

Quality of lens and sensor optics.
But to be honest the iPhone 4 camera is junk compared to the N8. I have both phones and the N8 is simply amazing.
Hi guys, i want to buy htc one v. requirements are quite normal.
1. good telephone.
2. good camera.
3. great music sound and fm radio.
gsmarena confirmed all three for htc one v. So i was on positive notes about one V.
But reading the problems of yellow tint, pixels etc. i have second thoughts.
can you please tell me what are the problems in your htc one v..so i can make good judgment whether to buy it or not.

3. Music sound ofc BEATS AUDIO but loudspeaker is just decent...FM Radio is perfect...
The only issue I have is Death Grip, but it is very annoying. Hope in a sw solution...
cool
ok cool..
yeah..i have seen some of the threads with death grip and their solution.
So, only couple thing which are still bothering me are the yellow spot and light leak.
I will be buying the htc one v from local shop. so i can check for these problems.
the question is HOW? is there any specific way i can check for yellow spot? cause light leak from screen can be identified (from touch buttons and near usb plugin)
i also heard that htc ppl said, there was problem with first few batches of mobiles and then these problems were resolved. So, anyone from India here who bought this piece recently..can you confirm your device does not have these issues?
thanks in advance..
I have no complaints about this phone. It leaks light a little from the USB port but only someone looking for it in the dark would notice.

yep, camera is good
there is expamples:
I'll just be talking about software since I have the t328w, brother of the One V (same exact specs, better design IMO) but here:
PROS:
+VERY fast and fluid UI
+Very Nice Screen (Colour and sharpness wise)
+ICE CREAM SANDWHICH
CONS:
-Beats® Audio is the most overrated POS ever, sorry, but I am sort of an audiophile, and sadly even my iPod touch has better sound quality, it just makes the music more louder with increased Bass (but not THAT much either), and the music through beats (or I guess through this phone) has no atmosphere, it sounds to flat, and equalizers only make it worse by muffling out sounds while increasing others
-Camera is only so so, quality is good, but not great, same with video camera, and night shots are just horrible
-Emulators have sound issues (both Gameboid and Snesoid)
-Not that powerful in general (atleast for the specs it has) when it comes to gaming performance, though quadrant performance is amazing (even though the score I get it ~1400, but it feels like it should be atleast ~1850

i have htc one v and there are no problems with it.:d
No review site ever complained of deathgrip and gsmarena.com specifically tested for it. My phone doesn't have this problem. I've had it for over a month now and have never dropped a call, even here in Cambodia where the system is less than perfect. But a couple people here say they do.
I think calling the problem deathgrip is an exaggeration, if it even exists in the One V.
With my phone, wifi receptivity does change depending upon the position of the device, but this is common to many other small devices and is only a nuisance when on the edge of the signal's reasonable range.
Edit: Forgot to mention that I really like my One V and have no buyer's remorse. It's a great device.

On Beats +1. It's a junk gimmick that ruins the sound, especially if you listen to anything beside rock or rap.
On the camera, I don't agree. For the price range, it's a very good snapper. No camera phone or point & shoot camera does well in low light.
i got htc one v 4 days back nd m having wierd issues !!!!

tried keyboard calibration nd restoring factory settings but nothing helped

See my post in that thread - here
I only had the yellow spots issue. Now its receding.
The most useful camera trick for me was being able to refocus pictures after taking them.
And the M9 does not support that. I do see that the picture quality is better than the M8. But I use this feature so much along with the other features made possible because of the DUO Camera. No M9 for me!! (Unless something changes)
Anyone else disappointed with the M9 (it feels like a... M7.5, if you already have the M8 ) for whatever reason ?
There is an app 4 that
Im disappointed with the m9 as well
You can download the Bokeh camera... Open the camera app.. click on the Camera mode button (4 round circles in the bottom left of the screen, Click the big + sign... D/L'd the Bokeh camera.
Ive had this M9 now for 2 days, the first m9 I had went back for overheating, even after the 340MB update.. it didnt help the overheating
Coming from an M8 I was aware that the M9 is an incremental update, not a new flagship, but I love the audio and the awesome 4 UltraPixel Cam, so why the hell did HTC give into the UltraPixel Bashing and join the wagon train of MegaPixels, Why didnt HTC develop a 6 or even an 8 Ultrapixel camera. As a result of this cowardice theyve f++ked the camera up big time.
I followed the guide given here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=59821245&postcount=274
As well as experimented and tried and tested it, to no avail.. and as a result Im stuck with a device worse than what they released last year;
A 20MPx image I took, looks worse a 5Mpx from the HTC desire, pure mush on the details, yet an 8Mpx can Rarely look stunning (Sorry Ive tried but cant upload any pics)
If anyone can give me a reason to keep the M9, please convince me, or I may send it to eBay.
How about anyone else
I would give you my M8 for your M9
