[Q] Restore Data and App from KK on LP with Titanium - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I've got a little problem! But at first some facts:
This is what I've flashed before: the latest release of stock based KK- Rom Android Now HD
My new rom was the CM based BlissPop 2.3
On my KK Rom I backed up all of my Apps/Data with Titanium Backup. After flashing the BlissPop Rom I restored all Apps (no system apps) and data. So far so good: all apps were restored and worked. But now the issue: not all data were restored. Some apps didn't had the original data, for example profiles of games were missed etc.
U got any clue or hint whats the problem is there or how to fix it? Thx in advance!

[Q] Titanium Backup

Sup! I'm making this post to ask about a problem using Titanium Backup (pro version) I did some backups before I flashed my mobilephone, then when I'm going to restore (App or App+Data) it will keep showing the restore screen then I have to force close... It installs the App as far as I know but It's bugging me since some time (I flashed my phone about 3 times and the problem keeps happening).

What ROM are you using?
Tried with Stock rom and now I'm using TrueAncestor
Try Reinstalling
Try to reinstall titanium. also make sure its the latest version. If none of that works install the free version and see if it makes a difference.
Hope this helps!

When you flashed your phone did you do Factory Reset, Dalvik Cache Wipe, Battery Stats Wipe, and Cache Partition Wipe? Also make sure the basesband you're using is the most compatible for the ROMs you're flashing.
Only time I had problems with TB was when trying to restore apps from different frameworks. For example, trying to restore Sony Stock apps on a Cyanogen ROM or the other way around.

[Q] Anyone using Cyanogenmod ? How do you update ?

I am running CM10 STABLE 4.1.2
I want to update to the latest nightly 4.2.2
Question. Do I just put the nightly on my SD and boot into recovery and flash it ? Is that it ?
will I lose all my apps and stuff ? pics / music ?

If you're transitioning versions of android you need to do a full wipe...so yes, you will be starting over again. You'll need to make the appropriate backups and download the 4.2 gapps
If you're unfamiliar or rusty on the backup and proper flash techniques, check out steps 5 and 6 on this link:

First thing i would tell you not to update to latest nightly because of new 3.4 kernal not working good. if you flash top of your cm10 rom you will not lose any thing but it always good idea to install fresh. when you install fresh make app backup and Nandroid backup. your pics/music will be fine because they are in your sd card but make backup to be safe.

he is not coming from the current 4.2 cyanogenmod. he is coming from 4.1. that is a completely separate release and requires a full wipe to function properly.

There are a few ways to avoid losing data. Pics and music are moved easily to /mnt/extsdcard with a file explorer or if they're on internal sd just wipe system and factory reset, that will wipe data without wiping int/ext sd. Second thing is to make a nandroid of current rom before wiping and flashing, then if you are moving from one aosp rom to another (same with moving from touchwiz to touchwiz) you can do a restore after flashing new Rom and make sure only data is checked for the restore. Then all your apps and stuff should be brought back. There are also apps like sms backup+restore or titanium, but be careful with titanium and system apps, quite often they don't play well with other roms.
Please don't forget to thank me if I've been helpful.
get.cm -> d2att->download latest->put on phone(or download using phone)->reboot to recovery->wipe->flash rom->flash gapps->reboot.
have google restore contacts and apps, TiB to restore app datas.
done.

Backup Solution hassle free !!?

Hello guys,
I've been wondering how the google screwed us with so many JB 4.3 updates and here i'm still on 4.2.2 restoring to 4.2.2 after every 4.3 ROM flash as some are very sluggish and not so promising and with others the problem is TI backup as google doesn't restore my apps by default whatever the issue is...
After wiping factory data reset (System wipe + cache + data w/o wiping media) i flashed a new rom before that i did a nandroid of my Jul24 Euroskank with Trinity A3 build the last of 4.2.2 plus ti backup of my 101 apps...and after flashing 4.3 i could not restore my backed-up apps TI says error
:grrh : .
Please if any one knows a perfect and 100% tested method to backup user apps help me out with this issue ...thanks !

If your 4.3 ROM is using Koush's superuser, go to TB settings - backup location - scan whole device. Then select the legacy foder and you should be good to go. Alternatively, you could flash chainfire's super SU 1.51 and TB will work without changes.

[Q] Restore apps from nandroid backup

Hi,
I had upgraded my Galaxy Gio from stock rom to custom rom (CM 7.2 based), and now I want to restore just a few apps + data (for e.g. Memo) and Contacts (from stock rom) from my Nandroid backup, so I want it should be on the current custom rom.
How far I tried to do so, I could'nt get it done. I tried with NANDROID MANAGER, I installed it and tried to restore some apps + their data, (the apps was in previous rom in System/Apps so Nandroid Manager automatically wanted to install it in system/apps), ok, the program showed as it's installed with no broblems, BUT after reboot as it required, NOTHING HAPPENED, so I looked in system/apps and data/data with root explorer, those apps & data were there, but it was not installed.....
I also tried to restore the Contacts from Nandroid (Contacts Storage), and I ended up with erasing all contacts I had currently on the phone (anyway that wasn't a problem, cause i had an regular backup of it).
So I would like to understand what the problem is, and how is it possible to have my previous memos and contacts restored to my current rom?!
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS ISSUE!!!!
Thanks in advance.

[Q] Help needed in advance restore of nandroid backup

Hey people im a newbie here and i want to learn stuff about android.
Recently i checked out the cm 11(4.4.2) roms for my XM... they were good but most of the releases are in the beta stages... I reverted to my stock rom(4.1.2) after a try...
I had a backup of my earlier stock rom(4.1.2) which i restored through cwm successfully.. all went great.. But then the liquid smooth rom came in and i wanted to try it... it was great... i made a clean flash of the liquid smooth rom from my stock... i had a backup of my cm11(4.4.2) rom from before.. i made an advance restore of the data from it(4.4.2 to 4.4.2) and everything went well...
Now my question is if in case i do an advance restore of data from my stock rom backup(4.1.2) to the liquid smooth rom(4.4.2)... will i get any issues??
Thanks for helping in advance..
I'm far from an expert on the topic at hand, however I believe you shouldn't get any errors so long as all the system files to the ROM are left untouched. Get somebody to confirm or correct me however.
Sent from my C1905 using xda app-developers app
playing with nandroid
I did a few sessions of backup and restores in my XM... I found quite a wierd result..
When i do an advanced restore from stock rom(4.1.2) backup to liquid rom(4.4.2) all works fine...
But whenever i try an advanced restore from liquid rom(4.4.2) backup to stock(4.1.2) i get a bootloop...
I just wanna know if this is the same with everyone or is there a mistake in my measures... I guess its got to do something with android upgrading and downgrading procedures... if its not my fault...
