Hi, so I am using PacMan Rom the release version. Kitkat(4.4.4) PacVersion(KK Release dev) so far its been running great, smooth and fast. but trouble is my battery draining pretty quickly, is there a better kernel that might prevent this?
Which kernel do you suggest?

Which rom provides the best and longest battery life?
Now that all depends on what you want the rom for.
Do you want HTC Sense? Android Stock? AOSP?
Then the kernels you use have a dramatic difference, and the Radio which can be used.
Personally I'm on:
Rom - Oxygen 1.0.4 (AOSP)
Radio - 32.48.00.32U_5.10.05.30
Kernel - 2.6.35.9-vorkKernel [email protected] #1
And from all this, depending on how I use the rom.. On a busy day I'll get near 15 hours battery life, and on a quiet time, I can get around 30-40 hours, and all that, without using SetCpu.
So you've got to look at quite a lot of options. Also depends on what apps you use, and widgets, brightness etc.
Not much help but that's my setup and how it works personally for me.

I have tried Miui and also defrost but i didn't know that the kernel was that important.
Could you sugest other rom's? It doesnt matter AOSP or any other
If you keep to the radio which I mentioned in the earlier post.. I do suggest that you try sense roms: LeeDroid's rom, stable and fantastic, as is AuraxTSense tbh, though I'm not keen on the way that rom looks and can drain the battery quite a bit. Oxygen is also a fantastic AOSP rom, as is Cyanogen. DeFrost is good also, similar to Cyanogen mind.
I have never tried any MIUI roms so I can't suggest.
If you're willing to look on other forums, I suggest looking at http://android.modaco.com/ and go to the Desire section and have a look at some of the Sense and NO-Sense roms on there, they are also good for lack of drain.
Stick to the radio I mentioned and you won't go wrong mate . Most kernels released with the roms have been made specifically for that rom and usually will be the best that there is already, so don't worry yourself about that too much.

Thank you very much my friend.
Anyone else got ideas for a rom with good battery?
Hi Guys,
I have had a HTC Desire since it 1st launched and love it. I am always changing ROMs and testing new features but I now want a daily driver for a while. I am currently using CM7 Nightly Roms because I have found they are very stable and have good battery life but I do miss Sense.
I like the DHD ROMs and was wondering what is the best DHD ROM to use and what radio do you use with it.
Thanks in advance
InsertCoin/RCSMixHD/ReflexTSense - it depends on the kernel.
I am using RCSMix HD, with coutt's latest 925mv kernel and get a very good battery life.

I don't know much about the kernels do you just flash them on top of a ROM and what are the best kernels?
Yes, you flash them via recovery, just like a ROM.
Use search function in the Desire Android Developement section to learn about the kernels.
Well...
The main part which determine the battery life is the kernel.
But as usual that is not everything.
Apps synchronizing, proc freq settings, live wallpaper, etc. have also their influences to the battery life.
BTW:
I am using InsertCoin (Baadnewz) 1.8f with Lee's kernel. Everything is fast, stable and has a good battery life here.
I have been using InsertCoin since 1.4 till 1.8h (bck to 1.8f)...for me 1.8f is the masterpiece of all releases since then.
I have tried coutt's kernel...no noticeable difference seen for the battery life.
hi,
which rom is better?
What about speed, stability, other features, battery?
Just upgraded to 1.1 and all is well with camera working and 720p. Its really stable and fast with the cm7 hboot. That's for me anyway.
I tried an earlier version of insertcoin and it was buggy. Just really wasn't great to use at all. But that was many versions ago.
From what I have tried, rcmixs works great.

RCMixS 1.1 a2sd is the best rom I've ever used Really fast, no fc's at all. I think both robo and baad did their best. Good job guys!
I am using RCMix S v1.2 and it is working great, with amazing speed if you compare it to stock roms. cheers.
I am using InsertCoin v18 and its - in my opinion - far more stable than RCMix S. On RCMix S i got FCs all the time, the autoinstall script messed everything up and the rom was slow.
On InsertCoin, everything runs nice and smooth. Battery life is not as good as Oxygen's, but its definetely better than Stock Froyo's. I get about 1 1/2 days with normal usage.
I'm using CodefireX AOSP but the latest stable release is from march and not that stable. Currently I have the SR12 release which is fine but sometimes slow and occasionally I get random reboots.
So I'm wondering is there any really smooth Jellybean ROM for the DHD? Without any flaws like apps not working, some features broken etc. I don't need any fancy add-ons, main priority is stable and fast. I was even thinking about going back to ARHD but I got used to the new GMail and other 4.x features so I'd rather stick with JB or ICS.
Or maybe the DHD is just to old for really smooth JB operation?
I know this question gets asked from time to time but with all the development that's still going on I think old threads are not that useful.

I would recommend CM10.1 RC1 works well and no FC or random reboots, I might try RC5 soon. I was using PipelinerArd last AOKP build before espmartin took the helm and that is also a great 4.2 ROM. If you can kill google maps with greenify and keep apps to a minimum that wake the phone in sleep then battery life can be 36hrs plus with average to good use. Games will still kill the battery because the screen sucks a lot of juice.
I recommand you also the Mustaavalkosta CyanogenMod 10.1 RC5 is the most stable and powerfull ROM form DHD in 4.2.2.

Thread moved to Q&A because it's a question. Thread closed because it's asking for the best ROM, which is not allowed.
Hi there I am looking for a AOSP Based ROM =, I've seen CM11 and a couple of other ROMS but not sure which one would be the most stable and battery friendly.
People with more experience with flashing the roms currently available could you please share your experiences?
I am currently using a European LG Stock rooted rom but I want the speed and fluidity of AOSP based ROM with hopefully improved battery life
and most of the hardware working e.g. IR Blaster etc
please share the which AOSP based ROM you are using, your experience with it and a link to it.
Thank you very much for your opinions and input beforehand.

I don't think you can go wrong with any of infecteds roms. They all seem fast and smooth. Checking the cpu governer is not set at ondemand, I think, is a must do.
I personally use infected SlimKat, though I used his cm11 nightlys for ages. His SlimKat, for me, is the best.
It's going to be more stable than cm Nightlies simply because it's not a nightly build. It's got a few extras that I love, but ultimately you need to have a flashing session and see which appeals to you most.
