[Q] Android Auto on Nexus 7 - Nexus 7 Themes and Apps

Anyone know if it's feasable to install Android Auto on a Nexus 7?
Can't seem to find the APK right now...!

Why dont use directly The n7 like a autoradio.?
Inviato dal mio Nexus 7 utilizzando Tapatalk

I think you don't understand, google Auto is a new feature for Lollipop devices:
http://www.android.com/auto/
But you need either a phone with 5.0 or some car radio. I already have a Nexus 7 with Torque (abd OBDII Adaptor) that is used in my car. I want to try Android Auto on it but it's not available on the market.
So, I'm asking if someone knows how to install it or have the APK to share.

Where are you from?

Android Auto è attualmente disponibile in Australia, nel Regno Unito e negli Stati Uniti.* Il you are not italian, is avaible in Australia, uk And usa. But i dont understand a thing do you have An autoradio compatible or you want use n7 and your smartphone?

Maybe you find the apk here http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google...-062923-1788739-release-android-apk-download/

Thanks, the APK did work, I have to check this further now!
Like connect to the car with the ODB or something...

But i dont understand, how use that app.
Are you italian? Because you send me an italian site link, if yes (lo sono anche io)
Inviato dal mio Nexus 7 utilizzando Tapatalk

No, I'm not italian, it's an official Android site, it will translate to your locals automatically, that's why it's itallian for you!
I don't understand the app as well, it looks like it needs to connect to the cars and it doesn't seem to "use" the ODB II BT connector.

Ah ok. uhm if i understand need An autoradio compatible for work.
Maybe if It s possible create a comunication from phone To n7 will be good, But for that you can use tablet talk, the only bad thing is the not streaming audio, so u need a headphone bt (with tablet talk). Maybe with Android auto the streaming audio phone to other Android device is compatible (i mean the audio of call).
Inviato dal mio Nexus 7 utilizzando Tapatalk

If you use the tablet in a car already, there's a good chance it's already in the "line in" of the auto radio. You can use this easely. I have a "bt" "puck" connected on it as of now, so I have to "switch" the plug between the "puck" and the tablet. I wounder if I could only connect the tablet and connect my phone trough BT and have my sound from my smartphone.
I think I'm gonna test some things out, as I see it now, Android Auto is realy not meant to be used in a "standalone" tablet, but only with "integrated" systems.

Yes i m already using the n7 in car, connect with autoradio, via audio in, using a dac. All is automatized with tasker, so when i plug to The ac,and is plugged with the dac, connect in automatic with the obd, and start car home ultra (also on bt 3g gps) and then start Google music. All that in 1minute. When i off car, or unplug ac, close All app opened At start, and go in sleep mode.
The Good thing is tablet talk so when i receive a call, i Can accept using The tablet, and talk using the headphone bt. (ah i forget when all start from tablet out a comand to my phone for start bt, when off car automatically bt off). That sounds complicated but work nice, and cost less of new autoradio with Android.

Allcast dongle with nexus 7????

So check it out I bought the all cast dongle for my s4 works great on touch wiz. It even works great on any aosp ROM just with out the sound. So any would there be any reason it wouldn't work with the nexus 7s wireless display? It doesn't. I've tried numerous attempts with no luck. Curious what others think the issue may be or if you guys may have any ideas-
Thanks
It would be something wonderful to mirror this bad boy.
I just don't want to buy another HDMI wireless adapter if I don't need too

My guess is b/c the Nexus 7 supports myDP which is only compatible with the slimport adaptor.
Edit: I thought it was a physical adaptor. I'm sure it has to do with proprietary software specific to Samsung devices that the nexus is missing.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
This probably will not since this is a proprietary Samsung software/hardware. Miracast should work if you have a TV or adapter that supports it. Like the netgear push2tv.

Samsung AllShare Cast Dongle is a Miracast Hub. I just picked up a nexus 7, and i will try it on my allshare cast dongle. they work on/off with my note 2 also, so who knows.

Yes, it connects better than my note 2 does actually. I tried it before I rooted, and after, and it works both ways, where the note 2 and S3 won't connect most of the time if phones say they are modified

I have 2 Allsharecast dongles(got them for $50), and it connects to both with no issues, other than the same random lag that my note 2 gets once in a while on the screen mirroring also.

Have you updated your allsharecast dongle to ME29 using the allsharecast dongle software update app? It changed the name of my dongles to AllshareCast(Screen Mirroring) and that may have added other device support! (I just looked, and it was updated the same day you posted this OP)

Yes. I had it mirroring my Nexus 7(2013) on my drive home from work actually lol and it was doing pretty good. i was having a problem with GPS though, so i had to have my note 2 actually do the traffic info lol. (i have a Pioneer AVH-X8500BHS which has HDMI input, and i have one of my AllshareCast dongles hidden behind my dash, and i use ARLiberator which lets my radios touch screen control my phone, but i was using it on the N7 today to test it out lol. was kinda awkward looking at the resolution shrunk down for it though. especially with my N7 sitting on my passenger seat and the same size screen as my radio lol)

I think that's one of the things they fixed in ME29. You have to run the allsharecast dongle software update app on your note 2 then, I believe. i can't quite remember what I needed to do to get the update to run though.

Is it on a stock Rom on your note? Mine when I connected my note to the dongle, it said a firmware update is available, and asked if I wanted to update it. Maybe if you clear app data and cache for the allsharecast app it will ask you to update it? I'm not positive
when using allshare cast dongle on ROOTed device.....so you need to run TRIANGLEWAY(google it)......then you get a
I have a AllShare Dongle (from my Wife's Note 2) and I have a Nexus 7 (2013).
It detects the dongle but for some reason, it just stays at "Connecting ...." but it actually does not connect.
I have a rooted Nexus 7 (Stock), but I'm wondering if Triangle Away will fix it as well?
Thanks
I am stock rooted JSS15R and I am able to connect to my Allcast just fine. (Did not use triangle away or any thing else) You likely need to update your dongle firmware. Read back a few posts. You have to download the Allcast Dongle app from the play store onto your Samsung device which will update the dongle firmware. Then you should be able to connect your tablet.
I actually updated it when i tested it with my wifes note.
hmmmm .. this is weird. it already has the latest firmware i did reset it too.
i might have to unroot just to see.

Xbox 360 controller not working

I have a wired xbox 360 controller that I use on my pc. I have an OTG usb cable too. The cable works because it can read usb memories.
When I connect the controller its lights keep flashing.
I try to play dead trigger 2 and I cant. If I connect another controller logitech it works.
Anyone knows how can I play with the xbox controller?

I don't think you can without some sort of drivers. Most people use the ps3 controllers via Bluetooth.
I've read that they work on nexus 7 without drivers. They only connect the controller and can use them.
If I need drivers... Where are they? Xd

I've seen inside folder /system/urs/keylayout that the mapping file for the xbox 360 controller its there: Vendor_045e_Product_028e.kl
But it doesn't recognize the controller.

I've read others posts and I've seen that it's needed that someone complies xpad.ko
Anyone can compile or explain how to do it?
This module can be included in a custom kernel. Ask Yank555 if he can help you out with some input since he had included this support in his Galaxy S3 kernels

Any luck? I've been looking around and have found nothing.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.poke64738.usbjoygold
That's kinda a workaround but it's a pain to configure for every game.
I confirm that the xbox 360 controller works perfectly out of the box on an unrooted nexus 7, setting its light to player 1. Yet as OP pointed out with the nexus 5 all players lights in the controller keep blinking.
I used logcat on m nexus 5 (I can't on the tablet because it's not mine) and I can see that when plugged, the nexus 5 fails to recognize the controller.
Someone found a solution for a similar problem on an LG G2, but the app used does not seem to work with the nexus 5 for the moment. I can't post the link because I'm a new user but if you google "Wired xbox controller not working with LG G2" it should pop in the first result, it's a stack exchange question.
No solution yet?
i can see on youtube xbox pads are recognized on N7 but not N5.
I tried with a CABLED Saitek P2600 and a Generic GameStop pad, both workin ok.
But both wireless and wired xbox 360 pads are not even detected. What's wrong with N5 and gamepads?!?!
Franco now has Xbox 360 controller drivers

I don't know what you are using, but a stock Nexus 5 as of 4/20/14 does NOT support the Xbox 360 wired controller out of the box. If you need me to make a video proving it, I can. The same cable and controller works just fine on my Tegra Note 7.
For anyone running CM11.....maybe vote this up? https://jira.cyanogenmod.org/browse/CYAN-4469

I've had that problem with Samsung tvs and SAMSUNG PHONES AND TABLETS. All settings are in place yet mirroring does not work, though viewing files/videos/movies/music does.
Twonky beam or allcast work very well but they push data rather than screen mirror.
btw, the same problem seems to exist in the ios world. Airplay allows for streaming not mirroring.
The only solution that has worked for me is either an mhl/slimport cable for android or apples proprietary lightning to hdmi cable. Using these, everything is accurately mirrored. Video quality is vastly improved as well.
Charlie
I've had no problem with transmitting from my pad to a Samsung smart TV from last year. I'll try to find the model later.

Nexus 5X - Android Auto does not start on infotainment system when connected USB

Dear owners of N5X,
I am using a N5X with unlocked bootloader but full stock (Sept patch installed recently with a clean all flash)
I have a small issue
I cannot start Android Auto on my car connecting my device to infotainment system (Ford Sync3 updated) equipped with Android Auto (and Car Play) feature
I can open Android Auto on device but when I connect it by USB original cable nothing happen on infotainment system
Until now these are my trials wo success with N5X:
USB cable 1 (usb C versus N5X and usb A 2.0 male versus car) this cable (huawei) is running well with my xiaomi Mi A1
USB cable 2 (usb C versus N5X and USB C plus adapter C>A male versus car) this cable usb C/usb C (wo adapter) is LG original in bundle with N5X
The BT connection to infotainment system is OK
Any other experience about it ??
Any suggestions to me ?
Thanks
Paolo

It never worked ...
Never means from when I have a car equipped with AA feature that means 6 months
Yes I have tried to delete and reinstall the app withou success
Does your car have more than one USB port where AA will launch from. I had a Chevy Traverse that stopped launching AA from one of the USB ports after like 6 uses, but the other two USB ports would still launch AA when plugged in.

YES
My car has two USB port
I have already tried to change it as well as cable, adapter, etc ...
Recently I have had an experience with a simulator that is able to simulate the screen of car and so to test the functionality of AA but on the PC using ADB forwarded to a tcp connession
Here the procedure:
https://developer.android.com/training/auto/testing/
Well ... the AA on my N5X is correctly running into simulator but there is not any chance to have it running with real car's screen ...
I am very annoyed about this
Dear friends,
I have always the same issue
Others owners of N5X can share here their experience with Android Auto ??
Thanks

Google search history & screen mirroring to Chromecast

Hi all, very satisfied with my new Galaxy Tab S4. Although i'm having some issues with it and ask for your help.
Everytime i open the stock Samsung webbrowser, the google search history shows in a dropdown box. I've tried everything (i think..), been searching the webbrowser settings and also Google settings, but the history keeps showing. I want it to be a nice and clear not show my former searches. Anyone any ideas on this? Or something i overlooked?
Also i really enjoyed mirroring the screen of my Note 10.1 2014 to a Chromecast, but somehow on the Tab S4 i can't get it to work at all. No messages when i try to cast, it just won't work. Anyone tried this yet?
Thanks!
Sorry, my Samsung browser doesn't show any search history. Maybe you can try to completely clear its data.
About screen mirroring, Samsung smart view uses miracast, which isn't compatible with chromecast protocol. Maybe you need some specific app (I don't have a chromecast, so I can't try by myself).
