So check it out I bought the all cast dongle for my s4 works great on touch wiz. It even works great on any aosp ROM just with out the sound. So any would there be any reason it wouldn't work with the nexus 7s wireless display? It doesn't. I've tried numerous attempts with no luck. Curious what others think the issue may be or if you guys may have any ideas-
Thanks
It would be something wonderful to mirror this bad boy.

My guess is b/c the Nexus 7 supports myDP which is only compatible with the slimport adaptor.
Edit: I thought it was a physical adaptor. I'm sure it has to do with proprietary software specific to Samsung devices that the nexus is missing.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
This probably will not since this is a proprietary Samsung software/hardware. Miracast should work if you have a TV or adapter that supports it. Like the netgear push2tv.

Samsung AllShare Cast Dongle is a Miracast Hub. I just picked up a nexus 7, and i will try it on my allshare cast dongle. they work on/off with my note 2 also, so who knows.

Yes, it connects better than my note 2 does actually. I tried it before I rooted, and after, and it works both ways, where the note 2 and S3 won't connect most of the time if phones say they are modified

I have 2 Allsharecast dongles(got them for $50), and it connects to both with no issues, other than the same random lag that my note 2 gets once in a while on the screen mirroring also.

Have you updated your allsharecast dongle to ME29 using the allsharecast dongle software update app? It changed the name of my dongles to AllshareCast(Screen Mirroring) and that may have added other device support! (I just looked, and it was updated the same day you posted this OP)

Yes. I had it mirroring my Nexus 7(2013) on my drive home from work actually lol and it was doing pretty good. i was having a problem with GPS though, so i had to have my note 2 actually do the traffic info lol. (i have a Pioneer AVH-X8500BHS which has HDMI input, and i have one of my AllshareCast dongles hidden behind my dash, and i use ARLiberator which lets my radios touch screen control my phone, but i was using it on the N7 today to test it out lol. was kinda awkward looking at the resolution shrunk down for it though. especially with my N7 sitting on my passenger seat and the same size screen as my radio lol)

I think that's one of the things they fixed in ME29. You have to run the allsharecast dongle software update app on your note 2 then, I believe. i can't quite remember what I needed to do to get the update to run though.

Is it on a stock Rom on your note? Mine when I connected my note to the dongle, it said a firmware update is available, and asked if I wanted to update it. Maybe if you clear app data and cache for the allsharecast app it will ask you to update it? I'm not positive
when using allshare cast dongle on ROOTed device.....so you need to run TRIANGLEWAY(google it)......then you get a
I have a AllShare Dongle (from my Wife's Note 2) and I have a Nexus 7 (2013).
It detects the dongle but for some reason, it just stays at "Connecting ...." but it actually does not connect.
I have a rooted Nexus 7 (Stock), but I'm wondering if Triangle Away will fix it as well?
Thanks
I am stock rooted JSS15R and I am able to connect to my Allcast just fine. (Did not use triangle away or any thing else) You likely need to update your dongle firmware. Read back a few posts. You have to download the Allcast Dongle app from the play store onto your Samsung device which will update the dongle firmware. Then you should be able to connect your tablet.
I actually updated it when i tested it with my wifes note.
hmmmm .. this is weird. it already has the latest firmware i did reset it too.
i might have to unroot just to see.

I got a notice to download the "AllshareCast Dongle S/W Update" to version LJ02 today. I don't have an AllshareCast dongle and I didn't even know that this app was installed on my phone. I'm wondering why they've pushed it out to everybody (I assume), since I imagine that only a tiny number of people have the app. Seems like it would make sense to install it only for people who actually have the dongle.
I'm thinking about uninstalling or freezing it. Has anybody else received it? Any thoughts?
I received the update last night around 130 am eastern........ Had no clue what it was. I am going to delete in a few minutes

It's supposed to allow the GS3 to update the software on the Allcast dongle that you can attach to TVs and such for device mirroring.

Are you on LH9? It seems to only work on LH9 and LI5.
It's not an ATT GS3, so it's not got that firmware on it, but is the latest stock for my region, as far as I know (UK).
I was hoping the APK alone might still work, as it appears to be updating the Allcast dongle itself, rather than being tied to anything on the phone, hardware-wise.
Perhaps Samsung are rolling it out to a select few 'test' firmwares first? I believe I'm on LJ4, but I'm not up on Samsung's firmware terminology - not needed to really stray from rooted stock on this phone.
If you're able to extract the APK, it would be much appreciated

This is a legitimate Samsung update and it is a part of the function that allows you to share the screen with Dlna enabled devices such as blue ray players, wdtv (and other streaming boxes) and hdtv with the function.

Are you sure about that? What you're describing sounds like "AllShare Play" which is a completely different app. Where did you get your information that this app has some connection to DLNA?
I have been using the all share dongle. It is just as described as above. I mirror my phone thru the dongle to and TV with a HDMI port. Or Samsung devices. Play videos games whatever. All share play let's you remote control devices from your phone. All share dongle does work thru some type of dlna service from what I read on Samsung site and other places.
I was using this feature before the update was put out. It now shows up as a installed app. Before the update it was just something you could turn on in settings and still is.
It's the pre configured scan portion for the $90 wifi dongle that you buy to connect to hdmi port on projectors and hdtv displays and or the software for your computer that allows you to share via wifi or Internet.
I bought the MHL connection and carry a cable so when I am in hotels I watch what I want (netflix, Hulu) while the phone charges.
But the address of the developer is legit.

I'm sure that the update is legit. I just want to avoid confusion and misinformation about what it's for:
The Allshare Cast Dongle app supports the Allshare Cast Dongle
The Allshare Play app provides DLNA connectivity to DLNA-capable devices
I believe that the Allshare Cast Dongle does not use DLNA and that this update has no relationship to the Allshare Play app or to DLNA capability. If anybody has good evidence to the contrary, please post it.
That being said, my guess is that this new update being pushed out is useless to the great majority of us who don't have the dongle.
I'm pretty sure All Share Cast is Samsung's version of Miracast.

That's exactly what it is, I don't think the dongle uses DLNA at all.
I've found that this update has been changed to be compatible with my phone (stock UK GS3) over the last few days. It originally was shown as not compatible.
It basically prompts you to update your Allshare Cast dongle firmware when you next connect to it. It updates the dongle firmware - wirelessly - to version LJ02, which appears to have made the dongle connection much more stable, and quicker to establish.
OK, so I installed the update, then uninstalled it when I saw that it was useless for me. Now, I am getting a perpetual update notice in Google Play. Does anybody know a way to make the update notice go away without actually installing the app? The only way I can think of is to install it and then freeze it, but that seems like a waste.

I just had a quick back and forth with Samsung. It is Not a official app. All official app can be found at www.Samsungapps.com.
Edit: seems that Samsung isn't sure it is or not.... They talked with someone else who says that it is valid. XDA has it marked as bloatware that can be removed.
Edit2: Lookout Security says they've been asked about it before and "We have encountered this in the past and Samsung has stated that this is their app via our contact." I'm requesting it be confirmed.
Edit3: A second person at Samsung support says it's not official and a 3P app.
It CAN be un installed with TI. First detach it from the market and then uninstall. It's actual name is com.sec.fwupgrade so don't be alarmed when it says that. I will be sending it to a couple of security vendors to include in malware lists and questioned Samsung why they have not had the app removed.

Looking for a wireless solution similar to Samsung all share.
I don't know if one but if you hear be sure to tell me too.
And unless Samsung changed All Share since I had my epic touch you couldn't wireless mirror. It only would let you do videos, audio, and images wirelessly. Please correct me if I am wrong but I am pretty sure on this.
I think what the poster is referring to is wirelessly mirroring everything like browsing the net and playing games.
To add to this, I saw a Korean video of someone demonstrating the optimus g on a tv while using the phone wirelessly. So it is possible. I don't know what app it was but I don't remember a cord. If I find the video I will post the link.

I have a Netgear Miracast/Intel WiDi display adapter connected to my tv. The OG picks up the Netgear as a compatible adapter and seems ready to output to it wirelessly but when I tell it to connect, nothing happens. The OG says it is connecting but never actually does. I noticed though that the instructions the phone displays says to either connect the LG Miracast dongle or turn on the Miracast feature on the tv. So potentially a LG Miracast donlge exists that may allow for the use of mirroring the OG or maybe some LG tvs have this feature builtin and it can be used that way.

I upgraded to JB and now when I try to use Miracast with my Netgear PTV3000, it works initially but disconnects after about 2 minutes every time. Also, when streaming HD video over Miracast, its now initially very jerky/choppy (lots of dropped frames), though it eventually smooths out but then as mentioned above, it disconnects. I had no such issues with ICS (everything worked fine) so I think the Miracast streaming/disconnect problems are due to some issue with the stock JB ROM and not my Netgear adapter.
Just got ME29 firmware update, and i think it takes away the lag i used to see before.
Screen mirroring from my s3 and note10.1 is much faster now!
I think they have added true HD support for mirroring now.... i am guessing in preparation for note 3 release.

Hello.
I updated my Allsharecast doungle to latest version ME29, and also got the connectivity problem.

Exactly the same problem, but with an S3. Worked fine rooted with the previous dongle version, connection now always disconnects after 10 seconds with ME29.
If anyone is thinking of upgrading and is rooted, I'd hold on until this is resolved - the dongle is essentially useless for me now. FFS Samsung!

Hello,
Exactly the same thing with an S3 and "multiple windows" are activated by themselves.
I have stock, unrooted note 10.1 tablet and att s3 cell.
I can connect fine as mentioned in OP.
So maybe its rooted phones that have this issue.
Sent from my GT-N8013 using Tapatalk
Upgraded my galaxy s3 to 4.1.2, and can confirm that allshare dongle still works nicely.
So it may be phones with modified or custom status that are now having issues.
Sent from my GT-N8013 using Tapatalk
To further confuse the situation, it seems my rooted s3 connects fine to the ME29 dongle when it is plugged directly into my Sony TV. It doesn't work at all via my Onkyo AV receiver.
Both worked fine on the previous version, so it looks like the update makes some kinds of connections to certain devices unstable or impossible.
Other threads posted seem to clarify this, perhaps due to it not waiting long enough to negotiate the HDCP connection on some TVs and projectors.
It certainly doesn't seem related to having rooted the phone. I've just watched a full film without issue on the working TV using Allshare.
Hopefully Samsung will note and address this issue quickly.

If I connect directly with LG TV it is works.
Same problem with my onkyo receiver just spent 45 minutes on the phone with Samsung support and got nowhere. GN2 Beans Build 21
Have tried contact with Samsung Support multiple times regarding this but they do not even seem to acknowledge the problem, still want me to do a factory reset of my phone... *sigh*.
As the rest, works perfectly connected directly to the TV but I can forget about the reciever. Have tried to find a way to revert firmware but seems impossible, has anyone got a clue how to go back to the previous dongle firmware?
can anyone tell me if (in the end) it is possible to have two remembered devices? e.g. two phones in the house... I've heard that in order to do this you need to reset de dongle each time you wanna connect a second phone...
any inputs?

Can you/any one please confirm this: I have a home WiFi network, and I am planning to Browse internet, watch youtube on my phone after connecting to all share dongle. will it possible to do it? I heard that you have to enable wifi direct on your phone to connect to the dongle, doing so will disconnect my phone from Wi-Fi Home network ... is it Rit?

Difficult to say at this stage, whilst they are similar in concept, the execution is very different. Chromecast doesn't screen mirror, but does stream separately from your device. I have both, and have different uses for both.

I use AllShare Cast on my Galaxy Note 2 and 8 - yes, it does connect via WiFi Direct, but this doesn't mean you are disconnected from your home network. i.e. you can still browse the web, watch Netflix etc whilst screen mirroring via AllShare.

Dave

thanks dave. Another thing here... buying allshare will limit the usage to only Samsung devices... any other device which can accept any android 4.0+ devices and mirror the screen on HD TV ???

It does appear as a Miracast device to my Nexus 4, which detects, connects, and mirrors.
My HTC One detects it and I've had it connect and mirror for a few seconds, but haven't been able to connect again.

Dave

Not anymore, it doesn't.
Google just pushed an OTA that breaks any kind of local streaming capability except the PC Chrome > Cast one.
It's obvious that the Chrome cast was subsidized by big media companies, and they didn't like it when devs like Koush were able to stream straight from phone to TV. This would make piracy easier.
This is absolutely ret... dumb. The biggest reason I bought Chromcast was to stream my photos and videos. My CC has been sitting behind my TV collecting dust since the day I got. I tried out Allcast, it was great. Then this came along... I'm considering returning my CC.
Hello, anyone know if it´s possible to emulate the allshare cast dongle with a PC ??
i mean, that piece of hardware must use some software that can be inatalles as a program in a notebook and then the notebook connected to the TV.
Could this be done?
PD: chrome cast doesn´t mirror the games for example and samsung dongle yes
Hello everyone.
Am I able to connect my lg g3 to samsungs allshare cast dongle for mirroring and etc.?
I have new Nexus 7 running clean rom and a Samsung 2013 smart tv. On my TV I go to screen mirroring and then it waits for a device to connect. On the Nexus 7 I go to wireless display and search. It finds my Samsung tv. I click on it, the nexus 7 says connecting and the TV says connecting to device as well. Then the TV says device connected. On the nexus it still says connecting. Then the TV goes black and then says screen mirroring has ended. On nexus it goes from connecting to my Samsung TV not being on the list anymore. On my Verizon galaxy s3 screen sharing works fine.
Do I need the allshare app on the nexus for this to work correctly? If so is there a version compatible with the new nexus 7?
If I don't need allshare app is there a mod I can do to get this to work?
Thanks for any help.

Do you have a samsung phone, with allshare cast on it? if not you may want to check for a software update / firmware update for your TV as the allshare cast dongle required a update for "Screen Mirroring" to work instead of being locked down to just samsung devices with "AllshareCast", even though AllshareCast is Miracast, which is what the n7's screen mirroring is.

Yes my Verizon Galaxy S3, which works fine on the TV and does have allshare cast on it. I did a firmware update on my TV about a week ago and just tried the screen mirroring today with that result. I will try again when I get home to see if maybe the nexus just needed a reboot and to see if any new firmwares came about on my TV since the last one.

I don't know that it's applicable to tv's also, but does your s3 have the allsharecast dongle software update, that was updated July 30th installed? It does kind of have a small reference to tv's in the app description, but it's horribly translated to English , so who knows what all it applies to really lol

I have exactly the same case here - unable to use my Samsung smart tv as wireless display for my N7 flo. Any ideas?
Exact same here with Nexus 4 and new 75F6300, with all updates.
Nexus 4 works fine with LG TVs that I tried.

So it should be samsung TV incompatibility then.
I never had luck getting this to work, but I wondered if the google chromecast, or any device in its $35 price range, can be used to successfully screen mirror from the new nexus 7.

Guys, if you are running custom roms and kernels, the chances of screen mirroring is near zero.
I see reports of some custom roms and kernels for my S4 with working display mirroring but that's like a 1 in 20 chance and I never could find one that worked for me. However, stock rom and kernel (even rooted) worked for me on the S4.
I'm running 4.3 stock rooted on my N7 and miracast work fine as well.
I'm using PTV3000 as the sink device so may be different from standalone TVs.

Your so right about that I have a locked bootloader xperia z on existenz rom based on stock xperia rom and I get screen mirror errors but the developer of the rom says its fine for him but ive only experience these errors since kitkat was released for xperia z ive been on about three different custom roms based on stock for xperia z and only one of those roms had working screen mirroring @niaboc79 please fix this problem ive been asking you for months cany you promise me it will be fixed in v2.0 please dont care how long it takes
Here it is 4 years later and I still can't find a solution.
Custom marshmallow roms usually support miracast, it should work with your older TV, nougat does not as I know, that's why I bought a used chromecast2. May a Dev will take care for it in the near future for nougat.
I have a Galaxy s7 and I'm screen mirror from my fire stick and it's been working just fine I been watching movies, now when I try to screen mirror to watch more movies it keeps saying smart view connection ended. What does this means?
