I've had that problem with Samsung tvs and SAMSUNG PHONES AND TABLETS. All settings are in place yet mirroring does not work, though viewing files/videos/movies/music does.
Twonky beam or allcast work very well but they push data rather than screen mirror.
btw, the same problem seems to exist in the ios world. Airplay allows for streaming not mirroring.
The only solution that has worked for me is either an mhl/slimport cable for android or apples proprietary lightning to hdmi cable. Using these, everything is accurately mirrored. Video quality is vastly improved as well.
Charlie

I've had no problem with transmitting from my pad to a Samsung smart TV from last year. I'll try to find the model later.

Looking for a wireless solution similar to Samsung all share.
I don't know if one but if you hear be sure to tell me too.
And unless Samsung changed All Share since I had my epic touch you couldn't wireless mirror. It only would let you do videos, audio, and images wirelessly. Please correct me if I am wrong but I am pretty sure on this.
I think what the poster is referring to is wirelessly mirroring everything like browsing the net and playing games.
To add to this, I saw a Korean video of someone demonstrating the optimus g on a tv while using the phone wirelessly. So it is possible. I don't know what app it was but I don't remember a cord. If I find the video I will post the link.
Edit: Here is the link. I see no wire.

I have a Netgear Miracast/Intel WiDi display adapter connected to my tv. The OG picks up the Netgear as a compatible adapter and seems ready to output to it wirelessly but when I tell it to connect, nothing happens. The OG says it is connecting but never actually does. I noticed though that the instructions the phone displays says to either connect the LG Miracast dongle or turn on the Miracast feature on the tv. So potentially a LG Miracast donlge exists that may allow for the use of mirroring the OG or maybe some LG tvs have this feature builtin and it can be used that way.

The Jelly Bean 4.1 update might add full compatibility. I would wait a week for the update and see if it's still giving you trouble, it might be a bug they have to fix.

I upgraded to JB and now when I try to use Miracast with my Netgear PTV3000, it works initially but disconnects after about 2 minutes every time. Also, when streaming HD video over Miracast, its now initially very jerky/choppy (lots of dropped frames), though it eventually smooths out but then as mentioned above, it disconnects. I had no such issues with ICS (everything worked fine) so I think the Miracast streaming/disconnect problems are due to some issue with the stock JB ROM and not my Netgear adapter.

Samsung allshare cast dongle

I have htc media link hd but GE based roms don't run this device. I gone to samsung centre, tried allshere cast dongle and ok..... GE 4.3 Setting > screen > wireless display. I bought one and happy. (1080p is ok)
Sorry my English.
but before conection reset device everytime
I'm not familiar with this device, but doesn't the Google Chromecast have more potential?
I have a samsung galaxy s4 and am planning to buy the allshare wifi dongle/cast, but i have a doubt after reading reviews in the Amazon on this product. Can you/any one please confirm this: I have a home WiFi network, and I am planning to Browse internet, watch youtube on my phone after connecting to all share dongle. will it possible to do it? I heard that you have to enable wifi direct on your phone to connect to the dongle, doing so will disconnect my phone from Wi-Fi Home network ... is it Rit?

Difficult to say at this stage, whilst they are similar in concept, the execution is very different. Chromecast doesn't screen mirror, but does stream separately from your device. I have both, and have different uses for both.

I use AllShare Cast on my Galaxy Note 2 and 8 - yes, it does connect via WiFi Direct, but this doesn't mean you are disconnected from your home network. i.e. you can still browse the web, watch Netflix etc whilst screen mirroring via AllShare.

Dave

It does appear as a Miracast device to my Nexus 4, which detects, connects, and mirrors.
My HTC One detects it and I've had it connect and mirror for a few seconds, but haven't been able to connect again.

Not anymore, it doesn't.
Google just pushed an OTA that breaks any kind of local streaming capability except the PC Chrome > Cast one.
It's obvious that the Chrome cast was subsidized by big media companies, and they didn't like it when devs like Koush were able to stream straight from phone to TV. This would make piracy easier.
This is absolutely ret... dumb. The biggest reason I bought Chromcast was to stream my photos and videos. My CC has been sitting behind my TV collecting dust since the day I got. I tried out Allcast, it was great. Then this came along... I'm considering returning my CC.
Hello, anyone know if it´s possible to emulate the allshare cast dongle with a PC ??
i mean, that piece of hardware must use some software that can be inatalles as a program in a notebook and then the notebook connected to the TV.
Could this be done?
PD: chrome cast doesn´t mirror the games for example and samsung dongle yes
Hello everyone.
Am I able to connect my lg g3 to samsungs allshare cast dongle for mirroring and etc.?

Screen mirroring?

Will the pixel be able to connect to smart TVs and miracast/screen mirror?
Miracast no. Requires licensing. Google cast of course.
Sent from my SM-N930T using Tapatalk
But Google cast only works if I have a chromecast? Like currently I have g5 and u can cast my phone's screen to any smart TV that is connected to the same WiFi and has that capability. I won't be able to that with the pixel?
it should work for you also with the Pixel
No.
G5 has Miracast that now is built-in in most SmartTVs.
Google stopped standard mirroring support (introduced in Nexus 4) - SlimPort for wired and Miracast for wireless - starting from Nexus 6. Thus, Pixel XL won't have Miracast support.
The only option for mirroring is Google's proprietary Google Cast way, that works with Chromecast or Android TV devices (either SmartTV - like Sony and Philips - and srt top boxes - like Razer's, Shield TV, Nexus Player, Mi Box, and a few others).

Screen mirror through usb to laptop

Question is since apparently i can not use sidesync to mirror my screen to my laptop any longer through usb or samsung focus or the windows phone app cause it only allows when connected to the same wifi. Does anyone know of a way to mirror to laptop through my usb. Also the laptop is a samsung 7 spin. This is the kind of crap that really pisses me off about samsung too they always mess with a good thing and it feels like they are scaling back on all the cool stuff that made them great before. Starting to act like freaking iphone.

If you are able too (or know how) you can setup a personal hotspot and connect the phone to your personal hotspot. I used to do this in school with my notebook, was a great way to keep an eye for important phone calls or messages while taking notes on html code or visual basic homework.
Otherwise for USB connections you can use Samsung dex for windows. While not exactly like screen mirroring (there are some very minor trivial differences) you still are able to interact with (and use) your phone and apps.

Samsung DEX IS the mirroring option you are loooking for. Or, I don't understand what YOU mean by mirroring.
What DEX does: after installing DEX for windows, connect your phone to the laptop/pc by means of a GOOD usb cable. In a few seconds you'll see on the screen of your computer part of the apps you have on your phone's Homescreen. Then you can use your laptop keyboard and mouse to work on your phone. It is true, that not all apps are compatible with DEX, part of them may work on full screen only and part of them only on a smaller window.
As I understand, you are looking for full mirroring which DEX doesn't provide. I think, but I'm not sure about this, you need an usb c to hdmi adaptor/cable in order to have your phone mirrored.

Ill look into buying this or similar and trying it out. Just that when im out in the middle of nowhere where my mom lives and of course no wifi and im trying to watch my streaming services from my phone to my moms tv i cant because cant smart view without internet. And so when i use up my hotspot data i used to connect to my laptop with sidesync then my laptop to my moms tv and be able to use my streaming services. Yes dex is o.k. but if i try watching dishanywhere wont work actually most streaming services dont work.

This is indeed the mirroring mode the original poster was looking for. I tried it and it works, but I don't see any advantage on using it. There is a 0.5 sec delay between acting on the Note 10+ and seeing the result on the big screen. Also, I tried switching my laptop's screen to portrait mode and then mirroring, hoping I will be able to get a bigger mirrored image, but I didn't.
What do you use for the screen mirroring? Watching movies?

Smartview Not Mirroring Properly

I think Samsung borked something up in Android 10. or at least in its Smartview app. I am unable to mirror to a Miracast WiFi adaptor, nor to a Miracast enabled TV. I enabled Miracast on a Sony TV and connected my Note 10+ to it. It connected to the TV, but it is not mirroring my phone's screen. It will show my photos and videos I have in Gallery, but it won't cast a video from Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, or Movies Anywhere. I tried it with a Microsoft Wireless Display Adaptor and got the same results.
My Galaxy Tab S5e has no problems mirroring to a Miracast TV or Miracast wireless adaptor. I connected and mirrored my Tab S5e to the exact same devices my Note 10+ connected to. I had no problems playing content from the same apps that I tried on my phone. My Tab S5e is running Android 9
Before I upgraded to Android 10, I had no problems mirroring my phone screen using Miracast.
I have tried rebooting my phone, clearing the cache on both Smartview and the phone, and clearing the data on Smartview. I have also reset my network connections on my phone.
You might have it in Dex mode instead of mirror mode

Yes. I've even tried a couple 3rd party Miracast mirroring apps and got identical results. Samsung borked up something either in Smartview or Android 10. I'm thinking Smartview is the problem.
I just tried it on my Samsung smart TV and got identical results. I couldn't get it to mirror properly on three different devices: a Sony TV, a Microsoft Wirelles Display Adaptor, and a Samsung Smart TV. It could be an issue with DeX, but I can't find where to check.

Yes. As well as clearing app cache and app data for Smart View. And it is a fact that my phone is not screen mirroring properly, not an opinion.

I think Smart View is a buggy thing. My phone won’t connect unless the source is set other than HDMI 1 (Sky). Even then I can’t set it to watch TV on my phone.
For me, the most annoying is the fact that I can’t zoom in while playing video in Smart View, like I can when playing it on the phone. Every time I try, I get the error on phone: “Zoom is not supported for this video size (176 x 144)” I’ve no idea what that means, whether it’s to do with Smart View, the Video Player or the TV its self.
Has anyone tried it?
My 10+ won't mirror, but my galaxy tab 4 works perfect.
Maybe it is the phones. Maybe it works flawlessly with Samsung TVs only.

You are not alone brother! I am having same issue with my a70 after android 10 upgrade. Thank you.
Looks like Sammy is deprecating Smart View come October so likely not going to be investing much in fixing defects.
Btw, I also tried it using both One UI and Microsoft Launcher and neither worked. I'm wondering if it is because of DRM.
