hello everybody, quick question and i apologize in advance if this has been covered somewhere else or for just being a dumb question in general; I have the LG G3 from sprint and a little over a month ago i had a friend root my phone and convert it back to stock android. In anticipation for android 5.0 I removed the root. for over the past week I have been spamming the update software button and still have no lollipop. one of my good friends told me that by converting back to stock android i probably disabled the over the air updates. I was wondering about how to go about getting the updates, i have seen some posts suggesting to use the lg flash tool but I did not really comprehend how to use it. sorry if this is something stupid still really new to android.
thanks

In that case its best if you take into your local sprint store and see if they can fix it for you
I highly do not advise trying to flash the Lollipop TOT files as a fair majority of people have bricked their phone since they did not do it properly or something went wrong during the process
Related
a guy came in today to my store with a bricked evo. he was holding off on the update because he heard there was a chance for it to brick his phone. he was at a party, and someone accepted the update, and now he is stuck in a permanent loop..
while the phone was off, i held the power and vol down button, did a clear storage a few times, and now it boots fine. will it revert back to the rebooting stage, or do you think it is ok?
Is this a joke?
Stock phone, stock OTA update.. maybe this question should be directed to Sprint Tech Support??
I don't know, just an idea..
Why would a sprint employee post on a development site about a warrentee problem?
Because he know that his internal support can't answer his question.
internal support sucks..
anyways, you guys didnt hear about the sprint 1.47.651.1 update bricking phones?? i didnt know if anyone here had an unofficial fix for it. i cleared the storage a few times, and now it works... it keeps asking me to download the oem1.32.651.6 OTA update, but then says its corrupted. everything else seems to work.
figured you guys would know more than anyone on any type of fix. i didnt know my questions deserved some rude answers.. i was just trying to help out the guy since we cant get the phones in stock for another week or so. guess thats what i get for trying to be a sprint employee that actually tries to help a customer.

As long as you follow the instructions I don't see any harm running the 1.47 ruu, just to know he has a clean install of the official 1.47 release.
Also, as far as I know there is no way at this point for the guy to revert back to an earlier sw version
Look HERE for the stock ruu's

Don't take it so personal man. That's the irony, a Sprint employee coming to a dev community to seek assistance on behalf of a customer running and having trouble with stock Sprint software.
Sprint really should build a bridge to the dev community. We COULD have a very symbiotic relationship, but I am all too familiar with bullsheet corporate prerogatives.

i completely agree.. i mean i have to get all of my answers from the internet..(especially xda), mainly because sprint tech sucks. their official forum for tech sucks as well. this is the first place i come for answers...
so for the ruu.. thanks! i usually use windows mobile, but does this ruu work the same on android? i just open it up, and run it?

I have zero experience with WinMo.
Plug your phone into the computer via usb, run the ruu.exe and follow the directions
If you're on a laptop make sure it's NOT set to sleep. Don't use the PC for ANYTHING else while the ruu is running. As long as the pc doesn't lose power and the phone doesn't lose power during the update then everything should run fine.
I ran that ruu on my last evo before I returned it for warranty replacement, the ruu took no more than 10-15 minutes from start to finish.
ok, cool.. sounds exactly like winmo.. thanks! im going to try it out as soon as its done downloading
Hi I'm hoping somebody here can help me. I just bought a new LG G3 & upon further inspection of the Phone I noticed an app installed called SuperSU. I did a little digging & it turns out this Phone is rooted. I don't want to lose my Warranty or OTA updates from T-Mobile so can somebody please walk me through the steps to remove this & start fresh from stock T-Mobile Phone please.
I'm not the best at this kind of stuff so I'll need a very nice person to walk me through this or if you have a video with clear instructions. Please & Thank you.

This is the best way I know of going back to stock.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-lg-g3/general/firmware-t-mobile-lg-g3-t2818667
Use either the KDZ or TOT method.
There is no "easy" one-click method and you are at risk of bricking your phone.
You can also try the LG Mobile Support Tool
This page is pretty easy to follow and is what I always use when refreshing my phone.

Good luck!

this cant be a "new phone" if Superuser was installed and its rooted
Having root doesn't void the warranty. Furthermore, by buying off somebody instead of a tmo rep, you already don't even have a warranty, unless Tue guy you bought it off still has one one it currently.
Hi guys
Can this be removed without root please? i was hoping like my Samsung that when i flashed to stock generic firmware it would remove this but it hasn't!!

Sorry yes the vodafone rubbish
Oh yea unfortunately that's the boot animation and that requires r/w access to the system which requires root for sure and on these g4's that write protection is intense man. You would do best finding a rooted system.img someone already rooted if that's the rout you go lol

true to some extent. but you have got the wrong message as i'm sure the OP was on about flashing non branded firmware.
i'm going to go guess that the OP has purchased a Vodafone G4 which has been on sale for £225 in the UK.
i wish i could get my hands on one!
the G4 we talk about here is the H815
now from what i tried, when i flash the non branded firmware, i get an annoying pop up about wrong customer ID.
i didn't flash it to MM for this reason as i just didn't want to risk it in case i lose the ability to downgrade.
it is to do with the CUST parition.
some users on forums have said MM update gets rid of the bootanimation and goes to the standard LG one.
Maybe someone who has tried it can provide feedback

Lol exactly m8, having been a previous Samsung owner for the last 4 phones i have found it really simple to apply the FW and get rid of the branded stuff that is found on them with the simple stock manufacturers latest generic FW. This phone however sounds like a bit of a ball bag to do. I have used the LGUP to get the 20D on it + bonus of the MM that appeared on it at the same time :good: i wasnt really bothered with that to be honest happy on LP, no idea why people are going so mad on these to be truthful. I think the screen on this is very average and the viewing angles are terrible , you have to have the screen on full 100% to be usable IMO, i got it to try as it was cheap but i don't understand the hype. I have come from my S5 sammy and its still fine i just wanted a bigger screen really, and my first choice the Moto X style is too much at the moment. BUT i still want to get rid of this Voda rubbish really annoys me lol. I take it i could root then unroot to get rid of it???

could come and bite you when you OTA.
how did you update using LGUP to MM? i mean was it a clean install using the refurb tickbox or just a write over?
i ask, as if you are to downgrade to LP and then use open euro LP, then you get an annoying pop up about cust value not correct or something (search LG G3 as it popped up there first) then flash MM.
i haven't found any solid info regarding debranding.
why does a 10 second boot animation bug you?
Easy folks, I spose I know what he´s talking about.
What you need is root, you do, no way around.
You then go to /cust/vdf_com and delete the folder "poweron". Now restart.
That´s it, you are welcome .
Why does it come up with the wrong cust number when flash another firmware? I don't it and it takes away the Vodafone start up. But it installed so much apps, so many Vodafone apps and a lot of foreign apps. Why does it do these things with unbranded firmware?
Root will remove your ability to take ota updates but as long as you have a kdz you can flash it to the state it came outta the box in, but idk if your variant has one. Just be careful I see more people brick trying to change a boot animation than some serious stuff, weird huh lol

It's no total biggy.. I just found it odd that a total wipe to generic firmware did not sort this like on the Samsung's. It got rid of the Vodafone apps. Like I have said if it's easy to do via root with a app etc it might be worth doing, and then just unroot. Looks like these LG phones are a bit of a pain as the Samsungs seem a lot simpler and the scene if bigger

Hello LaserWolf, thank you for the video and clarification. I got a question, actually a couple. Before I go on to that, I am going to explain my background a little bit.
Initially I was on rooted 13a without trouble and last month my phone got into the hardware failure/bootloop issue so I had to send my phone to LG. Just got it back with 25a installed fresh. I am not sure how LG does it, push a force update after fixing or just swap out entire hardware and pushed in MM 25a straight. So, I am wondering-
1) Would it make a difference in consideration of downgrading- whether the 25a version was upgraded from a previous version vs. 25a installed fresh?
2) When downgrading, does it matter if I use 13b rooted version instead of fresh?
Thank you in advance.

to be honest i dont know cause i had a few people saying they was on 25A and it fails on them at 9% some say they succeed to 13B (not 13A) my g4 just broke and in need of a replacement and its going to cost $150 to get it replaced, screen shattered incase you wonder what happened. so i know if i get a replacement i'm pretty sure i be on 25A but i do not have the money for a replacement, its going to be months before i get it unless someone helps, i wont ask for help here as i don't think XDA will be happy with that
my phone was on 13B i did a kdz using lgup and was able to downgrade from 25A to 13B.
if its true with the qfuse what ever its called then i guess we all be stuck on MM but i will find out once i get a replacement and i redo the video if i succeed on the downgrade, you can try it if you like, the worst that will happy is it will fail at 9%

i want to give you an update. i took my broken g4 and did the OTA cause i know when i get a replacement i be on 25A, so i took the OTA to 25A then downgrade it to 13B, again. no issues and i don't why some people are having issues and failing at 9%. i want to blame it on there OS or how things are installed. i redid my OS (downgrade to 8.1. the moron at MS sucks and made 10 worst) and i did the downgrade on my g4 to 13B with no issues. i will post a video to help out with my knowledge on how to get it to work, if it fails then i do not know, all i can say from that point is to contact me, ask me to remote your PC via teamviewer and i take a look at it. please note i ONLY support the VS986
a video of proof will be uploaded here soon

Thanks for all the responses. Sorry I was not get back to you earlier. I tried but hit a brick wall with LG UP, it stopped recognizing my phone, in any way. I even removed all software/drivers and reinstall latest versions of everything, but still no go. Tried switching to various different modes on the phone. Looked up online and followed various tricks suggested at various forums to have LGUP recognize phone, but until yesterday I did not have much luck.
But anyways, I have to put the project off for now since I have faced a larger issue. Because LG wiped it clean, it prompted an activation process, which killed my grandfathered UDP (angry face emoji). Currently arguing with VZW to try to get it back. Meanwhile going to use my old rooted G2. If I don't get it back, I will sell my G4 and use the money to pay VZW's ETF. If I get it back, going to retry rooting the G4.
Is there any working and safe root for ms428 (k10 metrocps variant)?
I have been looking everywhere. Tried kingoroot but still no go.
I am starting to get frustrated
I'm giving one more week then exchanging it. I too am surprised there's no root method out yet. I bricked and exchanged a device already. No success trying to recover the device either using the Spanish screenshot disaster explanation which doesn't work.

I would say LG Stylo is closest but the camera isn't as good. Lens and size is nice but hardware processing is crap, but seems like every store has been on back order for them and with Stylo 2 out it's probably going to be shelved soon. I have faith in King root for solid success with k10 soon though.

We cant even use link2sd. This phone has 16gb rom but can let us use only 10gb. Smh.
No 3d games for us. And were not even allowed to mount the sd card as internal storage. Only portable.
Maybe the Galaxy J. I loved the Stylo but the GPS didn't work if the phone got hot.

my patience is running out tho hahaha. 8gb worth of system files is crazy. they shouldve just put it as 8gb phone internal. instead of 16gb haha.
I'm running out of patience also. I've posted requests on android forums twice asking why there is no support for this phone and still haven't gotten a reply. It makes no sense whatsoever, when I got my old L70 there was a big support forum for it and the LgK10 is a much better phone so why no support? Pissing me off.
At least I would like a reason from Android Forums for why they have ignored the K10.

I'd buy the L70 again. It was an awesome little phone. Totally agree re: lack of communication. It looks like we had someone post up a failed root attempt about two weeks ago, along with another dev mentioning he'd start on it with no response since.
Devs, we just want to know if there's someone out there actively working on the K10. I can absolutely respect the time it takes to get it done right, but we can't tell if we're waiting on someone or no one.
I'm about ready to jump ship for the J7 or an original G Stylo (if I can get my hands on one). The bloat and stock setup on the K10 are maddening.
Can temp obtain root
I can get root temp using kingroot
Usjng the latest version of kingroot and will either root, or fail all the way to the request research for root button
I lose the root as soon as my phone restarts
The first time I tried it I got root, and phone made no restarts.
The second time I tried to get root back it eventually failed all the way to the research screen but the device did reboot several times during the kingroot root.
The latest time I rooted it the same as the first, no reboot.
I believe part of the problem is keeping kingroot as the superuser app, I think if I replace it with super su it may keep root.
I've seen several people say supersu ends up brick phone
