Is there any working and safe root for ms428 (k10 metrocps variant)?
I have been looking everywhere. Tried kingoroot but still no go.
I am starting to get frustrated
I'm giving one more week then exchanging it. I too am surprised there's no root method out yet. I bricked and exchanged a device already. No success trying to recover the device either using the Spanish screenshot disaster explanation which doesn't work.

strange since kingroot worked for me but bricked my device i would suggest being patient and wait for one to come out since Kingroot and lieky other one click root ways are off the table for rooting the K10

Yeah im thnking of returning it to metropcs too.
No root means no happiness haha.
What unit can we get tho if we return it? Anything thats close to this k10?

I would say LG Stylo is closest but the camera isn't as good. Lens and size is nice but hardware processing is crap, but seems like every store has been on back order for them and with Stylo 2 out it's probably going to be shelved soon. I have faith in King root for solid success with k10 soon though.

We cant even use link2sd. This phone has 16gb rom but can let us use only 10gb. Smh.
No 3d games for us. And were not even allowed to mount the sd card as internal storage. Only portable.
Maybe the Galaxy J. I loved the Stylo but the GPS didn't work if the phone got hot.

Well, I can answer one of your questions. The sd card slot over laps the sim card slot.

my patience is running out tho hahaha. 8gb worth of system files is crazy. they shouldve just put it as 8gb phone internal. instead of 16gb haha.
I'm running out of patience also. I've posted requests on android forums twice asking why there is no support for this phone and still haven't gotten a reply. It makes no sense whatsoever, when I got my old L70 there was a big support forum for it and the LgK10 is a much better phone so why no support? Pissing me off.
At least I would like a reason from Android Forums for why they have ignored the K10.

I'd buy the L70 again. It was an awesome little phone. Totally agree re: lack of communication. It looks like we had someone post up a failed root attempt about two weeks ago, along with another dev mentioning he'd start on it with no response since.
Devs, we just want to know if there's someone out there actively working on the K10. I can absolutely respect the time it takes to get it done right, but we can't tell if we're waiting on someone or no one.
I'm about ready to jump ship for the J7 or an original G Stylo (if I can get my hands on one). The bloat and stock setup on the K10 are maddening.
Can temp obtain root
I can get root temp using kingroot
Usjng the latest version of kingroot and will either root, or fail all the way to the request research for root button
I lose the root as soon as my phone restarts
The first time I tried it I got root, and phone made no restarts.
The second time I tried to get root back it eventually failed all the way to the research screen but the device did reboot several times during the kingroot root.
The latest time I rooted it the same as the first, no reboot.
I believe part of the problem is keeping kingroot as the superuser app, I think if I replace it with super su it may keep root.
I've seen several people say supersu ends up brick phone

I am but it looks like we may be screwed without any sort of help from the forums folks. It just doesn't make sense that they would bypass giving this phone any consideration for support.

what software version do you have?
I rooted before, then it bricked the phone. I sent it to warranty, after the sent it back, i cant root anymore

Just curious what the verdict is there. I had no problem rooting my first one, but now I have a bunch of paid root apps to carry over and it would suck to not be rooted because they are shipping with a patch or something.
Does anyone know the answer?
I even if it ships with th latest OTA you should still be able to root it. I believe there is a thread in the dev section that explains how to root the newest version

A video guide detailing every step is as simple as it gets . I have absolutely no knowledge in the inner workings of Android at all, but I got it all working.
Besides, I don't trust those three click root methods. They might miss an important step, neglect to permanently unlock the nand memory, etc.
My bootloader is still locked and I've never had root on this phone got it too late to unlock. I'd like to root and if I can get a custom recovery and flash a rom. Can anyone help?

Right now, there is no way to root or unlock the bootloader in your situation. It sucks, but it's where we are.
Don't hold your breath for an exploit, either. Motorola/Verizon closed all known holes for BL-unlocking in the penultimate Jellybean OTA, and the only root method that worked in the last JB no longer works here.
Enough with the KK unlock and root threads.
I'm going to start reporting people that make these threads without doing some homework first.
If you have a locked bootloader, you're pretty much up the creek without a paddle. End of discussion
If there is an exploit available, trust me, you'll know about it.

We can say this in every thread where they ask about root. We put warnings out prior to the OTA. Heck, we could probably put a sticky thread in this section about there being no root on KK, yet people will still ask. Why? Because they refuse to take 5 minutes to read through the other 37 KK related threads.

I of course can't speak for anyone else, but I knew the risks well before taking the update, and updated anyway.
I knew it was the very un-XDA thing to do, but frustration with the short battery life and UI lag on my phone was nearing a breaking point.
I tried to make the most of it; hence the "list of changes" thread, which hopefully has scared away locked users who are still n JB.
Any luck with a rootkeeper/root survival of any kind?

My story is somewhat different. I tried to find a way to get rooted KK on my phone (trying to play junior hacker again), ended up soft-bricking my phone to where the only way to fix it was to flash stock KK using RSDLite (did try RSD'ing JB first, but my bootloader was having none of that).
So now I'm hopelessly stuck with a completely stock phone without root.
I feel like the only way to get past this is to attack it politically, like if every single Verizon XDA user banded together and flooded Verizon corporate inboxes with legitimate reasons why we need unlocked bootloaders.
Or maybe if someone is good friends with a politician who is more left of center and concerned about consumer rights over corporations. Maybe convince them that it's better for the environment because potentially millions of phones could be saved from going into landfills if we mandate companies must allow bootloader to be unlocked when certain conditions are fulfilled, like if a phone reaches 1-year of age.

I new I was losing root with it as well. I liked the features that KK brought with the update and still did it. The update finally got me using Smart Actions and I'm getting pretty decent battery life, nothing mind blowing, but pretty good. Buying a portable battery pack has pretty much solved the problem I had with nonroot. Now I can go about 2 days as long as I carry it around, lol. Luckily it's small.

Flash a custom recovery via fastboot, and then flash SuperSU zip in recovery.

I attempted it myself and got errors just like some other people. Only difference is they still had root and I don't. I suggest following the thread and seeing if it does someday work for us or somebody could attempt it themselves. I'm currently on windows 8.1 so that could be a problem.

^^^He doesn't need an exploit since he has an unlocked BL. Also, this has been checked on the M and HD family of devices, it WILL NOT work because the the current KK updates have already patched the hole that this exploit is meant to take advantage of.

And what about aka test points? Many Motorola models had such special test points using which you could get unlock of BL. How about our XT907? Any ideas about test points or shortcircuit of contacts?

Towel Root only allows the root access that Motopocalypse needs. The old trust zone was accidentally (or purposely) put back into this OTA, that's what Motopocalyse exploits.

Ok I have been reading a lot of Posts on Root/Root unlock boot loader. I am a little confused with all of it. I am coming from a LG G2 to the LG G4 on Verizon
If I remember, I rooted my G2 with iRoot. I am not someone that plays with roms. I am only interested in rooting my phone so I am able to use Hot Spot if needed, and a few apps like Titanium Backup. As well as being able to turn off some of the bloat ware.
(Q) - Am I able to Root my phone for the things I listed? Or do I need to wait for the wonderful DEV community to be able to unlock the boot loader?

I do understand that. Just so much info flying around, and with work and everything else, just not enough time to read all of it.
It is good to see people are working on cracking the egg so to speak.
I love root. It is pretty important to me. I have rooted every device I have ever owned (and many for many people). I value things like:
1. using deeper control of Tasker (GPS, airplane mode, etc.)
2. using deeper control of Root Explorer file manager
3. Using a root run firewall to block data access (versus VPN if no root)
4. Running AdAway to kill every conceivable ad I can from apps to websites (XDA is terrible w/ ads for example)
5. using root based exploits of other apps like Lightflow or backup utilities or call blocking tools (since you can only do 10 SMS/phone # blocks on VZW and they only last 90 days)
6. using root apps to freeze and delete bloat
7. and of course, having something like CWM or TWRP
8. Xposed!
With Verizon, I have watched it become more and more of a PITA. But I loved the specs of this phone so much, I took the leap praying root will come to us without any loss or damage of native functions.
So assume the exploit used by current AIO LG root tool is closed on the G4.

I just managed to get this device from someone the other day. Having been an iphone 5c user for a while, going to a 5c after my last frustrating and horrible android experience with an HTC inspire device, I am back on android for the storage expansion so that I can play emulator games- only to find myself pulling my hair out ONCE AGAIN after all the numerous conflicting advice/ threads/tutorials out here which I have countless wasted hours on already. I don't have time to read through tutorials promising a downgrade from lollipop to kit kat, in hopes of a root so I can pair my ps3 controller wirelessly to my device... constantly stuck on odin failing and what have you, so just give it to me dry and clean. Please help as this is extremely frustrating and annoying.
Can I or can I not root this device? if so How? ( please provide detailed instructions as i don't know what the lingo is around here) If not i'm putting this thing right back on craigslist where I got it from. I am running 5.0.1

Have not read enough, if you have a Verizon locked bootloader... Recommend to put it right away to Craigslist because no root has been found good luck
If you can deal with root on a temp basis, meaning it is lost every reboot, then go that route. Otherwise as EdrickMg stated, it is not available.
How do I know whether the bootloader is locked or not? I might want to buy an N910V, as its much cheaper than international/Indian version, but I need to make sure whether or not the bootloader is unlocked. Cause I can't even think about not rooting a phone in first one hour of purchase. What could I ask the seller to confirm about the bootloader?
If it's a Verizon Note 4, then the bootloader is locked. There is no permanent rooting method for this phone. People are still hopeful that there might be one coming, but I'm willing to bet that there'll never be a method to root it. This phone has been out since October of 2014, with no root method found. There is a temporary root method that will allow you to root your phone, but the next time you reboot, it's gone and your phone is re-locked. To me, that's a lot of effort for something that you lose whenever you reboot your phone, but that's just my opinion. Also, this temporary root is just root - it doesn't unlock your bootloader.
If you absolutely must have a rootable phone with unlocked bootloader, then look elsewhere.
The only thing that we do have is debloater, which is a method that allows us to turn off and block almost anything we want. For me, that's enough, because the only reason I'd want root is to uninstall all of the crap that comes with this phone. It doesn't get rid of the junk, it just turns it off and keeps it from running.
If you want root to be able to install an ad blocker or to install custom kernels and/or ROMs, you cannot do it on this phone and likely (in my opinion), never will be able to.
Okay, I don't understand all these contract things as we don't have them in our country, but Verizon Note 4 and N910V, they are different? If not, how come there is a custom ROM and kernel for the SM-N910V model? The phone does show a red screen where Verizon is written on it. I am not understanding this!

There is a Verizon Note 4 Developers Edition that comes with an unlocked bootloader and it is rootable. I had to buy it straight from Samsung at full retail price. Totally worth it in my opinion. It is no longer available for sale on the Samsung site though

yes sad, so sad that Permanent root was never fount! I am disappointed with Verizon over this......

So what if u have a bootloader that starts with 15? I got 90% on kingoroot running a crap ton of random apps in the backgroundI thought I had it but bam root failed keep in mind I'm on marshmallow to anyone else get 90% are we really close or is it just a trick lol

So your bootloader is unlocked already, correct? You need to have an unlocked bootloader and be running Lollipop, here's the thread that shows you how/what to do...

Thanks bud I'll try it tonight! I gone like 6 pages into Google trying to find something that works I got a little confused on the baseband version part. This is a silly question but if I have mine on
N910VVRU2CPF3 and use Odin and flash version: N910VVRU1ANJ5 it won't brick my device? And no my bootloader is not unlocked yet

You'll want to flash the N910VVRU2BPA1_N910VVZW2BPA1_N910VVRU2BPA1_HOME.tar .md5 file in ODIN as that is the firmware that Lollipop expects/works on. I don't know what android version N910VVRU1ANJ5 firmware is for. Flashing N910VVRU1ANJ5 shouldn't brick your phone but you will need to have it on N910VVRU2BPA1 to install Lollipop and root.
Trust me, just follow the instructions in the post I previously linked. It's all laid out for you in what is pretty much the easiest way you can do it. As long as you do it in the order listed, with the files provided, it will work.

Wait hold on my bootloader is locked will it still work? Sorry for the annoying questions I'm a little rusty cause I only get a new phone every 2 years so I barely ever root lol
Rooting this phone is pretty tricky and you may have to repeat the process a few times for it to work. Follow the guide custom_roms_epeptic posted, that's the one I used and even though it took me a couple hours to go from stock to Nseven, it did indeed work. I would recommend using the version of kingoroot found in the zip contained in that guide, I tried kingroot and the newest version of kingoroot and both got hung up at 90% or just didn't work at all.

Part of the steps you will be doing will be to unlock the bootloader, this is mandatory. If your CID starts with 15, you can change the CID of your device to that of a dev edition device, which can then have its bootloader unlocked. Like I said before, it's all laid out for you in the other thread.

Okay so I FLash the downgrade and then unlock the bootloader

First off, I am a newbie here, so please be kind.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 (SM-N910V), running Android 6.0.1 stock Verizon ROM.
I have been getting some strange battery issues. Not charging to 100%, shutting off at 35%, stuff like that.
I have wiped the cache partition and done a factory reset with no luck.
I have replaced the battery.
When I boot into recovery mode, I get dead Android, no command.
I don't know if the problems are related, but I suspect so.
Don't know what else to do. Any help would be appreciated.

Do you have an unlocked bootloader (root)? You could try reflashing twrp with odin to get recovery back.
No, not rooted. Have always been afraid to brick the device. If that is the direction that I have to go then I will give it a shot. I figure there are enough directions on here I could probably figure it out.

If you don't want to root, you could try flashing the cpd1 firmware with odin and that should overwrite what might be throwing off your battery calibration. Unless it's a hardware problem that is. Are you comfortable using odin? Also if you have no interest in rooting, you could flash the most recent firmware.
I am a little familiar with Odin. I used it to put Android 6.0.1 onto my phone. Cpd1? This is the first that I am hearing (or reading) anything about cpd1. I would be interested in rooting, the biggest problem that I have with doing so is that most of the instructions that I have found are written for someone who has a better grasp of this stuff that I do. Do you know of any simple step-by-step walkthroughs? One that a newbie like myself could actually follow.
From what I've read about rooting, I am definitely interested, but still paranoid about bricking the phone. I do have an S5 as a backup if need be, so I am reluctantly willing to give it a shot.

I was just referring to the first mm firmware that ends with cpd1 and the reason I suggested that particular one was just in case you were thinking of rooting. If you use any of the "safe" firmwares you should be ok though. I agree about the rooting process, it's not the most user friendly thing I've ever seen, but it really isn't as bad as it looks. As long as your using the files provided in those threads there really isn't a huge risk in bricking your phone. Worst case scenario, you get into a jam that takes a little while to get out of so be sure that you leave yourself time to recover in case you can't use your phone for a couple hours. I think the worst part is the instability of kingroot which means you have to do all the adb commands as quick as possible and the fact that if you want mm you have to do the root process twice. These are the two posts that got me through it:

First off, thanks for your help. I appreciate it.
I finally got around to trying to do this with my phone and I can't even get past the first step. Install King Root, 4.8.5. I've tried 4.8.5 and 5.0, and neither one of them can get root access. Don't know what else to try.

Did you ever have any luck with kingroot? If you haven't tried already, do a factory reset before you start the process and if it fails uninstall, reboot, reinstall and try again. I know it's a frustrating process and it seems to take most people many tries. When it fails on you how far does it get?
Kingroot was really frustrating. It would never get past 52%. After countless tries I moved to kingoroot. Kingo root worked on first try. Glad I unlocked and rooted my note 4

No luck on Kingroot. It usually dies around 25% or so. Sometimes a little before that and sometimes after that. It never even got into the 35% range.
What I think I am going to do is go back to kitkat, original samsung rom. Try Kingoroot and see if that works. If not, I will push lolipop to it and try kingoroot again. If that doesn't work, I will try to push Marshmallow to it and try one more time. Hopefully one of them will be successful.
Ive never had issues bringing a device back on OS but this N4 is kicking my a&% bad. bought a used ( basically new ) sm-n910v it was updated to 6.0.1 mm and I'm not crazy about the MM I like KK and ive tried every firmware file known to man ive tried to slowly step back from 6.0 to 5.1.1 then 5.0 then 4.4.4 and they all fail says binary fused to boot 1 or something else and with 5.1.1 gets right to the end 99% then fails. would like to root and BL unlock any suggestions would be great. thanx in advance.

I believe you can only get root on kk with a developer edition version of the v model. If it's a retail version and you want root it has to be at least 5.1.1 unfortunately. Have you tried the links in this post? Imo those are the best guides that I've seen to get your bootloader unlocked.

Yah I've tried most of them 5.1.1 gets to 98% then pooches out its exciting then bombs out, lol 4.4 doesn't get passed cache then fails. I'm using Odin 30.9, high quality data cable, thing is I can't move 》 till I can root to unlock the bootloader. My CID is 150 so that's good and I'm factory resetting the phone and pulling the SD card so it cannot mess with the flash. I'm running the NO_ A boot firmware that flashed perfect. Maybe I'm doing something wrong but I'm following the directions to the point.

I'll give it a shot, right now I'm a Lil burned out on trying this because my other phone LG g4 is boot looped for no reason so I'm down to just my N4 and my N3 my gf has it. I forsee a big cup of coffee at 3am and let the flashing begin. Oh FYI I did try I think Odin 3.10 version it failed quicker so I'll try this version in the morning. back on topic, I'm seeing kernel wakelocks for msm_hsic_host on Oscar kernel v1.3 but I'm pretty sure that was not always the case. Since that kernel hasn't been updated in a little while, I'm looking at others. Anyone got a preferred kernel with JasmineROM 7?

Reflashed and thought the wakelocks were gone, but not so. msm_hsic_host appears to be related to cellular.

What I've noticed with this bootloader unlock is, like right now I'm 5.1.1 and my bootloader is unlocked but not rooted. OK if I use the the no A boot 6.0.1 file to flash mm it's stay unlocked and you can be rooted but if you use the normal full firmware 6.0.1 cpd1 file you lose your unlocked BL and back to start. Normally you unlock a BL it's stays unlocked no matter what you do. OK bugs with the no A boot 6.0.1 mm file no WiFi that's it. I really dislike 5.1.1 it sucks so there's not a lot of choices here. Good work on this exploit though.
