Hi guys
Can this be removed without root please? i was hoping like my Samsung that when i flashed to stock generic firmware it would remove this but it hasn't!!
Wait you mean the boot animation? Is the logo you're talking about come up during boot?

Sorry yes the vodafone rubbish
Oh yea unfortunately that's the boot animation and that requires r/w access to the system which requires root for sure and on these g4's that write protection is intense man. You would do best finding a rooted system.img someone already rooted if that's the rout you go lol

true to some extent. but you have got the wrong message as i'm sure the OP was on about flashing non branded firmware.
i'm going to go guess that the OP has purchased a Vodafone G4 which has been on sale for £225 in the UK.
i wish i could get my hands on one!
the G4 we talk about here is the H815
now from what i tried, when i flash the non branded firmware, i get an annoying pop up about wrong customer ID.
i didn't flash it to MM for this reason as i just didn't want to risk it in case i lose the ability to downgrade.
it is to do with the CUST parition.
some users on forums have said MM update gets rid of the bootanimation and goes to the standard LG one.
Maybe someone who has tried it can provide feedback

Lol exactly m8, having been a previous Samsung owner for the last 4 phones i have found it really simple to apply the FW and get rid of the branded stuff that is found on them with the simple stock manufacturers latest generic FW. This phone however sounds like a bit of a ball bag to do. I have used the LGUP to get the 20D on it + bonus of the MM that appeared on it at the same time :good: i wasnt really bothered with that to be honest happy on LP, no idea why people are going so mad on these to be truthful. I think the screen on this is very average and the viewing angles are terrible , you have to have the screen on full 100% to be usable IMO, i got it to try as it was cheap but i don't understand the hype. I have come from my S5 sammy and its still fine i just wanted a bigger screen really, and my first choice the Moto X style is too much at the moment. BUT i still want to get rid of this Voda rubbish really annoys me lol. I take it i could root then unroot to get rid of it???

could come and bite you when you OTA.
how did you update using LGUP to MM? i mean was it a clean install using the refurb tickbox or just a write over?
i ask, as if you are to downgrade to LP and then use open euro LP, then you get an annoying pop up about cust value not correct or something (search LG G3 as it popped up there first) then flash MM.
i haven't found any solid info regarding debranding.
why does a 10 second boot animation bug you?
Easy folks, I spose I know what he´s talking about.
What you need is root, you do, no way around.
You then go to /cust/vdf_com and delete the folder "poweron". Now restart.
That´s it, you are welcome .
Why does it come up with the wrong cust number when flash another firmware? I don't it and it takes away the Vodafone start up. But it installed so much apps, so many Vodafone apps and a lot of foreign apps. Why does it do these things with unbranded firmware?
Root will remove your ability to take ota updates but as long as you have a kdz you can flash it to the state it came outta the box in, but idk if your variant has one. Just be careful I see more people brick trying to change a boot animation than some serious stuff, weird huh lol

It's no total biggy.. I just found it odd that a total wipe to generic firmware did not sort this like on the Samsung's. It got rid of the Vodafone apps. Like I have said if it's easy to do via root with a app etc it might be worth doing, and then just unroot. Looks like these LG phones are a bit of a pain as the Samsungs seem a lot simpler and the scene if bigger

Im sure im just getting overly excited and so i wanted a second opinion, but did CF-Auto Root release a root for the verizon models (SM-N910V) i went to the website and scrolled through model list and found one listed , i dont want to brick my phone or anything so could anyone tell me if this is correct, will this work with odin and root the verizon model note 4??

Next time check this thread first. This has been discussed in the last couple of pages and probably more. If the file isn't signed by Samsung it will not flash. It shouldn't brick it, it will just fail to flash. Been there and done that... I probably tried all the root methods available for kitkat 4.4.4 and none work for the retail version.

Root for Lollipop is MUCH more difficult, basically you need to find a way to get a custom kernel (and thus unlocked bootloader) just to get root in L. I wouldn't get my hopes up, at this point as a Verizon Note 4 owner I've given up all hope and just enjoy my phone, its still awesome.
People just repeat nonsense non stop, saying rooting lollipop is much more difficult without a LP image for the device is nothing but nonsensical. All rooting any device/os is the ability to find an exploit on the device. It has much less to do with what android. THE ONLY THING IT HAS TO DO WITH: Is finding an exploit in a stock system to hijack system permissions so u can then make changes to give you admin (ROOT) permission all the time. With an unlocked BL your are able to load your own software pre OS so you are not dependant on finding an exploit in order to get root in OS your options are much greater. And that's it, anything else is pure speculation, so us not having LP on our device you can not claim it will be easier or harder, an exploit is an exploit that's in. So keep the absurd comments coming. Don't bother replying to me because no reason for me to come back here to find more nonsense.

hello everybody, quick question and i apologize in advance if this has been covered somewhere else or for just being a dumb question in general; I have the LG G3 from sprint and a little over a month ago i had a friend root my phone and convert it back to stock android. In anticipation for android 5.0 I removed the root. for over the past week I have been spamming the update software button and still have no lollipop. one of my good friends told me that by converting back to stock android i probably disabled the over the air updates. I was wondering about how to go about getting the updates, i have seen some posts suggesting to use the lg flash tool but I did not really comprehend how to use it. sorry if this is something stupid still really new to android.
thanks

I highly do not advise trying to flash the Lollipop TOT files as a fair majority of people have bricked their phone since they did not do it properly or something went wrong during the process
I just managed to get this device from someone the other day. Having been an iphone 5c user for a while, going to a 5c after my last frustrating and horrible android experience with an HTC inspire device, I am back on android for the storage expansion so that I can play emulator games- only to find myself pulling my hair out ONCE AGAIN after all the numerous conflicting advice/ threads/tutorials out here which I have countless wasted hours on already. I don't have time to read through tutorials promising a downgrade from lollipop to kit kat, in hopes of a root so I can pair my ps3 controller wirelessly to my device... constantly stuck on odin failing and what have you, so just give it to me dry and clean. Please help as this is extremely frustrating and annoying.
Can I or can I not root this device? if so How? ( please provide detailed instructions as i don't know what the lingo is around here) If not i'm putting this thing right back on craigslist where I got it from. I am running 5.0.1
All I want to do is pair my ps3 controller wirelessly to my note 4, thought I would be able to do that until sixaxis said it needed 'root access' :silly:
if theres a way to circumvent this, please let me know. I do NOT WANT to use a corded controller with this. Battery life is already kinda sucky on this phone so i'll ened to charge the device as i'm playing

Have not read enough, if you have a Verizon locked bootloader... Recommend to put it right away to Craigslist because no root has been found good luck
If you can deal with root on a temp basis, meaning it is lost every reboot, then go that route. Otherwise as EdrickMg stated, it is not available.
How do I know whether the bootloader is locked or not? I might want to buy an N910V, as its much cheaper than international/Indian version, but I need to make sure whether or not the bootloader is unlocked. Cause I can't even think about not rooting a phone in first one hour of purchase. What could I ask the seller to confirm about the bootloader?
If it's a Verizon Note 4, then the bootloader is locked. There is no permanent rooting method for this phone. People are still hopeful that there might be one coming, but I'm willing to bet that there'll never be a method to root it. This phone has been out since October of 2014, with no root method found. There is a temporary root method that will allow you to root your phone, but the next time you reboot, it's gone and your phone is re-locked. To me, that's a lot of effort for something that you lose whenever you reboot your phone, but that's just my opinion. Also, this temporary root is just root - it doesn't unlock your bootloader.
If you absolutely must have a rootable phone with unlocked bootloader, then look elsewhere.
The only thing that we do have is debloater, which is a method that allows us to turn off and block almost anything we want. For me, that's enough, because the only reason I'd want root is to uninstall all of the crap that comes with this phone. It doesn't get rid of the junk, it just turns it off and keeps it from running.
If you want root to be able to install an ad blocker or to install custom kernels and/or ROMs, you cannot do it on this phone and likely (in my opinion), never will be able to.
Okay, I don't understand all these contract things as we don't have them in our country, but Verizon Note 4 and N910V, they are different? If not, how come there is a custom ROM and kernel for the SM-N910V model? The phone does show a red screen where Verizon is written on it. I am not understanding this!

There is a Verizon Note 4 Developers Edition that comes with an unlocked bootloader and it is rootable. I had to buy it straight from Samsung at full retail price. Totally worth it in my opinion. It is no longer available for sale on the Samsung site though

So your bootloader is unlocked already, correct? You need to have an unlocked bootloader and be running Lollipop, here's the thread that shows you how/what to do...

I used the instructions in that thread and didn't have any issues.

You'll want to flash the N910VVRU2BPA1_N910VVZW2BPA1_N910VVRU2BPA1_HOME.tar .md5 file in ODIN as that is the firmware that Lollipop expects/works on. I don't know what android version N910VVRU1ANJ5 firmware is for. Flashing N910VVRU1ANJ5 shouldn't brick your phone but you will need to have it on N910VVRU2BPA1 to install Lollipop and root.
Trust me, just follow the instructions in the post I previously linked. It's all laid out for you in what is pretty much the easiest way you can do it. As long as you do it in the order listed, with the files provided, it will work.

Wait hold on my bootloader is locked will it still work? Sorry for the annoying questions I'm a little rusty cause I only get a new phone every 2 years so I barely ever root lol
Rooting this phone is pretty tricky and you may have to repeat the process a few times for it to work. Follow the guide custom_roms_epeptic posted, that's the one I used and even though it took me a couple hours to go from stock to Nseven, it did indeed work. I would recommend using the version of kingoroot found in the zip contained in that guide, I tried kingroot and the newest version of kingoroot and both got hung up at 90% or just didn't work at all.

Part of the steps you will be doing will be to unlock the bootloader, this is mandatory. If your CID starts with 15, you can change the CID of your device to that of a dev edition device, which can then have its bootloader unlocked. Like I said before, it's all laid out for you in the other thread.

Is there any working and safe root for ms428 (k10 metrocps variant)?

I would say LG Stylo is closest but the camera isn't as good. Lens and size is nice but hardware processing is crap, but seems like every store has been on back order for them and with Stylo 2 out it's probably going to be shelved soon. I have faith in King root for solid success with k10 soon though.

my patience is running out tho hahaha. 8gb worth of system files is crazy. they shouldve just put it as 8gb phone internal. instead of 16gb haha.
I'm running out of patience also. I've posted requests on android forums twice asking why there is no support for this phone and still haven't gotten a reply. It makes no sense whatsoever, when I got my old L70 there was a big support forum for it and the LgK10 is a much better phone so why no support? Pissing me off.
At least I would like a reason from Android Forums for why they have ignored the K10.

I'd buy the L70 again. It was an awesome little phone. Totally agree re: lack of communication. It looks like we had someone post up a failed root attempt about two weeks ago, along with another dev mentioning he'd start on it with no response since.
Devs, we just want to know if there's someone out there actively working on the K10. I can absolutely respect the time it takes to get it done right, but we can't tell if we're waiting on someone or no one.
I'm about ready to jump ship for the J7 or an original G Stylo (if I can get my hands on one). The bloat and stock setup on the K10 are maddening.
Can temp obtain root
I can get root temp using kingroot
Usjng the latest version of kingroot and will either root, or fail all the way to the request research for root button
I lose the root as soon as my phone restarts
The first time I tried it I got root, and phone made no restarts.
The second time I tried to get root back it eventually failed all the way to the research screen but the device did reboot several times during the kingroot root.
The latest time I rooted it the same as the first, no reboot.
I believe part of the problem is keeping kingroot as the superuser app, I think if I replace it with super su it may keep root.
I've seen several people say supersu ends up brick phone

I am but it looks like we may be screwed without any sort of help from the forums folks. It just doesn't make sense that they would bypass giving this phone any consideration for support.
Count me as someone else looking to root this phone

Screen shot below please put together since I can't post links yet

OK I need some help / advice... My Note 4 is running lollipop version 5.0.1 N910AUCU2COC6. "This is where it was when I unlocked my phone" I currently am in the EU using a Telekom card "hence why I unlocked it"
I would IDEALLY LOVE to remove all the bloatware and have it on basically a stock non branded OS so it is clean and runs fast but also would love to have the latest software with should be Marshmallow "Nougat isn't available yet is it?"
After a bit more research I found this:
--SM-N910A(Qualcomm Snapdragon 805)------[USA AT&T]-------------------{FDD-LTE+WCDMA+GSM}
--SM-N910F(Qualcomm Snapdragon 805)------[Europe]---------------------{FDD-LTE+WCDMA+GSM} 【Firmware:N910FXXU1ANIE】
So would it be possible to replace the AT&T version files with the Europe version files to be rid of all the bloatware stuff etc?
Needless to say I have questions as I have never done this before:
1 - is it possible to have a non branded OS and still be able to use it globally as in still use AT&T or T-mobile or even still in the EU if desired to?
2 - is it possible to get it to a point where it will update itself after doing the above step no matter where I go?
3 - Is it worth it putting Marshmallow on it or will it drag down the phone ram etc and if its ok with that then what about Nougat?
4 - I've read about bricking your phone...is it true that you can always UNBRICK it and at least go back to where it was?
5 - I downloaded Smart Switch and got a backup already, read a bit about using odin but am not totally clear on it yet, is there any other software I should get familiar with?
6 - Is there a fairly clear and simple guide for doing this, it seems to look harder than it is from what I am reading...or is everyone here masters at this and so therefore I would be an idiot?
7 - I guess my final and simple question would be is there a way on any of these OS to turn off the popup notifications yet still have the sound and light notifications? I want them just not popups blocking my screen
I am a noob of course but I believe anybody can do anything if the right questions are asked and the right people are giving the right answers.. the rest is just time consuming.
Also I don't mind tackling 1 thing at a time either so any help or tips from you pros is more than welcome.
Thank you much in advance
Simple answer no.
Complex answer sorta. ....the att variant is still bootloader locked and unrooted so u can't remove alot of the apps or install custom os/roms; though u can disable alot of the att ones.
As for mm u can throw ure old att sim in it and download the update to marmellow. reviews are mix some ppl love it some don't. You also can use Odin to do it manually there is a tutorial on the front page it's pretty straight forward.
As for notifications there's apps and launchers u can try but im not 100% sure which will do what u want. Personally I changed my settings to silent with only the led flashing in the stock settings so I'm content .
Hope I helped u a lil. Look around ull be surprised with how much u can customize without root.
Ps. Sim unlock and bootloader unlock and root are all diferent. Sim is for sim card. Bootloader unlock to install non samsung/touch wiz rom like aops and cyanogen. Root to install any rom or remove stock apps and lots of other root apps and goodness.
OK thanks for that info, so basically it was fraud...lol If they would have told me that paying the money to unlock my phone only meant the sim unlock I wouldn't have done it and instead I would have outright bought an unlocked bloatware free phone instead.
OK so having found out that, I guess I have to root the phone, remove the AT&T OS...install another version that is bloatware free then "unroot" the phone again? Is that possible and if so will it get future updates? You mentioned that you changed your settings, I can't figure out what to change exactly, I just don't want the popup stuff.... I like the flashing light for notifications and don't mind the sounds etc just don't want the popup interrupting whatever I am reading or doing and having to wait for it to disappear so I can continue. Maybe the next software update would have allowed some other setting that I don't currently have?
Is it true that basically you can never totally "brick" your phone? That there is always some way to get back?
In a perfect world I just imagine that Samsung in their wisdom has an OS that is just Samsung, runs clean and free of ram wasting stuff yet works all over and allows you to do all that your allowed to on an Android yet is secure etc. I just want to get my phone as close to that as possible with the updates coming with no issues. Am I dreaming or can this be done?
Unfortunately the locked bootloader prevents loading any other samsung variant like the international version. And attempting root on this phone can permanently root ure phone so I would not try it. the only root availed is shaky at best and only last a few secs so not worth the risk. All you can do is DiSable the att crap without root just go into app manager. There's plenty of reviews of marmallow floating around here . I'm still on 5.1 .1 cause I got it customized to my liking. It's easy to upgrade with Odin just follow the tutorial on the front page. Just make sure u install the drivers and let ure phone be recognized b4 u try to start to flash. Ull just get errors otherwisr.
OK thanks again, now that I totally understand that my phone won't do what I hope for I guess I will just look into that update and see whats the difference between 5.0.1 and 5.1.1 to see if its worth that hassle..lol.

There's almost no difference between 5.0.1 and 5.1.1 just minor update. U gotta go to 6.0.1 to see a difference.
Have similar problem phone is laggy and from time to time stuck in boot-loop. As I'm in Europe as well wanted to get rid of that evil At&t stuff but no luck.
