Has anyone experienced this before with the Facebook app? Something's throwing it for a loop! It only seemed to start with the latest app update. However, I am also using TeslaUnread with Nova Prime (I also use Pushbullet, but disabled the notification push for Facebook). Guess that's a place to start, disabling Tesla for Facebook and see where that takes me. The investigation continues, but I thought I'd post here to see if anyone else has seen this before with a similar config.

Thanks guys, will look into that.
Go into app settings in Facebook and disable sync and refresh time to never. That slows Facebook battery drain. Good luck

Yes, saw that one day. It was surprising just how bad it was. I uninstalled Facebook, reset, and reinstalled later. It's been fine since, but the problem may recur (I don't know why it happened in the first place).

I went ahead and set the app to never auto-refresh (looks like it doesn't affect the notifications, so that's good), since I don't need my news feed updating every hour when I can just do that when I go into the app. I've been just closing the app completely every time I'm done using it for the past few days, but I think I'll give it another go letting it run in the background, and see how it does. I did notice a couple other people mentioned bad Note 4 battery on the latest reviews in the Play Store.

Something is causing my phone not to sleep. Looks like it's trying to sync because the sync icon is always there. Google Framework Services is listed in Spare Parts. I've tried removing all my accounts. Killing the data in Gmail. Still stuck. Any other ideas?
Looks like it may have been ooVoo. I had tried killing it, killing it's service, both with no luck. Checked CatLog and saw that it was still throwing an exception. Cleared data on it and sync icon went away. Now to wait and see if that was the culprit.
Mine was stuck syncing too, found it was picasa...didn't want that, not sure how it got checked but in checking stopped it.

I ended up uninstalling ooVoo... HUGE difference in battery life. I was shocked.

Anybody else having an issue with FB wiggin out? When I open it, it constantly refreshes and is unusable. I have tried clearing cache and force closing.

Nope mine is running great. I'm running 1.6.0
I use to have that problem before. I don't remember exactly how I fixed it ( might have uninstalled then re-installed) but I wiped the Rom I was using and flashed a new one and it worked like a charm.
Sent from my beast
It's a known bug in 1.6.0. Check the comments in the market. Every other comment is about this.

I did have this problem yesterday/today. I tried to uninstall then reinstall and it wouldnt reinstall I had to get the .apk file that worked. I think it was something in the ROM went wacky since several things are not working now - I have to do a wipe /reflash. Not sure why this happened out of the blue.
Use friend caster pro in the market

Mine did too. I downgraded to a backup I had of 1.5.4. That, along with the stupid Top News thing, I couldn't handle it. I can't stand the Top News, it's pointless, and all it does is show you posts from days ago. And there is no way to default the app to Most Recent, so every single time the app opens I have to change it to Most Recent.
I don't use a lot of the apps that came preinstalled and am just curious of disabling them will "break" anything or have a negative impact on performance or battery for any reason. These are the apps I don't use/would like to disable:
Books
Email
Google+
Latitude
Messenger
Places
Videos
Talk
Just don't need em. All Verizon apps were disabled with no problems.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
Why wouldn't it be? I keep Google Talk disabled because it was a huge source of battery drain for me in the past.
Just not sure about some of them like Google+, not sure how deep integration is. Also videos, not sure if that's tied to the market somehow

I disabled messenger (not the Google+ thing, the built-in sms app) without any ill effects. I read on here somewhere that your gallery will FC if you disable Google+.
I don't just disable them, I use root explorer to delete them for good. Deleted Google+ with no ill effects, and a ton of other stuff I will never use.

You'll just have to test them one by one. From my experience, disabling google+ can cause the gallery to crash.

Books, Talk and Email are surely fine.
Latitude and Places may mess with Maps but they're probably fine.
Google+ (and therefore Messenger), along with Videos may mess with Gallery.
Just take a few hours and disable them 1 by 1 and see if anything happens.
I removed google+ with no adverse affects on the gallery.
Ended up just removing the whole lot. No problems thus far. Places is tied to maps though so unfortunately that will stay. Does anyone else's maps just start running randomly in your recent tasks. GPS and location are both disabled.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
I disabled many: clock, calculator, doc viewer, earth, news & weather, and voice dialer ... as I use alternative apps. Never tried disabling critical ones (e.g., G+). Every thing seems OK.
I faced a problem upon updating system from 4.0.1 to 4.0.2. BUT I'm not sure of the error in updating if it came from disabling stock apps or something else.

Yeah, I've stopped caring about it. I burn more battery trying to track it down then just letting it run (at that, I don't think its actually using any measurable amount of battery). Its obviously doing something worth-while if it keeps poppin up.
You guys mind if I use some of the info in this thread for the GN apk doc I started on?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Everything on the list minus places and latitude have been disabled for a couple days now with no issues whatsoever. Books enables itself with each reboot but I stopped caring and just left it up. Doesn't ever seem to run and I'm thinking it might be tied to the market in some weird way.

G+ and Gallery sync photos so just check settings for that in accounts and in app.

My Nexus 7 2013 or FHD or whatever has been working great since day one. I was just now listing to some music, and put it on pause to speak with a co-worker. I just came back to my desk with the Nexus boot up logo showing. It took a very long time (3-5 minutes) for it to finish booting up.
After unlocking the tablet I'm greeted with "Google Play Services stopped working." Instead of loading NovaLauncher right away it it asks me if I want to launch the default launcher or NovaLauncher. Selecting Nova greets me with the default NovaLauncher layout--all of my icons and folders have been lost to the default. And I no longer have a PIN set or anything.
Poking around further it seems several other things have lost data. Swiftkey wants me to re-download the English layout and complete setup. All of the stock system apps want updates. And I keep getting pop ups saying Google Play Services has crashed.
What's really odd is when I want to bring this up on another forum someone else posted a very similar experience:
The Nexus 7 is great but my experience was short lived.
I don't know if it was a bad tablet or bad encryption but something seriously broke. I wanted to add my company email to my tablet and part of that process involves enabling encryption on my device. Everything was fine and running well, until I plugged it in for the night. At some point my Nexus rebooted and it was at the pre OS screen asking for encryption credentials. I thought that was weird but entered my info. It chugs along fine until it loads my lock screen where I immediately notice it no longer was asking for a PIN and my background changed back to the default. I go to my home screen and noticed my widgets weren't loading and I started getting error messages saying Currents and Play Store stopped responding. I try and access those apps but they go straight to a crash message.
I go ahead and factory reset it and when I tried to reapply the encryption it would go through the motions but it would never encrypt. I thought it was a bad reset and reset it again. Now it just hangs where it says Google and never boots up.
I ended up calling Google Support and I'm getting my Nexus replaced. Has anyone else experienced anything like this before?

I don't have encryption but I do have an exchange account added. There wasn't any remote wipe or anything. I haven't tried a factory reset yet but we'll see if I have the same issues the other person was having.
It's a little concerning to see someone else have almost the exact same thing happen. Makes me worried there's some defective memory out there. Has anyone else heard of this happening?
I've had some really strange experiences the last couple of days with my N7 as well. Bear with me as i try to explain.
I picked up my N7 after work yesterday and noticed the Fandango app had an update waiting. I tapped 'Update', and then went to check something in the Play app settings, and noticed the version was 4.2.9. When the Fandango app finished updating, i opened it up to check out some showtimes. After that i went back to the Play app, into the settings again, and noticed that the app version had been bumped up to 4.3.1. When i tapped the home button, the N7 locked up, and i couldn't do anything at all. I powered it down and attempted to reboot, but no luck. I could get as far as the boot animation, but no further, no matter how long i let it run, or how many times i attempted to reboot. The only thing that worked was to completely wipe everything via fastboot, reinstall 4.3, and start from scratch. I thought my problems were solved, as everything seemed to work fine once i got everything re-installed and configured again.
Until i came home from work today, that is.
Upon arriving home, i unlocked my N7 and was greeted by several dialog boxes indicating that both the stock calendar app and Currents had crashed. Neither app could be opened, as they'd immediately crash, and the stock launcher would also crash, even though i use Nova Launcher. I thought maybe uninstalling/reinstalling updates for Calendar, would help, but the Play Store would crash immediately and could not be launched. I went into settings>apps and tried uninstalling updates and clearing data for all three apps, but only the Play Store app seemed to benefit from this. Nothing seems to help Calendar or Currents. They won't sync or open, and i've also just noticed that the Gallery immediately force closes when i try to launch that, too. My Google Voice app, which i used last night with no problems whatsoever, had lost all its data and had to be reconfigured from scratch. I'm still going through the rest of my apps one at a time to see if there are problems with any of them, but so far all other Google apps are working properly.
I'm perplexed as to what the problem is. Software issue? Hardware issue? In any case, i'm calling Google Support to ask for a replacement, just to be safe. I'm hoping that the N7 i have now is just a lemon, and not indicative of more widespread problems.
I bought two, one works flawlessly (knock on wood) and the other one **** the bed after three days of use. I am returning it for a new one.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
I'm all setup to return this one, and not a moment too soon as it's acting even wonkier now. DashClock force closes, and i'm finding some apps have had their data erased, while others are working normally. Hopefully the replacement works as it's supposed to, because i'll be really annoyed if i have to go through three or four tablets before i get one that works.
I just had almost the exact same issue, opened SoundHound premium and the nexus 7(2103) crashed.
After like 5mins it boots up, with my google account deleted (with it all my paid apps), all the google apps updates and google services crashing.
and above all extremely slow.
I'm now re-registering my account, to see if ir returns to normal.

Did you have an exchange account set up on the Nexus?
After this happened to me I wiped everything (I wanted to unlock the bootloader anyways) and things are going fine. If it happens again I'm going to exchange it.
For example, when clicking a link from an app, I select Chrome and tick the box, but it doesn't get saved. It asks me over and over again. Anyone else experiencing this?
I have this too unfortunately
Same here. Annoying but definitely not a deal breaker. Hope it gets patched anyways. Unless one of our genius xda devs can figure out a fix
I tried reinstalling every app that could handle the intents affected by this and it seems to have worked. E.g. I used Titanium Backup (I'm rooted) to uninstall Chrome then reinstalled it from the Play Store.
Same. Getting a little annoying now, but I'm sure it will be fixed in the Marshmallow update.
