Problems SIM unlocking my S4 - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4

Trying to unlock my phone, currently stock running 4.4.4 Ifound this website that has steps towards unlocking the phone. There is also a few youtube videos. However, when I try it, I get stuck on options 7. After Ii nput 1, it stays in the Servicemode screen. I can not see the screen where I can select {1}UMTS. Any ideas why? Everyone who unlocked it was running 4.4.2, does that have something to do with it?

If this is a T-Mobile phone (SGH-M919) , off-contract, contact T-Mobile. As of yesterday, they have to unlock it. However, if it is not off contract, that is not fully paid for, we aren't supposed to help you.

Will that carry over to 4.4.4 if I go back to 4.4.2 then upgrade back to 4.4.4?

I would flash a ROM that has those features, I think they are called 4 in 1 reboot menu or some other variant other than 4. Most custom ROMs offer this so go ahead and find which one you prefer.

I understand that but i was hopeing for a stock solution as I have seemed to be an expert at not following directions I have brick my current Galaxy II once and my previous Galaxy 3 times.. This all happens when i try to return to stock firmware. So I'm at a point where i'm tired of ruining hardware because I fail to read correctly or something.
I've realized that rooting/ custom ROM's are not for me..

[q] download mode

Hello to all the xda pros had recently bought an s3 so happy that i had finally got it and wasted no time in rooting using causal worked great then i made the biggest mistake ever i didn't flash a recovery or different rom. Could not choose to many new and cool looking roms. Had got called in to work early and left my new phone at home another mistake. My lovely wife found it and seen att send a update notification thinking this is what i wanted since it was all i could talk about she took the 4.3 update!!! I cant really blame her because she knows nothing about rooting or flashing roms she thought she was helping but now am left with a messy slow laggy phone. I tried to reroot using casual again and it looked like it was working but after it reboot it was running even slower in "safe mode" and supersu says that i have to reroot manually after 4.3. Have tried to root via odin but phone wont go in to download mode no matter how many time i try it always ends up booting in to "safe mode" the only thing i am doing in adding to the custom binary download counter am up to 3 and the warrant counter is at 1. Any advice from the pros would love nothing more to return to custom rom tw 4.3 is acting alot like ios 7.

Then do you have a USB JIG, I hear that will force you're phone into download mode. Do some research on it.

To disable Safe Mode
1. Press and hold the Power button
2. Select Restart
3. Select OK
Then if you in normal mode try get to download mode. Volume down + Home Button and Power button. Hold all anthill you see Warning screen then press Volume Up.
If Safe Mode continues to display on the Home Screen after restarting the device and a Factory Reset does not resolve the problem, it may be due to a faulty Home button which would be considered damaged hardware.

If other method not gone work you can try to get off safe mode by :
Go to Settings
1.Select Apps->All (Look for ALL on top menu or swipe to the right to get to ALL)
2.Select Google Services Framework and tap Clear Data.
3.Turn off (shut down) your phone and turn it back on.
See if the phone will be out of Safe Mode.
I don't think you can get to download mode longest you are in safe mode.

Maybe try this:

It was probably mine. I had the same issue and I got my code from cellunlocker.net.
I was on SlimRom and it was not working. I finally went back to the official rom for one final try and it worked.
This is what I did. I'm not sure if just trying the unlock code would've worked but I did follow these steps (it's a bit weird since you don't actually change anything, maybe it forces the phone to refresh something.)
Just make sure you are on official ROM or it won't work (I tried only the code with the SlimROM and it did not work).
After unlocking I went back to SlimRom and then CM and it was always unlocked.
1. Make sure that the phone PROMPTS for the code with a NON accepted sim card and that your IMEI is correct by dialing *#06#
a. Go to the Dial pad and dial *#197328640#
b. Please click on number [1] UMTS > [1] Debugging screen > [8] Phone Control > [6] NETWORK LOCK
c. You will see 3 options
d. Please click on number [1] Perso Sha256 INFO, the screen will change slightly
e. Please hit the MENU button then when the menu pops up please carefully hit BACK to return to the previous screen
f. Next Please click on number [2] Perso Sha256 ON, the screen will change again to a one line message
g. Restart the phone on the screen by holding the power button and click RESTART
h. When the phone prompts for the unlock code simply enter the unlock code provided to you
i. Your phone is now permanently unlocked!

I had tried two times to unlock my phone with a code I had bought online, but it wouldn't work. After doing this it worked perfectly! I also turned off GPS and Wi-Fi (for some reason they were on). I don't know if turning them off helped any, but it never hurts to try to turn them off if they are on before putting in the code. Hope this works for you!

[Q] Is there a root counter

As the title goes I'm wondering if there is a counter which is triggered when root and can not be reversed when unroot.
Its the only thing that stops me (and I suppose I'm not the only one) from rooting in order to debloat & freeze some stuff.

Can root and unroot without issue on this device, no counter that I am aware of. I have gone back to Stock a couple of times now.
Thank you for your answer.
The thing is that I worry for any future update (international D855 is my variant). What / if we realize then that actually there is a counter.
I know it sounds as metaphysics but its just pure ignorance on my behalf.
Go to dialer and digit 3845#*855#, tap to "LG RCT", tap "display Result...this is root counter.

If so, this counter goes back to default value when unroot or showing something that means the phone had been rooted?

On the G2 was always, even after a hard reset or reflashing the firmware. I do not know the G3...i did not root.
Thanks for the code (it seems very helpful): my display result is "Not rooted".
Now that we have an anchor we need the same info from a G3 user who unroot or went back to stock...
Hey,
I entered the 845#*855# code and now im in the hidden menu but I'm stuck there?
The phone is very slow and doesn't respond to anything I do. I even unplugged the batteries for a few minutes but it always boots up in the AAT mini OS 3.1 hidden menu.
When I press Normal Boot (+power) or any other options nothing happend but only red crosshairs appear?
How can I reset my phone now???
I tapped the code but nothing like that happened. After I check for root I just went back & and back again on my dial.
Is your phone a 855 (as in the hidden menu) or a 400 variant?
Other than that I can't think of.
digit 855 for european model, 400 for the Corea

Probably if you run root with Geohot app the counter does not write rooted or reset after hard reset...i do not know...on the Galaxy S5 with Geohot app the Knox contour does not advance.
Thanks for the reply. It would be good to have an answer from an owner who rooted already - better still if returned to stock for some reason.
I'll wait for a while before I try it myself reading about the two alternatives for rooting I came across in this forum.

only way around seams a complete restore try doing this
I don't have the links to the tread where I got these from but lets just hope I don't get banned.
1) go to download mode
2) install this and download the correct .kdz file for your phone
-Modelnumber is ...
-serial number is your imei number
- wait until the download is done
3) run the lgflashtool2014.exe from this zip
-Select type= cdma
-phone mode= Diag
-reset time=33000
-Should be like this when You run it
-select kdz file= is where you need to find the kdz file you just downloaded(step 1)
-then press cse flash
-in the now pop-up window select start
-select your language
-ignore error (cannot connect to lg server)
-check progress on phone up to 100% then boots in recovery installs and restarts
-wait untill it goes to the welcom screen then you can unplug
-now the most inportant step Like my post
to enter download mode do this:
--You must switch off the device to start the process.
--Then press and hold the “Volume Up” and connect the USB cable from phone to PC.
--Use the original USB cable. Because, other device’s cable may not be detected in the Computer. So, only we recommend it to use the original-- one that you got it when you bought the phone.
--Wait for the driver installation on PC.
--Then you will get the download mode screen in your phone.
--That’s it.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy tab S "Not for sale" version with "retail mode" app, problem!
this may seem strange, but I have a Samsung galaxy tab S, demo version, with a "NOT FOR SALE" text hacked on the back, it has a "retail mode" app on it (even after factory reset) so I can't remove it, is it possible to install a (stock) ROM on this tablet?
I would imagine installing a stock firmware with odin should do the trick
same here, i flashed with stock firmware and it works no more ldu
Thanks for your response,

yes but u need a custom recovery : http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...recovery-twrp-2-7-1-0-touch-recovery-t2817100 then u can flash custom rom
everything ok for now, sorry!
I rooted the device (with Odin), then installed the latest TWRP successfully, then went to boot menu and noticed TWRP's touch interface in scrambled (where i tap the screen isn't where it get clicked on screen, it was kindda on random places) and it filled half the screen, so for a long time I tried to tap randomly on screen and finally I could wipe the first 4 check-boxes, then i guess the battery charge went out, so after successfully wiping the device it got shut down.
now I can't go to TWRP boot menu, but I can go to other boot menu (home button + vol up + power ) , and i can't turn the damn thing off! so what should i do?

Should but make sure your battery is at at least 80% before starting......battery dying while flashing is not good and can lead to bricked device.
