i have the galaxy s4 from t-mobile and i hate this phone with a ****ing passion. this **** looses connection almost all the time. i've switched ROMs, kernels, went back to stock, unrooted, re-rooted and did almost everything and it still doesnt have a strong connection. i have checked with t-mobile and the phone is not reported as stolen and that was kind of obvious because it gets connection for 3-20 minutes then it looses and and drives me crazy. i've spent countless hours trying to resolve this thing and i just cannot. its not the sim because it happens randomly and i had an s3 last week that never did this. i also tried a different sim and the same thing happened. i have wi-fi and everything else i just don't have a contant connection to the cellular towers. i even changed the APN settings and **** still didn't work.i am so upset that i am willing to go buy a samsung galaxy s4 from t mobile and return it and instead give them this crappy one because i am so fed up. someone please help me. i would rather have no phone than have a brand new phone that doesn't receive service. this has to be the most frustrating thing ever. i have done countless searches and i am hopeless now. and the switching kernels part, im not reallly exactly sure what that does but i have a feeling that it has something to do with the baseband or whatever and i've switched it a few times and it has worked for a few minutes. the phone will be stuck on searching forever and i've even tried registering manually and nothing still happens. the phone gods must be upset at me. someone help me please.

Try this....dial *#2263#....select LTE GSM. Which is at the bottom. This will force LTE... try it and see if that helps you.

Time for a new model?
I'm getting tired of my S4's problems as well. Since going on vacation in June, I've had constant issues with my data. I see one bar to no bars constantly. I'm frequently on Edge as well (literally and figuratively LOL). I don't usually pay attention to the signal meter 'cause I know it is real world use that matters. But the performance is noticeably bad. Takes forever to load a page and is very slow overall and getting can't connect notices regularly.
TMO actually let me replace it once but I am still having problems.
Everything worked perfectly before my vacation. Had great LTE coverage. And never once saw EDGE.
I'm convinced the problem is on TMO's end, but nothing we've tried will restore my performance.
I hate non removable batteries and no sd card slots, so not a lot of alternatives on TMO. But I may get the nexus or One.

Have you used mobile Odin with any of your flashing on this phone?
I'm just sayin!
Could it be the APN sometimes I see the S4 without the fast.t-mobile.com APN. Also you could try a new SIM. I am just guessing idk for sure and do not take any responsibility.

If he has flashed thru mobile Odin on his phone, I'm willing to bet that's the culprit. The same happened to me on 2 s4's that I restored stock thru MO. At first glance the issue was not as noticeable until I became aware of how unstable the connection was in places it shouldn't have been.
I'm just sayin!

Id say the opposite. Unforce lte and force gsm. The 3g network is much stronger than the 4g network. If it stays on 3g it should have a more consistent signal.

This is a quick couple of questions for anyone out there that may have a solution. I'm experiencing LTE issues. These issues happened after my note was returned from repair and installed 4.3 OTA. Now, this was a while ago and I recently rooted my device in hopes of fixing the LTE issues, but to no avail. 3G works great but 4G will work sometimes as in: I will have signal but it is very poor in some instances. I've checked in with support and they are of no use. Did all the pertinent resets and reactivations. So I figure the LTE card thats embedded might be the problem. I've checked the APNs and activated the device via WiFi ONLY to see if that would help. And also after my phone was returned I noticed in About Device... in Hardware Version details it has---- Not Acti---- instead of the usual L900.06 or whatever. What may that be? Cause it seems strange in my opinion. Either way 4G LTE works now after rooting and rom'ing than before on stock 4.3 and 4.4.2 where switching to 4G would basically do nothing even though data was being " sent:recieved " . Now 4G works but still loses connectivity randomly when my wife has her S3 and 4G is flawless in the same damn location. LOL. So I know it can't be the towers. Any help is appreciated.
Phone: Verizon m8
Problem: CDMA/EVDO does not seem to work at all
So I flashed s.rom yesterday and had all sorts of problems reguarding data so I tried flashing another Rom but it was late at night and I fell asleep while it was booting/optimizing apps. I woke up in the morning to find the phone, plugged in, and running the boot animation. I'm now running nusense 6 which has proven to be stable in the past but I can't get CDMA signal. Even going into phone info menu, it won't let me select CDMA or EVDO. Lte works as expected. Can anyone help or give any insight? The phone wasn't that hot when I unplugged it but I know it was far from good for it.
I have to have 3g and 1x because I live in a bad service area and thats all I get sometimes.
Hello, I have been having some problems with 4G on this phone using the T-mobile network.
From the start I would not get 4G most of the time, I would get 3G,H, or H+ most of the time and it would be very slow.
Then I messed around with the settings and 4G started working flawlessly, but some days ago the problem came back.
There does not seem to be a specific place where this happens, it will happen anywhere.
I used to use this exact same SIM card with another phone(it was a tmobile phone) and never had this problem.
What can be done to fix this?
My friend and i bought the Mi6 at the same time last year and we both rooted shortly afterwards . For a long while we both did not get volte but now my friend is getting volte on epic rom but i am on a different rom and dont get it at all. I tried going on the epic rom same as him but it still did not work. He lives 200miles north of me so i am thinking maybe it is something to do with his area but i am not sure because previously on another phone i used to get volte no problem. My question is i would like to find out iff anyone else is on the 3UK network and is getting volte anywhere else in the UK thanks.
