[Q] Note II LTE issues and "Not Acti" ?? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

This is a quick couple of questions for anyone out there that may have a solution. I'm experiencing LTE issues. These issues happened after my note was returned from repair and installed 4.3 OTA. Now, this was a while ago and I recently rooted my device in hopes of fixing the LTE issues, but to no avail. 3G works great but 4G will work sometimes as in: I will have signal but it is very poor in some instances. I've checked in with support and they are of no use. Did all the pertinent resets and reactivations. So I figure the LTE card thats embedded might be the problem. I've checked the APNs and activated the device via WiFi ONLY to see if that would help. And also after my phone was returned I noticed in About Device... in Hardware Version details it has---- Not Acti---- instead of the usual L900.06 or whatever. What may that be? Cause it seems strange in my opinion. Either way 4G LTE works now after rooting and rom'ing than before on stock 4.3 and 4.4.2 where switching to 4G would basically do nothing even though data was being " sent:recieved " . Now 4G works but still loses connectivity randomly when my wife has her S3 and 4G is flawless in the same damn location. LOL. So I know it can't be the towers. Any help is appreciated.

[Q] Thinking about exchanging my CDMA GN due to LTE signal drop

I've been using the Galaxy Nexus for about a month or so and have recently started to notice that the 4G signal will drop whenever I turn on the screen after some time in deep sleep. The signal meter will be fine, until I actually try to use some data. It typically takes about a minute to reacquire a signal, but the phone is essentially useless during that time.
As you can see in the screenshot, there are several red spots where the signal dropped out. I am not in a poor coverage area, and others with the same device do not have these issues. I saw this with a rooted 4.0.2 OTA and am still seeing it with a rooted, deodexed 4.0.4 rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1481613).
What do people think? Will exchanging the phone possible fix the issue? Is there anything Verizon can do to try and help me out? I'm basically just spitballing here, but this problem is making my phone very frustrating to use.
Are you rooted or stock? I don't have any issues with my 4G on stock or rooted with Gummy 0.7.6. I had an issue with an earlier root where my 4G would drop. I would disable / re-enable and it would start to work again. Maybe try rooting if you are not rooted????

Yes, I see this on rooted stock, as well as the ROM I referenced in the original post (supposedly deodexed 4.0.4 stock ROM)
EDIT: From several posts in the other thread, this issue is not isolated to me or my hardware so I probably won't bother exchanging the phone.

Can you please tell me where you get that HISTORY screen from. Ive checked all menus in settings and I can not find it anywhere.
EDIT... Please ignore my post... I found it...
So, I'm having the same exact problems but i did a log cat to see what might be culprit.
I have narrowed it down to this:
02-08 11:21:51.912 E/IMSFW (415): IIL: Disconnected from '7467' socket
still have no idea what can cause it yet.
also if you switch to 3g it seems it doesn't happen so maybe its a sim problem on verizons lte network end?
11:22:40.029 E/IMSFW (415): ImsSMSInterface: Registration failed, go for retrying if isim nounce present
that's what i found so if anyone can clarify and maybe see if it is really on Verizons end as this is the 4th phone that has had this problem.

Hey fellas, I'm posting in this thread because it relates to the issue I'm facing. Coming from the Thunderbolt, I had no problems holding onto a LTE signal in Atlanta, but with my GNex, the signal just drops a lot (every half hour or so maybe), at work, at the store, wherever. It shows an empty signal bar with a small x, and says 'Searching for Service'.
This seems to happen only when I have it in LTE mode. I switched to CDMA under the 'Mobile Networks' settings window, and it was able to hold on to the 3G signal all day. I am starting to think if it is a LTE sim card authentication issue.
I'm going to VZW to see what I can do (I'm still within the 14-day window).
I'm having the Same issue holding onto a 4g signal in Savannah and Atlanta, cdma only is fine. Let me know what Verizon tells u cause they basically told me to wait for an update

Just came back, basically they said they can't do anything unless they replicate the problem, which they couldn't. (it was a random problem.). They told me to call customer service when I got that issue, so I have to see that at work tomorrow.
I tried a suggestion online where I updated my prl from the 15xxx version to the 52642 version. I did this by creating a contact with the following number
*22899
and dialing that contact. It went through a 'activation' process, with some elevator music, and the signal seems to hold.

Yea I did the prl update and it was fine for awhile but started back again a few hours later

I've updated to 4.0.4, 4.0.3, flashed just the radios, removed some card, hard reset, factory reset, just about everything u can imagine and still no luck. I'm tempted to file a claim with asurion(purchased gnex from a friend) and see if another gnex works with late but I don't wanna spend $99 for nothing

To this and post 10, I still have those data issues, but they are much less frequent on the 4.0.2 radio than the 4.0.4.
I got in touch with Verizon wireless online support, and they basically told me to wait till they release a software update. I asked for a new sim card (since I thought it might be LTE authentication issues), and they said it was a software problem, not a SIM problem.
I guess its a wait and see.

[Q] LTE connectivity issues on LTE Galaxy Nexus. Flashing ICS 4.0.4 did not solve.

I bought a new GNex last week and immediately ran into bad connectivity issues when preferred network mode is set to LTE/CDMA. Basically no signal all (3G or 4G), even though I live in downtown Boston where there should be 4G. When I switch my preferred network mode from LTE/CDMA to CDMA, the 3G network works fine with no connectivity issues.
On the phone, Verizon told me that a software patch in May will fix the issue. A staffer at the Verizon store told me that I could already find the patch online and that it would solve the problem... I assumed he was talking about 4.0.4. I flashed 4.0.4 yesterday fully expecting it to solve my LTE connectivity problems but ..... no luck. I still get no signal using the LTE/CDMA setting. I can't even make or receive calls unless I switch back to CDMA.
Do I have a hardware issue? Are other people having the same problem? Should I trust Verizon and hope that the 4.0.5 OTA update fixes the problem? Is there anything I can do about it now?
I am in the same boat as you. Just got a replacement from Verizon but it had a horrible purple tint to the screen so its going back. Didn't even get to see if its better at 4g. I think its a hardware problem as I've read that some people were able to get a replacement phone that actually works.

My problem is similar. I can get 4G and use it sometimes but after a short time of data usage all my data is cut off until I reboot the phone. No calls, no nothing. I logged a ticket last night and will be calling back today for an exchange.
edit:
I stopped into the VZW store after calling customer care and getting everything all setup. They swapped out my gnex for a new one and so far my experience has been positive. I'm seeing improved signal everywhere and last night the phone didn't drop connectivity once or even get warm. The old phone would get hot to the touch in the upper left of the screen, the new one stayed cool throughout 30 app downloads with 2 bars 4g. Here's to hoping my problem is solved.
I'm getting a similar issue with connectivity dropping ice had this phone for three weeks and the signal drops terribly. At my house because I live on a mountain by a Penn state campus I know there isn't much in the way of signal because of the distance from the towers without interference. But even with being in other areas with 4g I still run into the signal dropping...I thought it was just me so it's good too know I'm not the only one having issues

Signal drops from time to time

I thought this was a fluke, but now I'm using the Sprint Galaxy S3 I discovered it's real. I flash phones to the network I work for in Nigeria - Visafone, and of all the phones I've encountered so far (I've used a Droid Incredible, a Verizon Galaxy Nexus and flashed numerous other phones for other people) this problem only occurs with the Sprint Galaxy S3. I've tried all the available modems and this even made me to be on the lookout for the latest leaks so I can flash for the few clients I've done the Sprint S3 for. Now I'm using it myself I found that this is a real pain; network goes off intermittently and you need to reboot for it to come back again. Please has anyone else who is using the Sprint S3 on another network experienced this, and if so is there any fix?
I haven't had this problem in a long while, then I had it only while running through my airave. Here I think sprints network was to blame. I am currently running mc3 radio with no problems what so ever. Now every once and awhile while on airave only, my 3g will quit and come back up.

I think this problem largely occurs only Sprint S3s. Strangely though I've never experienced it with other devices from other networks flashed to Visafone. Even some Sprint Epic 4G Touch phones I've flashed to Visafone are rock stable; no complaints about the signal drops. Just the Sprint S3s.

Are you sure Sprint isnt updating towers in your area? It may also be the Connection Optimizer kicking in and constantly changing your connection.

I am not using Sprint network. These are Sprint devices but flashed to Visafone Nigeria where I work. I've flashed about 200 phones altogether and it's only with the Sprint S3s that this occurs. Some other Sprint devices I've flashed work flawlessly, I even did an LG LS970 just yesterday and it's fine, no signal drops. I also noticed that the Mobile Network type changes from EVDO REV A to 1XRTT and back again from time to time, perhaps an antenna issue(?). I've tried ALL the existing Sprint S3 radios but problem still persists. Even though I have the feeling that the connection optimiser is for wifi and 4g, I also disabled it. Still the problem persists.

I believe they finished updating towers in my area, not the optimizer, 1st app I erase when flashing a rom.

I think you might be right about the antenna issue, because when I switch off my wifi, and run on 3g even through airave, connection still to this day switches from 3g to 1x, and then back again. Now, I always erase optimizer from my phone when flashing a new rom.
Problem seems to have been solved... I used Mobile Odin pro to flash the MB4 modem and since yesterday have not had any signal issues. It seems Mobile Odin does a better job of flashing the modem than the desktop version. Still observing, but it's a relief to see steady signal on this phone now.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy Nexus Sprint L700

So, I thought I would ask here. I can't find a lot of information on the problem. There are sites that have contradicting information in google results, but mostly, nothing consistent. Hoping at least here I can get a why or a how to fix it.
So, as the title suggests, I have a Sprint Samsung Galaxy Nexus L700 running Slimkat with Android 4.4.2 build 4 official. I think there's an update to that rom, but at this point I don't think the rom has anything to do with the issue. All roms have the issue.
So the issue in question. Sprint rolled out LTE 4G in my area but my nexus never gets it. I know we have 4g because my Galaxy Tab 3 picks it up all the time. When I look at the tab, the network is listed as LTE:14. However, no matter what I try, the nexus will only ever pick up CDMA - EvDo rev A. This is a 4G phone and I'm using the GJ04 LTE/CDMA radios, but I never get 4g. I get 3G just fine. For whatever reason, it's like the LTE radio on this nexus never bothers to activate.
What i've tried to fix this:
1. Different radios. I've tried them all, from FC02 to GJ04.
2. Different roms. Same issue on all roms. Doesn't appear to be a custom rom issue.
3. Doing the data settings to LTE only. This doesn't stick, it just goes back to CDMA. I'm told this is by design due to 4g being data only mode.
I don't know what else I can try. Sprint's only answer is to blame it on the custom rom. Which I can't necessarily blame them for, it did void my warranty, but even with the stock rom I still get no LTE.
Any ideas?
Well for sure one thing is to flash the stock rom and see if you get the lte connections.
second, try someone else sim and see if that fixes the issue.
Sprint Galaxy Nexus getting no 4g inside coverage area
I am having the same issue as the first post and have tried all of the same troubleshooting tactics with no prevail. I am currently running LiquidSmooth v3.1 4.4.4 KK baseband GJ04. I have contacted sprint and they are of absolutely zero help. Not only am I having 4g connection issues but I can barely receive 3g. I am located literally in what sprint considers one of their best 4g coverage areas in my area yet haven't been able to connect once. Please any help or insight as to a solution would be greatly appreciated.

N920I - Weak 4G. Can no longer make or recieve calls. Possibly a local 3G tower was turned off.

My Galaxy Note 5 SM-N920I purchased December of 2015 can no longer make or receieve calls. My provider is TracFone via the Bring Your Own Phone program. I use their SIM card and it has worked all this time. Until recently the phones features have stopped working. I think they have been disabling the 3G in my area, as everyone is converting to 4G now.
Note 5 is supposed to support 4G but it's definitely been having issues. Text and internet still works. however texts are sometimes delayed on occasion, not always, usually it's fine. Data speed just now was tested at 10 mbps down, 3 mbps up. Signal bars are consistently low, regardless of physical location; inside, outside, other side of town, SIM status shows signal always between -108dBm and -118dBm. This is likely why I cannot make or receive calls, but the question is, why is this happening?
Like I said, I suspect they are shutting down 3G in this area, so the best theory I've been able to come up with is this: perhaps 4G has always sucked on this phone but I never noticed because it would fall back to the good 3G connection. Now that 3G is gone in this area, all I have to use is 4G which is a shoddy connection.
Further research has found in the early days of this phone there were numerous reports of weak/no signal. See these threads:
Fed Up With Terrible Reception
Hey all, I'm kind of venting here and at the same time hoping for some sort of direction because I'm absolutely fed up with my S6. I upgraded roughly a month and a half ago from an S4. My phone usage was below normal for the first week or two as I was busy with a variety of projects. As my...

No signal/network on my note 5
Hi everyone, so I just got this note 5 N920P last two weeks but I noticed its OS was lollipop...waited for updates for 7.0 but nothing so I went ahead and downloaded Odin with latest firmware from samobile and did it my self, now here the problems start to show first of all this hands free...
forums.androidcentral.com
One theory was that the 4G antenna they used in the Note 5 / S6 was of poor design. Causing weak signal.
Things I have tried and did not work:
-Contacted TracFone. They confirmed the device is supported and provisioned correctly. They recommended a new SIM card.
-Replaced the SIM card with a brand new one
-Factory reset the device. It's running the stock Android 7.0 Nougat which was the last up to date version available.
-Tinkered with various service menus including *#2263# and *#0011#. Messing about with the LTE band settings didn't change the signal strength ever. Regardless of the LTE band, it stays in that -108 to -118 range, too weak for calling.
What can be done to fix this? Possible ideas:
-Internal antenna replacement, but this seems either expensive to have someone do, or extremely difficult to do oneself. Would it even make a difference? Has anyone tried this?
-Software. Could the issue have been introduced during one of the software updates? Planned obsolescence perhaps? Could we revert to an earlier firmware to potentially resolve this? has anyone tried this?
-Firmware. Could we upgrade the firmware to a later, unsupported version safely? Perhaps the issue was fixd in later Android versions but has not been adressed in older devices that are no longer updated.
I'm the kind of person who likes to use my things until they absolutely die. This Note 5 has been perfectly fine until recently. There is nothing wrong with it. It's still modern, fast, and has a great camera. I would HATE to have to replace a phone for such a stupid reason. Not only is money tight, but it's such a waste when this thing is still perfect apart from this weak 4G signal.
Has anyone else had this issue? Have you resolved it? Any help appreciated. Thank you.
Try a network reset.
Clear sim toolkit data.
Clear system cache.
The access point profile may need updating or maybe the sim?
