Hey guys I recently bought my moto 360 and love it! The only problem I'm currently experiencing is that the watch face no longer wakes when I turn my wrist to look at the watch. This is extremely annoying because I want to be able to have more functionality with just one hand. Other than that the watch works perfectly. I've even been getting 16 hrs+ battery life on average. I tried looking through the settings to see if there was an option to change the wake settings but there are none. I don't see any other forums or anyone else posting about this issue so if you've had this issue please let me know what you did to fix this. ThankS!!
That started happening to me after the most recent update. Battery life improved by a few hours but then the wrist turn stopped being reliable

Since battery life is a bit more reliable, have you tried going with Ambient Mode again? While it admittedly doesn't last as long on as off, it does result in much more 'reactive' wrist turns to tell the time more quickly and repeatedly.
mine's a bit odd. Wakes fine normally, but when I mute notifications, it doesn't wake the screen unless I really move my wrist in an obvious way.
I actually got it to work now. The problem was going on when I had the keislertech stainless steel band on it. I switch the band with the leather one and the watch started waking every time I turned my wrist. I'm guessing the steel band was interfering with the accelerometers considering they use electromagnets.
Im still having this problem. And im only using the leather band. Any fix? Yesterday was working fine when i was driving to work then i noticed at work when i twisted my wrist nothing happened.
Try more of a 'flick' with your wrist than a 'turn' with your wrist.
I too am having this issue. I just did a complete factory reset on the device, still no luck. I was worried my gryoscope may be busted, but it seems to be working at least by using a testing app I found, though I am not sure how reliable that is.
No matter how hard I flick my wrist, the screen won't come on. What's more, putting it in Ambient mode will show the black and white screen for 1 second, then the screen turns off, as if the device was face down.
Quite honestly, I think it may be a busted Gryoscope, which would suck, so I'm going to test a few more things and see.

Factory Reset with no apps installed didn't help. Called Motorola, they are shipping me a new device.
Can't think of it being anything other than a busted Gyro that always points down.
Question for the OP, at any time did you use the latest Nexus QI charger to charge your device? Doubt that has anything to do with it, but want to know just in case.
Well, the Gyro in my watch is working again, but I'm still going to follow through with the replacement, since I don't want to risk it happening again. Nothing was done to fix it, it just randomly started working Saturday night. The sensor test I mentioned earlier is showing full functionality now.
Candidly, you're probably smart to do so. Tech being what it is, often times you get a device with bugged hardware. Let us know how the replacement works out for you.

Same problem here... Seems to have a link with aftermarket QI charger. The first time I've put it on the charger pad the screen flipped upside down. Since then, no waking up from wrist movement and even on the original charger it's showing upside down.
I don't know what to do !!!
This is my second watch i had a crack on the first one taking it out of the box I don't want to wait another week to get a replacement !

Came back to normal without any reasons... oh well....
my moto 360 also doesn't wake anymore, but also not when i tap it
if i tap and hold, i feel the vibration that shows up to change the watch face and when i click the side button you see this menu before it goes back to the clock
Wow, this just started happening to me too! I was hoping to find the solution in this thread, so I hope this isn't a sign of universal hardware failure!
Started happening to me too just yesterday.
Bummer
Been a few days for me. . . not responsive on wrist turn or tap.

Got mine working again. If you haven't already tried, open android wear app on your phone, then toggle the setting "tilt to wake screen" a few times (make sure it ends up ON however). Also, on your watch, make sure theatre mode is off.
I was having the same problem. It was theater mode. Somehow it was turned on,I turned it off and now the wake function works again.
Mine stopped working too a few days ago. I toggled 'tilt to wake screen' in the wear app and it started working again.

Thanks! Toggling the "tilt to wake" setting worked for me too!
I'm currently searching for an Android Wear watch and torn between the Moto 360 and Asus Zenwatch. I like the look of both of them. I feel the Moto360 will be more masculine, but the Zenwatch is more recent and has better specs screen/battery wise.
I've found conflicting/confusing information with all the updates Moto360 has received. So, is there a way for ambient mode on the 360 to stay on and if so, what is the battery life? Or is it that the ambient mode only stays on with stock watchfaces, but not custom?
I just don't know about having a giant black disk on my wrist when the watch is off, plus how 'future proof' is the Moto360 with its TI processor?
I know this is the Moto360 forum, but any feedback is appreciated.
Just a quick update to my question to make sure I understand.
The Moto360 will turn off when sideways, be in ambient mode when tilted, and full mode when tilted towards your face, correct?
That is correct and those were the two I was deciding went to best buy and liked the moto but that's the point which ever puts the biggest smile is the one you get. Yes the moto has some older specs but it works great battery is good and I use ambient mode quite a bit I like it better than tilt to wake

You seem to be confusing tilt to wake with ambient mode .....
2 different things

Thanks, unfortunately, none of the Best Buy's near me have the Asus in stock. My wife ordered one, so I may just wait for hers to arrive and compare it to the Moto 360 Best Buy had.

I understand that, but without tilt to wake, where does ambient mode come in to effect? Does your full watchface dim, then it goes to ambient mode for xx seconds, then goes dark? I had the Pebble, upgraded to the Gear 2, not realizing apps have to be coded to your phone to show up in the Gear store. But the Gear 2 had tilt to wake, and the lag or fact that sometimes it didn't turn on and I'd have to hit the button annoyed me.
In ambient mode when you raise your arm it will be dimmed instead of when tilt to wake is on it will come on full screen. Instead of timing out while looking at it it will go to ambient mode as well but then nearly half a second it turns off lol sorry I'm staring at my watch and phone but I'm pretty sure that's how it works.

The menu option says that he screen will illuminate when lifting the phone or when a notification comes in. That would be fine except mine is acting more like the moto x and pulsing every few seconds which will kill an lcd battery.

Mine did the same but I found that the culprit was the light flow app I installed to control the LED.

I've noticed it pulse as well but it doesn't go on very long, and doesn't do it all the time. I've not installed light flow at all, so I doubt that is the cause, and you may find it starts doing it again.
It's unlikely to drain that much power if it only does it a few times, and ambient display is off if the phone is covered like in a case or coat pocket.
I couldn't at first get it to turn on reliably when being picked up, but the trick seems to be to lift it up and at the same time turn it from horizontal to being more vertical. The other thing is when you keep trying, the phone seems to turn off ambient display as it thinks it is in transit rather than on a desk or a surface, which makes senses, but doesn't help when trying the feature out.
Google said you can nudge the phone to turn on ambient display, but I'm not sure what sort of nudge to give it, so can't really get this working.

Phil
So I recently just got this phone repaired from LG.
Lately the knockon feature bearly works when screen is off
And
When you power off the screen, the screen randomly turns on.
Would you guys keep the phone with these little problems?
Sent from my LG-H811 using Tapatalk
That barely qualifies as multiple problems or even problems, just turn it off or on with the power button, just like almost all other phones, the Knock-on feature is on very few phones.
I on the other hand have issues with the camera not turning on and now the flashlight too, don't know if you will get those or not, but you might, so maybe don't keep it, i certainly won't be buying from LG again.
quick question coming from using Moto phones over the past few years...ive had the Moto Z force for the past year....
Moto phones have a great feature in terms of the ambient display where if the phone is just sitting on your desk, and you "wave" at it (basically just pass your hand over the screen) it lights up the ambient display to show you the clock, or any notifications. I never realized how often i did this until switching phones...is there anything similar available on the P2 XL??...i know there is a double tap, but that doesn't seem to work every time i do it, and picking up the phone seems to take too long to actually activate the ambient display...
nothing as far as the gesture, at least not stock.
just use the always on display, and it will always be on, no need to wave.
