New AT&T update with VoLTE - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anyone know if swapping the setting in the default.xml will enable this fully? I have messed around with some settings on my phone (music channel, 4G icon etc and those worked). I use ARHD and if I can enable this myself, I wont have to search for this "update" thats being pushed out to our phones as I type this

Something like that would be nice. Really don't feel like downgrading to KitKat just to get VOLTE when lollisense is running really nice.

[Q] T-Mo JB update broke tether even off T-Mo??!!

So I have a T-Mo G S3 I purchased unlocked and have been using on Moblicity in Canada with no troubles. I manually checked for updates and got the JB OTA last week. Not sure when, but probably with that update wifi tether has stopped working. If I touch the option it just jumps back to "off", no error or explanation. This is on Moblicity. Moblicity says they have done nothing to disable it, but they won't give me any support to get it working either. I'd understand T-Mo removing this option on their network if they no longer have plans that support it, but disabling it entirely???!!! WTF??!
So, now I wonder. Any chance simply rooting and finding an simple hack will work? Or am I looking at alternative ROMs? The stock hotspot was always flakey, so perhaps an alternative hack/utility will be better anyway.
And if I'm looking to go to a custom ROM, which ones will give me all or most of the factory functionality? This is my daily driver and I need it work 100%. Are any other CM10/JB ROMs fully working? Or will I have to go back to a CM9/ICS ROM to get a stable and fully functional experience. Or perhaps I'd be better off with a Samsung based ROM?? I've done some reading, but I'm completely new to the ROMs for this phone and there are many, so any advice is appreciated.
Tethering would have to fail just as I got a new tablet.
I did get some network settings, perhaps APN settings I can't recall, pushed to my phone by Mobilicity just after I got the JB update. I just blindly accepted them.
Perhaps it's just an APN, thing...

[Q]Please Serious tech help! cellular data radio unresponsive

Look i normally dont ask for to much help ive been around a bit know more then the average bear. I also fix hardware.
My problem is my data radio will not switch on from any attempt:
Attempted solutions:
Dialed
*#*#4636#*#*
Will not switch on from that screen
Did the obvious and switched on and off airplane mode
Replaced the entire build.prop file with a very stock build.prop after flashing stock jelly bean
Repeated steps for all stock firmware
Newest attempt wiped the entire system partition through recovery forcefully bricking the phone. I have now flashed the original stock e980 stock 10p tot file still no luck
My phone is completely unlocked fully rooted.
I've replaced the data permission files.
And I know its not the SIM card because the SIM card is in the phone I'm using right now which is an LG g2 unlocked which is for sale by the way.
And if it is a hardware problem I have not found any related video or thread to help me find an exchange where the radio is on this thing
Help me please if anybody has any idea?
Cool no help, hey moderator can u move this to thread that may get more help that would be awesome
i came looking around here because my g pros radio stopped working sometime last night while i was asleep and was about to make a thread asking for help, but seeing as how you haven't got much i doubt i would either. but ill give you a little info on mine, will it help you out at all? not sure. but i know it might make me feel a little better.
I flashed Vanir 4.4.4 last week coming from Beanstalk 4.4.4 cause beanstalk was getting buggy from all the ugly mods i subjected it to. so all was well with Vanir till i woke up this morning and had no service, no calls, no network, AND even if i connected to a wifi network it seemed that i couldn't get any data from it. I tried flashing madmacks modem cause who knows, maybe thatll help, but it diddnt. So then i flashed a different kernel and changed TCP protocols cause who ****ing knows, but it did nothing. THEN i restored my older Beanstalk 4.4.4 backup sure that it would work flawlessly but guess what, same problem. Now that im back on Beanstalk i went to the "Network Operators" option under "Mobile network settings" and selected ATT, which is my service provider, i can now make calls and texts but still no data, when i did this on Vanir it did not help. So i started messing with my "preferred network type" and realized i have data on 2G, but not 3G or LTE. Im gonna take a wild guess and say that maybe if you flash your phone back to 100% stock your radio should start working again, as much as i dont want to, i might end up doing that as well.
tl:dr
similar problem, i dont really know ****, easiest option = go back to stock, hope it works.
@Fant0m3 @alb-o
Have you guys checked if your rom shows your imei?
I have had this problem twice. My IMEI disappeared and I don't know how.
Your symptoms match.
If that's the case you could take it to a repair shop and they'll fix it in a minute or two. Or, you can check around xda.
thats a good point, when i was looking around XDA earlier i saw a few mentions of it but diddnt see anything very specific and was late for class so diddnt have time to look for too long. strangely enough mine actually started working normally again after i kept switching from 2G to 3G to LTE, which is great. but if i would've known that info earlier i could have checked if my IMEI disappeared while my radio still wasn't working, i assume it probably did.
after searching around more i found this thread that talks about it and how to prevent it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1857054
thanks for the help g0at1, hopefully this helps out the OP if he hasn't already fixed the problem, or anyone else that comes across this.
nope
I've flashed back stock numerous times even flashed other versions such as e988 and back again if u dint know how to do that just change your build number in your build prop file...I've tried everything I am downt to antenna cable SIM reader or cell radio.. If radio I might as well just give up cause I can't find one for sell anywhere...I'm not so pressed as I'm using the LG g2 and it's so fast stable and a bit slimmer I think I'm gonna keep it but I would like to fix it and sell it though...... My symptoms are mentioned and all tried fixes are there. Imei is read carrier is not WiFi is received but there is an X above the data bars phone is fully unlocked as well
This may help also but it does not read my imei when the SIM is not in hmm maybe I will rework the imei code and get back if that works. I will keep updated when fixed and with solution

Android N DP3 WiFi calling

On the latest Android N offering the wifi calling option whilst present doesnt seem to work as i get no 'wifi calling' showing on the phone. Anyone else have this issue?
I saw it briefly mentioned in the main N thread but I think it got lost amongst the flashing/rooting advice.
Anyone found a way to enable it or is it just a DP3 bug to be fixed.

I have the 3rd Preview (NPD35K) installed on my N5X and the notification pull down states WIFI Calling (for T-Mobile). Is there another way to verify aside from making a call?
I did also notice you can do a "Only WIFI Calling" in settings as well.

Hmm it worked ok on preview 2 but doesnt state wifi calling anymore in notification pulldown. Did you clean flash or OTa? I OTA'ed up from M again (reset to M for holiday as DP2 had a few stability issues for me) so might need a factory reset.
Well I reset to factory setting (finally got round to unlocking my bootloader) and still no mention of wifi calling.

I did a clean install from Marshmallow for about a week. I have moved back to MM last night, too many issues with my mains apps used (fitbit, trigger, snapchat, flixster etc.)

Lost visual voicemail

This has happened to me a few times on different ROMs, but when I was on my N5, I was able to toggle the setting for VV back on in the phone app's settings. I'm currently on Bliss on the OP3 and I've scoured the settings section and there is no mention of VV. Anyone know any other way I can get it back? I'm running a custom theme also - not sure if that's what made me lose it.

A working / stable AOSP or EmotionOS ROM????

I'm looking for a new or Stable Rom to use than TW,...
Has anybody been able to achieve this?
with working Calls, MMS, SMS and even Data?
or even without the GPS, Camera 4K or 60FPS Recording Issues?
I've been running emotion. With no major issues. At first I couldn't get data. Well you can get 3g if you let boot and go into networks and change to 3g.
I finally figured out 4g.
Goto APN and change the n.ispsn to r.ispsn save and reboot for 4g.
Best bet is to copy the LTE apn info from your working daily driver. Then add new APN.
Only issue I have is no 5ghz hotspot. 2.4g works fine though.
And something is not right with something google related. Can't add contacts or google account to android wear 2.0
Thansk for the tip c:
Would you mind sharing me the file? or letting me know what version you are running for Emotion OS? and what I could do to backup my APNS? or any other suggestions will help me out alot.
Thanks for the advice
I will try it out sometime, I will definitely see if i can backup my APNS to use in Emotion and Add this one you described aswell. I Don't use hotspot so that's not a problem either.
for me they were small issues like there was no fast charging, just cable charging but it was enough to charge it within an hour......then 45 minutes for me on Stock TW PK1 and there was no 60FPS recording on Emotion Os either? , the 4k looks better on the S6 then the N4 so I don't care about that at all, but I've also tried using other Camera Apps too, but it doesn't suggest the 60FPS .Nor 4k Feature but 1080P hasn't been a huge problem to me lol...
but the rest was the fact that my GPS wouldn't exactly lock for me , it would detect it but when I was traveling it wasn't grabbin my exact location.
I was also able to get 4G Data but I would then get a text saying to activate even tho, I'm already able to send and receive text messages and calls too.. MMS i wasn't able to test at that time because I had to switch to stock immediately....
my workaround for getting Snapchat was logging into it before rooting it on Stock......but on EmotionOS I'm not entirely sure how I will be able to do that other than making a Titanium Backup and restoring it from there..
