can't flash a CWM recovery on my wife's E980 using Freegee....Mine is the white one and I had no loki issues with it...everytime you flsays:
"checking if loki-ifying is needed/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc. /by-name/boot needs lokifying. [-] Failed to find function to patch.
Error loki-ifying the boot image. "
yes I did use Freegee already and install CWM. When I booted it gave me this...I can't install any ROMS. yet my other G Pro (white) is fine and hasn't given me any issues. RIght now I'm stuck with it booting into clockwork by itself. And I would like to use TWRP but the version that comes with Freegee doesn't work right on the damn screen. If it's not bootlooping into Clockwork then it gets frozen at the LG screen with something about security crap. and the funny part is...I used Freegee both times.
EDIT: used LGFlashTool to bring it back..but she wants a custom ROM and every recovery I flash to it either
1. used this recovery. tried flashing using a CWM recovery that I used from Freegee http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2552611
freezes at the LG screen with a SECURITY ERROR on the left corner of the screen (flashtools will fix)
2. When I do successfully flash a recovery using Freegee and I get it to boot into CWM it won't come back out of CWM it will boot automatically into it (LGflashtools will fix)
3. the freegee TWRP in won't work right with the touch screen.
Yes I saw that there are 2 topics similar to this, but they are G2's. Mine is an AT&T E980 that i'm having issues with.
I had exactly this same problem. I'm also on AT&T E980 and could not find a fix anywhere for this phone. I flashed back to stock so many times that I was ready to just get rid of it. What I finally noticed was that, if I flashed back to stock and took the update to E98010P, I could flash TWRP through FreeGee and the touch would work. I also used VooDoo OTA to preserve root through the update. I don't know if it was necessary, but it didn't cause me any problems and everything worked.
I have no idea why CWM stopped working and I could not use Phil's recovery either, but the whole experience has been maddening and I have never had so many problems with a phone before. Hope this helps.
i have the same annoying problem!
can someone help?
after the rom flash was done i've got the error so i immediately restored my backup

so...Root using the old firmware...voodoo OTA then update?...and then restore root and then Freegee should work fine with TWRP?
ive installed the twrp recovery and the flash completed , but the idiot checked the MD5 than skipped it than finished and on the bottom line just did NOTHING!
what the hell!
what is going on with this phone! so frustrating ...
Yeah, I went back to stock, rooted and installed FreeGee and Voodoo, then took the update and flashed TWRP thru FreeGee.

Ok I have used CWM from FreeGee and used the Carbon (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2439911) ROM and it does not need lokifying for my AT&T E980. It loads fine. I'm looking for a way to fix the lokifying thing though as I can't flash too many ROMs, a lot need lokifying.
I've personally had no issues on my E980 using TWRP flashed by FreeGee, but you can always try the "hacked" TWRP provided by @madmack

Trying to install Viper ROM 1.7.1 on my HTC M8 through CWM but the screen seems to fade away & gets completely overlaped & not readable... If still proceed further and complete the install it gets stuck in bootloops ... tried thrice every time its the same. My phone is Unlocked & Rooted but am not able to get the S-Off work. OS build inumber is 1.60.708.2.
Attached are the pics taken while in recovery... TWRP not able to download gets stuck at 99.99%, if anyone can please provide img file on drive if incase the problem lies with CWM.
Looking ahead for assistance ?
Problem is with cwm as viper has aroma installer. You need twrp. I just tried to download from official site and it worked fine for me.

Though so it could be recovery problem, but two points in mind:
1. The link from where I got the CWM recovery, showed a video tutorial wherein he got installed Viper One 1.6.0 through CWM ... I'm having S-On but I don't think that could be an issue for installing ROM or particular with the issue that I'm facing. So most probably it has to do with Recovery.
2. Trying to download TWRP 2.7.1.0 or even with TWRP 2.7.0.2 I'm facing with the similar issue, the download comes and halts at 99.99% can't get through ahead of this. So please if someone can just post ME a latest TWRP img on drive for download it would be really nice & helpful.

I spent hole day with same issue yesterday. But was able to download twrp ok. I suspect cwm is not working with m8. Adding to this prob i also had a dodgy sd card in my phone.
Suggest you look for another download source or download one of the easy root tools and pull twrp zip from that.
Once you get twrp flashed to your phone you will be able to flash rom. I also flashed boot.img

As i quoted the easy root tools. Just download the zip and pull from there.
I just received my Nexus 7 2013 16gb WiFi from amazon a few days ago, and it's been great. The recovery has had issues though, it tried to do an OTA update the first day I got it, and when it rebooted, it just stayed on a black screen instead of actually going to recovery, so I had to hard reboot it, to get back to the jellybean it came with. This wasn't a major issue at the time, since then I've just unlocked it and flashed kitkat via fastboot (I'll get lollipop once it has gravitybox or something similar). But since then, I've rooted it and installed TWRP, and TWRP runs fine, but has some weird issues. It seems to not actually see the OS at all, or even the storage filesystem. I have to do a hard reboot to even get out of TWRP, as trying to get out normally gives me the error "Warning blah blah no OS installed, are you sure?", to which I tell it I'm sure and it just reboots recovery. But doing a hard reboot boots into the OS just fine. Am I doing something wrong? TWRP was installed AFTER I installed KitKat and the updated bootloader with the official google factory images, is this a problem?
Some images of what I'm seeing:

Maybe it's because you're running TWRP 2.8.2.0 which is for Lollipop. If it doesn't work with 2.8.1.0, try with the lastest 2.8.2.2. Running Lollipop at least, everyone had the same problem with both 2.8.2.0 and 2.8.2.1.
where can I place the recovery image where twrp will see it?
Thanks for your suggestion LittleConfucy. I was wondering if you can tell me where to put recovery image that TWRP can see it?
Flashing is a problem without being able to access the image to flash in the stripped down rom file system that twrp boots into. No shared directory in /cache.
Nevermind I got it dialed in.

Hi all!!!
I am starting this thread because after searching I am still puzzled about this bumped thing.
I am new to LG G3 and have just recieved my phone back after bricking it few weeks ago. I am now more aware of how easy Lg is to brick. so before I jump into rooting again I want to know
exactly what is going on.
some Q:
what does bumped do?
Does it need to be bumped?
Can I get back to stock without bump? or with it?
before I used drake root them flashed twrp in flashify work fine then i flashed ota stock and got bootloader error. no download, no recovery.
Dont want to go there again
My Phone Model: D855 soft:V20f-twn-xx
Thanks
Bump! Bump!
Bump is how we trick the bootloader Sri that we can install custom roms and kernels.
When you are rooted do not take ota's. You have learned the hard way what can happen when you do
Thanks for reply! But what if we don't use bumped twrp for recovery and flash normal twrp recovery & ROM like a normal device?? Does this make it impossible to go back to stock or something??or will it break the boot loader??
You must use bump or you will end up in a boot loop
I think I may have done the same thing with my install of TWRP (a month or two ago). I have TWRP 2.8.0.0 installed, but how can I tell if I have the bumped version? If I don't can I install the bumped version using Recovery without getting stuck in a bootloop? If not, is there to uninstall TWRP and then install the bumped version?
Yes, install the latest twrp for your device in recovery.
Thanks ... all good, now have a bumped version of TWRP installed.
Hi... The bump stuff is something that make me confused too... In my old Galaxy S3 we just have to install custom recovery and start flash roms...
However, in my G3, i just install flashify, flash recovery from flashify and start to flash roms normally... Never understand what bump stuff is and never got a bootloop. Flash lots of roms without problem. If you dont to simplify the process just install flashify and start flashing roms you want
flashify isn't simplifying anything. It's bottle feeding you. It's making you dependent to Flashify. It's making you no nothing about your phone, adb commands, Bump, custom recovery etc..
If something breaks and you end up in a bootloop, let's see what flashify is going to do for you. If you know your adb commands and fastboot commands you know how to push zip files to your file or reboot into recovery/download mode from the terminal and much more.
I have an LG g3 d850 and I made it bump. I see in many forums many opinions about the bump, among them that you can only flash roms previously bumped, but I just flicked my cell phone a lollipop rom that did not say I was bumped and it's all good. I will be free to flash any rom of any version (either MM and then download to lollipop) without problems? In my Note 4 I only had to flash the rom according to the bootloader version and it worked all right! But I see that everything is difficult with the process of bump the cell phone. I do not see many roms "bumped" in the forums and I feel limited and I think that if it is not bumped I can not flash it? it is right? I have some doubts

Edit - I know I sound weird but I don't like dirty flashes. I always reboot into bootloader, fastboot erase recovery and then fastboot flash recovery twrp.img ( I rename it twrp.img for short) then boot into it. I have done this for years on BL unlocked devices and never had a problem flashing twrp. It's just ME, but I think it is fun typing the stuff, and it assures me that I have a clean state and am not dirty flashing anything! Also, on others phones I use RASHR instead of flashify. Once again, personal preference but have had better luck.

Sounds like you might need to google that. I just straight flashed the d851.img within twrp itself and it updated just fine.
ahh damn. i literally just purchased the phone yesterday. I cant seem to get to any other mode from here
Did you google. It sounds like the LAF partition needs to be erased and reflashed from the KDZ. you also need the drivers installed. If you bork your phone installing a recovery idk if flashing things should be on your priority list...lol

yeah i did. this isnt my first go round flashing stuff. ive rooted every smartphone ive ever owned. Just never had seen this error before, and this is my first time utilizing flashify. I normally just do it from recovery as well. This phone has issues with twrp though it seems, it never reboots to recovery correctly. I'm currently at work, but the phone goes to download mode, just didnt want to have to erase anything. i appreciate you checking back with me though. Ive found links for returning to stock so that will be the first thing i do here.

I've never had a problem. It's actually my girlfriends phone. I do know that you eother have download mode or fastboot and those can be changed via the rom you use. The easiest thing would be is to do a KDZ like you said, I know it sucks going back to square one. Then just reroot and honestly? I use RASHR on the playstore. Never had a problem flashing recoveries with that. Also I always recommend cleaning your phone with sd maid, then using trimmer on the playstore. Keeps the flash clean and ever since ive used them ive never had a corrupt download. Could be a placebo but has worked for years. Also, I highyl recommend investing in an OTG and nice USB drive. Silicon Power makes a fantastic usb 3.0 and has a lifetime, love my lifetime warranty's, and to reduce further corruption of files I usually download them to my pc, copy to the flash drive, and use the otg to flash roms/recoveries and what not in the recovery that way. To each their own but its been a good 3 years since i've bootlooped a device or got stuck in fastboot. I have before, but thats on older crap phones. Haha good luck bud
I also posted in the CM13 thread--I have the new 3.0 installed & just flashed CM13. Now when I go to recovery, TWRP just freezes at the startup screen....anyone have any ideas? I can't install any zips with Flashify or TWRP.
Update: got TWRP to work after downgrade to 2.8.7

Well--For some reason flashing this zip ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-lg-g3/general/flashable-twrp-3-0-zip-t3317306 ) "made" 3.0 work for me.....every other way (adb, Flashify, TWRP Manager) resulted in a frozen startup screen. Not sure why, but it is now working......so if you get a problem with 3--I can say that flashing from 2.8.7 with the 3.0 zip works.
I was having the install problem using CM13---just a FYI

Lmao, can't win every war. well i'm glad you're up and running. I am a stock based rom person myself. Don't like the woes and loss of features that comes with CM, loved it back in the day but it's a 1 ROM road for me now. Fulmics 4.0 is running AMAZING on this phone btw.
