Hi all!!!
I am starting this thread because after searching I am still puzzled about this bumped thing.
I am new to LG G3 and have just recieved my phone back after bricking it few weeks ago. I am now more aware of how easy Lg is to brick. so before I jump into rooting again I want to know
exactly what is going on.
some Q:
what does bumped do?
Does it need to be bumped?
Can I get back to stock without bump? or with it?
before I used drake root them flashed twrp in flashify work fine then i flashed ota stock and got bootloader error. no download, no recovery.
Dont want to go there again
My Phone Model: D855 soft:V20f-twn-xx
Thanks
Bump! Bump!
Bump is how we trick the bootloader Sri that we can install custom roms and kernels.
When you are rooted do not take ota's. You have learned the hard way what can happen when you do
Thanks for reply! But what if we don't use bumped twrp for recovery and flash normal twrp recovery & ROM like a normal device?? Does this make it impossible to go back to stock or something??or will it break the boot loader??
You must use bump or you will end up in a boot loop
I think I may have done the same thing with my install of TWRP (a month or two ago). I have TWRP 2.8.0.0 installed, but how can I tell if I have the bumped version? If I don't can I install the bumped version using Recovery without getting stuck in a bootloop? If not, is there to uninstall TWRP and then install the bumped version?
Yes, install the latest twrp for your device in recovery.
Thanks ... all good, now have a bumped version of TWRP installed.
Hi... The bump stuff is something that make me confused too... In my old Galaxy S3 we just have to install custom recovery and start flash roms...
However, in my G3, i just install flashify, flash recovery from flashify and start to flash roms normally... Never understand what bump stuff is and never got a bootloop. Flash lots of roms without problem. If you dont to simplify the process just install flashify and start flashing roms you want
flashify isn't simplifying anything. It's bottle feeding you. It's making you dependent to Flashify. It's making you no nothing about your phone, adb commands, Bump, custom recovery etc..
If something breaks and you end up in a bootloop, let's see what flashify is going to do for you. If you know your adb commands and fastboot commands you know how to push zip files to your file or reboot into recovery/download mode from the terminal and much more.
I have an LG g3 d850 and I made it bump. I see in many forums many opinions about the bump, among them that you can only flash roms previously bumped, but I just flicked my cell phone a lollipop rom that did not say I was bumped and it's all good. I will be free to flash any rom of any version (either MM and then download to lollipop) without problems? In my Note 4 I only had to flash the rom according to the bootloader version and it worked all right! But I see that everything is difficult with the process of bump the cell phone. I do not see many roms "bumped" in the forums and I feel limited and I think that if it is not bumped I can not flash it? it is right? I have some doubts

Ok guys I am a noob (also new to these forums) and I'm having a lot of trouble with my phone. The other day, I rooted my phone using towelroot and confirmed it using root checker. then, I downloaded ROM manager as advised by a friend. i followed the instructions and installed Clockworkmod Recovery onto my AT&T Galaxy S3. Feeling I was finally ready to install a ROM, i tried to download Cyanogenmod 10.3.1 only to have it be "downloading" for over 14 hours without it completing. From there, i did some research and decided to utilize the Cyanogenmod Installer. it seemed to work perfectly, even showing the cyanogenmod logo under when my devicec turned on, until it told me to reboot my device. i entered clockworkmod recovery mode to officially reboot it. when i selected "reboot system now" it said "Root access possibly lost. Fix?". i was given the options to say "No" and "Yes - Fix root (/system/xbin/su). no matter which one i try, my phone boots to the stock touchwiz OS. I have installed and reinstalled both superuser, superSU, and ROM manager to no success. What am i doing wrong?
Try flashing Philz Touch via Odin and use that to flash a custom ROM.
From what I recall, CM ROMs are already rooted.

CM is already rooted? What does that mean? I have a feeling that I will be unable to flash any ROMs due to my "possible loss of root access." Thank you for your patience as I am a noob and am very stressed out as this is my only phone.
I see two areas that are potential problems for flashing that rom. If it took 14 hours to download, its highly likely a corrupted download. But also, you may be on too new firmware. Cm uses asserts in the updater-script to check that you have the right base firmware/bootloader build. They dont update this so when newer firmware is released it will no longer flash because the script doesn't see it as allowed.
Anytime you have issues flashing something in recovery, you should copy the recovery log to sd. This will tell you what happened. I suspect it simply didn't flash, but without the log, theres no way we can tell what happened.
Also, you do not need to be rooted to flash anything from recovery. Just flash the recovery, then flash a rom from there. Nearly all roms you will ever see are already rooted. Non rooted roms are very rare and are generally only used as an alternate way to revert to stock.
I dont use cwm, but if im not mistaken, it seems to always ask to fix root. I dont know why, but I see people ask about it frequently.
I use TWRP, so try that, or philz as suggested by audit13. Just watch the flash progress for any errors and copy the log.
So being that the m7 & m8 dev edition phones r getting lollipop update AS I TYPE THIS, I find myself prepping for when big red pushes the update.. I've modified many system files, so I've got the stock odex Rom downloaded and was about to download stock recovery when I realized my laptop is toast and don't have access to. Another cpu for quite awhile . I've flashed twrp over the stock recovery with Flashify with no problems, but wondering if flashing stock recovery back over twrp with flashify is any different or if anyone else has done so, and if there's any problems? (yes I know it's always recommended to use fastboot, but I can't, no pc) ... I've used flashify many times, just not putting stock recovery back... Any feedback is much appreciated..m
I have done it with no issues. YMMV as fastboot is a lot less likely to get errors compared to a script app running on the phone.
Sent from my HTC6500LVW using XDA Free mobile app
N I definitely spoke wrong, appears just the m8 got lollisense today... Oh well, @ least we know it's coming...
Hey guys,so heres the problem...recently i had to use the LG Support Tool and prior to this i was v50020d. When the tool had finished restoring the stock ROM,it upgraded me to v50020f. So i went and successfully rooted it with KingoRoot surprisingly enough with no trouble at all. I then tried to install TWRP Recovery, through the TWRP app,Flashify,Rashr and i even tried Fastboot and ADB which im led to believe don't work with the v500 but i still tried it and had absolutely no success at all in installing TWRP. I have tried flashing every version of TWRP from 2.8.7.1 back to 2.6.3.0 i think using all those apps mentioned above. So i came on here to XDA to see could i find any solution to my problem but no luck either but i did find a post where a script was used, edited and apparently worked. I downloaded the zip file that was used in this process, edited the runme.bat file by changing the last letter of the build to f which would correspond to my build which is v50020f. I saved the edited file and then ran the script which when finished told me that recovery had been installed so i rebooted the G Pad,it started up,the blue teamwin screen came up and then it just hung there for hours! Thats was it nothing more. No recovery installed. So then i went and used Flashify & flashed `twrp-2.8.7.1-v500.img´ and when i rebooted i got 'secure booting error, cause:device unlock:so boot success!!' rebooted the G Pad again and the same thing happened blue teamwun screen loads and then nothing,no recovery. So i flashed the same recovery image with TWRP Recovery app and when it was finished i got the message 'Success!! Flashing recovery was successful, would you like to attempt rebooting into recovery? so i did and again the same thing happened. Teamwin blue screen and nothing more. When i check TWRP Recovery app afterwards it tells me that there is no recovery installed or it us not recognised. Can anybody please, please, please find a solution to my problem? Oh yeah,i even tried booting into recovey by using the power and volume up and down trick too and got the same result. Thank you so much guys...hope you can help.
I think I've seen that in order to install TWRP on the V500 is similar to how on my VK810 variant, at least the part that requires downgrading your bootloader. If it's like the VK810, it has to be the bootloader from 4.2.2. I'm sure there's TWRP threads in these sections, specifically for the V500 that give the details and files.
I'd love to know a way too. I just rooted which went great, but I have the V50020f and don't want to do another thing until I see what happens in this thread. After years of flashing and rooting I finally hard bricked my Lenovo Yoga 10 and this is my replacement tablet, so I don't want to chance it at all. Until I read a concrete solution for this build I'm staying where I am.
That wall of text is really hard to read @[email protected]!c, when I first saw it I was too tired to try and decipher it so ignored it. Now I've had another look.
Have you tried downgrading to an older firmware which people have had success with?
I had trouble when I first got this tablet but kept reading the forum and found a method to downgrade, it isn't pretty but eventually it worked. As I'm new to this device I'm not overly familiar with the different official firmware versions so I'm not exactly sure what you've got.
My tablet was more complicated as the LG tool put the Chinese, no Google apps, version on for me as that is where it was bought. So I had to downgrade so I could get apps from the Play Store to flash my recovery!
So patience and research will reward you.

Hi!! I'm in the same boat! Any chance you were able to work out a solution? Thanks so much for any help!!
I know it didn't work for the OP, but coming from bone stock v50020f, I successfully rooted using ioroot25r1, updated Supersu through playstore, then using flashify i installed TWRP 2.8.7.1 (newest I think). Once booted into TWRP recovery, I wiped cache, data, and system, and then installed AOSP Marshmallow. All went smooth as silk, no problems at all. Now I can finally stop being jealous of my wifes Nexus 7!! Hope this helps some.

Thanks.!
i have just used twrp manager apk from playstore (similar to flashify) to get TWRP 2.8.7.1 on stock v50020f, rooted using ioroot25r1 on a mac, with updated Supersu through playstore. just had to run the apk twice as it failed first time, and have booted into twrp recovery.
Had the same problem with the recovery but worked by rooting and flashing recovery with flashify.
Hello everyone.
I have issue with my lg l70.
I recently tried to install custom rom because i got angry with bloatware (it is rooted and i deleted some of for me useless sys apps) and restriction to 4.4.2 os. I wanted to put 5.0+ or even 6.0 on him custom rom.
The problem is that this device is not supported on cwm and i tried to flash it with some img file so i can make cwm work for my device and hopefully update phone with custom one. I ended up with soft brick. I can use phone normally but since then i cannot do factory reset because it pops up with purple error screen.
If you can help me solve some stuff i would be very pleased.
So here are the things i would like to do:
I want to flash it back with all standard apps and roms and whatever else i want to have clean phone like it was when i bought it without purple screen on hard reset.
Second thing that i want is to put custom rom on it.
Hello,
Since you have installed the wrong recovery IMG you can either search for a stock recovery for your device and flash it (on the phone or by PC), find a custom recovery specific to the device or look up tutorials on porting a custom recovery for the device, Good luck!

Thanks ive fixed it.
Ive used Lg Flash tool 2014 and D320n10c_00.kdz (searched it on goole and dl it.)
Now since ive unbricked it i will try to put a custom rom. I am not sure how but i hope i will not brick it again
No problem, glad you were able to get your device back! Make sure to make a backup through recovery to be able to revert if anything goes wrong. Good luck installing custom Roms

I did it no problem, and installed CyanogenMod 6.0.1
Had some problems with gapps but i solved it on my own
I recently flashed v30b on my D855. I did a clean (CSE) flash with the LG flash tool 2014 and rooted the device with KingRoot. But every time I reboot I lose root acces.
I installed the bump'd version of TWRP with flashify, but when I try to boot into TWRP I get a MISMATCH_SIG_LEN error before the screen goes black and the led starts blinking. I then pull out the battery to start over with a fresh unrooted phone. I think I loose root acces before entering recovery or something. I did some searching, but the only solution I found was to do a clean install, which I already did.
My goal is to install TWRP to flash custom ROMs. How do I fix this?
I think that after installing root with kingroot you will need to perm root it. Kingroot is only temporaty and even if you uninstall it you get unrooted.

I'm having a sort of similar problem on my D85130d. I downgraded fine from 30g to 30d with LGUP. downloaded kingroot and rooted. That was all good. Installed TWRP and flashed the recovery rom and was able to make a backup of my current stock rom (which has saved my life because I think I've soft bricked my phone about 4 times trying to permanent root hahah). Since I AM new to rooting I think I'm missing a certain step, (or maybe the zips im trying to flash are corrupt?) Basically, tried https://forum.xda-developers.com/tm...wngrading-rooting-t3608851/page3#post74961164 and I've also tried https://forum.xda-developers.com/tm...ock-d851-30d-kdz-flashable-zips-imgs-t3367371. The problem with the first one is its not completely specific and like I mentioned before, I'm a white belt at rooting lol. The second thread gave me hope and i do have TWRP installed so I downloaded the 2 main zips I would need (a. LG-D85130D-Flashable.Boot-AUTOREPACK.zip
and b. SuperSU zip) reboot to recovery and flashed both zips separately then reboot. But I end up with a TMO screen and it stays like that. This last time I even left it loading on that screen for about 2 hours and no such luck. I'm wondering is there something I'm missing? Any help would be greatly appreciated from the XDA gods

To be fair, i perma rooted the v30B variant. Im not sure bout the D. I rooted it with kingroot, installed TWRP via autorec, i went in recovery and flashed the file thats in the post, rebooted and then installed supersu from the playstore and im perma rooted. After that kingroot is gone and you are left with supersu. This is the guide i followed https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/root-twrp-marshmallow-d855-30b-t3286268
