Hello everyone! getting directly into the problem which is VPN i had this issue on other devices too like HTC One X, HTC Butterfly S and now the One M8 here what its like:
-Setup vpn account (PPTP or IPSEC)
-Connect to VPN
-VPN connects successfully.
- it will take less than one minute for it to stop connectivity and you will end up with an idle connection but it wont drop. nothing is loading and vpn data shows slow transfer.
searching for this issue i see other devices which are running 4.3 and 4.4 having this issue too. some claimed its fixed in android L but when i switched to GPE 5.0.1 to try it its still there.
tried several vpn servers and OPENvpn too all suffer from there same issue. the only VPN app worked was Private Tunnel i guess but its not free and it limits you to their VPN service and you wont be able to use the app to connect to other VPN servers from other providers....
if you dont know anything about the fix please just report if you device can connect and USE VPN without any problem and report along with : - S-ON or S-OFF
- LOCKED-UNLOCKED
- STOCK or CUSTOM ROM
Thanks! :good:

Hello all
I previous was able to connect to my works Cisco VPN using VPN Connections However I just upgraded to EC05 (via a method that preserved /DATA) and I cannot get it to work correctly.
Ironically after updating tun.ko I get the message that I am "connected" but none of the traffic seems to be routed via the VPN- its as if I'm surfing the web without the VPN running- in other words I can surf but can't get to any protected areas.
Any ideas?
I'm hoping to avoid a hard reset/fresh install of EC05 but maybe I have to do one to troubleshoot?
EDIT: For whatever reason VPNC Widget seems to work (except after disconnecting I have to reboot to get the internet to work correctly-seems to be a known problem with this app- it does not rewrite DNS upon disconnect) so I guess I will stick with that in the meantime
I love fixing my own problems!!! I would thank myself if that was possible!
Turns out I was using an old version of busybox- once I updated it I was able to use VPN connections again with proper routing!
My oppo N1 running CM11 M8, one of my major problem is the useless of VPN. I used many third apps to connect to VPN, and always failed to connect. Even, if suddenly connected, I couldn't access Google play as the connection become very slow. I need VPN mainly to connect to Google play store, as it restricted in my region.
How to fix
I use hotspot to connect to VPN in CM11, although it connected and the hot spot go green, nothing happened and the Google play become blank.
Then I tried to close the full protection within the hotspot shield app, its icon become blue ( see photo) and lastly I can access Google play. Not sure what happened but I googled my problem earlier and found that the VPN issue is common since android 4.4.2..

Hi
My HTC One M8 has a problem with WiFi:
It does not scan the neighbour access points ("Scan" shows nothing, but my other Android phones show more than 20 nearby routers) and it shows "Not in range" for nearby wireless modems I've previously added.
I should add every new WiFi router manually!
I've tested every advice in the Internet forums (disabling "WiFi power saving mode", changing WiFi channels on WiFi router, etc)
Right now I use an Android app called "Wifi Fixer" to temporarily overcome this problem.
My phone is fully updated (4.4.2, Software version: 1.54.401.10)
Does anyone know whether it's a known bug that will be solved in a future update or should I use CyanogenMod to overcome it?
Anyone else with this problem ?!
Thanks
Hello,
i've come from this thread thread
I have a galaxy nexus running stock android 4.2.1 with a very peculiar problem. From time to time i have trouble accessing a certain website if i try from wifi or from mobile connection it doesn't matter. If i restart the device the website works without a problem. It was a very odd problem and kept bugging me so i tried to focus on finding the real cause. After a lot of try and error i managed to arrive at this situation:
I have at my disposal 3 different wifi networks (lets call the wifi-1,wifi-2,wifi-3) and mobile broadband connections.
after a reboot of the phone (just to have a clear state) if i connect to wifi-1,2 or mobile conn the website works OK. if i connecto to wifi-3 the site also works OK but then after i disconnect from wifi-3 and connect to any of the other wifi-1,wifi-2 or mobile conn it doesn't work anymore. If i connect to wifi-3 again it works fine on that network.
I've connected to the phone using connectbot and checked the ip address and different params. and i simply can't get a ping to that website. a similar website located in the same subnet but on a different IP still works.
So what could happen on the network layer on the phone to stop working the connection to a certain IP?
Where could i find some info about how to debug IP networking issues on android 4.2.x
PS: I control both the phone and the servers that i'm trying to reach and can't see any traffic coming from the phone on the server.
PS1: I couldn't reproduce the issue with android 4.2.2 only with 4.2.1 (i've also tested android 4.4.4 and couldn't reproduce) i've tested 2 different phones with 4.2.1 and the problem reproduces.
PS2: IPv6 is disabled on wifi networks
PS3: all networks use different ip address classes and the IP changes accordingly. i was able to reproduce the issue only with a specific website/ IP
I was hoping someone would have answered you here.
Let me ask you this. Can you do process of Elimination ?
Choose a different Web such as this site http://forum.xda-developers.com
Next Connect the phone to each network and the Data in turn. Each time, first wipe data to the Browser on your phone. Go to the website. See if it loads and interacts well. (Go to some forum or log in etc.)
Switch to the next network and repeat. Let me know how that goes.
Next find a computer and have it do the same thing with internet Explorer. Clear IE's cache data each time. See how that goes as well with this site as your test site.
Wifi only variant N7 Is not connecting to my HTC Desire X with Portable hotspots turned on with mobile data turned on (mobile data works on HTC and hotspot works with my Laptop)
Hotspot uses WPA2 encryption (have tried without)
Hotspot is sometimes shown in available Wifi connections (asks for password and saves credentials but does not connect or authenticate)
will add screenshots later...

Same issue with connectify on Windows 8.1 machine, I'm running a rooted stock rom (KK) with a load of Google junkware removed
Got my Home Wifi working again (was down for a week) but when trying to connect it shows "authentication problem" and then shows saved. this is on the lolipop 5.0.2 image from google as I thought It may be firmware related.
Tried removing WIFI authentication and still doesn't work (the wifi works with nearly every other device in the house.)
Any help ould be mega appreciated people
