Sea water in my Lg G3 - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone, I need your help.
Sea water entered in my Lg G3 while it was in my pocket and a big sea wave hit me while walking on the sea side. When I opened it I found some salt on the motherboard. The device went dead when I install the battery I see the Lg logo for 1 second and disappears. After that the notification led goes green and blue spontanuously. I took it to a repair shop he told me motherboard is gone and they don't have it.
Now my issue is if it's really gone why I can see Lg logo when I install the battery even for 1 second? In addition if this is true , from where I can get a motherboard? because the cost in the dealer is around
U$ 200.
Please help me

I had same problem with my old phone.
I suppose that you made it completely dry before you tried to turn it on.
Leave phone for few hours or try to use something to be sure its completely dry.
After that try to change battery. If something die, i think that battery will be the first. Try to use other battery and try to turn it on while is on charger.
When this happen to me, battery just gone crazy. After few circles of charging, its back to normal.

Maybe there is some residue of sea water (salt) on the PCB.
You could try to flush and clean the device with destilled water, then letting it dry completely with back cover off. It may take days for all the water rests to disappear.
If you are lucky it could still be alive....

Forgot to say that I tried another battery and still same result 1 second of logo lg then it turns off. Also this happened 45 days back and when I opened it myself I found sea salt on the board.

is there any proof of water damage?
remove the battery and check if the water dot has changed color or not.
if not the you are lucky take it to service centre .
but before goind place it in a jar full of uncooked rice for a day or so.
and then try starting it again.
If the service cetre in ur city is an outsourced one then they might easily replace whole of the motherboard .
The water dot has red dots...it isn't fully red... :s
btw...my phone came back to life automatically...no issues...but that water dot is worrying me...
are both the dots red(one near sim card and other on battery)
if both then u might lose the warranty.
but is one then you can make an excuse that you were blowing mouth air on the dot and some part of it turned red..

[Q] Nokia lumia 900 damaged by water

My nokia was damaged by water. now as I plug it it just blinks ones vibrates, and it repeats all the time in period of couple seconds. As I think battery is dead, I removed and connected 3.7v to the pins on motherboard, phone is doing somthing like booting or smht. but screen is not working as it is damaged by water too.
So what can you recomend me what to do, how do you think phone is booting or not. do I have to spent money changing the screen? or maybe someone have used working screen and battery to sell?
Hi there,
it is always the wrong way to switch on your phone, after it fell into water...
Because if there got water inside, you'll destroy your phone by switching it on, as you are causing "short circuits" on the motherboard.
The only thing you can do now , is selling i would say.
If you have a water damage on your phone, do NOT switch it on! It's best to totally disassemble your phone, and remove the battery!!
The you should dry all parts of the phone (might take a couple of days)...

[Q]Phone not turning on causes?

Hey XDA-Devs,
I broke the LCD of my Note 2 while trying to change a cracked glass, brought it into a repair shop to let the phone be repaired.
Before I brought the phone into the shop I charged it and turned it on all the buttons had light and even an alarm clock I set woke me up from my sleep.
After getting the phone back from the shop the phone stopped working at all it doesn't turn on and the LED doesn't turn on while loading, so I brought the phone back to the shop and he told me that I fried the circuit board while using the heating pistol trying to repair the LCD and that the phone will only turn on without the screws as the MoBo can vent.
He unscrewed the phone took it out and put it to charge the battery showed up indicated that it's charging.
I take the phone back home and it stopped working again even without the screws.
Did the guy bull**** me, is there a way to make this work or is the phone just ****ed.
Your help and opinions would be appriciated

wont turn on

imhaving this wierd issue i put my lg g 3 away for a couple of months it was fine i go to turn it pn nothong when i plug charger in nothing no light blank any ideas thanks
Have you tried taking out the battery and putting it back in, then turning it on? Maybe it's a messed up battery? That's all I can think of now as I am not sure what could cause this issue. Hopefully someone else can elaborate.
possible water damage
Take the back cover off of thre phone and then remove the battery. Stuff the phone in a bag of white rice. Let it sit in the bag for a few days and the rice will suck the water out of the phone and it may run like new. This recently happened to mine and worked like a charm. You may also have a damaged micro usb jack or port.......Good Luck!

Same issue I HAD.
I purchased a LG G7 thinQ off of Craigslist.
Everything was fine minus the back glass being completely cracked and shattered.
I went on eBay and purchased the back glass with the finger print scanner and camera lens included, as well as a new battery (since I was already going to be inside the phone).
Completed the task, charged to 100 with phone off. Two days later as I left for vacation, the battery went from 17% to 10% then it shut off. I couldn't get it to take a charge, at all. So I messaged the eBay battery seller and had him send me a newer one. The previous battery date was 11-02-2018.
Once I got back into town, I opened the new battery and the date was 06-05-2019.
So far so good! I'd suggest watching YouTube and getting a heatgun or hairdryer.
I was in between it being a battery issue or the charging port itself. My back screen is cracked as well I habe always had a case on it but maybe with it being cracked with the humidity moisture has got to the battery???
up
I have the same problem too, it started after upgrade to android pie
