imhaving this wierd issue i put my lg g 3 away for a couple of months it was fine i go to turn it pn nothong when i plug charger in nothing no light blank any ideas thanks
Have you tried taking out the battery and putting it back in, then turning it on? Maybe it's a messed up battery? That's all I can think of now as I am not sure what could cause this issue. Hopefully someone else can elaborate.
possible water damage
Take the back cover off of thre phone and then remove the battery. Stuff the phone in a bag of white rice. Let it sit in the bag for a few days and the rice will suck the water out of the phone and it may run like new. This recently happened to mine and worked like a charm. You may also have a damaged micro usb jack or port.......Good Luck!

I was installing a full body shield on my phone today ( the kind where you have to wet the phone) and I think maybe I got some water into the phone, probably the charging port.
I left the battery out of the device for about an hour and put it back in and every thing was good. But then I connected it to the comp via usb and the comp recognized it, then didnt recognize it, endless cycle. I thought woah. Took out the battery, blow dried the charging port, left the battery out for a while. I connected again back to the computer and it seems fine.
Now I try to charge it.. weird stuff happening. I connect and let it charge for a while its fine.. then I disconnect and it still thinks its charging. After playing with the phone for a bit in battery settings it realizes its not charging fine. After a while I connect it to the charger, shows not charging, after a while shows charging via USB. Now again its not reconizing the charger.
I'm scared as **** and just took out the battery.. what do I do?

Have you tried the rice trick?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using Tapatalk
some people say put battery in rice for 48 hrs to take away all water. Plus there is like a small litmus paper on battery, it usually is pink w stripes and changes color when it comes in contact w water. If the color hasnt changed you can still get the phone exchanged, but try the rice trick.
this phone doesnt have the liquid stickers.
here's the thing, it was such small amounts of water being used I don;t think rice would work. Like rice just waits for the water to come out and dries it so the phone is fine before you use it.
I'm pretty sure the water is already out, I'm stuck with a problem.
Can I Flash to stock, lock the bootloader and send for warranty.. or will they know there was water involved?
The (insert charger) popup keeps coming up as well. Repeatedly
Odds are, you ruined it the minute you put the battery back in and turned it on. You can try taking the battery out and putting it in rice, but odds are that the damage has already been done.
I'm pretty sure that all of the instructions for the wet application protectors tell you to leave the battery out for at least 12 hrs, preferably a full day, before putting it back in and turning it on, and that is pretty much the reason why. If water gets anywhere it's not supposed to be, it can cause damage to the components. Live and learn I guess.

This phone has 4 liquid stickers. I just found all of them. They all work.
One ON the battery, one above the battery by the gold power contacts and two under the plastic cover.

I just updated my post above because I realized it could be helpful ^
Good luck to you as well!
...and now it's being laggy. I'm guessing this is due to the device always seeing anf not seeing a usb input.
I;m going to replace the charging jack tmrw from a technician I know.. hopefully that would fix the problem.
I gave it to one of my tech's. He's gonna open it up and try to clean any water damage and see if the stickers are good.
I have 3 ways to proceed:
Send it to my carrier, they'll give me a new/refurb phone. Cons: 35$ fee, may get a refurb phone, need to unroot phone, if water damage found, im stuck with a bill for a new phone.
Send it to Samsung, they'll repair it. Cons: I'll have no phone for a while it takes them a week or two to repair it. Need to unroot. If water damage found, they'll send it back unrepaired.
Get my tech to repair it by changing the chargin jack flex cable. Cons: Gotta pay him a fee probably $50-60. If something else goes wrong with the water damage later on, I'm screwed.
Not sure what to do right now.
Hello all, I wanted to ask everyone's advice on what to do with my phone.
A few days ago I took my phone off of the charger and I noticed the battery icon still had the lightning bolt still active. I turned the screen off and then magically it turned back on. I figured maybe I'd pop out the battery and power cycle the phone, maybe that would fix it. Well, it did. Then maybe 2 days later the same thing happened all over again, so I decided to follow the same process that I did before but, to no no avail.
If anyone has any suggestions, tips or possible solutions to this problem please let me know as soon as possible.
Thank you in advance!
Go take a look at the micro usb charging terminal on the bottom of your phone, it should be touching the inside walls of its housing. This is causing the phone to think its charging sooo all you need to do is get a thin knife and push the micro usb back into place..be careful
You may have liquid damage.
Last night my phone died after 2 days off cable due to me having to use my cord for another device. I plugged it in today to find that it wasn't charging at all. I decided to give it a few minutes before trying, thinking it may not be turning on because it still needs some juice. I waited 30 minutes and it wouldn't turn on still, just gave me the little animation of a battery draining to indicate that it needs to be charged. After this, I figured that it's possible the cable is just dead, so I opted to borrow a cable from my brother. The cable charges his phone just fine, but it doesn't work with charging my phone. I took a shower while waiting for it to perhaps get the juice it needed, and still no dice. I tried several different outlets thinking perhaps the outlet was dead, and still nothing.
I've had the phone for a little over a month, so I'm not sure how long I have to turn it in or not; I'd hope it'd be 3 months for factory issues, but judging from how people mention 14 days, I'd assume that they're eager to push responsibility of broken devices onto the customer as fast as they can. Do you guys have any idea of what could be wrong? Perhaps if it's possible for me to get a replacement at this point?
I've been running the Lifeless v.11 Rom for a while with no issues, I haven't flashed anything in possibly a week or two, so I honestly doubt this is a software issue. It's never been exposed to water, but then again I really don't trust phones to detect if they've been damaged or not since it seems even a humid day is enough for those small water damage detection stickers to run pink.

wish i could help you man:/ only thing i can think of is taking of the back plating and make sure the connector is fine.it would suck if we have another evo 4g on our hands, especially without a removable battery

Pull your battery, try again
Sent from my LG-LS970 using xda app-developers app
Yea, going to update this. Sprint was giving me issues and trying to cough up money from me, so I pulled the battery and cleaned the port with a q-tip and it charged fine again. I was in for a scare there, but it's back to life.
Same problem...didn't have to pull battery

Just wanted to chime in with my experience.
I had same issue. Battery completely drained with a visit to the relatives (low cell signal).
Got home and plugged it in for 5min, the "battery charging" animation came on when short pressing the power button.
Had to move the phone to a different charger for the night and noticed that I couldn't get it to even show the charging animation while on the charger. Indeed after 8 hours on the charger the next morning it still wouldn't turn on. I thought I would have to take it back to Best Buy. On a whim, I thought I would drain all of the capacitance from the system by pressing and holding the power button to see if that would allow it to restart the charge cycle. So I held the power button for about 30-45sec off the charger, then waited about 30min and plugged it in at work.
It worked. Not sure why, but I didn't have to return it to Best Buy, so I'm happy.
Hey guys
I bought a replacement battery and followed this guide. I successfully replaced it and was able to close it back up. However when I connect it to the charger the light appears and the screen turns on for about a second then turns off. I opened it back up to make sure the connections were stable, and they were fine. So i closed it back up again and its doing the same thing and even vibrating every 5 seconds but then stops.
Anyone that has replaced the battery experiencing this as well? Or anything similar? How did you solve it?
I just replaced the battery in mine. Seemed to go well and booted and worked great (seemed to fix the issue I was having of it randomly shutting off). I put it on the charger and it would not charge, so figured I must not have seated the inductive charging cable well enough, so took it back apart. While taking it back apart I managed to rip the display cable in half . Forget this thing I'm done with it.
My 4yo son helpfully dropped my phone down the toilet after he decided to borrow it to watch youtube. it blanked out and was totally dead. i left it in rice for 5 days (pre ordered the Mate 20 Pro)
Amazingly when i plug it into a charger it will now power on!!! but it wont charge and soon as i disconnect the power cable it dies, also the captive buttons at the bottom and microphone don't work... so i ordered new captive buttons, new charging port and the circuit board that contains the microphone etc that was at the bottom of the phone and will try to take the screen off without breaking it and fit them tonight... does anyone know will this fix the charging issue? do i need to replace the battery? or anything else? or am i wasting my money trying to fix my beloved OP3?
all advice gratefully received.
Kind Regards
Mark

So I have now replaced the charging port and soft keys and it still won't charge, I'm guessing that means something in the main board is dead. So sadly I guess I now have to give up.

When you encounter water damage, shut off the phone dry it as much as you can, use a hair dryer and cloth.
And then dump the phone into uncooked rice for a couple of days. That will suck all the moisture out.
Trying to start the device or trying to charge it will send current down the board and the elements, if any of them are covered by water, they're bound to short-circuit and die.
Remember this with any electronic device henceforth.
Sorry about your loss.
