My nokia was damaged by water. now as I plug it it just blinks ones vibrates, and it repeats all the time in period of couple seconds. As I think battery is dead, I removed and connected 3.7v to the pins on motherboard, phone is doing somthing like booting or smht. but screen is not working as it is damaged by water too.
So what can you recomend me what to do, how do you think phone is booting or not. do I have to spent money changing the screen? or maybe someone have used working screen and battery to sell?
Hi there,
it is always the wrong way to switch on your phone, after it fell into water...
Because if there got water inside, you'll destroy your phone by switching it on, as you are causing "short circuits" on the motherboard.
The only thing you can do now , is selling i would say.
If you have a water damage on your phone, do NOT switch it on! It's best to totally disassemble your phone, and remove the battery!!
The you should dry all parts of the phone (might take a couple of days)...

I have a Defy+ running CM9...somehow a bit of water managed to trickle in...not booting.
when I put on charge it starts...4% battery...and reboots and reboots and reboots...any way to save it? Nothing works without connecting to wall charger...even after connecting it boots up and shuts down.
will getting a new battery fix it...?

is there any proof of water damage?
remove the battery and check if the water dot has changed color or not.
if not the you are lucky take it to service centre .
but before goind place it in a jar full of uncooked rice for a day or so.
and then try starting it again.
If the service cetre in ur city is an outsourced one then they might easily replace whole of the motherboard .
The water dot has red dots...it isn't fully red... :s
btw...my phone came back to life automatically...no issues...but that water dot is worrying me...
are both the dots red(one near sim card and other on battery)
if both then u might lose the warranty.
but is one then you can make an excuse that you were blowing mouth air on the dot and some part of it turned red..
Hi everyone, I need your help.
Sea water entered in my Lg G3 while it was in my pocket and a big sea wave hit me while walking on the sea side. When I opened it I found some salt on the motherboard. The device went dead when I install the battery I see the Lg logo for 1 second and disappears. After that the notification led goes green and blue spontanuously. I took it to a repair shop he told me motherboard is gone and they don't have it.
Now my issue is if it's really gone why I can see Lg logo when I install the battery even for 1 second? In addition if this is true , from where I can get a motherboard? because the cost in the dealer is around
U$ 200.
Please help me
I had same problem with my old phone.
I suppose that you made it completely dry before you tried to turn it on.
Leave phone for few hours or try to use something to be sure its completely dry.
After that try to change battery. If something die, i think that battery will be the first. Try to use other battery and try to turn it on while is on charger.
When this happen to me, battery just gone crazy. After few circles of charging, its back to normal.
Maybe there is some residue of sea water (salt) on the PCB.
You could try to flush and clean the device with destilled water, then letting it dry completely with back cover off. It may take days for all the water rests to disappear.
If you are lucky it could still be alive....
Forgot to say that I tried another battery and still same result 1 second of logo lg then it turns off. Also this happened 45 days back and when I opened it myself I found sea salt on the board.
Hello everyone.
The first thing I want to do is to apologize for any grammatical errors that I will do during the writing of this article. English is not my native language so I'm hopeing you will forgive it to me.
On my HTC M8 I had water damage. After the damage it was cleaned with alcohol. Cell phone was turned on but touch screen was not responding. I replaced and touch chip on the motherboard without success. Afther that I bought a new screen. Without success. Now I bought a new motherboar, with which the phone works fine, but only while it is connected to the micro USB.
When the battery is charged external, afther a few minutes the mobile phone say that it is 100% full, but after a few minutes battery starts to drain dramatically. Even when the phone is connected to the charger, in the options menu it's showing that the battery is discharging. I tried to replace the battery, but the same thin happened..
When I switched off cell phone and connect it to the charger, orange LED for a few seconds is a solid, and then show the battery warning and start blinking.
I noticed thaton the replacement board very quickly warmed processor and power chip. I also noticed that it's missing a protective aluminum cover.
Can the lack of this aluminum cover cause overheating problem power chip?
What would you recommend me to do?
I suggest you trade in your phone for a new one, because once these things get water damage (of any sort) they always start to show many sort of problems. And...yes, the aluminium cover is very important, because since the cover is metal, once it is sealed, there is always the chance that the peeled wires can touch that cover and make some sort of shortage.
I dropped my LG G4 (VS982) the other day and the battery flew out. Nothing worse then i have done before. But now it wont boot up, Wont charge, No display on screen and my PC dosent recognize it. Its literally a hard brick now. Ive torn it apart and there is no obvious physical damage. Does anyone have any idea what I can do to test or troubleshoot or what problems could be?? I miss my G4 already!
sounds like a 'power' issue. maybe when you dropped your phone one of the battery leads came disconnected from the board thats why it will not power on or charge. Im an electrical field engineer by day.
My 4yo son helpfully dropped my phone down the toilet after he decided to borrow it to watch youtube. it blanked out and was totally dead. i left it in rice for 5 days (pre ordered the Mate 20 Pro)
Amazingly when i plug it into a charger it will now power on!!! but it wont charge and soon as i disconnect the power cable it dies, also the captive buttons at the bottom and microphone don't work... so i ordered new captive buttons, new charging port and the circuit board that contains the microphone etc that was at the bottom of the phone and will try to take the screen off without breaking it and fit them tonight... does anyone know will this fix the charging issue? do i need to replace the battery? or anything else? or am i wasting my money trying to fix my beloved OP3?
all advice gratefully received.
Kind Regards
Mark

So I have now replaced the charging port and soft keys and it still won't charge, I'm guessing that means something in the main board is dead. So sadly I guess I now have to give up.

When you encounter water damage, shut off the phone dry it as much as you can, use a hair dryer and cloth.
And then dump the phone into uncooked rice for a couple of days. That will suck all the moisture out.
Trying to start the device or trying to charge it will send current down the board and the elements, if any of them are covered by water, they're bound to short-circuit and die.
Remember this with any electronic device henceforth.
Sorry about your loss.
