Vzw Samsung Note 4 (no root)
Any way to automatically turn on and off Ultra Low Power Setting at a specific time?
ie tasker
Pretty sure you will need root. To stimulate screen taps for that. But I'm not a Tasker pro.

Does anyone have any power saving tips for WM6, specifically using the Exalibur model.
All I've done was lower the display and backlight timeout settings. And whenever I'm not using it, I've placed it in locked mode.
I remember with my old PDA in Windows Mobile 2002, that when I pressed the off button, it would simply hibernate or go into standby showing the home screen immediately when I turned it on. It seems that locking is the only way for quick access.
So if anyone has any other power management tips, I'd appreciated them.
Thanks
Disable OBEX if it's on, ensure wi-fi is disabled if not in use, & if you over clocked use a program that lowers the cpu cycles when the display is dim or off.
hello, what is OBEX? what program work fine for underclock the S620?
thanks
I use tornado power control & OMAP Clock. OBEX is file transfer over bluetooth. The Dash calls it Beam, not Beam as in Infrared since the Dash doesn't have IR.
also dim your LED to blik only when notification pending, use program DoNotForget
Hi,
I did some searches in Google but can't find an answer. Perhaps it is the keywords that I use which are crap... anyway, I am wondering if there is a way to disable the softkey's (navi bar?) backlight.
Let me explain what I want to do. I want to use Kindle on my Galaxy Nexus. One thing I don't like about this app is the fact that it doesn't disable the softkey's backlight and therefore at night in complete darkness the three soft buttons at the bottom are very bright. In my previous phones, I can use Tasker and Screen Filter to automatically turn off the softkey's backlight. However, with the Galaxy Nexus, Screen Filter can't do it.
Note that when I say "turn off the softkeys' backlight", I am refering to the feature in which the Galaxy Nexus allows the three buttons to be changed to 3 "dots" - a good example is the desktop clock feature.
I am sure this can be done (even without root) because Moon+ Reader turns off the softkeys' backlight on my Galaxy Nexus without any issue.
Your help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

With my Note 2, 3, and 4DE there is a setting to adjust the amount of time the two front key lights stay on. I usually have them set for 6 seconds, and sometimes have them set for Always on. But when I was trying out a Note 7 a few days ago in a Verizon store, the two key lights were turning off in about a second. I looked in the Settings Menu under Display (where it should be) and didn't see it listed. I hope this was just an oversight on my part and there is a way to adjust the key light time.
My S7 Edge didn't have those settings either, but I used this app without any issues.

I originally used it to keep the lights always on when I was applying a screen protector, but it still works for different durations. Should still work with the Note 7, but if you want to be sure you can try it out in a store to be 100% sure.

The Notes 5 is the same. This is what I use to adjust how long the button lights stay on.

Wow, that is pretty stupid that Samsung took away that user setting. I didn't check to see if the Note 7 had different time values for the display (I use 2 min), but I'm surs that would still be there.
I just tried this app on my Note 4 and worked . Was able to increase the key lights from 6 sec to 10 seconds. Wish I would of know about it sooner....or a Developer include it in with their Custom ROM.
Can anyone tell me if there is a built-in "night mode" on the 2XL? Coming from an S7 Edge there was an option in the settings that at a preset time the always on display would switch to a very minimal display that was only across one edge of the screen, it made for a nice alarm clock without being too bright overnight, then at a preset time it would revert to its normal settings of a large clock, displaying notifications, calendar etc.
I know I could use something like Alarm Clock Plus, but am trying to avoid having to install an app if there is built in functionality to do the same thing.
Thanks.
no
Short and sweet. Thanks. There are definitely a couple things Google could learn from Samsung on just small things like that though.
yep. but in the dark the ambient display is not bright so dont be afraid of burning your eyes.
The closest thing I have to what you are asking is using Tasker to turn off AOD when DND is enabled.
I have a profile to enable DND overnight, which in turn disables AOD.

That's not a bad idea, I paid for Tasker long ago (run it on my Nexus 7 in the car) so it would just be a case of setting it up on the Pixel.
There is a clock screensaver for when phone is plugged. I don't use always on display but want to be able to see clock without touching phone. You can adjust tue brightness of it via nightmode switch. Under display - screensaver h clock ...

In case you were wanting to actually implement this, I double checked how I did it, and it's with the paid plugin "AutoTools".
I turn the AOD on when I'm connected to BT in my car since it's on a mount and also off at 10pm. If the task runs when your screen is off you do need to turn your screen on for it to take effect. So I check if my screen is off. If it is I have it turn on and off briefly.
trigger always on using tasker auto tools
New Task
Plugin -> Autotools -> Secure Settings
Configure
Custom Setting
Setting Type = "Secure"
Name = "doze_always_on"
Input Type = "Int"
Value = "0" OFF/ "1" ON
I've done some testing and I can't tell if it even works...not sure if a reboot is required or what each time...maybe someone else can add to this.
The below article might be fine for a stock Rom, but doesn't seem to work on Nitrogen with a kernel/magisk.
You need to have ambient brightness turned on though, otherwise, the default values are used and these overrides don't work.

If you hit the battery saver before you go to bed that will deactivate always on.
Turn battery saver off in the morning and always on will be back on.
Should solve your problem!
Or just flip the screen over. That deactivates it as well.

I just lay a business card over the sensors, since my thin case has no lip!
Hi guys. I want to buy s20 and I have a question - can you set time for automatic turning on if the phone has been turned off? I own OnePlus 7t and I find this option very helpful in case if someone will steal my phone and turn it off so it can't be tracked. Or maybe there is an app that can do that or bixby routine?
