Title says it. Anyone else having problems with power saving mode automatically shutting off? The phone performs well and I'm interested in conserving power.
Any suggestions for a fix?
Same here. ..
got any fix yet?
I don't know what was going on. The problem stopped on my phone. Maybe at time of latest update, but not sure.

This has been bugging me for a while and im not sure if its a universal issue or just me,
When they updated the HOX from 4.0.3 to 4.1.1 they introduced the power saving mode, which one of the features involves shutting down the 3G radio when the screen is off and turning it on periodically to for email/whatsapp/facebook/whatever...
So all push notification only work periodically every X minutes instead of being almost instantaneous.
No problem, we turn off power saving mode and its suppose to be disable leaving the 3G radio operational at all times, no ?
Well... no. apparently its a problem im encountering in all sense roms, they all have the same issue, the 3G power saving is still on even if i turn off power saving mode,
Anyone else experiences this ?
If I remember correctly, basically our phones have 3 states: awake/active (your using it), a sort of light sleep, and after some time of not using sleep. I believe that when it goes to sleep the phone will not reconnect to data to update unless the app tells the phones to come out of the 3rd stage, sleep. So really it all depends on how often you have your apps set to update. If you believe you're apps are set correctly and your phone should be waking to update, you can get an app from the play store like gsam and you will want to look for anything that says wake locks. An app that wake locks is an app that is bringing your phone out of sleep to update and so forth. I would start with those things to see if your apps are behaving as they should.
Once or twice a week when I press the power button, the device doesn't turn on. I then have to hold the power button for several seconds to reboot it. I'm not sure where I read it, but somebody mentioned that it could be related to the auto brightness setting. Unfortunately setting the brightness to a fixed level did not solve this issue. Any other suggestions?
I'm on stock 4.3 (JSS15R)
I'm not trying to be a prick here, this question is just me not knowing all the facts.
When you power the device back up, how much battery does it have left? Is there an app that's draining your battery in the background?
If it's not the battery running out, have you tried a factory reset?

With 'turn on' I mean getting it out of standby mode. I don't power off the device completely.
The battery percentage is not the problem. It sometimes happens with almost full battery. There doesn't seem to be a draining application.
I haven't tried a factory reset yet. I want to try that if nothing else helps.

Hmm. To be honest, I'm not sure what it could be. Barring a hardware issue, I would lean towards trying a factory reset.
My phone was around 40% charged and I turned it off by the on/off button. It then failed to turn back on and even when I connect a charger now there is no charging light, nor can I turn it on by the button whilst connected to the charger.
I had installed a new firmware yesterday, Lollipop 5, it's been running great and I was still configuring it when this happened.
Please can anyone help with this and give me any ideas what to do.
Thanks in advance.

The standard routine is to plug the phone into the wall charger
wait 15 min, then hold volume up and the power button for around 10 seconds. this is the equivalent of a battery pull. the phone should boot up now
Thanks for that,I'll give it a go and let you know how I get on.
What causes this issue with the phone. Going from around 40% to absolutely dead just by turning it off? It's a very strange thing.
Worked fine, all back up and running now.
Cheers.
Hi guys
I received Lollipop yesterday via OTA and power saving mode is disappointing me. In kitkat I used to put my phone always in power saving mode and it resulted in great battery life. The point was that though my M8 was in power saving mode, it could received messageg from viber, whatsapp while screen was off
Now in lollipop when I put my m8 in power saving mode, it can not receive messages (viber,whatsapp,...) and every body thinks I am offline.
It is really disappointing. I want power saving to be like kitkat times. any suggestion?
I want to hear from you guys

Are you using extreme power saving mode? That shuts off your data.

Hi
exactly the same behaviour on my SM-N910F (note 4)
really wondering if I'm not going back to kit kat (android updates going the same direction as the windows updates?!)
Hi,
I found the answer. The trick is that to go to power saver in sense 6 and untick the check box related to the "Data connection".
Thank you every body
Hello, so I have one a bit strange problem with my Galaxy Note II. The problem is that the phone shuts down by itself randomly. You can't do anything on it unless you restart it by long pressing power button or pull out the battery. The interesting part is that if I have notification I havn't checked my LED keeps blinking even in that "power off" state. So I don't think its actually shutting down. Can anyone relate and help me what is the reason my phone is doing this? I forget to mention I noticed some battery drops in the default battery monitor when this "shut downs" occur. Can it be battery related? Also I'm running stock Android 4.4.2 and no root or what so ever.
