[Q] Hard Bricked S I I I - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

Greetings,
As you can already tell from the listing on this post, I have hard bricked my S III,
I accidently hard bricked my SIII, by mistaking flashing a international rom, In the description of the rom it even stated it WAS
for my model of phone. They Lied....
Anyways, I done some research and came across a few ways of debricking it, None of which seem to be working. Although I am able to
Get a red charge light on my phone when I plug it into my computer with the battery out. Also, I am unable to Boot into Recovery or Download Mode.
Can you please help me.

Yes, I am having problems finding the correct JTag jig. I have looked for ones that are for Galaxy S III's but none seem to be working with the SPH-L710. And has anyone actually used a JTag for unbricking this.

I looked on the internet and found that when you look up Jtag , you are given given results for what looks like a jig for (a given phone), and that it will let your phone boot into download mode.
Is that what you are talking about being doubtful. And I do thank you for your responses.
I have also tried using a debrick Img file and installing it to my 16gig sd card, and gone down that route, but that did not work, which is why I am considering spending the money on a Jtag Jig...

[Q] Help: qualcomm hd-usb qdloader 9008

Today I though let's get cm9 on my nice nitro.
What did I do:
Rooted and installed cwm bytes version
installed custom 0.3 of kernelpanic
Today I installed cmw from the market and installed the new version.
Then I installed the cm9 but it stated that the sd card was not mounted (sdcard pointer wasn't right or something).
I tried all kind of things, but cmw would not work.
So I tried to install cwm bytes version again
[HOW TO]Install ClockworkMod Recovery The easy way
and did: dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p6 of=/sdcard/mmcblk0p6.backup bs=4096 and dd if=/sdcard/_ExternalSD/recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p6 bs=4096
Then I did a restart
Nothing happened, nothing at all
No screen no download mode
When I connected it to the pc, it has some usb drivers:
qualcomm hs-usb qdloader 9008
Now what?
I am from holland, so getting it back to the US is not a good option, I also don't have an email address from the seller (ebay). I already send him an ebay message, but I don't know if he is still member or something (2 months ago I bought it).
Does someone has a solution?
The name of the windows driver is Qualcomm HS-USB Qdloader 9008
Oh ****, it looks like you flashed CWM to the wrong partition. Um, I think you're going to have to try to unbrick using a .kdz, possibly the SU640 one. My unbricking guide is out of date (my fault, but real life has kept me busy), but all the information you will need is in this thread somewhere. Please read all the posts, particularly ones toward the end of the thread that will tell you how to edit your hosts file and set up a server so that the kdz update tool will let you flash the .kdz file.
Edit, I forgot to mention this will only work if you are able to get into Download Mode. Please confirm if this is the case.

I doubt it. p6 is the SBL (secondary bootloader), I think emergency mode depends on it.
I cannot get into download mode, I only see ethe qualcomm driver in windows, nothing else. No screen, no nothing.
Your situation is not good. Your best bet at this point is probably getting it repaired by LG/AT&T unless aremcee or someone more knowledgeable than myself can help you rescue it somehow. Whoever's post you followed that told you to flash to p6 was horribly, horribly misguided. Unfortunately, as you know now, flashing roms the manual way can be really dangerous if you overwrite the incorrect partition. I'm sorry it ended the way it did for you...
Yeah I think I screwed up... I just wanted to get ICS on the phone, anyway.
How can I repair it? My seller does not respond, is there a possibility that someone else can get it to at&t for repairs? or wouldn't that be possible?
maybe ask someone to pull (dd if=) their sbl p6 and you could try to overwrite whatever is on yours now.
worth a shot, I know on samsung phones if this happens you need a .pit files, which will help repartition. I dont know if LG has a similar option.
what software do I have to use to get the new p6 on the phone, for samsung there is ODIN, but for lg?
See, that's the thing, the closest thing we have to Odin is the KDZ update tool and as far as I know they both kind of have a caveat of needing the emergency/download mode intact. I really don't know if there is any way to rescue your device without physically getting in it and reflashing, which most people are not equipped to do.
adb probably is no go as well huh? or you would see android/LG driver...
if this was another device I may have more ideas, but I have no exp. with LG.
{tell them you just hooked it up to Itunes to sync your playlist....an it went all weird.. hahahah}
Not sure how releveant this is but I think one of the Qualcomm Phone tools may have an option for raw memory read & raw memory write.
For example READ_MEM from address 0x0200000 to 0x0250000 (from a device with a working sbl of course) and dump it to a file.
Then WRITE_MEM and cross your fingers. Very dangerous and would take some research to find the sbl memory address.
A long shot more geared towards the technically inclined.
Is there someone who can make my phone work again? I can pay you for it, otherwise I will sell the phone, broken as it is.
My seller won't respond, so I have nowhere to go. If someone want to help me, you are welcome.

You know, you could always ship it off to LG. I sent them mine after having the EXACT same problem, and they fixed it and it's on its way home right now!
Did you have to pay for this? Do you have the contact info? Thanks.

Don't have to pay, they can't turn it on, so how would they know ? Just go to their website and fill out a warranty support form.

i have the same issue with my lg connect ms 840.
would you mind to share how to unbrick it.
i only have riff box here
tyvm
For the jtags you first need to check if the cpu is supported. If it is, all you have to do is disassemble the device, locate the pins solder up and go for it. Some other model may have same pinout. Just make sure it is same layout, and check if vref and gnd are in the same place. If successful connection is achieve, you just need converted files from box support. Send them full stock rom for your model. If cpu is not supported, it will take longer and will be harder. Get into the forum support of either, medusa and riff. For the OP, see if you can send it to LG but if you can't, someone at forum that lives nearby you could help you. Only solution afaik is jtag.

[Q] A few questions related to Hard Brick and QHSUSB_DLOAD

I am now owner of what may very well be a Hard Bricked Samsung Galaxy S3 with the inability to reach Download Mode and computer not recognizing my handheld. It ll happen't as I unlocked my bootloader to go in fastboot mode, it was then, all over. But of course as desperate as it may look like I've done some researches on Google and some people with different models managed to have some magic done in a situation like mine, but since I didn't own the same device the solutions were of no avail for me. So my question is, is there any sort of trickery to help me come out of this misery? Such as force installing new QHSUSB_DLOAD specifically for a Samsung Galaxy S3 or some battery related magic that could help me reach Download Mode where I could flash a stock rom back in and get back to normal? Any help would be much appreciated.
this just happened to me as well today, not to happy, my heart sank in, did u find any solutions as far as fixing this qhusb thing?
AFAIK there is no fix, same deal on all phones with the same SoC, like the one x. I could be way wrong though and I hope I am. Hope you guys get up and running soon.

Most likely they will say that you voided your warranty so you may have to take it in to a JTAG service.

Any update on this? My phone did this to me last night when updating CWM. I'm about to go to Radio Shack to buy some resisters to see if I can force download mode, like on Captivates.
EDIT: Even though this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TrZUrE5Nqj0) shows that the Jig works with the GS3, I was not successful in putting it into download mode. I was able to with my captivate, just to make sure I was on the correct pins.
Hopefully the AT&T store will just swap it out and leave it at that, since I pay for insurance...I don't want to have to send it away to mobiletechvideos.com for JTAG repair, but will if necessary.

Regardless of where the phone came from the end result is still the same... you guys are hard bricked. The only available solutions to you atm (and trust me on this I hard bricked mine aswell) is
A - Send your phone in for warrenty/insurance, dont worry about everyone saying you cant because of voided warrenty... your bootloader is screwed and they wouldnt be able to tell anything about rooting/cwm etc.
B - if warrenty/insurance is unavailable to you then your only other options are to send it to samsung to get it repaired on your own dime. Or save yourself a bit of money and send it for jtag repair which is what I did. If you live in the states the guy can have your phone back in your hands usually within 4-5 business days.
hi there
i have an SDcard of 4GB i tried on 4 S3 i747M hard bricked phones its worked ....this card let them alive to download mode by pressing volume down key +home key + power. i want to share this image but when ever i connect this card to my PC (windows) its shows (need to format your card)
is there any software so i can make image and share...to help those who hard-bricked their phones.

I reject your reality, and substitute my own! Ah, anyway.. any updates on this? Its been a year or so.. I have the sprint s3, but i believe it had an insecure boot image flashed to it. The emmc boot method has failed me thus far. Not sure if it's because mine is a 32gb and the debrick files for for 16gb '(which shouldn't matter), if the board for my 32gb is affected by a brick bug, or what.. The qpst tool just seems like it's the perfect tool to fix a bad bootloader on any qualcomm phone, but all the guides I've found are for other phones still. I accidentally dd'd an image of my EFS partition to the sbl2 partition. I looked up the international s3 table by mistake

Yes. Download a live linux distro, like knopix or such. Any linux distribution will work, really. Then in a terminal you would do something like
Code:
sudo dd if=/dev/sdX of=debrick-image.img
Where the "X" in "sdX" corresponds to the sdcard you want to copy. After you insert the card, in a terminal do:
Code:
dmesg | tail
and you should be able to see that it is sdb, sdc, sdd, etc. Google the usage of "dd" if you need more info.
Thanks for info i'll try this today

[Q] Hard Bricked T989- Can T999 be done for this phone?

Hi,
I have a T989 that's been hard bricked for some time now. I wasn't interested in sending it out for JTAG because it was just a backup phone and it served its purpose. When it was working, it was a great phone.
Recently I came across a thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2439367) that shows how to unbrick a T999 (T-Mobile Galaxy S3) that shows QHSUSB_DLOAD without JTAG. (QHSUSB_DLOAD shows up in device manager when I plug my phone via usb.)
My question is, could this solution posibly work for the T989?
Thanks in advance.
You'll never know if you don't try... It's already hard bricked. What's the worst that could happen?

it would be great if this worked with our t989, i think i saw this thread on another website somewhere but doubted it too easily, i have 3 of these phones now xD hardbricked one, and on one it will not display anything, i have tried new screens but nothing, i think its the Ribbon cable on the motherboard.

[Q] Accidentally Hard Bricked an S3

I was updating an s3 running cyanogenmod 10.2.1 to 11. I realized that the bootloader needed to be updated long story short i accidentally flashed the i9300 bootloader instead and now my phone is hard bricked. I heard about a method using the sd card to allow the phone to enter boot recovery so i could get into download mode could someone help me to do this?
The only fix that I personally know of is using a jtag service. If there is an sd card fix floating around out there, you'll need to search for it. If you fail, mobiletechvideos.com can help. Expect a week to 10 day turn around time

You are probably referring to the method posted in the thread below ....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2549068
You have nothing to lose in giving it a try. Doubtful if it will work, however, since it is specifically for recovering from a brick caused by flashing an older bootloader after 4.3 upgrade. As BrianRay advised, when you have a brick caused by flashing a different model's bootloader, a JTag operation may be required.

Sadly, no, I don't. You could create one, however, if you know someone who has a similar device running 4.1.2. If you need further instructions on how to do this, you would need to contact the author of the original post. He is the expert there. A JTag may still be your best option, however.
Hey, try to get the phone into a download mode by using at USB jig. You can buy one for 3 bucks from ebay. If that doesnt do it, then you can go to the method of using the debrick image.
Once you exhaust all of these possibilities, then you can try the JTAG. But the Jtag service is expensive too. Good luck.

To get real help from here, you really need to give more information on what went wrong. Specifically, what caused the brick? Were you flashing any firmware? If so, what were you flashing and how?
A J-Tag is the ultimate solution to any bricking problem caused by firmware failure as this forces firmware installation directly to the motherboard so if you say you tried this and it didn't work, I'm afraid it may not be a firmware problem you have.
i plug in my phone deleted all my files ALL aand then flashed firmware of Hiemdall firmware then i got PASS on odin then Galaxy icon popup and then black screen and nothing more.
You said you already tried a jtag service and it didn't work. More than likely its irreparable on that case. Sorry to hear about that....

I hard bricked my galaxy s3 i747 when I flashed a bad modem on 4.4.2. Has anyone been able to successfully unbrick with jtag on 4.4.2?
Not to my knowledge. If a way is found it will be posted in the actual debrick thread. If its not there its not been done yet.
