Mind me asking why you don't want to install XZDualRecovery? Because it works perfectly fine on ZL, and there are both installer and flashable packages specifically for our model. Works for me... Oh, and yes, I am on .283 LB, same as you.

OK, fair enough, I see your point. I personally like choice and flexibility, and having more than one recovery doesn't affect anything negatively, so "bloated" is not the word I would use, but it's just me...

Hi, i recently upgraded my arc LT15i to an arc s LT18i with ICS, all is working well with no problems. I want to install cwm recovery onto my phone as i want to flash more mods. After looking around i see you need cwm recovery in case it all goes wrong. I have installed rom manger from the market place but when i try to flash cwm recovery it asks if i have installed a cwm based recovery manually ( i haven't) i select no and it tells me that until cwm recovery is available, rom manager will not work with LT18i. Can anyone help or advise. I am fairly new to this flashing business so simple terms please.
Thanks
Phil

I'm going mad here, i can't get the se tweak onto my phone, ive been checking other threads for mods and they say to flash in cwm recovery mode but i can't install that either. I'm going round in circles. Can anyone help.

Sorry, but that says it's all about Gingerbread, not ICS. Or does it work also on ICS? I'm upgrading this afternoon, probably, so I would like to know how can I get the CWM with my locked bootloader....

I installed xperia cwm auto installer from market place. Works a treat on lt18i. I've got back ups now and its easy to use. Highly recommended app!!!

but it says its only for stock 2.3 firmware
xperia cwm auto installer works on 4.0.4
make this
[HOW-TO] CWM on ICS
To have CWM on phone,
For locked bootloader, use Xperia Auto Installer. Can be download at market.
For unlocked bootloader, flash custom kernel with CWM like Stock ICS kernel with CWM, ArcKnight and Doomkernel.
You can search custom kernel here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=965
why so difficult? use the cwm installer kit from doomlord works also on ICS 4.0.4

It was designed for 2,3,4
But it works fine on ics. bare in mind that my app installs cwm into the system recovery. And if you have an unlocked.bootloader your better off getting a kernel with cwm. Or getting the stock kernel with cwm put in to the ramdisk
Oh one note the app will break offline charging. I have a fix.in my thread for it tho and as soon as my pc will compile.apps again I'll release a new version on the market.

Hi all,
Just find something...
Downloaded the latest Sony xperia s rom 6.1.A.2.55 installed it than when i tried to root with it failed so got an idea...
Took me a few hours and a lots of trial and error and re flashing to finally get it.
This is what i did to get ROOT.
Step 1, Download my zip and copy on your phone . I only created the zip and the script and used su binary from my saved rom and the supersu apk
Step 2, Download the rom 6.1.A.2.55 (you can google for it)
Step 3, Download and flash Advanced Sock kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1729280 and flash it. Do not reboot into the OS (I don't know if it can cause problem but when i did, my was constantly rebooting.)
Step 4, Start recovery and flash my zip MYSUPUBLIC.zip it will flash the CWM Recovery is well
Step 5, Flash back the Stock 6.1.A.2.55 kernel.sin
Step 6, Reboot and enjoy :victory:
"Sorry for mistakes but i rushing to sleep, i work tomorrow @ 0600 not even bother to set up the phone...:crying:"

Good idea, but nobody bothers to share it.
We can even flash the original kernel then on to the locked bootloader, which would ultimately give a rooted phone in the end (at least in theory).
I could post my vwm backup, but is been modded by now, and a few things i've removed like themes add sony apk's.
And thanks for anyone who's programs i used.

Last when i tried deodexing my droid 2 global i killed poorly droid. :crying: took me 4 hour to get it work again with the latest .629 rom... and rooted.
I know I sound like a noob, but truthfully I am a noob when it comes to Sony Xperia devices, the last Sony device I mod'd was a PSP-3000 series. I guess it has been a while, in the mean time I have had an HTC Inspire 4g (Desire HD/Ace) which when it came to development was AMAZING, and then I had an SGH-i777 (the AT&T non LTE variant of the SGS2) I now have an LT28at. I have rooted it and installed CWM. When attempting to flash a rom I get an error 7 message, not my first time getting these but I can't work out a way around it on this phone. I hope my efforts weren't a waste, but if they still were please tell me.

I cannot get my device into fastboot is the issue now, otherwise I would do that fix.
Bricked it
I attempted to install it by wiping system and then installing the rom, I got the same issue and made the mistake of shutting it off rather than restoring it to my backup. Is there anything I can do? I can't get it into recovery and I don't know why, and I get this error message when trying to flash it with flashtool back to stock. No problem... Ya you gotta be carefull because most of the roms in the dev section require an unlocked bootloader, and there is currentlly no way to unlock the ATT varient of the ion (lt28at). There are some like the Miui port that is locked bootloader friendly though. Make sure you read the roms description and follow instructions EXACTLY maybe read some posts in the thread as well to make sure it is okay to flash on locked bootloader. The cool thing is at least you can flash official ftfs of the other varients when they become available when spectre posts em on that wiki page. (us ATT users will get jellybean waaaaay before ATT gets around to it haha)

Yeah, I'll make sure to keep in track with it. I am starting to get used to this, I just wish that I could have a touch based recovery. I got too used to it.
Today I bought my first smartphone...a brand new Sony xperia z1 compact.
I bought it from Telstra shop(in Australia). I read different topics and I have some questions...
I wonder if (without rooting)I can have the mobile without all the Telstra stuff and apps.
The phone comes with Android 4.3 and In Australia is not aviable the update to Kitkat,is possible change the Australian firmware to an European one without rooting?
I’m a bit confused for what to do...
Thanks in Advance.

If you're debranding the device then it's not tied to a carrier, but you should still be able to update when it's released for the ROM you flash through PC Companion, although Many People just flash an ftf from here when updating.

You could try and make an ftf to reflash if no one has uploaded one but that won't back up your Phone as it is now, you'll need root and CWM for that. Flash an unbranded ftf and never look back.

I guess the OP just wanted a way to have Nandroid backup ability, if something went wrong while using say... xposed modules, or other root apps, or tweaking the build.prop ... so is it possible to get CWM/TWRP on stock ROM and Kernel ?
