Today I bought my first smartphone...a brand new Sony xperia z1 compact.
I bought it from Telstra shop(in Australia). I read different topics and I have some questions...
I wonder if (without rooting)I can have the mobile without all the Telstra stuff and apps.
The phone comes with Android 4.3 and In Australia is not aviable the update to Kitkat,is possible change the Australian firmware to an European one without rooting?
I’m a bit confused for what to do...
Thanks in Advance.

Flash a stock ftf which will debrand the device and update it too. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2631291

If I understood correctly I can't use the Flash tool for Xperia because Sony doesn’t support the D5503.
If I use the Flashtool can I have android 4.3 ver 14.2.A.142(no brand, stock version)?
If yes where I can get it?
Thanks a lot.

Ok...after flashing the mobile with the stock rom I can still get updates from my mobile carrier...if I install the update I will have android with the operator logo and apps?
If yes there is an “official way” (Sony) that allows to get updates without operators stuff?
Thanks for your help.

If you're debranding the device then it's not tied to a carrier, but you should still be able to update when it's released for the ROM you flash through PC Companion, although Many People just flash an ftf from here when updating.

Ok. I have another question (I read the guide you sent to me)...can you suggest me a good (if is possible easy and secure) way to back up my current device...so if I make some mistakes I can get the mobile "brand new".
Thanks.

You could try and make an ftf to reflash if no one has uploaded one but that won't back up your Phone as it is now, you'll need root and CWM for that. Flash an unbranded ftf and never look back.

Depends how Sony views it if something goes wrong, but if stuff like that bothers you, why sign up to a site like xda in the first place.

.69 just addresses legal issues with Gmail, just flash .62, there are practically no differences.
Well, when im on .62 with some kernels.. update center shows me that i have a new update but its again .62 and i dont want to install it because it bricks phones wit unlocked bootloader and i dont want to delete update-center app

Use titanium to back up the update center first, then uninstall it.
I don't really understand why you want to keep it though. If your bootloader is unlocked that app is completely useless anyway.

True Story.. i have deleted it yet with Root Explorer.
Soo yea... I know the update is there, but I still haven't received anything.
Anyone else that hasn't received it yet? (In a legit way not via a rom.)
I'd love to hear soon from you guys.
Edit: Or provide a alternate way to get ICS.

Can I have a little more detail about what you mean, please?
alternate way
there may be different methods you can use
1st. flash the .ftf(ics firmware) file using the flashtool and also the corresponding kernel
search the forum for arc and you will certainly find the firmware file and the procedure....JUST SEARCH FOR IT.:good:
2nd. ANTOTHER method is to unlock the bootloader and feel free to try any rom of your choice(although this voids the warranty :silly
there has been a variety of roms(custom and stock) available for THE ARC.
rest is your choice

No root is needed.
Update / flash again the Firmware over SEUS and then you can create the FTF File...

Sorry, it looks like it's not gonna be possible at this point.
If I undersatnd correctly I need to use Sony PC Companion to download the firmware. Problem is PC Companion refuse to connect to the tablet.
When I connect it, it says "PC Companion needs to be updated". I'm running the last version (2.1).
I can only wait for Sony to release an update.
How does it feel to own one. Does it feel good?

it feels very good, got my z2 today, came from TF201 and it is so much light weighted
but even this firmware doesnt have new media apps which are shown in z2 videos....!!!

For unlocked bootloader;Even though most recoveries are based on cwm , custom ones like philz and twrp has a better GUI and function.
I was thinking about building twrp/philz
I'm not seeing any talk, reference, rumor or even crying over a locked bootloader exploit for the Z2T. Is there something special about it (I know all Xperia's are harder than the average android) or is there just not enough demand? I rooted my Z1C and am pretty happy with the Sony skin as long as it's rooted, but the unrooted skin on my Z2T is pretty hard to live with. Don't want to unlock the bootloader, but may have to...

For the command "dd" you'll have to navigate it to your boot partition which can be found by analysing the files partition, mounts which is present in /proc
Use that and give me the boot.img I'll make a recovery

Hello. I just moved to Z5 premium from N7100. It came with the latest firmware(.224). I read the thread about rooting Z5 premium and I saw something about "DRM keys". They said that the tool used to backup DRM keys called iovyroot is not working on the latest firmware. So, is there any ways to downgrade or should I just wait for the developer to update the tool?

Im also having a problem with downgrading my Z5P (E6853) when I flash with firmware .200 or .170 my phone just goes to endless looping. Flashing back to .244 or the latest version I got no problem. Did I miss any step to downgrade my Z5P. Im currently stuck to this part before I can unlock my bootloader and root my phone. Any help will do. Thanks!

Thats interesting... I had a generic LAM device with .224 installed when i got it. I downgraded using a .200 NCB firmware that i found on xperia firmware website (oddly enough)
Why do you exclude system if you dont mind me asking?
