Xperia Arc ICS update? - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Soo yea... I know the update is there, but I still haven't received anything.
Anyone else that hasn't received it yet? (In a legit way not via a rom.)
I'd love to hear soon from you guys.
Edit: Or provide a alternate way to get ICS.

Can I have a little more detail about what you mean, please?

alternate way
there may be different methods you can use
1st. flash the .ftf(ics firmware) file using the flashtool and also the corresponding kernel
search the forum for arc and you will certainly find the firmware file and the procedure....JUST SEARCH FOR IT.:good:
2nd. ANTOTHER method is to unlock the bootloader and feel free to try any rom of your choice(although this voids the warranty :silly
there has been a variety of roms(custom and stock) available for THE ARC.
rest is your choice

[Q] Xperia Pro ICS

Hey guys,
I have a Sony Xperia Pro MK16a and I'm waiting for the ICS update. I'm tired of waiting so I searched it up on Google and I came across a thread in a website that says how you can manually update it with Flashtool and the ICS ftf file. Thing is that the file is named "mk16i_4.1.B.0.431_ready to root.rar" and since I have a mk16a, is it safe if I flash it onto my phone? I have a locked bootloader and I'm rooted. Also, if I can update that way, do I need the the ICS kernel, baseband or anything? Any help is greatly appreciated
That ready to root which website you got it ?
Sent From My Sexy Sensation.
Both have different radio/basebands and flashing a MK16i ROM on a MK16a may make you have problems with Phone Calls/Data Usage.
So no, you'll have to wait.
EDIT: Wait no more, ameer's thread has the ROM for MK16a: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1642480
Dunno if this work with OverLo4d/AeonWorld tutorial, but you can root it with Bootloader Unlocked with RootXperia.zip.

He has a xperia pro mk16a from fido his bootloader is locked and cannot be unlocked so hes wondering if its possible to grab a stock ics firmware and flash it whit flashtool...
Since ameers thread has it for the mk16a does he need still a official ics kernel or baseband or anything else ? Or he can straight flash it and ready to go..
Sent From My Sexy Sensation.
Still, there's the testpoint way to unlock bootloader, but inexperienced users (like myself) won't be able to do it.

I tried researching for the thread but couldn't find it.
I know you can pay someone with the correct Box or Dongle to unlock it with SETool, but there's a DIY thread with the use of S1Tool that I think it's for free.
Just couldn't find the tutorial, sorry.

The ftf (flashable via flashtool) on my thread includes kernel and baseband. So you do not have to flash them separately.

[Q] stock ICS Xperia Arc

hi,
is there anyway how i can re-install the stock Sony ICS firmware for my Xperia arc LT15i?
first i had CM9, and then i tried to install Ice Bean which went completely wrong, and now i cannot connect to my sd card, to reinstall CM9
it only shows the freeXperia logo, and i can enter the clockworkmod recovery but since i dont have the CM9 rom on the sd card, my phone is useless.
many thanks!

Reflash a stock ftf with the flashtool, found by the power of sight in the guides and stickys.

Well, if you have a card reader, mp3 player, alternate phone or anything with microSD slot, you could always use those as a medium to transfer your rom to the microSD card.
Another workaround is to reflash the stock sony rom via flashtool and the same procedure you used to flash custom roms/kernels

[resolved]How to root stock ROM?

I found Jelly Sandwich too slow so I down graded to this stock ROM. Now when I run the root for scripting I get a bunch of permission denied messages and it doesn't work. How can I root the phone? I can't unlock the boot loader.

According to this thread with a locked boot loader custom kernels can't be flashed. Is it that you can flash stock kernels but not custom ones?
yep. stock kernels you can flash because they're stock - stock ics already uses them. custom ones, you can't.
If you hAve Xperia pro then follow the below link

And if not pro then follow the procedure and use you phone kernel.

As soon as your bootloader is unlocked you can flash any kernel which mostly will have CWM included.

I answered in eXistenZ already (why are you asking this is in different places at once btw, impatient much?), but now I'm on my pc so I can give you a few links. Pc Companion won't be able to install an update on an unlocked bootloader, even if your kernel is stock. You can use EMMA, it's pretty much the same, downloads the latest firmware for your region and installs it (but I think there's no automated backup, so it'll wipe your phone, you need to prepare a backup yourself). You can find EMMA here: http://developer.sonymobile.com/services/flash-tool/. It's possible that EMMA says the latest available firmware is .200 or .211, but try it anyway because it might install .96. I had this when the JB update was being rolled out, EMMA stated the latest firmware was .50 but it installed .200.
If EMMA doesn't install .96, it's possible this update hasn't rolled out in your region yet. I think you better select the firmware yourself... Why don't you just flash DooMLorD's advanced stock kernel for .96 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2302393) and flash the deodexed zip version (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2425192&highlight)? Or if you just want stock, why don't you flash the ftf?

[Q] Info about my first smartphone

Today I bought my first smartphone...a brand new Sony xperia z1 compact.
I bought it from Telstra shop(in Australia). I read different topics and I have some questions...
I wonder if (without rooting)I can have the mobile without all the Telstra stuff and apps.
The phone comes with Android 4.3 and In Australia is not aviable the update to Kitkat,is possible change the Australian firmware to an European one without rooting?
I’m a bit confused for what to do...
Thanks in Advance.

If I understood correctly I can't use the Flash tool for Xperia because Sony doesn’t support the D5503.
If I use the Flashtool can I have android 4.3 ver 14.2.A.142(no brand, stock version)?
If yes where I can get it?
Thanks a lot.

If you're debranding the device then it's not tied to a carrier, but you should still be able to update when it's released for the ROM you flash through PC Companion, although Many People just flash an ftf from here when updating.

You could try and make an ftf to reflash if no one has uploaded one but that won't back up your Phone as it is now, you'll need root and CWM for that. Flash an unbranded ftf and never look back.
