[Q] stock ICS Xperia Arc - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi,
is there anyway how i can re-install the stock Sony ICS firmware for my Xperia arc LT15i?
first i had CM9, and then i tried to install Ice Bean which went completely wrong, and now i cannot connect to my sd card, to reinstall CM9
it only shows the freeXperia logo, and i can enter the clockworkmod recovery but since i dont have the CM9 rom on the sd card, my phone is useless.
many thanks!

Well, if you have a card reader, mp3 player, alternate phone or anything with microSD slot, you could always use those as a medium to transfer your rom to the microSD card.
Another workaround is to reflash the stock sony rom via flashtool and the same procedure you used to flash custom roms/kernels

ps i am new to cm roms(or any other custom roms)
EDIT: i've recently discovered that it is not rebooting the device but going in to recovery to make a backup that formats the memory card.

Epic Failure while trying to flash/root my ARC ICS 4.0.4

So today after watching tutorial videos and reading about it I finally made my mind and decided to flash/root my xperia arc. The build no of my stock was .431 now what I did was download the '.431 ready to root ftf' and flashed my phone, now when I tried to root it it gave me several errors mkdir failed for tmp, File exists and rm failed for *, No such file or directory and to make thing worse the memory card messed up and I had to format it and lost all the data. Now I've recovered the phone using pc companion but I failed very badly
I have no idea what exactly did I do wrong?

Read the stickys, and the individual threads for instructions.
Go to setting after flash the ready to root 4.0.3. Click at xperia. Click connectivity. Click USB connection mode. Choose MSC. The default is MTP if i not mistaken. Then root your phone and flash back 4.0.4 kernel.
This method i using when i root my phone last week. Before that it was giving me so many error.
Im on LOCKED BOOTLOADER while doing that

Yes, after unlocking the bootloader flash a kernel, and then install a custom rom that's pre-rooted. Much easier way if you don't mind not sticking with stock.

Normally I use the Arcknight kernel (Get version 3.5.1 or 3.3 because 3.6 is broken), but since Sony released the new .587 build I'm sticking with this kernel for now.
Now with Roms I suggest you go with this one its really good .
Okay I just rooted it sucessfully but I kept the bootloader locked.
How do I flash Arcknight 3.5.4 on my locked bootloader?

If you're going to root then you might as well unlock the BL. If IceBean needs a custom kernel then you can't use it, if not follow the instructions.

Xperia Arc ICS update?

Soo yea... I know the update is there, but I still haven't received anything.
Anyone else that hasn't received it yet? (In a legit way not via a rom.)
I'd love to hear soon from you guys.

there may be different methods you can use
1st. flash the .ftf(ics firmware) file using the flashtool and also the corresponding kernel
search the forum for arc and you will certainly find the firmware file and the procedure....JUST SEARCH FOR IT.:good:
2nd. ANTOTHER method is to unlock the bootloader and feel free to try any rom of your choice(although this voids the warranty :silly
there has been a variety of roms(custom and stock) available for THE ARC.
rest is your choice

According to this thread with a locked boot loader custom kernels can't be flashed. Is it that you can flash stock kernels but not custom ones?
yep. stock kernels you can flash because they're stock - stock ics already uses them. custom ones, you can't.
If you hAve Xperia pro then follow the below link

[Q] [Help!] Stuck on sony logo and cannot boot into CWM

I couldn't find any threads that are helpful to me.. so i had to post a new one.
I have a Xperia arc with lock bootloader. I flashed the lt18i 4.1.B.0.587 one day and installed Xperia Ultimate HD. I decided to go back to stock rom because UHD didn't have the features I expected.. so i flashed the lt18i ftf again via flashtool.i rooted it and installed CWM. Everything works fine.
Then i tried to restore a backup that was made before i flashed lt18i firmware.( my phone was on lt15i 0.587 stock rom at that time)
I tried to restore it on LT18i firmware to have more free space and it actually succeeded. But when i reboot it to homescreen it's just keep saying "keypad force close". i thought it was because the backup was based on lt15i firmware and it's not compatible with 18i firmware...
so i flashed lt15i .587 firmware but i exclude system because i still wanted to have 420MB space and i thought i should do it in this way ( i didn't know if it works or not) unfortunately, i was wrong and the phone stuck on sony logo.
the story hasn't ended. I flashed the LT15i .587 firmware again and this time the phone booted successfully. I rooted and install CWM as i did before.. i rebooted my phone and when sony logo appeared i kept on pressing volume down key but it couldn't get into CWM and was stuck on sony logo.I had to pull out the battery . After that i booted my phone again without trying to get into CWM and it succeeded. So basically everything works fine except stuck on sony logo when i try to boot in CWM.
I need CWM for installing good mods and backup and all kinds of stuff but i couldn't work it out and couldn't find a thread about it. I don't wanna unlock bootloader as well. Please help !!
p.s sorry for bad English and the story seems too long and a bit confusing... i just wanna make it more detailed...
Dude, at the aame time youre flashing kernel. Thats the issue. Just flash lt18 ftf and stick with it. It should work fine. Dont revert back to a lt15 backup, because of kernel incompability.

This is really a strange problem indeed! I had the same issue on LB! But mine dint go to CWM and booted directly into device! I tried all sorts of solutions but in vain! At last, I just flashed entirely from the beginning.
1. FTF (Format everything)
2. Root
3. Recovery
And everything is still fine after that!

But if i press the volume down button repeatedly when sony logo appears, blue light turns on...the screen gets brighter, and then blue light disappears, and just stuck on it.
