No root is needed.
Update / flash again the Firmware over SEUS and then you can create the FTF File...

Sorry, it looks like it's not gonna be possible at this point.
If I undersatnd correctly I need to use Sony PC Companion to download the firmware. Problem is PC Companion refuse to connect to the tablet.
When I connect it, it says "PC Companion needs to be updated". I'm running the last version (2.1).
I can only wait for Sony to release an update.

How does it feel to own one. Does it feel good?

it feels very good, got my z2 today, came from TF201 and it is so much light weighted

but even this firmware doesnt have new media apps which are shown in z2 videos....!!!

For unlocked bootloader;Even though most recoveries are based on cwm , custom ones like philz and twrp has a better GUI and function.
I was thinking about building twrp/philz

I'm not seeing any talk, reference, rumor or even crying over a locked bootloader exploit for the Z2T. Is there something special about it (I know all Xperia's are harder than the average android) or is there just not enough demand? I rooted my Z1C and am pretty happy with the Sony skin as long as it's rooted, but the unrooted skin on my Z2T is pretty hard to live with. Don't want to unlock the bootloader, but may have to...

For the command "dd" you'll have to navigate it to your boot partition which can be found by analysing the files partition, mounts which is present in /proc
Use that and give me the boot.img I'll make a recovery

[Q] I just kill my Z1 Compact

Hey guys!
I just bought my Z1 Compact two days ago and gonna love it,and today i'm spending all day long
just to find out how to root it.I found a tutorial on this forum how to do it,since this is my very first rooting i'm
pretty much confuse, right now my phone is jammed and keep booting on and sometime "Sony" logo
appeared for so long until i turning off my phone "Volume Up+Power" since the "Power" button won't work properly.
I think i have delete whole android system file and i don't make any backup.
Can i get my phone run as normally back?
I need help.

can you post the url of this tut?!
The solution will probably be to flash a stock FTF with Flashtool, but this is the Xperia Z section, so your thread shouldn't really be here.
You should ask in the correct forum for your device - Xperia Z1 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting.

what have you done to make it work?
I download this TFT file. It's a android jelly bean for my Z1c.
Code:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2615874
and flash it using Flashtool
Code:
http://www.flashtool.net/download.php
So after finish flashing in order to get my phone rooted i download CWM
to unlock my bootloader.
Code:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2620794
After bootloader is unlocked i'm installing supersu to get rooted.
Code:
http://download.chainfire.eu/supersu
And then i do a simple backup using this method
Code:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2292598
---
Before this i thought i have delete my whole system but i was wrong
because i unlock my bootloader using fastboot
and download false version of CWM (14.3.A.0.681) since
my current android version is 14.2.A.1.114.So it does not fits
together.
@ kingvortex nice to see you here :good:

[Q] Info about my first smartphone

Today I bought my first smartphone...a brand new Sony xperia z1 compact.
I bought it from Telstra shop(in Australia). I read different topics and I have some questions...
I wonder if (without rooting)I can have the mobile without all the Telstra stuff and apps.
The phone comes with Android 4.3 and In Australia is not aviable the update to Kitkat,is possible change the Australian firmware to an European one without rooting?
I’m a bit confused for what to do...
Thanks in Advance.

If I understood correctly I can't use the Flash tool for Xperia because Sony doesn’t support the D5503.
If I use the Flashtool can I have android 4.3 ver 14.2.A.142(no brand, stock version)?
If yes where I can get it?

If you're debranding the device then it's not tied to a carrier, but you should still be able to update when it's released for the ROM you flash through PC Companion, although Many People just flash an ftf from here when updating.

You could try and make an ftf to reflash if no one has uploaded one but that won't back up your Phone as it is now, you'll need root and CWM for that. Flash an unbranded ftf and never look back.

Can I relock bootloader for warranty?

I'm going to get I ze551ml and I'm definitely going to root it as some apps I use require root.
Just in case something happen, like hardware fault, can I return to stock firmware stock recovery and locked bootloader without any trace of being rooted before and get warranty?

The fact that you can't lock the bootloader again is the reason why I haven't unlocked my phone yet.
You can still root the phone without unlocking the bootloader.

Still no.
I believe that locking it won't be possible until Asus releases an official bootloader unlocker.

I have a few questions:
Which tool should i use to flash the raw firmware, Asus flash tool or intel phone flash tool? Other?
What do i get afterflashing the 550 raw, bootloader(fastboot)? recovery? both?
Later i am supposed to flash the 551 zip via adb sideload from recovery? Or the system.img and boot.img via fastboot? Or what?
Do you remember the username of anybody who tested and succeed?
I'm a little bit confused.

Downgrade firmware?

Hello. I just moved to Z5 premium from N7100. It came with the latest firmware(.224). I read the thread about rooting Z5 premium and I saw something about "DRM keys". They said that the tool used to backup DRM keys called iovyroot is not working on the latest firmware. So, is there any ways to downgrade or should I just wait for the developer to update the tool?

Magisk way of rooting - how to get boot.img?

As some of you certainly know, Magisk manager has capability of rooting system.
The needed thing is kernel image, boot.img, very the same which seats in the device.
If the stock ROM was available to download then the kernel image would be possible to obtain by pulling it out from the ROM file (preferably zip).
So where to get the stock ROM file, please?

I'm thinking about the LG tablet I had. No root for it so someone did the Magisk thing also. Tablet was easily unlocked allowing us to put the image in place.
For the Q7, once a boot image is modified how would you get it in place on a running ROM? Far as I know the device is still locked down.

Why haven't you managed to extract boot.img? What were the errors like?

Sorry, not gonna kick a dead horse.
Even if the boot img could be modified with magisk, there still is no way to install to device without unlocked bootloader.
And have you refferred to this method ?
What do you think of these instructions:
https://www.techdroidtips.com/lg-q7-2018-unlock-bootloader/
especially this:
In conclusion, Android versions later than lollipop come with an option of OEM Unlock in the developer options. So, its quite easy to unlock the bootloader on any latest smartphone devices. And Still, some of the smartphones may not come with this option. Hence, in order to unlock the bootloader, you need to manually do it via PC.

LG Q7+ is not on the list of supported devices from LG.
And mine is LM-Q610.EMW, it isn't "plus", so has it a potential?

Not on the list
However this list is extremely scarce. It seems something is wrong with it.
This is why wanted to try. The first obstacle is it is impossible to reboot into bootloader (which is needed to obtain device ID). When the command "adb reboot bootloader" is executed then the phone simply reboots into system again. (Attention: when "adb reboot recovery" is executed then it does Factory Reset!)
How to make it boot into bootloader? Is there any keys combination for it?
