Hi, i recently upgraded my arc LT15i to an arc s LT18i with ICS, all is working well with no problems. I want to install cwm recovery onto my phone as i want to flash more mods. After looking around i see you need cwm recovery in case it all goes wrong. I have installed rom manger from the market place but when i try to flash cwm recovery it asks if i have installed a cwm based recovery manually ( i haven't) i select no and it tells me that until cwm recovery is available, rom manager will not work with LT18i. Can anyone help or advise. I am fairly new to this flashing business so simple terms please.
Thanks
Phil

I'm going mad here, i can't get the se tweak onto my phone, ive been checking other threads for mods and they say to flash in cwm recovery mode but i can't install that either. I'm going round in circles. Can anyone help.

Sorry, but that says it's all about Gingerbread, not ICS. Or does it work also on ICS? I'm upgrading this afternoon, probably, so I would like to know how can I get the CWM with my locked bootloader....
Thks
I installed xperia cwm auto installer from market place. Works a treat on lt18i. I've got back ups now and its easy to use. Highly recommended app!!!

but it says its only for stock 2.3 firmware
xperia cwm auto installer works on 4.0.4
make this
[HOW-TO] CWM on ICS
To have CWM on phone,
For locked bootloader, use Xperia Auto Installer. Can be download at market.
For unlocked bootloader, flash custom kernel with CWM like Stock ICS kernel with CWM, ArcKnight and Doomkernel.
You can search custom kernel here

why so difficult? use the cwm installer kit from doomlord works also on ICS 4.0.4

But it works fine on ics. bare in mind that my app installs cwm into the system recovery. And if you have an unlocked.bootloader your better off getting a kernel with cwm. Or getting the stock kernel with cwm put in to the ramdisk
Oh one note the app will break offline charging. I have a fix.in my thread for it tho and as soon as my pc will compile.apps again I'll release a new version on the market.

Hey,
I have just installed the official ICS todays since its release for UK yesterday. I have now rooted it with DoomLords "android emulator" hack thing. I have also now removed a bunch of system apps which i dont need. And im just wondering if CWM recovery is available for ICS on the arc s yet? and if so, where can i get it?
If you have unlocked bootloader you can install a kernel with pre-installed cwm. If not, there are plenty apps on the market that can do that for you
By 'do that for you' do you mean install cwm recovery, or alternative apps that are similar to cwm? If the latter, do you have any recommendations for any good alternatives?
Kernels with CWM:
Stock with CWM
ArcKnight
DooMKernel

Dunno about plenty either there are lots of apps that install CWM but there is only 1 as far as i know that works on the ARC.
Kernel CWM is always better than the System version tho.

Root for 4.0.4 Xperia Arc/ Arc S was out a while ago. One must downgrade the kernel, root and then upgrade it.
try to put your drive into flashmode and flash back to a stock rom/kernel and try install the big pack on an GB rom!
First of all, go to this forum and download the LT15i 4.0.4 update for your phone. I suggest Generic Global World.
Flash it using the latest version of Flashtool (v0.8.6.0). Check the No Final Verification box. Welcome to the correct build of ICS for your phone. LOL!
Now you've already downloaded the LT18's 4.0.3 ftf previously. Using Flashtool, just flash the kernel alone of the 4.0.3 build. Make sure you exclude everything else. The 4.0.3 kernel is rootable using the zergrush exploit.
Once that's done, flash back the 4.0.4 kernel. Again making sure to exclude everything else other than the kernel.
And there you go, you have a rooted 4.0.4. After this, go download pvyParts' Xperia CWM Auto-Installer from the market.
That should solve your problem. You should have no issues with CWM after that. (Maybe except a slight offline charging issue. )

Title says it all, I just want a Kernel for ICS with CWM.
Kernels are booted with fastboot. CWM just flashes roms/mods etc.
He wants to install CWM.. As far as I know, only ICS option is Riyal's test kernel which isn't really "done" yet but it has CWM and lets you overclock too. Also tends to reboot phone occasionally, mostly during deep sleep.

Yeah I've heard Riyal is working on Ultima ICS, but I really want to try it but with some tweaks to improve its performance.

Well, now that I have your attention and know that it works.
I imagine it installs the CWM in the Rom and not the Kernel and that if I do a full wipe it will go away, correct?
Also, it works with a button combo or such from the start up or just through a menú when already booted?
Yes and yes. It doesn't touch the kernel.
You can invoke it through the app i.e. boot into recovery or the usual method by pressing back repeatedly when you see the LED light up at the Sony boot screen.

I have a LT18i, Android 4.0.4 with build .431 and it is rooted and has a locked bootloader. I have looked everywhere for a way to install clockworkmod recovery on it without flashing a custom rom or kernel, but it doesn't seem possible. Next, I tried a clockwork based recovery but only found DoomLord's recovery. But it had LT26i or Xperia S listed as the device so I'm not sure if it would work on mine. Will it? If not, is there any other clockwork based recovery I could install?
try the CWM Auto Installer on Google Play
Download pvyParts' Xperia CWM Auto-Installer from the market. That should give you access to CWM.
Do keep in mind that it's been reported that the phone doesn't charge if you switch it off; it tends to bootloop. It works fine if the phone is on though. Pvy will be updating the app shortly.
This works well if you want to take Nandroid backups and (or) flash update.zips.
And if you do plan on flashing custom kernels, you would need to unlock your bootloader. For custom ROMs, you're limited to Stock based ROMs till you do decide to unlock your bootloader.
Cheers!
