6.1.A.2.55 ROOT Possible - Sony Xperia S, Acro S, Ion

Hi all,
Just find something...
Downloaded the latest Sony xperia s rom 6.1.A.2.55 installed it than when i tried to root with it failed so got an idea...
Took me a few hours and a lots of trial and error and re flashing to finally get it.
This is what i did to get ROOT.
Step 1, Download my zip and copy on your phone . I only created the zip and the script and used su binary from my saved rom and the supersu apk
Step 2, Download the rom 6.1.A.2.55 (you can google for it)
Step 3, Download and flash Advanced Sock kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1729280 and flash it. Do not reboot into the OS (I don't know if it can cause problem but when i did, my was constantly rebooting.)
Step 4, Start recovery and flash my zip MYSUPUBLIC.zip it will flash the CWM Recovery is well
Step 5, Flash back the Stock 6.1.A.2.55 kernel.sin
Step 6, Reboot and enjoy :victory:
"Sorry for mistakes but i rushing to sleep, i work tomorrow @ 0600 not even bother to set up the phone...:crying:"

You can always root an unlocked bootloader easily. There are plenty of tuts available already.

Can it root locked bootloder? With same fw.

No

No, you need to be unlocked to flash different or 3rd party custom kernel.
Would like to create my custom kernel, but i always end up no boot state :-o...

Good idea, but nobody bothers to share it.
We can even flash the original kernel then on to the locked bootloader, which would ultimately give a rooted phone in the end (at least in theory).

I could post my vwm backup, but is been modded by now, and a few things i've removed like themes add sony apk's.
And thanks for anyone who's programs i used.

question

my question is do i have to unlock the bootloader to install a custom kernel?? i have the xperia play r800at running the clockwork mod v5.0.0.2 with a recovery installed
Is it the r800x or the r800i. Regardless, the bootloader must be unlocked. The phone version just decides if it is possible or not
Sent from my R800x using XDA
its the r800at so how do i know which roms will work i really dont want to brick it that would suck lol
There are really good roms out there that cannot brick your phone. Anyway if it does brick u can always fix it yourself. The rom totally depends on what u what. Speed, looks, etc.
Sent from my R800x using XDA
You need to take out the battery and look for a "R800_" the blank being a letter like x,i, or c. If you don't want to unlock the bootloader try the darkforest rom
http://darkforestgroup.com/forum/index.php/topic,11307.0.html
The COLA rom is really fast but simplistic and the market is incompatible at this point with google play being released
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1442557
The IT-rom is based upon COLA so it is blazingly fast but inherently has the out of date market.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459456
If wifi doesn't work on any rom, flash the stock wifi modules.

Ah the delightful soft brick. To fix download this http://www.softpedia.com/get/Mobile-Phone-Tools/Sony-Ericsson/Update-Service.shtml and follow the instructions to update given after install.
After following the instructions to "update" your phone; use the zergrush root method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1321582 to re root, reboot, install this apkhttp://www.google.com/m/url?ei=aW1f...kQFjAA&usg=AFQjCNFpwILPy8Rr-eZVSBJ8hrxtAyACAA, and run it to re install CWM.
Your apps should be there but if not:
Reboot into CWM and flash the nandroid I hope you made before doing ANYTHING. If you didn't make a nandroid, restore a titanium backup or start re downloading the apps you had installed.
After your done, backup your apps with titanium backup and make a nandroid backup as well.
Also I'm curious to what rom you tried to flash and the settings you uses when flashing as I might be able to help you flash it correctly.

welll thanx for the info im thinking since im a noob at this i tried to install 3.0.5 darkforest rom but it might have been the wrong one becuz there was a 3.1.0 as well im i wiped sd card before installing rom too i waited about 30 mins for phone to boot but wouldnt boot at all
well darforest 3.0.5 is what i installed but i may have confused it with the 3.1.0 too grrrrrr also you said to take out battery and search R800 well i tried that and it wouldnt work grrr
Make sure you got the darkforest 3.0.5. You can get it OTA here. Also make sure ypu untick the options that say GSM only and also untick the option that says "format /system"
Type this into the dialer: *#06#*
If it comes back with a MEID you have a R800x. If it comes back with a IMED you have a R800i. Also if you are on Verizion in the US then you have a R800x

All of these don't need the unlocked bootloader. COLA and IT-ROM are nandroid backups that must be placed in the folder /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup. The downloaded files need to be extracted into seperate folders. Eg: .../backup/cola6 or .../backup/IT-ROM. The files can be flashed through the recovery option in CWM.
As for darkforest rom, it needs to be downloaded, and the zip file must be put into the root of the sdcard. From there it can be flashed through the option in CWM to select a zip file to flash.
Darkforest rom also uses the AROMA installer (touch screen capible rom installer) which is fantastic because it makes installing and selecting instalation options incredibly easy.
Also what is this wiki? I would love a link to this.

Aroma installer is in the darkforest rom zip. It was that installer wen you flashed it.
Okay the imei means you could unlock your bootloader if you wanted to. It also means you have the r800i.
To flash darkforest rom, download it via darkforest ota (see previous post), move it to the root of the sdcard with astro or es file manager. DO NOT UNZIP! Go into CWM, wipe the cache partition, then find the darkforest rom zip,and flash it. When the installer comes up, UNTICK the option that says "format /system" then press install. After it is finished SAVE THE LOGS. Then try rebooting and tell me what happened

ok kool ill do that now and im glad i have the r800i now i know a lil bit
Yeah us R800x users have to pay to have our bootloader unlocked and the dev has to be on.his computer to do it. Oh well.
Let me know how flashing goes incase something pops up that's bad.
Also the sony ericsson logo that pops up that has the green thing above it is the boot animation. It will be there for like 5 min. It just takes forever on the first boot for some reason.

Thanks, ArcMan09. I have only rooted the Arc and have not installed any other firmware - it still has the existing manufacturer's firmware. I have also not unlocked the bootloader. Will it not accept an "official" update again ?
The updates do some checks on your current system, if it seems modified it will not update. Just do a restore in pcc it will install the latest version on your phone for you.

Just flash 4.1.A.0.562 ftf files with FlashTool.
FlashTool do not require unlocked bootloader.
After that you can root easily.

There is no easy root method at the moment. If you want root then you will need to downgrade the kernel then root then update kernel.
Sent from my LT15i using xda premium
The only easy way is an unlocked bootloader, other you'll either have to use the downgrade or wait for an exploit.

Ok, so I have now rooted following instructions from this thread :
http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/41119
Step 1. Download Flashtool
Step 2. Download the .562 kernel
Step 3. Flash .562 kernel and reboot phone
Step 4. Root using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1601038
Step 5. Download the .431 kernel
Step 6. Flash .431 kernel and reboot phone
I don't see why you need to go check on the talk.sonymobile.com site as those very same instructions have been posted here.
You do realise that everything that happens there is just a rehash of what happens here at XDA. :cyclops:

True...just that I had several links bookmarked on this rooting thing and I followed one of them. Btw, the .562 & .431 kernel links were about 5 MB each, whereas the ones I found on XDA were ~250MB - guess they included the entire stuff...or, I wasn't searching properly here:crying:

Righto...just wondering why you need to download the whole ftf's when kernel flash would do...
Probably because they couldn't find the kernel alone. In that case, the only option would be to download the entire ftf.

[Q] How do i install CWM recovery on arc s running ICS

Hi, i recently upgraded my arc LT15i to an arc s LT18i with ICS, all is working well with no problems. I want to install cwm recovery onto my phone as i want to flash more mods. After looking around i see you need cwm recovery in case it all goes wrong. I have installed rom manger from the market place but when i try to flash cwm recovery it asks if i have installed a cwm based recovery manually ( i haven't) i select no and it tells me that until cwm recovery is available, rom manager will not work with LT18i. Can anyone help or advise. I am fairly new to this flashing business so simple terms please.

But it works fine on ics. bare in mind that my app installs cwm into the system recovery. And if you have an unlocked.bootloader your better off getting a kernel with cwm. Or getting the stock kernel with cwm put in to the ramdisk
Oh one note the app will break offline charging. I have a fix.in my thread for it tho and as soon as my pc will compile.apps again I'll release a new version on the market.

i just use the Unsecure kernel that posted on development to get rooted. The way i unlock bootloader is using the sony official way. I don't think there's testpoint trick on this CPU yet.

A way to root android 4.3

I havent tried this but it could be possible. you need unlocked bootloader for this. update to the new 4.3 update, then flash a custom kernel from 4.1.2(one with cwm), boot into recover mode and click reboot phone. it will say "phone not rooted, root now?" click yes and it shall put SU files in /xbin. flash back to stock 4.3 ernel and then download supersu or superuser from play store to manage root apps - dont need a app like this for root, permission is automatically accepted without this app so you dont nesseserily need it. this worked for my stock 4.1.2 ROM and in theory should work for 4.3. I havent tested it yet but because i havent updated yet but i will test in the next 1-2 hours when i get a chance

I havent tested it yet but because i havent updated yet but i will test in the next 1-2 hours when i get a chance

In ftf thread you have kernel from 4.3 android with cwm... If you are right It should work also on this recovery...
I will check It when i get back to home
