Hi, I cant see my contacts' birthdays in HTC calendar, although I have it ticked in calendars to display... anyone has a clue why?
I noticed that too and here is my workaround. The nice thing is that you now also have the birthdays on your Google Calendar on your PC.
For your Google contacts you can add a seperate calender from Google Calendar:
1. Go to https://www.google.com/calendar/renderOnline?tab=mc
2. -> Settings -> Calendars -> Browse interesting calendars -> More
3. Activate "Contacts birthdays"
For your Facebook friends, you can:
1. Use the Facebook iCal service from fbCal and add the calender to your Google calendar.
Link: www.fbcal.com (I had to use the alternative URL to make it work : www.menuo.ch)
OK, I already figured out the Facebook birthdays through FBcal. But I still have a problem with the birthdays I entered into my contacts in the phone, those I cant sync with either Google or the calendar in the phone.
I've had the Desire for 3 days and spent a lot of this time managing contacts. But it was all fun
Is this phone amazing or what? I just cant put it down...

Just Sync your phone with outlook. Outlook will create reminders for every birthday of your contacts. Then outlook callendar will sync with your phone! Voila!
Damn, I dont use Outlook I hate it. But if it's the only way so be it.
Shouldn't the phone do it automatically? I hope future updates will fix this.

Go to google calendar on your pc,
Choose to view other peoples calenders (like Chinese holidays etc)
Within the option is a add on calender that will sinc your contacts birthdays into the calender.

I'm having a problem with syncing birthdays from my Google Calendar.
The first time I did it I did it exactly the way you said. I synchronized my contacts with Google Contacts including birthdays using EboBirthday Contact Sync and it worked perfectly. I ticked Contacts' birthdays and there they were all in my Google Calendar and in my phone calendar.
The problem now is I've added some more birthdays, I can actually see them in both my Google Contacts and my Google Calendar but they don't sync with my phone calendar. Is there any workaround for that?
Is this possible? Be it on the HTC Calender or Android Calender.
I use GMAIL to store all my contacts, be they phone or email and I also include birthdays. These sync fine to my phone and I can see them as contacts, inc their birthdays, but they don't appear is either Calender.
In Google Calendar (on a PC) go to settings then click "Browse interesting calendars >>" then click on the "More" tab and then subscribe the calendar "Contacts' birthdays and events" it'll show up as another calendar you can activate or deactivate on the phone.
In order to get the birthdays of your contacts in your calendar, you have to login to your google calendar with a browser (best to do it on a computer, don't know if it works on the mobile). In the Settings of Google Calendar, you have to go to the Calendars tab and choose "Add interesting calendars". Then you get a list of different calendars. On the "More" tab, you can select "Birthdays of contacts and calendars". By enabling this, you will get all the birhtdays of your contats in your calendar, also on your phone.
Note: some of the steps may be called a bit different as I have all the menu options of Google Calendar in Dutch.
I have a question related, I'd imagine that the desire would do it automaticaly, but it doesn't seem like it. Is there a was to sync facebook birthdays to google contact birthdays ?
Hi,
Is there a way to check / adjust the Google Calendar sync frequency on the Desire ? My Gmail and contacts are updated when changed, but calendar not directly ..... The checkbox for calendar sync is check, so that is not the problem
I'm interested in finding out how to do this as well...
Do you have Advanced Task Killer running with Auto Kill on? Try turning off auto kill...
Did anybody ever figure out how to do this?
When I delete appointments from my MS Exchange calendar on my PC they are still visible for several hours before being removed from my Desire's calendar.
Are there any alternatives for Facebook for HTC Sense? It seems to be hanging up my auto-sync all the time and I get tired of having to kill it. However, I have a feeling it's the only thing that will work with HTC's People app, since the Facebook app's sync doesn't seem to work.

can't you set it to sync like once a day? I have mine (HTC) syncs just contacts once a day and not sync feed at all. Turned off sync on the Facebook (Android) version.
You are probably have it set to sync freqently for feeds and such.
settings -> accounts & sync -> check it out
hope it helps!

I have it set to every day, but it seems like when it goes to do that sync every day, it never ends. The sync icon will be there all day until I get tired of it, go into Accounts & Sync and cancel the sync. Accounts & Sync doesn't show anything "actively" syncing at the time, but if I remove Facebook for HTC Sense I never have the problem, so it has to be the cause.
Does Facebook (Android) actually work in Accounts & Sync? It shows up in the list when I add an account, but selecting it does nothing.
You can just go on facebook with the browser. The mobile touch and full site work fine.
I use my Outlook calendar and I can see all my events in Outlook on the EVO Calendar. Before 2.2 I could easily make a calendar entry or change one and it would go to my Outlook and be updated in the server as well as show on the EVO. Now when I try to make a calendar entry it says "you have no calendars". Under Calendars it shows my gmail (which I have unchecked) my boss's gmail (also unchecked) and PC Sync (unchecked). If I go to add calendars there are none showing to add and "ok" is greyed out. Yet if I go to my computer and make an entry, it shows up on the EVO calendar. What is going on?
Thanks

If you are using Outlook, I think you need to use the PC sync option. If you are using ActiveSync (didn't seem like you were) then the option should be there. PC Sync is what you use for your outlook calendars on the Evo.

Oh, duh. Sorry. For some reason I assumed this was only if you were connected to your PC. Thanks.
