Hi,
Is there a way to check / adjust the Google Calendar sync frequency on the Desire ? My Gmail and contacts are updated when changed, but calendar not directly ..... The checkbox for calendar sync is check, so that is not the problem
I'm interested in finding out how to do this as well...
Do you have Advanced Task Killer running with Auto Kill on? Try turning off auto kill...
Did anybody ever figure out how to do this?
When I delete appointments from my MS Exchange calendar on my PC they are still visible for several hours before being removed from my Desire's calendar.

I can see how to Manually Refresh the Calendar (Menu --> Refresh in the Calendar App) and Facebook feeds but cannot see the option to Manually Refresh Facebook Contacts and Google Contacts.
Where is this? Thanks
You can do Google contacts via...
Settings -> Accounts & Sync -> Manage Accounts, Google -> Sync Contacts
I'm not sure if you can do Facebook contacts that way too though, as I don't use Facebook.
Thanks but that's how you do it automatically.
You have to mess around enabling and then disabling it again. The Sync button cannot be used unless you enable (tick) it but by doing so, you're also enabling the Automatic Sync. Yes it also works for Facebook Contacts but the same rule applies.
I'm not sure there's an option like the one for the calendar, but if you're concerned about how often this is happening, and want to only allow updates on demand, one option would be to use the "Power Control" widget and you could then control them all with one click on, or off.
Probably not quite what you're after, but the best compromise I can think of at the moment!
Maybe someone else will have a better idea...
Thanks. I'll have a look. What does the half moon with antenna coming out of it button do? On this widget.
That switches the GPS on or off.
Ah. Thanks.
Does anybody know how this sync works? Specifically in terms of how often calendar items are syncronized between the device and the cloud? Frequency doesn't appear to be a user configurable option as far as I can tell.
Items I create/edit on the WP7 device don't appear to be updating on the Hotmail calendar online (The device is configured to sync calendar items).
Thanks!
It's "push" sync, so it means that when a change happens either on the web or on the phone, it's synced immediatly on the other device.
Frequency of sync appears in Hotmail>>Settings>>synchronisation settings. From my understanding, setting this to manual will set it for Hotmail, Contacts and Calendar - just like Exchange ActiveSync in 6.x. [if I am wrong then I guess Contacts and Calendar are not affected by that setting]
To save data, I often have mine set to manual, and sometimes hourly. I noticed that I added a contact and it didn't appear on contacts.live.com for a couple of days. I wasn't fussed though, it did sync eventually.
Heya
How do I get my Facebook birthdays and events to show up in my Calendar ? So far only the weather predictions for a particular date are shown.
Cheers
MJ
I guess you already have facebook set up. Should just be a matter if following this menu path:
Calendar
Menu
More
Calendars
Tick facebook
Then you might have to wait for it to sync.

Yes I have the normal facebook setup (not the HTC sense one).
I don't see the option to add the facebook calendar to my calendar.
Is something missing ?
Ok I just did a quick test and you need to set up facebook for htc sense to get it to work. The standard facebook syncs contacts only.

I would actually like to know the opposite. How do I remove all the facebook birthdays etc from the calendar?
I have turned off facebook sync, google calendar sync, and have cleared all the calendar data and cache. But every time I restart the phone they just appear again. I have no idea how to get them permanently, can anyone give me some advice?
You can import facebook events into google calender. After that you will see them in your phone calender, as well as on the web google calender. Follow this guide http://www.insidefacebook.com/2009/02/15/how-to-sync-facebook-events-with-google-calendar/

Click to collapse
Menu-> more-> calendars, then deselect facebook.

Hi,
Just a quick question really about the calender app. It seems to not want to automatically sync up with my online google calender? It does it the other way round so when I add an event to my phone and I go open the calender online the event is there. But if I add an event on the online calender I have to manually go into the calender and sync it, anyway to get it to do it automatically?
Thanks.
mine randomly forgets to show me any google calendar entries at all. It worked yesterday after clearing the calendar app data, now it's gone.
My wife's SGS2 seems to be plagued with this problem, totally stock build, keeps forgetting all her google calendar entries and I have to clear the calendar data and manually re-sync.
Doesn't happen on my SGS2 running a Cognition 2.3.4 build though.
dear,
i encountered the problem of syncing my exchange calendar to GN google calendar. It always says no exchange calendar. But work prefect for exchange email and contact. I am on 4.01
any idea to resolve this?
thanks
Did you make sure to tick Calender under your account name in Accounts & Sync?
hi,
my exchange calendar did not appear under calendar's available for sync.
then i read this post: http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Google+Mobile/thread?tid=438012b2766cf2c4&hl=en
go into the settings of your exchange account and set sync options to push;
wait for it to sync automatically; after the first autosync your calendar will become
available in calendar options.
now you can set back exchange auto sync interval to whatever value you prefer
( i've set it back to 'never' and calendar now sync's fine when i sync manually )
hope this helps..
wow..the issue is resolved. i exactly do manual update only before.
million thanks!!
