Birthdays in google contacts syncing to calendar? - Desire General

Is this possible? Be it on the HTC Calender or Android Calender.
I use GMAIL to store all my contacts, be they phone or email and I also include birthdays. These sync fine to my phone and I can see them as contacts, inc their birthdays, but they don't appear is either Calender.

In Google Calendar (on a PC) go to settings then click "Browse interesting calendars >>" then click on the "More" tab and then subscribe the calendar "Contacts' birthdays and events" it'll show up as another calendar you can activate or deactivate on the phone.

In order to get the birthdays of your contacts in your calendar, you have to login to your google calendar with a browser (best to do it on a computer, don't know if it works on the mobile). In the Settings of Google Calendar, you have to go to the Calendars tab and choose "Add interesting calendars". Then you get a list of different calendars. On the "More" tab, you can select "Birthdays of contacts and calendars". By enabling this, you will get all the birhtdays of your contats in your calendar, also on your phone.
Note: some of the steps may be called a bit different as I have all the menu options of Google Calendar in Dutch.

I have a question related, I'd imagine that the desire would do it automaticaly, but it doesn't seem like it. Is there a was to sync facebook birthdays to google contact birthdays ?

Contact birthdays in the calendar

Hi, I cant see my contacts' birthdays in HTC calendar, although I have it ticked in calendars to display... anyone has a clue why?
I noticed that too and here is my workaround. The nice thing is that you now also have the birthdays on your Google Calendar on your PC.
For your Google contacts you can add a seperate calender from Google Calendar:
1. Go to https://www.google.com/calendar/renderOnline?tab=mc
2. -> Settings -> Calendars -> Browse interesting calendars -> More
3. Activate "Contacts birthdays"
For your Facebook friends, you can:
1. Use the Facebook iCal service from fbCal and add the calender to your Google calendar.
Link: www.fbcal.com (I had to use the alternative URL to make it work : www.menuo.ch)
OK, I already figured out the Facebook birthdays through FBcal. But I still have a problem with the birthdays I entered into my contacts in the phone, those I cant sync with either Google or the calendar in the phone.
I've had the Desire for 3 days and spent a lot of this time managing contacts. But it was all fun
Is this phone amazing or what? I just cant put it down...

Click to collapse
Just Sync your phone with outlook. Outlook will create reminders for every birthday of your contacts. Then outlook callendar will sync with your phone! Voila!
Damn, I dont use Outlook I hate it. But if it's the only way so be it.
Shouldn't the phone do it automatically? I hope future updates will fix this.

Go to google calendar on your pc,
Choose to view other peoples calenders (like Chinese holidays etc)
Within the option is a add on calender that will sinc your contacts birthdays into the calender.

I'm having a problem with syncing birthdays from my Google Calendar.
The first time I did it I did it exactly the way you said. I synchronized my contacts with Google Contacts including birthdays using EboBirthday Contact Sync and it worked perfectly. I ticked Contacts' birthdays and there they were all in my Google Calendar and in my phone calendar.
The problem now is I've added some more birthdays, I can actually see them in both my Google Contacts and my Google Calendar but they don't sync with my phone calendar. Is there any workaround for that?

Google calendar sync

When creating an entry in the calendar, it does not give me the option to add it to my Google calendar, just pc sync. Any idea on how to fix?
The first step to solve your problem could be to provide more information.
Which ROM? Which calendar app?
do you sync your google calendar with your phone?
settings --> data sync. --> is your gmail acc added and active for sync? does it also sync the right services? (gmail, calendar, contacts,...)
edit:
Oh, and an your calendar app, did you choose google calendar to sync with?

Make sure your Gmail account is active in Account&Sync
Then Open calendar, press menu > More > Calendars and check if your gmail is there. If not add it (add calendar).

Birthdays in Google Now

So yesterday was my bday and my cousin and one of my friends said they saw my birthday appear in Google Now (with a little G+ icon next to it). How can I make it so that my contact's birthdays appear in my Google Now/Calendar automatically, is it on option on G+ or something? Thanks!
In the Google calendar app, select Settings. Scroll down to birthdays. it should work.
You may need to set Google Plus to show birthdays as well.
Also, Joe, you can import birthdays from Facebook into Google calendar.

Contact birthdays option not appearing in stock Calendar app under my Google account

Ok, yesterday I noticed that contact birthdays were not showing in my stock Calendar app, so after checking the settings, I don't have an option under my Google account to select the Birthdays calendar to show. It only appears under the My Phone section.
If I remember correctly, showing birthdays was part of the Google calendars that were selectable in the calendar app options.
Is anyone seeing the same? Thanks for any help given.

Question Outlook/Yahoo entries not showing in Google Calendar

As per title, when I first setup my P6P, and setup all my email addresses, all the email accounts calendars were shown in Google calendar. Literally overnight they disappeared and I can't sync or see any other calendar events from my non Google accounts. Done the usual cache, clear, disable and uninstall etc all to no avail. Even checked all Hotmail and Yahoo standalone accounts.
Any ideas?
Yeah, my Outlook/Microsoft account also not showing in the calendar which is shame. I would like to receive similar message on always-on display for Teams meetings as I have got from Google Meet via Google Calendar.
My work email is through Outlook and it didn't show either. What I had to do was this...add a new Exchange account and sync the calendar. Let it sync and go refresh the calendar. It should show up shortly after all this.
I assume you mean add the account to 'Gmail'? It won't allow my Hotmail account to be entered in 'Exchange'.
When I add it in Gmail, I notice the option to sync only contacts and mail is there. No option to sync calendar is seen anywhere. I think this is where the problem lies.
No not in Gmail. In the phones Settings > Passwords & accounts > scroll down and select "+ Add account" > select "Exchange".
