[Q] PC doesn't recognize M8 - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I've already searched but couldn't find a topic with the same problem.
When I connect my m8 to my PC (Windows 8.1) he cannot find it.
I thought I had to install the drivers, so I went to Device Manager if there was any exclamation mark, but there wasn't one.
So now I don't know what to do, I hope someone can help me.
Because I want to upgrade my phone, but I have to upgrade my firmware first.
Thanks

Did you try installing HTC Sync?

Yes I've also did that, but without success

Just install HTC drivers or enable usb transfer file when you plug your phone into the com

I've installed the HTC drivers and again no success

I had the sae problem with a new PC, and found out that i was because i had USB 3 drivers installed.
I Uninstalled the usb 3 drivers and i could use adb again.

How do you delete them?

I've just formattted my laptop, so maybe everything would be factory and be 'OK'.
But reinstalled HTC Sync -> no success
Reinstalled the drivers -> No success
So I have no idea what to do know

In Device Manager -> USB Controler. But be sure you have access to install them again

Reset the phone to factory settings.

Also no success, I don't know what to do know :-/

Try to uninstall HTC Sync and HTC drivers. Than connect the phone, do not select the option to automatically install Sync. Go to Device Manager, find the device. Select the option to manually select drivers. Than pick Generic MTP Android Device (or something similar).

Well then it's a problem with your USB cable and/or port on the PC. Try a different port, try a different cable.

Well i tried a different cable and on a Windows 7 without success.
So now i realy dont know what to do

If tried an factory reset and flashed the lastest InsertCoin.
But it didn't worked, I guess I have to go back to my old rom.

Still nothing, anyone an idea?
Ive tried using robomodo, but no success

It seems like you tried everything. Another PC may be your only option at this point.
Did you disable the USB 3.0 drivers (if applicable)? I didn't see you respond either way on that particular suggestion.

[Q] Code 43

I recently broke my HOX+ and got a GNex for my replacement. Whenever I try to connect it, using another cable (Nexus 7) because its stock cable did not come with the phone (used) I get that pop up which says "Unable to recognize device" or sometimes an error. Though on all events, I get something called Error 43.
Anyone know how to fix this? Ive tried fixing to usb port. It is all stock. I just want to connect so I can root this thing.

I do assume you're using windows?
And my apologies, are you getting this error message when you try to root?
Were these the MTP drivers you installed?

Yes, Windows 7. Those were the ones and I want to root, but I can't even connect my phone. I'll plug in my GNex and it will charge through the computer though it will not be recognized nor connected for storage purposes.

One thing you may want to try if you havent yet:
My Computer -> Right Click -> Properties -> Device Manager (On Sidebar) -> Find the GNex Drivers currently installed and remove them and reinstall (Re-plug) your phone so that the drivers can re-install.
Is this a used or new replacement?

Unfortunately, the device appears as Unknown Device. It was my Uncles and it was able to work for him. So it bothers me how its not for me. At times even, when I connect the USB to the Device, it causes my Computer to Shut Down abnormally. So, either something is wrong and I need to fix it...or this phone is haunted,

Even after deleting it?
Did he by chance have it rooted prior to the ownership change?
Is the result replicated in other computers? If you haven't tried, do so. That way you can eliminate either your PC or the GNex as the culprit.

Wierd. Did you try a reset through the stock recovery or just defaults from the security menu?
Here's what I've done. I've pulled my drivers and compressed them. Update the "Unknown Device" from the Device Manager by pointing it to the extracted DLL's and see if that will work.

Pushing them? Sorry for my poor explanation. Those files you downloaded are my working drivers that I managed to pull from:
C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\UMDF
C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\
C:\Windows\system32\
All you have to do is press START -> Type "Device Manager" -> Select the "Unknown Device" -> Press "Update Driver" -> "Browse my computer for driver software" -> Hit "Browse" and point to the folder were the DLL's are located in your computer (Once you have decompressed the archive of course)

Honestly, I'm stumped. The drivers should have installed correctly regardless. This leads me to believe that its the GN acting up. Again, when you did a reset on it; Did you do it from the Security Submenu or from the Stock Recovery?
Is the device recognized under fastboot? ADB usually works fine there.

Wow, I'm truly amazed how nothing seemed to work. I don't think 1-Click Temp-Root Methods work on the GN, in which case you would use the terminal to Perm-Root it.
This happens on all computers?
Tried Different USB ports?
Rebooting PC?

MTP and driver problems after attempting Wugfresh nrk

EDIT:
So I got it rooted, but MTP still won't work on my laptop, but works on my friends laptop What drivers does the first method install? I thought about upgrading them to official drivers. But when I tried to do that, it says I'm already running the latest drivers... Should I uninstall them and try to manually re-install these?

See if the following method fix your device, anyway it fixed mine, btw mine was running cm10.2
1) Go to system settings--->>storage
2) Choose USB computer connection on the upper-right corner
3) Have the MTP option checked.
4) Try connecting your device to the computer usb port again.

Tried that on PA, no luck
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
No one? Has anyone had any success with cm10.2 compared to stock based roms like PA?
me neither, can't even install the adb driver probably, although i've tried every way the nrt or nexus toolkit told me. T_T
with/without usb debugging, with/without mtp connection, using different usb ports, still no luck. Last thing i haven't tried is to connect n7 to another computer
This fixed it for me: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2390296

Cannot get Computer to recognize phone while in Download mode

Hello, I cannot get my computer to recognize my phone while in download mode, thus I cannot load a KDZ file to restore my soft bricked phone. I have the latest LG device drivers installed and have been able to transfer files before I bricked my phone (I accidentally wiped the OS in TWRP). Device manager states that there is a problem with the drivers. Is there anyway I can restore my phone? Thanks in advance

Thanks for the help. but I finally got it to work by using a Windows 7 computer. I believe that there was something interfering with the drivers on my Windows 8 64 bit version.

[Q] Device undetected by Windows.

After going through a replacement process (twice) after cracking the screen on my first device, I was relieved to find that the replacement I got sent wasn't updated to un-moddable status. However, after using rumrunner to s-off, flashing cwm 6.0.4.8 recovery, and using that to install cm11 m6 snapshot, I was disappointed to find that my phone will not connect to Windows in a manner where I can access USB storage. Enabling debugging in dev options does initiate the "device plugin sound" from Windows, but after looking in device manager, all that shows up there is "Android ADB Interface". When debugging is disabled, Windows makes no sounds, and there is nothing in the device manager. The only response i'm receiving is that the charge light on the device comes on. I would try to install drivers, but seeing as the computer doesn't even recognize that a device is plugged in, i'm pretty much halted on that front. Any comments or solutions would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers!

ah okay, install sync manager:

once the windows sees the phone. feel free to remove the sync portion of the install and keep the driver installer on the pc.
this should fix it and wont mess with ADB or fastboot.
Hehe, thanks. I guess I'm just a little paranoid about having junky, manufacturer specific software on my pc. Will see if this works.
