[Q] Code 43 - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I recently broke my HOX+ and got a GNex for my replacement. Whenever I try to connect it, using another cable (Nexus 7) because its stock cable did not come with the phone (used) I get that pop up which says "Unable to recognize device" or sometimes an error. Though on all events, I get something called Error 43.
Anyone know how to fix this? Ive tried fixing to usb port. It is all stock. I just want to connect so I can root this thing.

I do assume you're using windows?
And my apologies, are you getting this error message when you try to root?
Were these the MTP drivers you installed?

Yes, Windows 7. Those were the ones and I want to root, but I can't even connect my phone. I'll plug in my GNex and it will charge through the computer though it will not be recognized nor connected for storage purposes.

One thing you may want to try if you havent yet:
My Computer -> Right Click -> Properties -> Device Manager (On Sidebar) -> Find the GNex Drivers currently installed and remove them and reinstall (Re-plug) your phone so that the drivers can re-install.
Is this a used or new replacement?

Unfortunately, the device appears as Unknown Device. It was my Uncles and it was able to work for him. So it bothers me how its not for me. At times even, when I connect the USB to the Device, it causes my Computer to Shut Down abnormally. So, either something is wrong and I need to fix it...or this phone is haunted,

Did he by chance have it rooted prior to the ownership change?
Is the result replicated in other computers? If you haven't tried, do so. That way you can eliminate either your PC or the GNex as the culprit.

Wierd. Did you try a reset through the stock recovery or just defaults from the security menu?
Here's what I've done. I've pulled my drivers and compressed them. Update the "Unknown Device" from the Device Manager by pointing it to the extracted DLL's and see if that will work.

Pushing them? Sorry for my poor explanation. Those files you downloaded are my working drivers that I managed to pull from:
C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\UMDF
C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\
C:\Windows\system32\
All you have to do is press START -> Type "Device Manager" -> Select the "Unknown Device" -> Press "Update Driver" -> "Browse my computer for driver software" -> Hit "Browse" and point to the folder were the DLL's are located in your computer (Once you have decompressed the archive of course)

Honestly, I'm stumped. The drivers should have installed correctly regardless. This leads me to believe that its the GN acting up. Again, when you did a reset on it; Did you do it from the Security Submenu or from the Stock Recovery?
Is the device recognized under fastboot? ADB usually works fine there.

Wow, I'm truly amazed how nothing seemed to work. I don't think 1-Click Temp-Root Methods work on the GN, in which case you would use the terminal to Perm-Root it.
This happens on all computers?
Tried Different USB ports?
Rebooting PC?

My phone just won't connect to my PC

I'm running 4.1.1 and every time I plug my device in (With stock USB) I get "USB device not recognized"
I've tried another USB. I've downloaded Kies (Will only connect wifi), I've tried reinstalling drivers, I've tried using another computer as well. I've also enabled/disabled USB debugging,
The USB connection notification only appears sometimes, and even when it does my computer still won't recognize my S3. After I reinstall the drivers my phone does say "Connected as a Media device", but then the notification goes away..
FYI, I'm trying to root, that's why I need a direct connection with my computer so badly.
Does your computer has samsung kies?
You say drivers. Idk what u mean but all we need is samsung kies.

Its your rom on the phone that's causing this. If you want to rule it out, why don't you just do a nandroid backup and install stock rom or perhaps the same rom clean from start. I had this issue before and it was fixed with reflashing clean rom.

I should probably mention the phone charges will of the USB cables but none of them work with the PC. I can't tell if it's a software issue or internal..

Tried it with W7 & Mac, neither recognize the device. Android file transfer just tells me "no device found", and the Kies on mac doesn't work either.
I still won't update my computer from XP cause all I read are device errors with upgraded versions of windows... see if you can get your hands on XP and try. Just as insurance, you have gone through device manager and removed all drivers for the phone and then pushed the proper ones from Samsung, correct?

watch the screen closely when you connect the phone to the pc. does it even recognize thst some usb device was plugged in?
After a few moments, (with the phone still connected) click start, right click on my computer, select manage and select device manager.
are there any yellow question marks on the right side under the computer?
Open the modems (click the + sign) is there any SAMSUNG USB Modem? (should have no yellow question mark)
Open Universal Serial Bus controllers, do you see the samsung Mobile USB Composite Device?
There should be NO yellow question marks or exclamation marks anywhere on the right panel.
If there are, there is a problem with your computer settings/drivers or services.
If you followed my "cannot fail" steps EXACTLY in the order I had it, and did not skip anything, you should be without any problems with the modem connectivity. That includes the uninstallation of any samsung drivers previously installed.
If you do not even see the samsung modem, the cables or the phone may be your problem.
Post your results and I'll help you to get it working. Also mention what your compurter's OS is.

My bad, speed reading is not always good... thanks for pointing that out.
Anyway, did the OP ever get this resolved? Bobolinko's steps are thorough and if that didn't fix it, why don't you just try to go into download mode and ODIN a stock ROM with root injected into it already? It's another option...
Did you try buying a fresh new cable to connect the phone to the computer? I only have those issues with corrupted USB cable and a messy laptop...
Also when that notification appears for me I go to my phone USB section and tells it to mount as storage...and if its on storage I switch media than back to storage...always work for me.

If not then just enable those.

I've tried this as well. I get this error:
"Connection problem or invalid MMI code"
The problem is with your computer, and not the phone. You CANNOT get it connected with a problem in the USB settings.
click on the yellow exclamation items and DELETE or UNINSTALL them. then reboot the machine and it should reinstall automatically. If your DRIVERS that are already in the machine are bad, you have to get them updated or replaced. uninstall KIES from the computer, reboot, and reinstall it. go to samsung's site and download and install the driver for your comuter.
The one for the xp is: SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones_1.4.8.0.exe
install it to your computer and be SURE there is no error while it installs.
then check again your device manager list for any yellow problem areas
connect the phone and wait a while, then, disconnect and wait about a minute
then again, connect the phone, and wait at least one minute. open the device manager page and see if there are any yellow area problems again.
are you positive you have the latest window updates?
you can sometimes right click on an item and do the driver update and fix a problem.
You clear all the COMPUTER END PROBLEMS you have and the phone will connect. That, my friend, you can take to the bank.
Good Luck!
Aloha,
post your results later

[Q] PC doesn't recognize M8

Hi,
I've already searched but couldn't find a topic with the same problem.
When I connect my m8 to my PC (Windows 8.1) he cannot find it.

So now I don't know what to do, I hope someone can help me.
Because I want to upgrade my phone, but I have to upgrade my firmware first.

Try going to Developer Options>Disable USB Debugging, then reboot. Then connect your phone and try going to USB computer connection again, and enable whatever connection mode you want. You can re-enable USB debugging after that.

I'm at work now, but you use Explorer and go to the folder where you extracted the drivers and use right-click --> properties in one of the files there. There is a tab that lists certificates. Just to be sure you can temporally disable driver signing verification.

Doesn't work for me, it says it cannot find the files. In my win10 install i have two problems, ADB only works if i disable driver signing verification and MTP doesn't work. I tried running sfc /scannow and it says WinUSB is corrupt and cannot be repaired (probably why MTP does not work). I tried using intel drivers for both and it does not work. Only ASUS works (but fails because of certificate) for ADB Composite Device, but mtp doesn't work anyway.
This tutorial could help you anyway.

Hi Kras and thank for the response!
I Tried it too but in my device manager it wont show any device related to asus nor adb.
Tryied to boot into TWRP but no MTP either.
I Tried USDBview but doesnt show. The strange fact is that the phone charges normally.
It happened after i switched to CHARGE ONLY... after that, could never go back "/
I think i´ll try to revert EVERYTHING to stock. Somethings not right.
Another information, the cellphone charges, i´ve tryied to unistall and reinstall every adb usb_driver but in driver manager, nothing appears, even an exclamation. Tried to force install drivers, nothing either. All this happened after set CHARGE MODE i´m so pissed off and frustrated
This is a shot in the dark, but in device manager you can click View>Show hidden devices.
From there you can truly uninstall all drivers, and then reboot and try reinstalling. Maybe this will help.
Also, different ports, different cables?
If it's just for file transfers have you also tried something like AirDroid or Dropbox/Google Drive/Mega?

You need to do it manually. Google "how to manually update drivers windows 10". Do it via device manager with your Pixel C plugged in.
did do. And also before have tried to "point the update to" sdk and Wug's folders. Am not a total noob, but braincells do die, I cant stop it! If it matters, I did just few days ago clean-"re"install win10 64 but this problem was b4 that.. hence the clean start over. All Im ever getting is MTP USB Device, or wen tab's in fastboot, Android ADB Device. Both say "best is already installed".
also have done the "disable driver enforce", i do that routinely now til this is solved..

I can b a bit dense, so in case i forget, Thank you for your help!! will probab say this again later..
Thanks to cam30era for the helping!! Problem was simply my misuse of TB. No mystery or MS/Google conspiracy. I went back to stock, re-rooted and Voila!

Broken Screen/Digitizer need backup

Dropped phone, broken screen/digitizer, doesn't respond to touch
Was able to see the screen a bit yesterday but now its almost all black. I mainly just need my photos off it. Tried an RMA to replace the screen but they said they had to wipe everything first
Is there any way I can pull the photos off it? I haven't tried an otg yet, but I also can't see the screen, so im not sure it would help
Is there a screen sharing program I could get w/o first installing it on my phone?
I think my phone may be rooted, i forget if i ever did, but i dont have TWRP installed on it? (i dont super know what that is but i see other people talking about it)
Any thoughts on how to pull photos off it? I tried the adb devices but the cmd prompt doesn't seem to recognize the phone
Im quite sure I have debugging enabled, just coudln't get the file transfer button hit
Adb pull command should work, but you need to sort the drivers first (I'm guessing that's the issue).

Sorry, can't give definite answer, I know that I had an issue with drivers (device wasn't properly recognized) and tried pretty much everything that Google suggested ... Until it finally started working. I have no idea exactly what solved the issue, it was over a year and a half ago. The next time I clean installed Windows (10 in both cases) it was smart enough to automatically find right drivers.
So ... I'm guessing Googling something like "OnePlus 3 Windows # drivers" should find something useful?
About image verification: are you talking about anti-bot system that checks if you're human? Wouldn't know much about that, never personally had issues with it, but also very rarely see it on XDA as I'm nearly always checking this forum in Tapatalk app.

If you had earlier connected your phone to the PC and authorised the PC connection on your phone, then it is a simple issue of disabling driver signature verification on Win 10 and installing the OnePlus drivers on it. Search for and download the correct drivers to your PC. Hold down Shift key and restart the PC. Choose Troubeshoot>Advanced Options>Startup Options and click Restart. On restarting, there will be a list of options. Choose 7 in the Options or click F7 on your keyboard and you will boot into the disabled mode. Now connect your phone and go to Device Manager in PC. Choose the phone which may be showing up as Unknown or with an yellow flag and right click and choose Update Driver. Navigate to the downloaded driver and install it. Now your phone should be properly recognised. Use adb pull command to copy whatever files you need to. Note that this driver signature verification disabling is temporary and when you restart the PC in the normal way, the PC will go back to the normal mode. But the installed drivers will still function.
Hope this helps.

Oh wow, do you know if this works on Win7? And also I can't see my screen at all, so could I do adb pull of entire folder or hardrive kind of thing? I mainly just want phots, but i've never done adb stuff so not sure how it works
Had the same issue with my Lenovo P2. Only i didn't have debugging enabled. If you have, screen mirroring should be an easy solution. You could just see ur phone screen on ur computer that way. What helped me was to forceboot the phone to recovery with the hardware buttons, then connect it to ur pc. TWRP will automatically launch MTP. When u backed up evrything, you can wipe ur device through adb

I don't know about Win 7. It will work on Win 10. Most likely, this should not be needed in Win 7 at all as the drivers should install whether signed or not.
Regarding copying data, a simple command of "adb pull /sdcard" will copy all the folders, files, data etc to your PC. You can also specify where you want the data copied to, simply add the path to the command above. This will work whether your screen works or not. Of course, there are other methods of copying data, you can search for it if you need it.
