[Q] Optimus UI - Removal? - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just saw the leaked screenshots of Android L on the LG G3. Really dissapointed in the fact that you can barely tell the difference since the home screen, again, is filled with all the LG theming like Optimus UI. I was just wondering, is it possible to install Android on the device without all that? Like, near stock Android. Same goes for KitKat, is it possible?

When the bump tool is released probably. Until then depending what variant you are on no.

I've got a d855 as well. There is a few non LG roms to try, I'm using liquid smooth at the minute and love it.

If your only issue is the homescreen try a different launcher
If you want a new rom, well every rom has an how to install in the op but close to stock roms are tethered so you will have to load the kernel via fatboot every time you reboot (for now) but that should also be covered in the op's of the roms

First and foremost, go to the at&t thread for the g3. There you will be able to see if there are any stable roms for your variant. Also you will find the thread for bump! Which will give you a custom recovery in order to flash roms.

as yet no roms. twrp recovery via bump'd is available as are several mods ( blacked out system/dialer/contacts) available. some mods aren't actually made for our variant (d850) but work. with twrp i have been able to completely wipe my phone and then be rooted/bump'd and had my system restored to my liking in close to half the time as without custom recovery. progress is happening ::good::

As long as you have tweaksbox and xposed .. you can change many things without flashing a rom Just enjoy your device and get used to the phone You can check out this to change your icons and status bar signals.. It has beautiful icons and also check out Unicon from the PlayStore if you have any issues using those gorgeous icons :good:

There is some 4.1.2 stock debloated rom??

I need some stock 4.1.2 stock debloated rom for E980 from AT&T, I'm tired of dealing with the bugs on KK roms, all kk roms for the ATT E980 sucks!!!!
I've searched the forum for some 4.1.2 stock debloated rom and I can not find it.
Thanks for any help!!!
Saying that all kk roms for this phone suck is really a big insult to the developers here. I understand its your opinion but perhaps if you were a little less aggresive you might get a response for what you're looking for.

Why not just flash the stock 4.1.2 rom of your choice, then root, and debloat it yourself from there?

I've been using this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2462453
I think I'm using v5, maybe v5.5. Have stayed on 4.1 due to webview text reflow and just never got back to any of the ROMs since....
I have not seen a true optimus g pro debloated rom. Which is sad, many devs kill themselves trying to get g3 or other custom ROM working well but no one cleans up & optimises the stock rom for there to be one "clean" & stable rom for all users..... Not even sure if there is one on the viet site.

Hmmm.. that would be nice, to have a clean shaven build--one that it available in TOT and/or KDZ. A fresh, stable base would be nifty for sure. I know I get annoyed at having to flash the goshdarn ATT stock roms. They are soo bloated and annoying. I suppose a thing worth doing, is worth doing mydamnself. A project, hooray!

KitKat or Lollipop?

Hey guys, fairly new here, but I wanted to ask some people's opinions because I'm not so sure.
As the thread's name says, I'm torn between Lollipop and KitKat. At the moment I'm on KitKat, running stock ROM and Rin Kernel, rooted with TWRP.
I was previously on Lollipop but I decided to switch back to KitKat PURELY because of the soft keys (yes, I know) and the amazing G3 Tweaksbox by Pierandra Toti. (I think I spelt it right, not sure. Sorry if it's wrong.)
If you recommend me staying on KitKat, what would you recommend I change? At the moment I'm not entirely sure, because Lollipop's UI is a lot cleaner, and a bit faster in my opinion.
Please help me! ?

My opinion is this, I love lollipop because the phone seems faster and the battery life is way better and the new UI is pretty sweet. I run stock debloated rooted Rom because I love stability with a few tweaks to make it a bit faster. Tweaksbox now works for lollipop so that's great for customization. The only way I would tell you to stay on KitKat would be because the WiFi calling is sketchy with lollipop. With kitkat all Xposed modules work, as with lollipop not all work but all the once I use on KitKat work on lollipop. There's a list somewhere on XDA that will show you which ones work and which dont? Backup kitkat including efs and stick with lollipop a couple of weeks and see if you like it. ?

I think I might try Lollipop again, seeing as I switched back go KitKat just after root became available for Lollipop.

try it out but make sure to backup your Rom after flashing Xposed as some modules bootloop your device, but most of them are stable by now.
The softkeys take a little getting used to (LG making them oversized doesnt really help that ).
Other than that, I think the benefits of Lollipop in general, outweigh KitKat. Performance is notably smoother and battery life has been better in my experience.

If you change the stock DPI to 530 or 560 (mine is 530) everything gets a hell of a lot smaller

Well, I literally spent the whole day trying to install TWRP on my phone but I couldn't figure it out 'cos I'm stoopid. Someone post some sort of super easy guide and I'll go back to Lollipop. (I really want to go back to Lollipop!)

Look through the play store for autorec for your g3's model
Sorry I'm not giving a link, I'm just being lazy
I tried getting the D855 version for my D855 but Google thinks that mine isn't a D855
EDIT: inglojosh is going to DM the link

Kitkat!!! I upgraded my phone to 5.0.2 and it is the worst decision i have ever made stay on kitkat lolipop will rape your phone
Just an update, guys. Thanks for all your help, I decided to flash CloudyG3 straight from KitKat, and it is better in every way. If I did something seriously wrong there, help me out and tell me if I was supposed to update via LG's PC Suite and then flash.

Well I have my G3 for like 3 weeks now and it is very nice. First thing I did was rooting and downgrading aboot and after that installed CloudyG3. All is working good. Battery is good. Camera is like in stock. Didn't try any other ROMs but the ones that are not based on stock have poor camera (due to OEM libs and frameworks). What I did to Cloudy G3 is adjusted DPI to 530 (because stock 640 is HUGE). My advice is go for CloudyG3. Don't restore apps make clean flash and you should be good to go.
Dude you must try this rom. you will love it for sure.
SlickRom
Super smooth and best battery backup.
Welll, I have my g3 with cloudy since i bought it because of the stock camera. Besides, its a great rom with a great support from the community.

Lollipop Rom for LG G Pro E986.. Help Me Please!!!

I am searching lollipop rom for lg g pro e986. But I dont found. So it can custom rom. Please is there solve for this problem? Do you any help me?
For original ported lollipop this one was decent if I remember correctly:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/optimus-g-pro/general/share-rom-lollipop-super-lte-v6-5-g4-t3152144
but there are plenty other option (you can flesh it as E988. I have E986 and it work)
For a custom rom there is even more roms (you can use version marked as for E980 + new kernel) I'm currently using this:

Bump.
Anyone still active with this phone can recommend a kitkat rom or the most stable rom? i own a E986
I'm on stock 4.1, rooted and CWM by feegee
There is official kitkat 4.4.1. File name E98620A_00.kdz search on google or here. As for custom rom kitkat if I remember cyanogenmod had serious problem with camera that stop working after one use and you need to find a way around this problem for example app that reset camera after every use. But where to find Cyanogenmod after official servers were shoot down? I have no idea. Different roms I didn't test.

I'm using SEUX v2 ROM. Here is a link to where I found it. Someone else shared it in another ROM thread.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/op...om-ux-5-0-gpro-variants-t3351116/post67799171
Overall I really like it and I have been using it for about a week now and have had virtually no issues. I paired it with Xposed and G3 Tweaksbox and it is great. To prevent the system from saying root is detected I also installed RootCloak (Xposed module) and that stopped it from saying it (if you try the ROM you will eventually know what I am referring to here.).

Try this one. I am no longer using SEUX ROM I switched to this one after the dev posted a kernel update to fix issues in the latest ROM zip. https://forum.xda-developers.com/optimus-g-pro/development/rom-slimlp-beta-0-8-t3213222/page152

Try flashing back to stock and then reroot it again and install a custom ROM. As for the battery, you may have gotten a cheap knockoff version. Try to get a zerolemon battery for it.
okay
