[Q] Sound problem during sleep - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, I have an problem - I can't listen music normally on my m8. It has s-off, rooted latest WWE stock with latest firmware (401.7)
The problem is next:
When phone plays music during display off state - music plays slow with crazy distortion.
Once I turn display on - music plays great, while display is on.
How I can fix that? I already tried to wipe cache - didn't helped.

Bump.
My phone just started doing the same thing today. Thought it was the new lollipop leak that had maybe a bug. Downgraded to SD 4.4.4 GPE and I've experienced the same behavior. Even changed the kernel and no dice. Streaming music works fine. Maybe reverting to the firmware that goes with the 4.4.4 Rom might do the trick?
Gonna try running an RUU on the phone to clean it to see if that fixes the problem.

This is the exact problem I'm having, I had it on Android Revolution HD and i fixed it by flashing the harman kardon mod and then I switched to the google play edition version and now i'm having the same problem but now I can't fix it. thinking it has something to do with the adsp

Music playing, but no sound

Hey guys, me agian...Need some help
I recently flashed the ARHD ROM on my International version M8, everything works splendidly but, I discovered that when I try to play Mp3s (through the speaker) the mp3 plays but, there is no audio and same happens when using headphones.
I tried searching the forum and came across someone who experienced the same problem, however, their device was Verizon branded and so the solution applied to that specific branded device.
weird though, sometimes i will get audio but if i close the app (I've tried many 3rd party apps, same issue) and try to play again it won't. I checked all my settings all all seems to be in tact.
I am s-off, bootloader unlocked, rooted and superCID with latest 2.2XXX firmware.
Can anyone shed some light on this issue plz?
many thanks in advance
Hi I had this same problem while I was out camping. Luckily had a downloaded Harman Larson adsp zip. Flashed it, wiped cache and dalvik and rebooted...has been working fine ever since

Not sure of there's an option to install harmon kardon audio in AHRD but if u accidentally clicked it, it will kill your sound without updating the ASDP firmware.
See here and flash you should have it working now V4 with ASDP update
thx, i did some research and thats exactly what i had to do...update the h/k.zip

[Q] Can't get Audio thru headset after HTC One M8 conversion to Lollipop 5.0.1

So I've did a factory reset and start flashing the "Stock Google Play Edition Rom LXR22C.H5" rom again.
Since I'm Rooted, this is the one I've flash: RUU-HTC_One_M8_GPE_5.0.1-3.11.1700.5_rooted
I've followed the instruction on #2031. Everything else work.... again only plugging in the headset into the jack, does switch music from speakers to headset.
As mentioned before I've upgrade my Stock AT&T HTC One (M8) to GPE 4.4.2 and automatically received all the updates OTA to get to 4.4.4 (Audio was working thru headset and/or speakers with no problems)
The only problem with 4.4.4 is that you don't have access to SD storage. (though I found a patch to update in the system, but haven't tried it)
I like the speed, simplicity of 5.0.1. That is why I keep on trying.
Also I tried changing the Kernel - using skydragon kernel (still same problem with audio). But when I used the kernel for 4.4.4 of GPE, the booting hung at HTC logo before it showed the dead android.
So I'm lost for option other than using an app to manual switch to headset from speaker....(bummer)
Anyway new ideas to proceed are appreciated.

M8 Google Play Edition Bugs

I've been having several bugs on my converted M8 Google Play Edition:
When I answer calls I am sometimes not able to hear the other person and this does not go away until I restart the phone.
I also occasionally get a "Camera error: can't connect camera," error and the camera is unusable until I restart the phone.
I am not sure if this coincides with the call issue, but, alarms will sometimes be silent and that also is a problem until the phone is restarted.
Finally, sometimes the YouTube app just crashes on launch, constantly--although I'm not sure if this is a YouTube problem or a GPE problem.
All of these problems seem to be fixed with a restart so I'm thankful that they're not permanent but it still is an annoying pain.
Is anyone else having these types of issues with a GPE M8?
Are you using a custom ROM based on GPe or have you done the conversion using the RUU?

I did the conversion with the RUU back on 4.4.3 or 4.4.2 I believe. I just OTA'd up to 4.4.4 and 5.0.1. These problems started happening after moving up to 5.0.1.

[Q] Video playback issue on ZE550ML 2.18.40.7

Hi,
Does anyone have any issues with hardware accelerated playback of videos (360p and above) on the ZE550ML firmware version 2.18.40.7 (WW)? The video will be garbled or sometimes just blank but audio will play fine. When I switch to software decoding (e..g in MX player), it will work fine. I had to downgrade back to 2.17.40.6 in order to resolve the issue. I tried with stock & rooted 2.18.40.7 but still faced the same issue. Anyone else facing this issue and have a fix/workaround?
Thanks.

Yeah, I got exactly the same on the 2.18 firmware on the ZE551ML. The same mp4s that worked on 2.17, would get partial/full black screen (audio always worked). Since the 2.19 update they work again.
Good to know the new firmware fixed this. I'll have to wait till its available for the ZE550ML.
Thanks.

I'm on the 2.19 firmware and I still have issues with a black screen... any fixes?
Hey,
I have same problem, but i was rooted, when i upgraded to 2.19 i have a lot of problems, so i stay without root now and problem was solved even in 2.18 without root. I installed xpsed freeeze some aps etc. so i guess it's xposed/root problem.

I am rooted and using Xposed and the mp4s that were broken before are all working fine now. I did a factory reset before upgrading to 2.19 though so whatever was causing the issue obviously got wiped along the way. Try booting into safe mode to see if the issue persists.
Hi all,
I've taken the advice of some here & did a factory reset. Video playback is now working even when I upgraded to 2.18.40.7. Thanks to all for sharing.
Cheers.

Android 6.0 CFW - No sounds & can't call / be called

Hello @ all !
Since the update to Android 6.0 there are no more sounds.
Everything in connection with sound don't work. When i change volume level, there is no "beep" ton.
Also i can't call or can be called. When i try to call it freeze, only power menu to restart works. When somebody trys to call me, it's like my phone is off, but it's on.
I am registerd to the network, so i can send and reach sms / use the internet.
I tried the ROM from Leedroid , ViperRom , RevolutionHD and MaximusHD. ( FULL WIPE etc. i tried every option.... )
When use the CandySix Rom, i have sound and i can call...
Would be great if anybody could help me.
THX A LOT!
I think I may have the same issue. I purchased a used M9 of AT&T variant. I know it had sound as the first time I booted it I heard the ATT boot sound. I never used the phone though and I immediately entered fastboot and changed it to a developer edition (the phone was already s-off and unlocked) I then installed LeeDroid via TWRP. The rom works fine but I have no sound at all from internal speakers or headphones. I also tried ViperOneM9 with the same result. I have not yet tried CandySix, but I will.
The only thing that is different fro me is that I don't have a sim yet for my carrier so the phone isn't yet registered. It is on wifi though. No sounds work at all. Touch sounds, volume rocker sounds, notifications, music also doesn't play from mp3's I have on my sd card (they actually don't seem to even start as the time counter doesn't ever start even after hitting pause and play)
Any Ideas at all?
-J
Take a look over in the LeeDroid thread. You need to flash the latest firmware before installing the HTC MM based ROMs.
it's awlays common sense to read the OP. especially when there is a major upgrade like from lollipop to marshmallow where the whole firmware is changed/modified . be always sure to run latest firmware when trying to use latest roms. aosp/cm are a different story, for them it doesn't matter if lollipop firmware or MM is used
