[Q] Wiping phone - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I need help wiping data off my phone. Back then when I tried to wipe phone to sell all I had to do is Encrypt the phone then select Factory Reset to take care of everything. LG G3 seems to ask me to decrypt it first before I can factory reset. I'm on stock rom. No root or bootloader unlock.

Bump, I have the same question. I want to factory reset to turn my phone in. I encrypted it and went to factory reset and it says it wants to decrypt first.

Is there no way to decrypt it first?

There is, but doesn't that defeat the purpose of encrypting in the first place?

[Q] CM10 m2 Encryption Issue

Ok. I foolishly enabled encryption on my i711 and after putting in the password, the volumes unlock and the system starts. The problem is that if the screen goes off for any reason, the phone reboots. Tried all sorts of things to correct and decided I no longer wanted the phone encrypted. There is no way back. Ok, so I thought I could do a factory reset... No dice. The phone reboots and all is still encrypted and there.
Next I tried clockworkmod but couldn't do ANYTHING there because the encrypted volumes aren't mountable. I couldn't factory reset, install a new rom, etc.
Next I went to ODIN and tried to repartition. No luck there either. I flashed clockworkmod again for good measure and even tried Nand Erase All.
After this I booted into the phone and tried to repartition... Now I have a phone that displays the lovely CM10 boot screen but never gets passed that. I can still get into recovery.
Any thoughts on how to undo the encryption and reflash a rom?

I have some very bad news for you.... Encryption is a one way street. Once encrypted the only way back is to flash stock via fastboot.
I can't even start to explain how to use fastboot as I have never been in a situation where I have needed it.
recoveries lose all access on encrypted devices so this is the only way.
Here is some links to get you started... Please do research before you begin the process and make sure you've obtained the appropriate files. I will take no responsibility for bricking your device.

[Q] Password rejected after full device encryption

Hello there.
I've just encrypted my N7105 with 4.1.2 stock ROM.
Well, big surprise... password is not accepted and I can no more boot Android.
Hard reset, any kind of wipe and firmware flash don't solve, it's still prompting for password.
At this point, I think the problem is in the bootloader, how can I restore the original bootloader?
Thanks and best regards

ze500cl Recover from bootloop while saving internal storage data

correction. It was stuck at the boot screen. Boot freeze if you like... Not a bootloop.
I got a bootfreeze on completely stock ze500cl zenfone2. I think a factory reset will solve it, since I messed with no system files. Is there any way I can back up my internal storage before I do a reset?
I saw a thread that mentioned having to unlock bootloader, installing TWRP and transfer the data using MTP. However, the unlocking method was for the other (higher) variants of the phone. Also, I will need to be able to relock it afterwards for warranty purposes as it ain't my phone.
What should I do?
I found the answer myself, and posted it here:

I see there is factory data reset button. But if i do that will i lose the root ? will i lose the cm11 ? will i brick my device or there is a way through safe trap ?

Softbricked Vanilla M9 Data Recovery issues

Hey Guys,
my sisters phone stopped working...
Its a normal M9 with stock recovery thats not rooted, bootloader is still locked and no usb debugging turned on. no SD card.
Its somehow stuck on boot. I have tried wiping cache, but that did not help.
I did not go for a factory reset yet, since my sister really wants to keep her photos (its the first 4 months with her 1st child).
The phone is still under warranty but support says, they would just repair, not recover the data, obviously.
What would be the best way to recover the data?
I know i could try a factory reset and then work with data recovery tools, but is that really reliable?
I also read that a custom recovery like CWM or TWRP can give access to the stored data, but i am unsure if that would void the warranty.
So i am quite torn on what to do with this thing since im really scared of messing something up.
Any help would be really appreaciated
Edit: wrong forum, im so sorry
